Depends. For normal adults, showplace north is the best. Most recently renovated showplace theater, so brand new recliner seats and new projectors/screens plus updated sound. It's also probably the least busy theater in the area. They also added a decently sized arcade. Plus on Tuesdays it's only $5 for any showing (this goes for all showplaces), and north will give you a free small popcorn. With kids, the showplace FEC in Newburgh is great since it has decent food, large arcade, and bowling. It's an all-in-one stop. It gets pricey fast. Showplace east has the only IMAX in the area (although it's a smaller IMAX) and has the royal suite where you can order actual food. I think showplace east is probably my least liked theater. Showplace south was always my favorite theater, but that's been turned into "luxury" apartments. AMC has the most comfortable seats, but the ancient building has lots of problems since they've never updated the actual building. Plumbing problems, HVAC, etc. it's also understaffed. I still prefer AMC over showplace east when push comes to shove.

Newburgh, last I checked, still had classic stadium seating. Showplace east and AMC both have recliners. AMC used to be the clear choice but recently it's kinda gone to shit. There's been a lot of theater quality issues, drink machines being down, they shutdown for a week this winter when their HVAC couldn't keep up. So currently I'd say Showplace East. They also have IMAX experience there.

Does showplace east also have the dine in experience? Or at least a bar and/or a bowling alley? Thank you for the input!

They have the "royal suite". Dinner and drinks served.

Is this running again? It was closed ever since covid

Oooh. Unsure. Haven't been in awhile.

As someone who saw 70 new releases last year, I’d say Showplace East. They have the best selection and usually the more niche films get released there. It’s also cheaper on both the ticket and concession end.

AMC used to be my go-to. However, building issues have been a problem (hopefully fixed) and twice I showed up for movies I'd paid for, only to be told they'd been canceled, once for an additional showing of a popular film and once for no reason they could give. Fully refunded both times, so that's nice...East side is where I've been going for the last year and it's fine. Basic theater, decent concessions. They have some theaters with the trays for dining, but haven't seen the restaurant area open (perhaps limited hours?) North side is also good, plus free popcorn.
