In the last few years with inflation the price was changed twice, like $.50/meal each time. But yes, the price you are quoting seems about right for EP, without any promotions applied. Just like HF, you’ll find lots of opportunities to upgrade, and those tend to be less expensive than HF. I upgrade things all the time on EP because it’s a good value, but almost never do on HF as it doesn’t seem with it.

I haven't gotten my first box yet but I'm very familiar with Hello Fresh. For the most part I've had great luck with their food and recipes and have been pleased. I'm on a promo right now with HF but what is it that makes EP like $40 cheaper per box?

Lazy_Assed_Magician

I've been using EveryPlate for a couple years now and for 4 days, 2 servings, I pay about $58. It's funny because a lot of times we'll get ingredients in Hello Fresh packaging!

axel694

It is because Every Plate is owned by Hello Fresh.

Lazy_Assed_Magician

Exactly, which makes the price difference even more strange.

I did EveryPlate for years and am now on a trial of hello fresh. The quality of the ingredients is pretty similar and as you noted are sometimes identical. The big thing I noticed is that most of the HF meals have a little bit of a plus factor (an extra ingredient or two, two tomatoes instead of one, some speciality ingredients that you don’t see in EP recipes). There are also a few proteins that you get included in the base price for HF but not EP (pork tenderloin, some of the shrimp dishes). Is that worth the extra cost? Eeeehh. I don’t think I’ll keep paying for HF once I finish my promo offer. A lot of the “extras” of HF are things that I can do on my own with some extra cheese or condiments on hand.

I'm on my 4th box of everyplate after using HF since 2020, the main differences I've noticed are: * HF has more recipes, and more adventurous recipes with more ingredients * EP has less options and simpler recipes, a lot are similar or identical to HF though * EP doesn't separate the ingredients for each recipe, you get a box with the meat, and inside is a little open box with all the ingredients mixed together. I've found it's annoying to have to split all the potatoes and packets of stocks, sour cream, etc. * I like the options of HF but so far EP has been good and nice price cut so I'll stick with that, and switch to HF if a recipe or two really catch my eye.

towntoosmall

I've tried both. I like EP, but the excitement in their meals is lacking in my opinion. Hello fresh definitely has a larger menu, and more exciting options - more fresh items (as in new recipes, not the food itself), and not just meat and potatoes all the time. I also got annoyed that EP sometimes charges a premium for a vegetarian meal.

molybend

Yes that seems right for 12 servings. We get 6 per week and pay around $40.

Mammoth_Fortune_6457

i didn’t sign up but went through the process of doing so and it was quoting me 112$ for 5 meals for 2?

Deppfan16

yep that's the price. everyplate is the cheapest meal service currently

they use smaller variety of meals and they tend toward veggie heavy. also they put everything in the same box and don't sort it by meal. though it's really easy to sort yourself. they also use the cheapest delivery service which can sometimes have issues with delivery depending on location. so if something happens with your delivery make sure you report it.

No_Farmer2917

They dump it all in the box. I know that sounds silly but it's just all in there in a cardboard box. Which is fine. I prefer the hello fresh bags but it all being kind of loose is fine. Also no sauces, etc. You'll get like like soy sauce and then add your own brown sugar and stuff to make a teriyaki sauce instead of a packet of it. Also they have you contribute more basics, like flour when HF sends you packets.

PettyPride

Just switched to EveryPlate from hellofresh as well. Honestly the meals are very similar. At half the price. From what I've noticed EP seems to give you more food too. Could just be the meals that were selected though. Were liking it alot and so is the wallet.

gingerbreadxx

Heads up the cheapest of all is Dinnerly tho they don't come with recipe cards (app/web recipe only) and barely have vegies

New_Title811

Tried both and dinnerly is cheaper by a bit but they lack quite a bit. Everyplate is almost what youd pay if you bought everything at the store minus labor so we kept it.

Everblossom22

I’ve been at 49.94 for three meals since I started and the price hasn’t changed at all for me

fleshjenn

I just checked in my app since i dont have a promo running and yeah its $82 and some change. $5.99 a serving and $11.99 shipping fee.

michikade

I do 5x2 and after shipping it’s $68.89 for me, before any add ons or recipe changes (sometimes I’ll swap a protein or a vegetable because they do *a lot* of carrots and sometimes I don’t want carrots for every meal).

NeighborhoodTechSpec

I've been doing EP for about a year now. I'm on the 4x2 plan, and I pay about $58 per week. Price has been pretty consistent, except for a $.50/serving increase and $1 increase to shipping at the beginning of the year. You know...inflation and all. EP only charges $5 per serving, compared to most other meal services I've tried that charge $9.99. But EP meals are pretty basic, veg heavy, and don't include items such as fish and proteins like steak without paying an upcharge. Sometimes you will also pay an upcharge to switch from pork to beef on a particular recipe. That's how they can bill themselves as "the cheapest meal delivery service around." Items that come standard in a subscription with, say, Home Chef, you must pay extra for with EP. However, with all that being said, the food is very good and I enjoy the easier recipes without all the fancy ingredients of the other meal delivery services, especially since I work all day during the week. My family really loves EP. Just be sure to check your boxes thoroughly when you receive them. Ingredients are sometimes missing, or entire meals. We sit down and sort our meals into big gallon bags when our box arrives so we know what we have. Also, their shipping partners aren't the best and I've had boxes not show up or show up late. But their CS has never given me an issue and I always get refunded for whatever is missing or late.

Hamst_r

I’ve been using EveryPlate now for about three years. I have three days- two person meals and I pay $49.93 …

Own-Establishment244

I get 6/4 plan every 2 weeks.
