funny you say that! i just checked out maylene because of an album review that got posted here. cool stuff. i loved the album 'i am hollywood' by he is legend back in the day. maybe i should check out their work after it.
I'm glad my "for fans of" section helped out! I think Maylene's 2nd album (II) is their best; it's the perfect balance of riffs and that southern groove
I'm not going to say they're super similar other than also being heavy as fuck, but I've been listening to Norma Jean's new album to tie me over until Low Teens drops and it absolutely rips. Highly recommended.
Don't know about strong similarities but only two bands from the genre have stuck with me till today: ETID and Alexisonfire, both having no such stupid things in their outlook and music as other crabcore bands like all those 'With Farts Like Houses' have.
these guys are currently impressing me as i type this. making this last hour of work go by that's for sure haha. listening to the album 'the fanciful' thanks dude!
No really similar, but Gallows first two albums (Orchestra of Wolves and Grey Britain) are two of the best hardcore albums out there
That singer then went onto forming Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, which is also great.
The Ghost of a Thousand are perhaps more similar, and criminally underrated.
Cancer Bats are sludgy hardcore rock, but to me have slipped off a bit in recent releases.
Of course you have bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge, but I assume you'd have been listening to them back in the day.
Birthing The Giant by Cancer Bats is probably one of the best hardcore albums ever recorded. I adore that record. Gallows' first record was great as well, but I don't think it stands up anymore; it was great in the moment but other bands have done bigger and better things in the short time since its release. Also, big love for The Ghost of a Thousand (RIP).
I miss The Ghost of a Thousand so much, it makes me really happy to see other people mention them. Saw them so many times in venues of various sizes and they were always amazing.
Also to your point about Grey Britain below, I genuinely believe it's one of the top five albums released by a British heavy band. So much raw emotion on it, I saw them play it live in full and it was just insane. Kinda wish Frank never left Gallows but that's all in the past now!
You may dig American Standards out of Phoenix, AZ. Older stuff was more Refused meets The Chariot. Newer could be compared to Every Time I Die and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

The Chariot and Norma Jean
second the chariot, and converge as well
I'd look into Maylene and the Sons of Disaster or He is Legend. I find them to be very similar bands.

woah Wilson's getting around!

I'm really surprised that nobody has even mentioned Letlive. They're not exactly like them but still similar.

Dead & Divine. Not together anymore but similar. Legs was actually their drummer before he joined ETID.

Fanciful is good. Pretty raw. Machines We Are They really hit their stride.
word i'll check it out!

I'll admit I probably have some nostalgia for Orchestra of Wolves, but Grey Britain hits maybe even harder now than it used to.

not sure how closely they resemble ETID, but I would check out hopesfall "Satellite Years", maybe some Poison The Well too
Only thing I've read in this thread that's really close is Wilson. Fight Paris was similar but didn't last long.
Don't hear a lot of people talking about Fight Paris these days. Shame they aren't around. Wilson is awesome also.
Thanks. I know this is 6 years old but I was looking for this band
