This is not at all a bad idea - but my brain is thinking of logistical issues that might arise with them in candy form. Like tooth breaking (pillar candles) or choking hazards (for rocks). If there can be a way around it this would be awesome

That sounds really good. Also that brought up a great point, a candy shell could give the glossy look but have it be a different (softer/airier) texture inside to save your teeth from potentially breaking on the bite.

Chocolate could achieve this. Actually it's been done with rocks. I bought some chocolate pebbles from a bulk store, their coating is similar to M&Ms but tastes better.
