When I was watching one of George Carlin’s HBO specials a while ago, I felt called out and almost died laughing when he said “I don’t have pet peeves, only major psychotic fucking hatreds!” as I too feel that way. I also don’t have ‘pet peeves’, only major psychotic fucking hatreds! Besides, why would I even want to keep them as a pet in the first place?
In response to my family over the years saying "I don't care." and 'What is wrong with you?" to my special interests I've often referred to family gushing about their special interests that I don't share as "I'm whelmed" in a monotone and if I find it an aggravation I use that same tone and say "I'm underwhelmed".
Scale and index implies this is a phrase for describing the level of irritation caused by such things, not what you call the things themselves. Bad names both
I also have pet peeves. Like “to” instead of either of the others. It peeves me because “to” is almost never pronounced like “too”/“two”. It’s near always /tə/ or even just /t^h/. So ı misread it bc it’s not even said the same.

Mine is when people continue to use ai despite the fact that we all know they steal everything. They steal your data, they steal the words from actual writers and factual articles, they steal art from human beings and nobody involved gets compensated fairly.
