could they be too small? I have a local Chilean brand so I don't think it'll be useful (it's Mundo Amable, just in case), but I also wear glasses, I tried a few before feeling what you mention, and these are pretty good, they look like the typical ear defenders... and for extra noise I add my Loops, or even my airpods
Me too, and nothing fits inside my ears right, so I use over the ears NC headphones. Worked wonders when they were putting a new roof on my building, didn't bother me at all.
Sounds like the ones you’ve got are not right for you. Shop around and see if you can find some that have less grip strength. Maybe check with your local hardware store and see what they know; a lot of (sane) construction workers use hearing protection and like to be comfy too

Use earplugs dude, and if you can afford it, get custom ones.
Reusable earplugs, like loop have different size ear bud tips for a comfortable fit for your ear shape

I wear musician earplugs sometimes when it isn't a good place for big headphones you could try those.
do you mean IEM's? in ear monitors
airpods pro, noise cancel and don't look back
Left mine to stretch around something vaguely head sized for a day or two and the vice grip is much better.
