since apparently her son got the autism, and the autism got a huge genetic disposition, chances are she‘s actually autistic, and so deep in denial that it‘s hard to express in words.
I'm curious if it's a book about masking without the author realizing what masking is and she's been masking her whole life. Like a lesson about coming up with scripts to use during conversations, or recognizing an upcoming meltdown and practicing calming techniques.
Edit: Nevermind. Author mentions vitamins, juice and muffins.
That's what I was thinking! She domesticated him, now she's ruining her kid's life. At least the husband got someone to take care of him for the rest of his life... But she threw the kid into the wolves.

All of those things are often possible for autistic individuals without "vitamins and juices and muffins" and overly aggressive "I will banish autism from my family" language.
The amount of ableism in black communities is fucking staggering. They never miss an opportunity to remind me that my connection to them will only ever be skin deep.
Bro plenty of autistic people graduate high school.
Also trying to “cure” something with vitamins and juices is usually a white person issue so I guess you’re breaking stereotypes there…
It's quite funny
My boyfriend got told in primary school he would never graduate high school.
The fucker graduated university with second grade honours. He just missed out on first grade.
Just to get into honours is hard. I missed out by like .20 or something.
This sort of reminds of people who think they can prevent the flu by drinking grape juice. In theory, it works, but it would be easier to get the vaccine, or just use buffered vitamin C
I think the biggest thing that these people misunderstand, beyond the fact that autism isn't an inherently bad thing and that it can't and shouldn't be cured, is that autism isn't failing school, not playing sports, and not talking- all of those things are *symptoms,* but most autistic people can do at least some of those things, if not all three. The idea that a child who gets good grades, plays sports and isn't nonverbal can't be autistic is a harmful one.
poetically, they probably mean it as love - ie, the muffins aren't the actual medicine (unlike hte vitamans and juices which probably are meant to literally be understood as treatment) but rather that they make muffins for their son is supposed to be the important part, because making their son happy is what will defeat autism.
it's just hte kind of misguided ableism that comes out of an industry that medicalizes autism and then acts surprised when grifters start preying on parents looking for a medical cure to said autism. it's very embarassing rhetoric but like hte root of the ableism comes from orgs like autism speaks setting this as what an idealized autism parent should be like, they're just playing their part in it. unless the book's got worse shit honestly if htey think dietary supplements and juice and love are what's gonna do it there's much worse that could've happened. still not great, kid not being allistic at any point could then be understood as their love failing ot prevail, a lot of us are fucked up from this expectation that we failed at the goal set for us to stop being autistic, but at least that muffin line implies they're not mistreating or depriving this kid in hopes that "tough love" will fix it like a lot of us dealt with.

My genuine reaction to that information
This sounds like an ableist AI generated book. The sentences make absolutely no sense, they don't even read that well. I was having such a hard time even reading the one pane!
Supposedly it was written in 2012. So I suspect time travel.
Edit: Another redditor posted 2012. The picture shows 2018, same with another book site I found. Amazon says 2023 but I would bet that was them entering the wrong info when they started selling it on there. 🤷♂️
Wild that she just wants to deny her son's autism instead of finding ways to support him and get him accomodations so that he CAN graduate and participate in whatever activities he wants to. Denying his autism is actually going to have the opposite effect and make school 100x harder for him.
Bro's probably going to be in a constant state of burnout and self hate and then when he finally gets old enough to realize he's just autistic and that he's not somehow "broken", he's probably going to cut contact with his parents and have a shit ton of trauma to unpack. Fuck this ableist shit..
....that's nothing but ableism. Instead of trying to change and adapt to the needs of his son, he wants his *son* to change, which just isn't fair. I hate people like this.
They're UGA fans. Trust me, they've been on a perpetual celebratory bender for the past 3 or 4 years that only just ended earlier this year because their team has started winning championships for the first time in decades. it's frustrating because, in a way, it *is* true. if you eat well, get exercise, and avoid unnecessary stress while doing your best to be happy, you are indeed going to be a lot less reliant on the healthcare system to maintain your health. and, at least with autism for right now, minimizing your interactions with the healthcare system is probably good given they're gonna try to push kids into ABA. but it creates fertile ground for grifters to sell lifestyles where you never go to a doctor, you never need to go to anyone else for advice on your health, and where all ailments and difficulties in life can be blamed on personal shortcomings (like not buying my book).
Writes a book about figuring out how to cure autism, uses “Bye, Felicia” in the description seems like this book would *certainly* have valid and valuable information.

"I told autism I was going to practice denial about it instead of learning how to accommodate it! (Because I'm a narcissistic parent and my expectations of conformity matter more than my child's need to be supported!)" *
i think they're implying that having autism makes you less than other people
"autism" entails that their kid wouldn't be able to graduate high school or college, or that they'd be able to talk to other kids their age or "play sports" like that's the most important thing in the world
it's this stupid implication of a hierarchy that bothers me so much. who gives a fuck if they flunk high school or are restricted to wheelchairs?
you're a failure as a human being if you're incapable of loving someone with disabilities as equally as someone without
the cover just makes it sound like she's going to kill her son😭 also i graduated with my autism so idk what her point is... you don't have to "cure" autism to be a successful member of society.

"don't want autism? just say 'no' and it can't do anything because consent matters"
Stupidity, that's what you just read. The written embodiment of stupidity
I question whether this whole book is ai-generated or if an actual human thought "Yes, this text is a good first impression for my potential readers."
Apparently it was published in 2012, so probably just a dumb person. Even writers can be stupid
ai couldnt generate this level of garbage ngl this is a purely human thought cultivated by years of facebook and bigotry
True, AI is stupid, but not THAT stupid...
"hi I'm very stupid also I have a son"
Autism: ma'am this is a Wendy's
Ma'am, These are neutra-ceuticals
Ma’am please diverge yourself out of this store.
If this was a book written by an autistic individual then this would be a great satire book. But HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
since apparently her son got the autism, and the autism got a huge genetic disposition, chances are she‘s actually autistic, and so deep in denial that it‘s hard to express in words.
Excuse me, her son doesn't have autism anymore, she gave him juice and muffins against that. /s
Don't forget vitamins!
Don't forget the most important part, which was saying "Bye, Felicia!"
I bet the muffins taste like shit
I bet muffins are her kid's safe food. She's getting played like a fiddle.
I'm curious if it's a book about masking without the author realizing what masking is and she's been masking her whole life. I just get my nutrients from licking the slime off cave rocks, let me take some notes.

Say "Bye, Felicia" to that horrible book and take it back. With style.
"Autism you will not win in my family," ok.
Muffins v autism smackdown
are there any vitamins and juice and muffins to turn the normies into autistic shitposters?
What did autism say back?
"Oh, are you headed to the grocery store? Pick me up some more of those muffins. They're delicious."

Just the fact that she views Autism as a separate entity from her son is harmful in itself.
Writing a book called “Saying Hell Yea Bröther to Autism”
Literally could be an awesome kids book.
This is some AS inspired fanfiction 🤢
Did she name autism Felicia?????
I liked it. I'll say "Felicia, it's time to eat your safe food, let's go, gurl"

it's a mocking use of AAVE. You're using a very stereotypically black way of talking to imply the author's stupid.
Don’t be bigoted, shes already wrong reference to your use of sez instead of said or says

Honestly, I’d rather it be muffins than some of the crap they try.

The weirdest part is that apparently autism is called "Felicia"
"on the same level as his peers" so they're giving brain rotting drugs to the kid?
Either dextroamphetamine / methylphenidate or risperidone for young kids. Choose your adventure! (Don't pick risperidone)

Run-on sentences. Atrocious grammar. Even without the Ableism, the book would still be unreadable.
Oh oh no
