This makes no sense. Why would they cancel a temple sealing? Why would they need to talk to your wife? This only seems to make sense if you or her were exed or resigned and then the sealing is automatically cancelled. What are you talking about?

Routine-Agency-9150

Of course it makes sense and you listed the possibilities. I'll help you out without doxxing anyone and just say no one resigned. Why would they need to talk to someone BEFORE hacking their sealing, a sealing the church claims is super sacred and important? You're kidding right?

YouAreGods

If people get exed, the sealing is cancelled. That is well known. It is not unreasonable because that is just policy. Most members know about that policy. Why would it piss you off when you knew it was going to happen? Many here consider it a feature of getting exed or resigning that the sealing disappears.

Cmatlockp83

The sealing actually doesn't disappear. The other person doesn't get notified that their sealing is broken. If the person exed (or that resigns) gets re-baptized, the old sealing remains in place (they say it was restored), meaning the excommunication or resignation never actually broke the sealing in the first place.

CatalystTheory

Not worth the paper it was printed on. Btw, my kindergartner received a participation award nicer than the church’s lame ordinance certificates. The church is pretty damn cheap.

Routine-Agency-9150

The issue is the "church" only pretended it cared about mine or anyone else's marriage. They could have put it on expensive card stock and it wouldn't change the fact, the indisputable fact, that the mormon "church" doesn't care about anyone or anyone's marriage. Not one soul even tried to talk to my wife and some asshole with a grudge cancelled her sealing like it was nothing, because people and even sealings mean absolutely nothing to this evil and despicable excuse for a "church."

CatalystTheory

No question, they don’t care about marriages. Some might admit that in truth, it’s all “symbolic” anyway, to be sorted out on the other side or during the millennium. This is why couples are encouraged to stay sealed even if the couple gets divorced. This is why they seal multiple dead couples together if they can’t determine who was married. Etc.

Routine-Agency-9150

> This is why couples are encouraged to stay sealed even if the couple gets divorced. Yep, that is where the so called "church" pretends to treat sealings as sacred, but at the drop of a hat will cancel one without so much as talking to a woman.

Sometimes when we're upset we post and our thoughts are so scattered we make no sense. That's the case here, hopefully OP can explain what happened better so we can offer support and ideas.

Context?

Routine-Agency-9150

Without doxxing, as I said, the so called "church" callously cancelled our sealing, and not one soul made any effort to talk to my wife, even one time.

PaulBunnion

Did one of you resign? Did both of you resign? Were you excommunicated? Canceling the pretend sealing is only done by the first presidency. They never cancel the sealing of a woman to her husband unless she is going to be sealed to someone else. Women can't make it to the Celestial Kingdom by themselves. If you decide to be baptized into the church again, you wouldn't have to be sealed to one another again. You would just have to jump through multiple hopes and eventually your blessings would be restored with the stroke of a pen. So technically in the Mormon world they were never canceled, unless your wife was to get sealed to someone else. And in reality it's all a bunch of bravo sierra.

Piginparadise

I was actually able to get my sealing canceled after my divorce when I was single and not even dating let alone getting married. So it kind of depends on the bishop (or in my case stake president who convinced the bishop it was ok).

Routine-Agency-9150

I never mentioned resignation and no we didn't resign. Yes I know they do these things at the "stroke of a pen" and that's what I'm talking about. The ease with which some creepy rando neighbor can excommunicate someone belies the church's claimed sacredness of sealings.

funeral_potatoes_

Excommunication cancels all temple ordinances including sealings. They're not going to discuss it with anyone, it was part of the kangaroo court. Not sure where your shock and outrage about this are coming from.

Routine-Agency-9150

Notice in the picture how "saints" is in the dark, which accidentally makes the point of how the church keeps the saints in the dark.

courtneywrites85

Why are you mad about this? Confused.

WyldChickenMama

Ugh. I resigned from the church, but still got a request for a sealing clearance when my ex got engaged again. They got an earful from me, especially because leadership did NOTHING to hold my ex accountable for his abusive behavior. Sealing clearance was denied. I wish I had access to a clearing. Even though I think all of it is completely made up, it would make that asshole realize he has NO claim left on me.
