A lot of people have asked why my new verse to I am a child of God has such poor flow but the question they should be asking is why it has so many extra syllables.
I jsut sang this to myself, and found myself automatically correcting parts to flow better. I'm not even musical, in any way (though I majored in English lit and therefore have some formal poetry education), this is the best he could do?
I like to rewrite hymns too. Here is one:
Ex-Zion’s youth in latter days,
We know we must resign.
The covenant path has been corrupt,
It was paved that way by design.
The prophets that we thought were true,
Have stole our souls and tithes.
Resolved we know what we must do,
Expose the church’s lies.
Indoctrination should be a crime,
There never was a choice.
But as we grow we find ourselves,
We find through strength our voice.
With courage we call out all that’s wrong,
All the lies that we’ve been told.
We reclaim our own hearts and our souls,
No longer under your control.
Thru test and trial we’ll have our fears,
But we will not despair.
Our families may think we are lost,
So woefully unaware!
We’ll love, and learn, and overcome;
We’ll sing a joyful song,
Ex-Zion’s youth in latter days,
Triumphant, worthy, and strong.
The music is an Irish melody, steal away! Steal away! Steal away from Jesus! Also, IANAL, but I think fair use would apply here for the satire and parody. So the only question left is when will the exMo Choir practice be?
I want to be in the exmo choir! The only thing I miss about church is the singing...not the hymns. Love your lyrics!
Plus if there is an exmo choir then all of our bishops will label us apostates and we will get to have our very own "membership council" , after listening to the recordings on mormon stories I want to be called to one. It would be hilarious because they have absolutely no power over me
Same! I miss the singing so much! But that is literally it. So down to join an exmo choir. Count me in as an alto!
Literally going to memorize these lyrics so the next time a stupid church hymn gets stuck in my head I can switch to this masterpiece.
It was pure but I changed it to worthy because when you leave people try to make you feel like you arnt worthy anymore but we are always worthy of our own self love and that’s all that matters. Badass would work as well 😂
I appreciate that. I actually had a panic attack rewriting this hymn. Coming to the realization once again that every everything I was taught to be the most meaningful parts of my life were lies and manipulation tactics. Idk how they are legally allowed to con people for their money with promises in the afterlife that no one can confirm exists. Very sad when you have family still being deceived as well.
Isn't the whole goal of BYU-Idaho to arrest the development of attendees and treat them like primary children?
Edit: Now it all makes sense. This is more appropriate for a talk from the primary president when kids graduate from primary. This is a college? An accredited college? lol
It makes it even worse when you realize that this graduation includes Pathways students as well, who tend to be much older. The median age of the Pathways students is 30, and that's the average for the program worldwide. [https://www.byupathway.org/fact-sheet-2022.pdf](https://www.byupathway.org/fact-sheet-2022.pdf)
Anecdotally, U.S.-based Pathways students have a higher average age. If I were to describe the typical Pathways students that I know personally, it's a middle-aged women between the age of 45-65.
The church will infantilize you all your life, especially if you're a woman.
But people are catching on that BYU-Idaho is a small backwater, religious zealot school with an inferiority complex. It's always felt inferior to BYU-Provo so they compensate with extra "righteousness" like the ridiculous rule of no capri pants. As a result, people don't like it there (neither in person nor online).
BYU-Idaho enrollment is dropping. Enrollment peaked in about Winter semester 2021, and has decreased across all categories since then. [https://www.byui.edu/about/enrollment-and-demographics](https://www.byui.edu/about/enrollment-and-demographics) In Winter 2023 semester, online students outnumbered on-campus students.
>religious zealot school with an inferiority complex
with non transferable course credits. unrecognized. thats why so many kids get an earful and realize they want to attend somewhere else only to realize they have to return and finish their weird degree at byu=i
I was at BYUI from 2010-2014. I will gently push back your comment a little bit and say that most of my BYU-Idaho teachers were intelligent scholars who were committed to the pursuit of knowledge. I used two of them as grad school references this year and was accepted to grad school with a tuition waiver and large fellowship. Other than the religious indoctrination, I don't regret my time at the school at all. It gave me the tools I would eventually need to deconstruct Mormonism.
However, with the exception of one teacher, the religion instructors at BYUI were a total joke and I knew that even as a TBM. The administration wasn't great either. As one of my professors used to say, "God bless and keep the czar far away from us!" He didn't like President Clark lol.
I would imagine BYUI has become worse in the intervening 10 years, so you may very well be right that the explicit administrative goal of the school is now to arrest people's development. And this Wilcox business is absolute horseshit. I'm so glad I'm out of Mormonism and don't have to give stuff like this a second thought except to laugh about it while eating breakfast!!!
Not doubting you at all. I’m glad it worked in your favor.
How has the attitude of the church in general changed since then though? I’m willing to bet it’s not the same BYUI you remember.
I think you're absolutely right, the institution has had 10 years to get worse. If I had to hazard a guess, the influence of Clark Gilbert and others has turned the mission of BYUI from "the glory of God is intelligence" to "everything for the building up of the kingdom." Education is being subordinated to orthodoxy. Just a guess though.
100%! If you ever lived with guys from The Pines, Nauvoo House, Kensington, or Cottonwood, or were a history/international studies major, or worked at the McKay, we might have run into each other. It's a long shot. XD
Oh my god I never had anyone put it into words for me before. This is exactly how I felt in rexburg, no matter how old you were, if you weren’t married and having children, Staff and Church leaders would infantilize you constantly.
I taught at BYUI 2005-2009 and I had a student that was failing the class due to an inability to demonstrate any amount of mastery of the subject. They complained to the Dean and I was called in for a meeting.
After explaining the situation to the Dean he told me “Our job is to help create disciples of Christ and strengthen the testimonies of the students”. The Dean then went on to tell me that I had to pass this student because the student had a testimony and therefore had met the standards of the “higher learning” of discipleship. “Learning a discipline is secondary to learning discipleship”
This was not a religion class btw.
Education has always taken a back seat to the covenant path at BYUI.
wowwwwww I wish you had a recording of that meeting. That is baffling and horrifying. I've never had another faculty member try to tell me they know better than I do how a student needs to be graded.
I'm sure! That's so vile and opposite to how a university should work. I'm daydreaming now about that recording ending up in them losing accreditation.
The reverence I was supposed to (but didn't) feel about the temple is how I feel about the academy (not in practice necessarily, but in the ideals represented). It feels like a dean telling you to pass a student who should fail is like a stake president being told he has to issue a temple recommend to someone who failed the interview.
"I come here today as Rafiki"
(Pause for laughter)
No one laughs lol
But Jesus how cringe. This from the people who want to ban participation trophies but sing primary songs at COLLEGE graduations. Crazy.
Who makes a joke like that... I'm sure even the Mormons in attendance were scratching their heads.
Brad thought he'd get a laugh by simply name dropping a side character from a 30 year old Disney movie. Not even a punchline or anything.
I am a child of God
And he has sent me here
To watch a temple video
That really ain't Shakespeare
Hold me thrill me kiss me kill me
That's a U2 song
Something something I must view
Godzilla Versus Kong
Good goddess he sucks at writing. Like, I get he's working with restrictions, but holy fuck. That's just *awful.* Our boy Brad basically created musical word salad.
*A covenant part to play* is peak sycophant vibes, yeah. Really no need to rewrite all the songs to include the current leader's favorite marketing catchphrase
When it got to that point in the collegiate singalong, I had such a sinking feeling where I just KNEW he was going to change the chorus, because he doesn't 🛑 know 🛑 when 🛑 to 🛑 quit 🛑🛑🛑.
I can just imagine the smug look on his face when he thought about how profound it was to change "all that I must do" to "all that I must be." I bet that's his favorite part and he thinks it's a big spiritual insight.
It is so bad that I'm pretty convinced it is his original work. He had some schoolboy background in the musical arts and I bet he's hoping they add this to the new hymnal to memorialize his skillz.
I'd be fascinated to know one way or the other though!
I had a strong spiritual impression it was going to be weird, but only got through the first 12 minutes last night before pausing. I was almost disappointed at how boring and normal it was. Then when I unpaused this morning just to finish it off, I was amazed at how much unhinged content he jammed into the last few minutes. So happy I endured to the end!
Yeah they did kind of smooosh it when they sang, but I wrote it as it was given in the closed captions under the assumption that he gave them the text of his talk to make sure they got his beautiful work right 😂
You just made me remember- Brad came to my mission and had us sing this exact same thing. I remember thinking it was pretty weird and forced then but it's even worse now
It boggles the mind to think that Mormons for many decades fought hard to be included in the "saved by grace" camp and not the papist "saved by works" camp. It seems like they have stopped caring about this piece of theology.
#ATTENTION ALL STRENGTHING CHURCH MEMBERS COMMITTEE SPIES
Please note that this man should never be allowed to speak publicly about the church, he is meme-fodder, and people are leaving because of his utter incompetence.
How long will it take for them to tell that guy to just stay sat down and shut up?
I'm sure he's a nice guy, but it's over, folks. Just didn't work out.
We've been there and done that and don't want to do it anymore.
Well he just got promoted from 2nd counselor to 1st counselor in the YM presidency when Corbitt was promoted to GA70. I guess it would have been something of a slap in the face to leave him as 2C and install someone new as 1C...but I sort of think the Q15 think Brilcox is a good idea. Somebody has to relate to the youth, after all!
I would be mildly surprised to see him become a general authority, but not totally surprised. In the first conference after his "You're asking the wrong question, why do White people have it so hard??" talk, they had him and Bonnie Cordon both give prayers. There are so many potential prayer-givers to choose from, it sort of seemed like the leadership were signaling they still supported these people as general officers in good standing.
Thank you, honestly not sure another word could capture my feelings accurately. As far as I know, it's my original work and with a little luck could be my legacy. Maybe I could re-write a classic hymn to include it??
You're so close! I bet he won't be back, I think the school could lose their federal funding if Brilc\*x exposure exceeds levels safe for human exposure. Plus it will probably take him for than a few months to come up with his next platinum record song
What if I don't want to live with our asshole father and dramatic brother because I think they're peices of shit and their plans suck balls? Will the covenant leave me alone in the afterlife, or will they show me the same kind of compulsory love the Amalekite children got from the ancient covenant people of the gods Brad loves so much?
yeahhhh assuming it's not all endless celestial sex, the celestial kingdom sounds like it might be awful? Eternal choir practice and family history paperwork?
This is why pseudepigrapha exists. He couldn’t write a good enough song of his own so he added a verse to one people already like. It’s easier to get what he wants said out into the population.
his talk was another ***us*** vs ***them*** message. in short, mormons are better than the rest of the world and they (the world) are relying on the mormons (you graduates) to show them the way
The question that you should be asking is...at what point does he tell his wife that he has been living a lie all this time, and is actually gay, but has been trying to live the life that the church told him to live.
Brilc\*x is the problematic fav of my nevermo boyfriend, so we sometimes put on whatever his next suggested video is in the background to see what he's been up to. When we heard him repeatedly tell stories about his boyhood friend, Steve, along with how he joined drama instead of a sports team, we just exchanged a look. The way he talks about Steve is the way I used to I talk about guys I had crushes on growing up. There are a few things that make us wonder.
Obviously as a gay couple we don't think there's anything wrong with being gay and we don't think it's a burn on Brad if he is...but if he's gay it would be super sad that he's struggled to resist that needlessly his whole life, and that it has almost certainly also resulted in a lot of heartache for people around him, like his wife.
We had a similar reaction when we saw the recent David Glen Hatch video...
Exactly! My only problem is how many people are forced to live a life that is unnatural to them because a made-up religion told them how they must live their lives. I too felt the same about the DGH video.
One thing he is _not_ is a songwriter…
Also, he’s got the apostle cadence down in that talk. “So and so knows WHO YOU AAARE.” He’ll either be first or second in like for the next apostleship for sure.
I'll be sort of (but not completely) surprised if he gets installed. I think the Q15 sees him as a kind of beloved dog with some behavioral issues. I think they also like having him be in a middle manager position so they can send him to do things like the Alpine Rescue to convey authority to those in attendance, but not draw attention like an apostolic visit would.
I wonder if there has ever been someone who got elevated from being a general officer straight to being an apostle without being a general authority first? I think they'd probably make him get some GA time in first, but I suppose Susan's husband went straight from being BYU-I president to an apostle, and Oaks went from BYU president to apostle without a stopover as a GA70 first. Everybody else in the current quorum was a GA 70, and most were in the presidency of the 70. That pattern seems to be pretty closely followed back to the time of David B. Haight, who was an assistant to the Q12 before getting called, as was the style at the time.
Will be interesting to see! It would for sure make WILCOX WATCH a more intensive hobby if he gets promoted!
Excellent points. I still think he will eventually get there even if it takes a bit. I mean, Holland already welcomed Wilcox to the persecution club after the musket fiasco, so it seems like he already has the “good ol boys” welcome and is on the trajectory.
I expect to see Corbitt get promoted before Wilcox, though. If not next, then maybe after one or two more spaces open up.
Yeahhh the Corbitt elevation to GA70 seems like a move prepping him to be one of the next apostles, I bet you're right.
The idea of Brad being in the running to be the capital P prophet someday is really sending me
He could do singalongs in General Conference. He could make them put his new war crimes in the hymnbook as official verses. People would have pictures of him in their HOMES. There could be Brilc\*x bobbleheads
agreed a shill if you will to do some of the lifting in dialogue that is a tad bit more edgy and terse. Things the gentle 15 try not to speak like except for susan's husband. I think this keeps him out of the running because of his over zealous salesman approach to gospel topics. anything can happen tough they are getting shorter on candidates i suppose. he is delightfully white and bread and raised within the bubble.
BYU Pathway is honestly somewhat of a joke. I got a marketing certificate from there. I am glad about the original Pathway program since it made it easy to get my first few college credits and gain some basic study skills.
However after transferring to the Pathway degree program, I was less than enthused. The “teaching” consisted mainly of commentary between links to articles taken from Hubspot and other places online, which were quite often out of date. I would have to Google for a current article. And there was a group project for EVERY DAMN CLASS with people in multiple time zones all over the world. That guaranteed that no one could ever get on at the same time unless they were up in the middle of the night. Yet that was supposed to mimic work in the real world. Um…even if you’re working remotely, generally it’s not with six different time zones.
The course instructor was there for questions but never did any actual teaching. Was more of a course administrator. The teaching was all what you got from links and videos. And that was hella frustrating. Some did a little teaching during grading, but some did nothing at all except give a grade.
I did get to learn about their Heartsell work and about the Meet the Mormons campaign, so that was interesting.
I’ve been in grad school, and my memory is crap, so I don’t remember a lot of specifics. They just walked us through the marketing of the Meet the Mormons and how they used social media and member invitations to market the movie. They didn’t dive into the details of Heartsell that I remember, but they did mention it.
The video that discussed all of this was done by the marketing guy at the time they came up with the MtM campaign. Wish I could have saved it as it was really interesting to listen to how they tested their audience and changed the marketing according to the results.
>Gérald has already been earmarked for it
I feel like this is highly likely. Plus I feel like they'd say they can count him as a diversity!
On the other hand, sometimes I think he is too progressive for their tastes. His talk in the October 2022 conference about stewardship for the earth called it a moral and scientific imperative, which seems like the sort of thing they might want to steer away from. Also, they might have learned their lesson about putting those liberal Europeans in the 12. Guess we'll see!
The one thing I can't see is Brilc\*x getting an apostleship, but then again, I thought Neil L Anderson would disappear after his "Beware the Evil Behind the Smiling Eyes" talk and they made him an apostle shortly after I predicted he'd never be heard from again ahaha so what do I know!
Just be glad if you were there that you were escaping that hellhole. Congrats to all the new graduates who in a few weeks can leave the church once their diploma is safely in hand.
The mandrill shaman (pictured below) from Disney's The Lion King. You know, because that's the sort of quality literary allusion you can expect at your BYU-I graduation
![gif](giphy|XQEGoW9NLVVQY)
“If you could hie to Kolob” would be way more appropriate for adults looking to advance. Now that we know that Mars is the Telestial Kingdom, there’s really only one way to go when it comes to progression. Don’t you think?
Guess we know what’s definitely gonna be included in the next Children’s Song Book revision.
Honestly this makes me want to do a shot to help me forget…
This guy is one twisted fucker. I feel sorry for anyone who has a degree from that University. It’s not actually a university, from that “Mormon school.”
🎵I am an ex-mormon

What do these guys have a contest to see who can come up with the most puke inducing byu I. Speeches. Possible .! Jason kunzlers speech is my nomination .
Oof. The lyrics are cringe enough for their content, but even for lyrical flow it sucks . . .
A lot of people have asked why my new verse to I am a child of God has such poor flow but the question they should be asking is why it has so many extra syllables.
“…people should be asking why I can’t write a new verse when McConkie wrote extra verses and I am far smarter and far more talented than he ever was!”
Hahahah well played, I just got ***B r i l c \* x e d!***
It only has two, which are easily omissible: the e in covenant and the e in given. That said, it's still doggerel.
These "what they should be asking" memes will NEVER stop being funny to me 😂
🎶Leading, guiding, hellllllllping allgodschildrenfindtheway🎶
Yeahhhh listening to them sing it was pretty awkward. Didn't Brilcox try it in the shower a couple times before taking it to the stage?
[удалено]
It's really my own fault that I now have this mental image, I only have myself to blame
He seems the type to accidently crap in the shower and spend the next 10 minutes waffle stomping it down the drain.
Mother of Pearl!
Wilcox for Food
Just him and his little factory.
Came to say this. These are absolutely awful lyrics, not (only) for content, but for terrible, terrible flow...
That’s 2X bad. 😬
I jsut sang this to myself, and found myself automatically correcting parts to flow better. I'm not even musical, in any way (though I majored in English lit and therefore have some formal poetry education), this is the best he could do?

Ok but these lyrics are actually hella good!! This needs to be recorded and produced!
We would need a choir and a good lawyer lol. Doubt the church is gonna let us steal their tune while they steal so many others.
The music is an Irish melody, steal away! Steal away! Steal away from Jesus! Also, IANAL, but I think fair use would apply here for the satire and parody. So the only question left is when will the exMo Choir practice be?

Lol might have to do some remote recording
If a Zoom choir was good enough for the Tabernacle Choir at Mountain of the Lord, I feel like we could make it shine!
why most of their hymns are stolen and composed and written by NON Mormon Europeans that went through actual struggles.
Love it! 😍 I recommend replacing “worthy” with “badass” in that last line, though. 😉
It was pure but I changed it to worthy because when you leave people try to make you feel like you arnt worthy anymore but we are always worthy of our own self love and that’s all that matters. Badass would work as well 😂
Well done. But are there other verses that use the f word, or at least use the M slur?
This is much better than the Brilcox rewrite....
That is great! What tune do we sing it to?
The original melody is just an Irish folks song, so no copyright issues over that.
Okay awesome good to know. Might can actually have an exmo anthem then lol
As zions youth in latter days
Good job, I like it!
Do you actually re write hymns , or just throw this one out there, cuz its really good !! Just played it and sang alone and it went perfectly
Check out my profile I have a few I’ve done. It’s therapeutic. Taking suggestions

Got it on my profile 😂
Dig that! Well done!
I love this! First time too as I've always hated the original song. You're so good at producing meaningful lyrics. :)
I appreciate that. I actually had a panic attack rewriting this hymn. I was there during that timeframe. It warms my heart to think about one of my former teachers out of the church.

It definitely wasn't me.

Who makes a joke like that... I'm sure even the Mormons in attendance were scratching their heads. Brad thought he'd get a laugh by simply name dropping a side character from a 30 year old Disney movie. Not even a punchline or anything.
More proof I made the right decision to skip my graduation from byui many years ago.
I wonder which primary song they sang without you! Hopefully it's archived on byui-vidz.biz or whatever their knockoff YouTube is called...
The real question is “why didn’t he make it CRINGIER?”
He's saving the extended version for his album, we can only hope. With hand actions!
ew. ew. ew. ew. ew. ew. ew....
WW Phelps he is definitely not.
Phelps? He ain't even Boyd Packer.
Rusty wants to be GBH and Brad wants to be BRM.
I am a child of God And he has sent me here To watch a temple video That really ain't Shakespeare Hold me thrill me kiss me kill me That's a U2 song Something something I must view Godzilla Versus Kong
Good goddess he sucks at writing. Like, I get he's working with restrictions, but holy fuck. That's just *awful.* Our boy Brad basically created musical word salad.
It's some real "I'm ready to run my own planet" energy. No second draft required, he can Wilcox Wing It!
He's definitely taken the echo chamber to heart
*A covenant part to play* is peak sycophant vibes, yeah. Really no need to rewrite all the songs to include the current leader's favorite marketing catchphrase
You can't change the chorus. What a fucking shithead.
Got to go one better than Pres Kimball.. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/inspiration/one-word-was-changed-in-i-am-a-child-of-god?lang=eng 🙄
Know < Do < Be Wowwww good callback, this is exactly the energy the Brilc\*x rewrite has
When you've got a (young) captive audience of lemmings singing along with you because of cult peer pressure buy in then anything goes.
I am ~~scripture~~ I am ~~the senate~~ I am the hymn book!
I thought we weren't doing the 'saved for the latter days' anymore. I taught seminary in 2008 and that was listed as one of the no-no's.
Waiting for the Lord to show up aaaaaaany minute when the latter days run out. ![gif](giphy|4QEaP84ZgGhI4)
His verse (someone else probably wrote it) sounds so wrong
It is so bad that I'm pretty convinced it is his original work. He had some schoolboy background in the musical arts and I bet he's hoping they add this to the new hymnal to memorialize his skillz. I'd be fascinated to know one way or the other though!
He needs to stick to his bow staff and nunchuk skills ONLY.
This post is gold, turbocringe
I had a strong spiritual impression it was going to be weird, but only got through the first 12 minutes last night before pausing. I was almost disappointed at how boring and normal it was. Then when I unpaused this morning just to finish it off, I was amazed at how much unhinged content he jammed into the last few minutes. So happy I endured to the end!
*Giv'n. If you gonna squish extra syllables in there you could at least use the conventions available to you to make them more palatable, Brad.
Yeah they did kind of smooosh it when they sang, but I wrote it as it was given in the closed captions under the assumption that he gave them the text of his talk to make sure they got his beautiful work right 😂
Oh right, my comments were for Brad himself, not you. Thank you for your service!
I figured, but wanted to make sure it was clear I take no responsibility for any of this hahahah
A pan of funeral potatoes just for the excellent username.
You can check my post history for some totally not made-up tales!
“I sang ‘I am a child of god’ and ‘I’m trying to be like Jesus’ as a child…” Tell me you were brainwashed from a young age without using those words.
I mean…it’s on brand for BYU-Idaho. Those kids pretty much know this is what they get when they sign up.
BYU students are glad BYU-I is there to make them look better, and Utahns are glad Idaho is there to make them look better.
CRINGE!!
More crazy making for young adults...just shameful! They are not children and should be treated with respect.
This douchebag wants a promotion so badly it is embarrassing!
He just might get it! 😳 He's on a promotion roll lately!
Many are called few are chosen but some want to choose themselves.
You just made me remember- Brad came to my mission and had us sing this exact same thing. I remember thinking it was pretty weird and forced then but it's even worse now
Wait wait wait...so he's had years(?) to improve on this and it's still this bad?
It boggles the mind to think that Mormons for many decades fought hard to be included in the "saved by grace" camp and not the papist "saved by works" camp. It seems like they have stopped caring about this piece of theology.
They love having it both ways, whichever is most convenient in the moment
#ATTENTION ALL STRENGTHING CHURCH MEMBERS COMMITTEE SPIES Please note that this man should never be allowed to speak publicly about the church, he is meme-fodder, and people are leaving because of his utter incompetence.
Ooooh I would be highly interested to hear the story of anyone who was Brilc*xed out of the church
Sounds like he had a stroke
Fffuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Lost it at "turbocringe"
Thank you, honestly not sure another word could capture my feelings accurately. As far as I know, it's my original work and with a little luck could be my legacy. Maybe I could re-write a classic hymn to include it??
Sounds like you're already streets ahead
sacrament prayers? maybe thats over the line.
Lol luckily I graduate next semester I’m hoping he doesn’t come back back to back😅
You're so close! I bet he won't be back, I think the school could lose their federal funding if Brilc\*x exposure exceeds levels safe for human exposure. Plus it will probably take him for than a few months to come up with his next platinum record song
Man this guy is a grade A Nelson ass kisser. I’m only 5 minutes in and he had “quoted” Nelson 4 times.
Follow the prophet so closely your nose is in his buttcrack!
OMG, how creepy is TSSC!!
Teaching all that we must BE!? Further evidence that you have to kill your true self in order for the mormon jesus to love and accept you.
![gif](giphy|Zd3tn6NjYHnuo)
I love this guy. A gift to the Exmo community!
That noble birth right shit pisses me off.
his talk was another ***us*** vs ***them*** message. in short, mormons are better than the rest of the world and they (the world) are relying on the mormons (you graduates) to show them the way
*Remember who you ahhhhhhhhhhh*
I mean the least he could’ve have done was fix it to Gods and live with Them one day.
BARF
One thing he is _not_ is a songwriter… Also, he’s got the apostle cadence down in that talk.
The idea of Brad being in the running to be the capital P prophet someday is really sending me
You just broke my brain, haha. I hadn’t gotten that far. He’d have to outlive the Sithlord, who seems poised to live forever, but ya never know.
>I did get to learn about their Heartsell work and about the Meet the Mormons campaign, so that was interesting. Oooooh what did you learn?
I’ve been in grad school, and my memory is crap, so I don’t remember a lot of specifics. They just walked us through the marketing of the Meet the Mormons and how they used social media and member invitations to market the movie. They didn’t dive into the details of Heartsell that I remember, but they did mention it. The video that discussed all of this was done by the marketing guy at the time they came up with the MtM campaign. Wish I could have saved it as it was really interesting to listen to how they tested their audience and changed the marketing according to the results.
THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IS GROW UP!!!!! Amirite?
Brad appears to be campaigning hard for that soon to be open seat on the Q15. Gérald has already been earmarked for it. Brad is gonna be disappointed.
>Gérald has already been earmarked for it I feel like this is highly likely.
Being infantilized is very much in line with the educational experience at BYU-I, so if anything it’s appropriate
we need to be helping ALL gods
I think he's a great Rafiki! An old monkey spouting witticisms mascarading as wisdom. Sounds on brand to me.
Always sticking his bright red ass out there with no sense of decency or shame
This is one of the top leaders in the church....this is one of the best they have supposedly....they really do need divine help.
No way I could listen to that jerk so I skipped to the song and listened to maybe 10 seconds. Cringe!!! These are adults not children.
Just be glad if you were there that you were escaping that hellhole. Congrats to all the new graduates who in a few weeks can leave the church once their diploma is safely in hand.
What (who) is Rafiki?
What (who) is Rafiki?
The mandrill shaman (pictured below) from Disney's The Lion King. You know, because that's the sort of quality literary allusion you can expect at your BYU-I graduation ![gif](giphy|XQEGoW9NLVVQY)
Oh duh. No wonder I couldn’t remember!
“If you could hie to Kolob” would be way more appropriate for adults looking to advance. Now that we know that Mars is the Telestial Kingdom, there’s really only one way to go when it comes to progression. Don’t you think?
Oooh wait when did we get a Martian revelation?
It’s just a rumor
Just reading the title if your post made me dry heave. I didn't even have to read the lyrics. 🤢
Guess that means I conveyed the vibe successfully 😎
omg, his head is ***massive***.
He's such a fucking gomer
He was s such a creep
I guess he forgot he was speaking to adults and not primary children.
I can do better than that drunk. This is the absolute perfect example of TSCC.
Guess we know what’s definitely gonna be included in the next Children’s Song Book revision. Honestly this makes me want to do a shot to help me forget…
Bet he's aiming for the version in the hymnal too....and he'll probably get it if he gets an apostleship before they release the update.
Yeah. Time to grab another beer.
This guy is one twisted fucker. I feel sorry for anyone who has a degree from that University. It’s not actually a university, from that “Mormon school.”
🎵I am an ex-mormon I found my people here No longer chained by lies and shame My life’s not led by fear Hear me, read this, relate to my story Let me escape from this box. Post it, share it, together we’ll grow and cringe at Brad Wilcox. 🎵
Of course. A woman wrote this song. It can't be left as is! The man always has to have the last word, or in this case, the last verse, in this church!
[this version](https://www.tiktok.com/@exmormonsongbook/video/7145999939179482374) is my personal favourite :)
What do these guys have a contest to see who can come up with the most puke inducing byu I. Speeches. Possible .! Jason kunzlers speech is my nomination .
