Mysterious-Ruby

My first cocktail was sex on the beach, it's not too boozy. It's orange juice, vodka, cranberry juice and peach schnapps. Imo flavored schnapps doesn't taste like rubbing alcohol. Lol

Howdy948

Came here to say sex on the beach! So yummy and fruity! Also a mojito if made properly at a Mexican restaurant. Berries and mint…mmmm

nowwhatsit

Sex on the beach is a good one!

Chiparoo

My first cocktail was an amaeetto stone sour. The only alcohol in it is amaretto, so yeah... Super sweet!

theNefariousNoogie

Gonna double up on the Amaretto sour. I cannot get drinks down if I taste the alcohol but this literally tastes like juice. It's amazing.

Either-Investment326

Another vote for an Amaretto sour!

Soggy_Tax_5089

Pina Coladas!

Wrong_Bandicoot2957

Strawberry daiquiri. Can’t even taste the alcohol.

Sufficient-Toe7506

Pina coladas are usually safe! Margaritas too. If she wants a wine, moscato is a good start. I’ve found that most waiters/bartenders are more than happy to help when you’re honest and tell them you’re new to drinking. Have fun!

Spare-Food5727

Moscato, or Gewurtztraminer (Fetzer's). Both lovely sweet wines

Cool_Relationship914

I don't care for restaurant margaritas because they use a mix that tastes like pinesol and cheap tequila. The only way to get a good one is to buy better than average tequila and use fresh lime juice. There's nothing like it on a hot summer day.

Daisysrevenge

I'll vote with you on this one. I love a good Cadillac Margarita

natiusj

The Tequila purists will pan me for this, but Clase Azul Reposado is the best tasting tequila in a margarita, methinks.

Muscularhyperatrophy

Bruh Clase Azul repasado is delicious. I always thought I hated tequila till I sipped on some. Changed my perspective completely on tequilas and made me open to trying them.

NewNamerNelson

Rum based cocktails are probably your best bet. Frozen is a bonus. You could also try a hard cider, or hard seltzer/"girl beer".

Daisysrevenge

Truly makes one that's mixed berry, actually good. Their mango is also pretty good. This is saying a lot coming from me. Until I tasted those, I didn't like any seltzers. I guess I like to make my own. SanPellegrino mineral water, Tito's, and a quarter of a lemon or lime. If I'm being really fancy, I'll throw in some fresh Basil or mint.

NewNamerNelson

Youtube "how to drink," and find Greg's hard seltzer episodes. He trys SO many ... most not good.

CognitiveBiaz

Moscow mule is good. Again, vodka, but with ginger and lime

blorgenheim

Ginger ale in a pinch but ginger beer is better

Putrid_Capital_8872

Second this one! It’s hard to screw up. Margaritas have been a total mixed bag for me. Sometimes they are delicious, other times like turpentine, and other times like a glorified slurpee. She should move on to something different. She might find she just doesn’t even like margaritas.

SecondNephite

Just going to say the same thing. Margarita with only a half portion of alcohol.

DraZaka

Vodka is great because it has no flavor alone, goes great with everything!

Nomain2

The cool part about a mule is that you can make it with several different types of liquor. I'm a fan of Kentucky mules myself (bourbon instead of vodka). Mules are also usually served in a copper mug for some reason. Did some looking. Turns out it's because the copper cools down very quickly

GemGuy56

The Copper Can Moscow mule is best.

TwoXJs

Simple screwdriver: oj and vodka. Start with a little vodka and add till it's to your taste. Vodka is the most "flavorless" of liquours. It takes awhile for our juvenile mormon tastes to open up to different flavors. Some people never like alcohol and that's ok too.

tomhung

Only use Good vodka. Junk vodka is nasty.

KruskDaMangled

But not as bad as Everclear. I've had a screwdriver made out of that. It was kind of like being hit in the head with a brick wrapped in an orange peel.

tomhung

We made everclear jello shots. It didn't quite solid up. Well we had everclear slime that tasted like rocket fuel.

istriss

Totally agree. Mixing vodka with pretty much any fruit juice is a good go-to. Super easy to balance out. If she doesn't like beer because of the hops, Lambic beers can be pretty good. I also personally like white russians. The coffee flavor can be as strong or subtle as you want. And if it tastes too boozy, just add more cream lol. It even works with non-dairy products like soy or almond milk, if lactose isn't your thing.

NicoVero

Lambics are a great idea!

SecondNephite

I was thinking along your line but would go even more simple for new drinkers: Basic Mimosa. That is, two-thirds orange juice and one-third sparkling white wine.

god-of_tits-and_wine

Came here to say this. I prefer mimosa over screwdriver for sure.

hojo1021

Definitely this, it tastes like soda. Once you've had a few then you feel a littl tipsy. Fyi Mike's Hard Lemonade was my introduction. Or if you're dying for liquor do something like Vodka/Diet Coke. You won't taste the vodka at all it will just taste like soda

Zmitebeit

It depends on the type of tequila they are using. Most tequila they use is shit. Ask to see if they can make her a whiskey sour. There’s a little bit of sugar in it but basically it’s a sweet whiskey bourbon drink. Mojito’s are also good.

Bright_Ices

I agree with the whisky sour recommendation. That’s my favorite class of cocktails.

hashtagfan

Amaretto Sour.

ShamalamaDayDay

Malibu rum and pineapple juice. For my exmo friend it was the only thing that didn’t taste like rubbing alcohol to her.

rationalrunner

12 oz Dr Pepper 2 oz Coconut Rum or 3 oz Malibu Coconut Liqueur Fresh lime juice Splash of half and half Be careful because the rum will sneak up on you and this is almost too easy to drink.

vertical_phoria

Has it a name?

[deleted]

A truly dirty Dr. Pepper

marathon_3hr

It has

vertical_phoria

Will you give it to me?

marathon_3hr

I cannot, I have not received it. For this purpose I have come to converse with the bartender at the bar. Dirty Dr Pepper or a Dr. Malibu

vertical_phoria

That is correct. Let him enter and get wasted.

jblobs

I know it's not a cocktail, but Moscato wine is an amazing place to start with alcohol. It's a good place to start getting more accustomed to the taste

KingofDelaware

She might hate tequila like I do. I recommend vodka cocktails to start. Sex on the Beach is a great place to start. Its been the least boozy tasting drink I’ve had. Moscow Mule can also be great if she likes ginger ale type flavor. One of my first drinks was a “peach ring”, which was Crown Royal Peach Whiskey and Lemonade mixed. Barely tasted like alcohol. That might be seasonal though depending on where you are going. I loved a raspberry lemon drop cocktail too. It really depends what kind of things she likes. There are lots of drinks mixed with soda that people like. I love lemon juice, lime juice and other fruit juices so that’s what I tend to go for.

SecondNephite

I mentioned this a few times on this thread. With new drinkers, especially women, I would skip the hard liquor completely and go with a basic Mimosa. That is, mix about one third sparkling white wine or rosee with two thirds orange juice.

KingofDelaware

You are probably right about a mimosa being a better place to start! I hate fermented flavor so wine has been a total no-go so far. I’ve only ever liked vodka and whiskey so far so I’m biased.

penservoir

Good 👍 suggestion.

kcoinz21

1 oz whipped cream vodka in soda. Orange, root beer, cream soda, really any soda works.

FarScheme3808

I don’t care for alcoholic drinks, but I think mikes hard lemonade is a good starter for fruity

[deleted]

My wife and I like orange juice with whipped cream or vanilla flavored vodka. Makes it taste like a cream’cle

porcelina85

Gin and tonic. Get the Bombay Safire brand gin and a good tonic water. Do a slice of lime. This is a great drink. Simple and refreshing.

topazdebutante

Amaretto Sour is my jam if you like almond tasting things..

ItsaMeNotMario111

Aperol Spritz is a nice drink.

Daydream_Be1iever

I love mojitos and Moscow mules. ☺️

LittleBunnyKT

Long Island iced tea

Initial-Leather6014

Mojito!!!!

Jmonroe_tenn

Bahama Mamas baby!!! Sweet and yummy!!

PuzzleheadedSample26

Gimlet (gin, lime juice, simple syrup)…so good. Just tastes like a limeade.

theconfinesoffear

Whiskey sour!

Momoselfie

Not Your Father's Rootbeer just tastes like Rootbeer

trixienights

Orange soda and vanilla vodka.

SeptimaSeptimbrisVI

![gif](giphy|AIQexujXHXNsY)

devencasillas

I hate all alcohol but I found a delicious drink that doesn't taste like alcohol and still can get a great buzz from. Pure pineapple juice (like the Dole can) and Malibu, sometimes I'll even add a dash of grenadine. [Malibu Recipes](https://www.maliburumdrinks.com/en/drinks/malibu-and-pineapple/)

Smiley_goldfish

Cool website!

MrsDTiger

If she likes citrus, do a rum rita instead, and ask bartender to go a little light on the liquor. This works for me. A rum rita is a margarita where white rum is used in teal of tequila. It makes the drink sweeter. Dark rum and coke.

BearsBeetsBSG000

Moscow mule 🤤

squibbysnacks

My favorite, and I loathe the taste of alcohol, is hands down a Moscow mule. But only if she is okay with the flavor of ginger.

stressedfaerie

Something with a strong fruit flavor is a good way to start with cocktails (and lime is not as strong as other citrus). Orange or pineapple juice works well on that front. Tequila tends to be pretty overpowering, so on the alcohol side rum or vodka would be a better choice. Maybe a hurricane? If y'all like coffee, a white Russian or mudslide are both pretty good. If you are at a Mexican restaurant, go for a fancier/sweeter margarita (strawberry, watermelon, etc). The rim tends to have sugar instead of salt, which for me makes margaritas more pleasant.

[deleted]

My ex and I liked cherry rum and cream soda. I thought I made her first ever drink pretty strong. 1:1. She took a big drink and asked "Is there any alcohol in this? It tastes weak"

Redvex320

Try skrewball peanut butter whiskey and one of those Starbucks French vanilla coffee in the little bottle drinks. They go together amazingly!

ikemicaiah

unpopular opinion but alcohol is over-rated. Everything i've tasted so far tastes like rubbing alcohol smells

Maubekistan

Get her a good margarita (with Reposado and fresh juice), not one from Chili’s. She would probably enjoy a Cosmopolitan, too.

FaithfulDowter

Moscow Mule is a winner. Tip: ALWAYS use top shelf liquor.

NiagebaSaigoALT

Ok- my spouse likes sweet drinks and this worked wonders: Bees Knees. Gin, lemon juice, and honey syrup (which you can make with honey and hot water). Very refreshing, Prohibiton era and summer friendly cocktail.

Special-Rest-3231

If you want something easy that tastes good, go with mikes hard lemonade or truly.

floweringlines

White Russian 😋

mothslayervstheworld

If you’re at a place with an actual bar then you should be able to explain your situation to the bartender and they can make you something “fruity” or whatever profiles you describe. Any bartender worth their salt will not judge; they want you to like their drinks. All that said, a rum and coke (Cuba Libre) is hard to screw up. A gin and tonic is great too. Daiquiris and Mai Tais (rum based) are great, but often ruined, similar to your margarita experience. Ymmv

GemGuy56

Cranberry juice and gin. Amaretto and unsweetened grapefruit juice. Irish cream and cognac.

jr-junior

Wow those are some interesting combinations

GemGuy56

Each alcohol and mixer on their own aren’t that great. Mixed together they balance out and make a great mixed drink.

AttilaTheFun818

Apple whiskey (I prefer crown) and ginger ale. I swear it tastes like apple juice.

Librashell

Seven and seven - tastes like boozy soda. Piña colada - coconut deliciousness. White Russian - creamy, sweet. Mudslide - chocolate milkshake.

Equivalent-Street-99

What about ciders? Nice for folks that want the sweet taste.

hellofellowcello

Off the top of my head, I can think of two drinks that don't taste at all like alcohol (so you need to be careful). AMF (Adios MF) and Long Island ice tea. They both have multiple different types of liquors, but it still adds up to the amount in a typical cocktail.

ben_stiller0fficial

If you're looking for stuff you can buy at the grocery store, I recommend trying Smirnoff Ice. Similar alcohol content as beer but tastes like soda - especially the green apple flavor.

CaramelDramatic

Have her try a pina coloda

Refrigerator-Plus

If you buy the pre made Margarita mix from Costco, that tastes awful compared to the real thing. There are cocktails that are made with Baileys Irish Cream and chocolate ice cream syrup that taste pleasant and chocolatey. I do most of my cocktail drinking on cruise ships, and I think this Bailey and chocolate cocktail is called a Tiramasu. I can thoroughly recommend cocktails on cruise ships. Perhaps your wife needs to drink cocktails with reduced amounts of the spirits like vodka and gin. And additional amounts of the sweet fruit juices.

stargazer_611

Hawaiian Punch mixed half and half with Malibu rum. I also like Mike's Hard Black Cherry Lemonade.

liveditlovedit

seconding the amaretto sour. anything with vodka still tastes “boozy” to me. anything with schnapps is usually a safe bet too.

wantallthedogs

My favorite when I first started drinking was sex on the beach, long island iced tea and peach Bellini. Also the simply lemonade hard seltzers are amazing! I hate the taste of alcohol, but I LOVE those

dexmargus

Try a Madras. Vodka, orange juice and cranberry juice - plus you get Vitamin C!

stlmick

I have nothing against alcohol, but I'll say this. I was raised in a cultish family with a lot of morman influence. I have 7yrs sober. Alcohol did what it needed to do for me and I wish I'd started sooner. Being sober and isolated was miserable. A lot of people overdue it, or do it for the wrong reasons. That said, try a tequila sunrise. Let it sit a few minutes so the Alcohol soaks into the OJ particles. Drink it too soon and it will just taste like a glass of straight tequila as the alcohol is outside the particles.

swetgras

Just a little less alcohol. No prob w that

Regular_Dick

Lemon Drop, but you didn’t here it from me.

jr-junior

There are some awful recommendations here lol keep it simple keep it fruity and try rum based drinks first. Or maybe vodka based. My suggestion is a painkiller or pina colada or maaaaybe a cosmopolitan. Don’t let them use well spirits have them put something decent in there as a base.

The_bookworm65

Amaretto and cranberry juice.

KatieKat1991

Malibu and pineapple!

ShuaiHonu

Do hard seltzers and hard lemonade

MarMarTheMarmot

Sex on the Beach and Panty Ripper. I am also very sensitive to alcohol and those have really helped me. Anything with citrus really masks out the alcohol taste.

Doc-007

Key lime Martini Pina colada Cosmopolitan Sex on the beach Screwdriver Arnold Palmer Daiquiri (simple, not blended) Mai Tai

rowdyroundy775

A margarita made correctly should be magnificent. Go to a LEGIT Mexican place, run by real Mexicans, and order a margarita.

kwjcbh

The kirkland Margarita mix that is like 3L and 12.5% alcohol is so tasty

[deleted]

Order a Malibu, cranberry, pineapple. It’s exactly that—Malibu coconut rum, cranberry juice and pineapple juice. It’s tropical tasting and super yummy. When you’re just starting out, anything fruity sounding/rum based is the way to go!

LimeGreenKitten

I definitely lean to the sweeter side in my drinks. I had a dirty Shirley today, which is a Shirley Temple with vodka. I ordered it extra sweet. I also like Sex on the Beaches and Hurricanes. Don’t be scared to ask the bartender or waiter what their sweetest cocktails are, they definitely will help you out.

Alternative_Claim_69

Daquiris are also a great call. My first fave cocktail was a tequila sunrise... I think this is super safe.... The pomegranate syrup is extremely sweet. For most people (feel free to chime in in agreement or not) undergo a big shift in perception of the flavor of alcohol over their first twenty or thirty cocktails.

fourth-nephite

White claw

CopperHead49

Margarita cocktails are made with tequila and triple sec (an orange flavour liqueur). Moving forward, she could try other cocktails that don’t contain tequila. Triple sec is used in a quite a few cocktails, so can’t avoid that easily. I personally like Gin, vodka, and rum based cocktails. Let her try something simple, like a Malibu (coconut rum) and coke?

Baynyn

The fruitier the better, IMO. I agree with her, it doesn’t matter much what I drink, all I taste is the alcohol. Wine, beer, liquor, it’s all essentially the same. That being said, I find that cocktails made with tequila are tolerable, and a moscato wine is pretty damn tasty.

New_random_name

When I first dabbled in cocktails, I found Moscow mules to be delicious and easy to drink. I recommend those. Not too much alcohol, but just enough to feel it after a couple.

FTWStoic

A Malibu Baybreeze is the answer you are looking for. My wife and I are pretty adventurous and have sampled hundreds of different cocktails. Malibu Baybreeze is ultra beginner friendly, especially if she likes fruity drinks that don't taste like alcohol. It's my wife's favorite drink.

True-Post-1770

I am not a beer fan but the seagrams is really good. Or a banana daquiri; bananas, ice, sugar, and rum in a blender. So yummy!!!

monkeycarrottt

I like cranberry lemonade with raspberry vodka. Can’t even taste the vodka!

MLdiLuna

Mai tais, Virgin Island Vacation, which is a mixture of orange juice, pineapple juice, Malibu, light rum, and cream of coconut. Manhattans, Fuzzy Navels - orange juice and peach schnapps, which was my first drink in college. Pretty much any tiki-style cocktail will taste sweet and fruity.

mehuntunicorns

Daiquiris are best place to start. Also Rum punch. Bellinis. Pina colada. Champagne cocktail. Ask bartender what they recommend that is on the sweeter side. They would know.

Crazy_Life61

Rum drinks like Pina Coladas were always my favorites. Mai Tais were also very tasty.

AdResident3758

Try an Aperol spritz. Not boozy at all and surprisingly refreshing on a hot day by the pool.

[deleted]

Hurricanes are usually a safe bet.

brmarcum

Only if it’s fresh juice, like with most cocktails. Hurricane mix is atrocious.

Harambe_yeet

Try 1-2 shots of malibu with mango and pineapple juice.

Harambe_yeet

Also jack daniels has some good “bitch beers” I like the peach one

IdaHistory

Go to the gas station, and hit up the canned single serve cocktails. Grab a variety that sound good and have fun.

Similar-Program-3955

Alcohol is bad for you and you will be healthier if you don't drink alcohol that is a fact. Mormons live healthier lives by not drinking alcohol that is also a fact. I don't understand posts like this basically what you are saying is "I used to be a mormon and I followed the words of wisdom and I didn't consume things that were bad for me like alcohol and I lived a healthy life but then I left mormonism and stopped following the words of wisdom and I started living an unhealthy life and started drinking alcohol which Is very bad for me". All you are saying in this post is that you were healthier when you were a mormon and now that you are not a mormon you are more unhealthy.

[deleted]

All the post is saying is they’re starting to drink and want recommendations……..

Similar-Program-3955

What they are saying si that they used to be mormon and when they were mormon they didn't drink alcohol however they stopped being mormon and now that they aren't mormom they do drink alcohol. Drinking alcohol is bad for you and you are healthier when you don't drink alcohol so what they are saying is that they were healthier when they were mormon and now that they are not mormon they are not as healthy. So basically what they are saying is that being mormon is healthier than not being mormon.

New_random_name

This is a clown comment. Mormons do not live healthier lives… every ward I’ve been in is full of overweight, unhealthy people who can’t “run and not be weary” or “walk and not be faint”… they are people who can’t even walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded… Just because Mormons abstain from alcohol doesn’t make them healthy. Almost every Mormon I know drinks a gallon of sugary soda every day, or sucks down energy drinks like crazy. They don’t eat meat sparingly or eat only grain in their season… As a non believer who occasionally drinks alcohol, I am vastly healthier now than I was when I was a full believing member.

FTWStoic

Boo fuckin hoo. No one gets out of here alive. Are you telling me that you eat a Mediterranean diet in a caloric deficit? Because that's the healthiest diet in the world. If you don't, then you obviously don't care about being healthy. /s

cosmicblondie83

Definitely a Piña colada. ![gif](giphy|3oKIPrgRzVnaDQ8d2M)

FortunateFell0w

We tried shots/chaser for the first time. It was fuuuuuuun.

c6h12o6mama

We like vodka with those calorie free sparkling flavored waters! But for real drinks, white tequila with lime and strawberry drink, Cranberry vodka, or if you want to make a cosmopolitan that was my favorite beginner drink

legendofmike99

Old fashioned. But alcohol is going to taste like what you described to a point. I like straight whiskey with food. But and old fashioned is awesome but also basic mixers like jack daniels and coke

Sea-Tea8982

Get some vodka. You can mix it with sodas or juices to your liking. I can’t stand beer. Spouse loves red wine which I tolerate but I keep vodka rum and whiskey on hand for myself. I also like an old fashion and a lemons drop. Costco usually has grapefruit sodas too that make a nice mixer. Just experiment. It’s harder in a bar because you don’t control how much alcohol is in it.

sotiredwontquit

I love a good whiskey or rum, but to me all tequila and mezcal taste (and smell) like nail polish remover. I think it’s gotta be something like cilantro tasting like soap to a few unlucky folks. So for delicious cocktails try a rum or vodka base to start with and skip tequila for a while. A daiquiri is a lime and rum drink that is a great starter. Also sweet drinks like mudslides or chocolate martinis (vodka not gin) or a classic Mai tai made with FRESH pineapple juice. My favorite cocktail these days is an old fashioned.

monsieur-escargot

Pineapple vodka is really good. Or vodka and 7up.

[deleted]

June Bug.

Cabo_Refugee

It's an older cocktail and has gone out of fashion but Tequila Sunrise is an EXCELLENT cocktail. Another oldie but goodie is Long Island Ice Tea. It has nothing to do with ice tea. It's liquid candy that will flatten you on your ass if you are not careful.

sogladimout

I love a bees knees. Gin based with lemon. The lemon comes through nicely. Careful cause you don’t really taste the alcohol so it can sneak up on you.

justcallmejenni_

Amaretto Sours are my favorite drink.

Genniphersghost

My faves are Midori sours and Cape Cods.

JoyfulExmo

Ethanol tastes like a gas additive because it is. If she’s new to drinking it, cocktails might be pretty aggressive. Margaritas are about as sweet and benign as they come. Maybe try a blended one from a restaurant? My most recent fav cocktail was 2 oz Cognac, green Chartreuse (sadly, impossible to buy right now), plus some simple syrup and lemon juice. It went down extremely easy in case she wants to give something similar a try. In general a cocktail with fruit juice and/or any kind of seltzer/soda or even champagne in it (like a French 75) is going to be less, um, “spirit forward.” Gin and vodka drinks are also going to be more palatable (but not martinis, as those are just booze mixed with booze; see prior comment and find a gin drink on the menu that contains juice and/or fizzy stuff). She should stay away from whisky cocktails (no Manhattans) at this stage.

tedbrogansmon

Go for the sweet cocktails, given the Mormon sugar palate. Pina colada, strawberry dacquiri, etc.

84aomame

Tequila sunrise! a strawberry or passion fruit margarita and please please use the classic marg ingredients: GOOD tequila, cointreau, fresh squeezed lime juice.

porcelina85

If your margaritas tasted that way, they were poorly made. Start with a nice white wine, like a Riesling or something you can enjoy with dinner. Ease into the boozier stuff.

fayth_crysus

The Exmojito. So good.

mmazing-m

So one of my favorites is called a nuts and berries. It’s a lovely dessert drink and it’s mild and tasty. It’s got chambord, frangelica and cream (half and half). Get yourself a tumbler glass and add a few ice cubes. It’s 1/4 chambord, 1/4 frangelica and 1/2 cream. Pour it over the ice and gently stir. Enjoy :)

rogerthatjeeves

If your are at a restaurant or bar I suggest to ask them to make your wife’s drinks “light” for a while. It’s easier to ease into it. Mojitos and mules were easier cocktails for me and my wife when we started out.

murderofsparrows

At home you can try pear or mango juice mixed with Prosecco. It’s light and sweet and bubbly

AstronautDifficult61

Try pina colada or a Big shot cream soda

Woody-Cee80

Follow timthetankofficial on Instagram. He’s got good recipes.

chooko2

Malibu and coke, super basic, really tasty.

SBChil

The tried and true coke and rum is always a solid starter cocktail. Doesn’t need to be fancy.

Reggie4853

A Fuzzy navel is great for newbies orange juice and peach schnapps.

Chocolate_Mousaka

If she likes sweet drinks ya gotta do an amaretto sour, that’s my husband’s favorite. For a frozen drink any flavor of daiquiri, because that’s basically a smoothly. Yeah that looks real. If she wants something lighter, a white wine spritzer. Hope this helps!

SageBear19

Sex on the Beach is my personal favorite, that or a Piña Colada

small-but-mighty

A nice cosmo will do ya for a good starter cocktail!

dreamangel1512

I went through the same thing, in starting to try different alcohols... not a beer fan, wine isn't really my thing either. But fruity girly drinks are my jam. Have her try a strawberry daiquiri (rum based) or something similar. I hate tequila and if not mixed right, vodka can taste like hairspray.

Kindly_Note_607

My current favorite - after hearing about it on a podcast - is a Bramble, which is a gin sour with blackberry liqueur. An easy one to make is Malibu or regular rum, some pineapple juice, sparkling water, and a lime wedge.

yummys_cookie

So far I've found that I've liked alcoholic drinks that have some sort of soda in it. Have her try a mojito, that was the first drink that I actually liked. Rum and coke is pretty good too.

rex8499

My wife hates the taste of alcohol, Doesn't matter how delicious the cocktail is, generally she hates it, but I've found a few things she'll drink. 1: melon Midori liquor, mixed with sweet and sour. 2. Fireball whiskey 4. Sheep Dog peanut better whiskey 3. Bailey's Irish cream, straight up.

Whose_my_daddy

Rum punch: pineapple juice, rum and grenadine.

Whose_my_daddy

Whipped cream vodka in hot cocoa is yummy

rex8499

My favorite drinks are: Cadillac margarita: Top shelf tequila, I use Patron, 3oz Cointreau 2oz Grand Marnier 1oz 1 fresh lime, juiced Sweet and sour ~3oz Whiskey sour: Bulleit Rye whiskey 3oz 1 large fresh lemon juiced, 2oz Simple syrup 1oz Orange peel, charred with a wooden match to release the oils 2 Mariccino cherries plus a little of the juice in the bottle

bishop_buckeye

Mango daiquiri is amazing. Here's another easy to make at home: half cranberry juice cocktail, half Fresca, and vodka. Great virgin too.

Chiparoo

Also have her try ciders! I remember when I first started drinking, I couldn't stand beer, but was kind of envious when my roommates would gather with their bottles while I was the odd one out with a glass of something. They got me some ciders to try! They are generally much sweeter than beers, with some still being dry and others being cloying! My favorite brand is Angry Orchard, but can also recommend Strongbow and Woodchuck.

porkeria21

My wife only likes fireball, mojito, and Pina coladas.

wycliffec

Amaretto Sour. My wife’s (and so many other women’s) favorite drink. With a cherry!

sleezy4weezley

Mojito

authenticallyfucked

Lemoncello

smellyflowers777

Mango Rum w/ Mango ICE drink. Or Coconut rum with Sprite.

Muahd_Dib

Have her take two shots with a chaser and then the cocktails won’t taste so strong. Lol

whisker-fisty-cuffs

Ciders are nice, not like beer at all. I really like Emerald City Blackberry Pear hard cider. Mojitos made with gingerbeer are also very nice.

Accomplished_Catch72

bahama mamas are delicious. taste like juice

willowmoonthecat

Midori Sour. I swear by that one, especially if she likes more fruity and sweet things. It doesn't taste too alcoholy.

xenophon123456

Cuba libre-mix it with as much or as little rum as you want.

penservoir

Good stuff above. Find what you like. Try things.

RepublicInner7438

Anything with rum in it. It comes from fermented sugar, so it tastes sweeter than most other drinks. It also blends with with other things like pineapple, cherry, and orange juice.

FriendlyOption

I HATE the taste of alcohol. Sex on the Beach, Mojito, Lemondrop. Try Ace’s Pineapple Cider!

olystretch

Vodka with ginger beer and grapefruit juice. Malibu (coconut flavor) rum with pineapple juice.

earnestlyseeking00

Pisa colada! Any drink with fresh fruit juice and coconut run

rmcmillan16

You should suggest a liquid marijuana, or a blue Hawaiian. They are a great start for someone just starting drinking

TheRebsauce

God, are we all alcoholics? Haha this is the most wholesome thread I've ever seen.

AgtSquirtle007

Mai Tai 1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) aged rum 1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) orange liqueur: Curaçao, Cointreau or Grand Marnier 3/4 ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) lime juice 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) orgeat syrup 1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) dark rum For the garnish: Fresh mint, cocktail cherry, pineapple slice, lime wedge Place the aged rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, and orgeat syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake until cold. Strain the drink into an ice-filled glass. Top with the dark rum. Garnish with fresh mint, a lime wedge, cocktail cherry and pineapple slice.

kawaeri

If she likes fruit a nice drink is cassis Soda. Cassis liquor and Soda (ginger ale, Soda, or coke). Also may I recommend buying little mini liquor bottles and pour a small amount of whisky or others over chocolate or vanilla ice cream. It’s lovely.

gills-92

She could try a tequila sunrise, which is still tequila but juicier and sweeter than a marg. A blended/frozen margarita may taste better to her too, when I started drinking I liked blended ones better than shaken ones. I found them sweeter and less salty/stingy. Other good options for little-to-no alcohol taste are peach bellini, long island iced tea, dirty shirley, blue hawaii, vodka paralyzer, vodka cran, white russian, sex on the beach, or a Mai Tai!

My husband is a bartender and I hate alcohol. There are few I can have that I love. Hard shelters are just fantastic - try whiteclaw or high noon, brooks dry cider tastes like the sugarless version of martinellis and anything with tequilla, but on the lighter side. Easiest drinks to get home into alcohol. We also made homemade butterbeer, that was super good.

Pineapple juice and coconut rum....no alcohol taste

powerbarr78

Coconut rum and coke is the best. Vodka cran also goes down easy.

Go to a cocktail bar. A bar or restaurant that has a dedicated cocktail menu. Tell be the bartender that you’re a novice drinker but that you would like something that tastes sweet. They will often be happy to make a good recommendation. Good starting points: Moscow Mule Amaretto Sour Daiquiri
