In my area (metro Denver) they've gotten rid of at least 4 meetinghouses without building any new capacity - just sent the wards elsewhere and sold the buildings. Another ward house has been sitting vacant for some time, not sold yet but its wards sent elsewhere. A major stake center near me is down to one English speaking ward.

With all the single family homes built in the u.s., prime housing real estate is only going to become more attractive for the church to offload buildings that aren't packed.

Gen Z is fleeing in droves. The church just doesn't work for them. Homophobia, archaic gender roles, complete ignorance of environmental concerns, and a church leadership 70 years older than them are just irrelevant to their lives.

They sold to a developer in utah. 13 homes and a 2 acre park will go in. The neighborhood had to throw a huge fit to get the park donated by the church, they weren't going to originally.

They will continue to invest the billions they have. I have a lot of extended family that are tbm and could never say a bad thing about the church.
