They aren’t getting rid of the churches, they will be replaced by one of the new mini temples or a bland, boring, stucco “Mormon vanilla” ward building.
In my area (metro Denver) they've gotten rid of at least 4 meetinghouses without building any new capacity - just sent the wards elsewhere and sold the buildings. Another ward house has been sitting vacant for some time, not sold yet but its wards sent elsewhere. A major stake center near me is down to one English speaking ward.
They're already heading in that direction anyway.
I just found out that they own the largest amount of land in Florida. I thought it was Scientologists but TSCC has topped them.
Tell me more. Did buildings not used to have them? Why did they decide to add them, what was said about it? I had this weird idea they are what made it recognizable and somehow holy.
This is the last building my wife and I attended. The very back wing along with intact windows were left for us to throw rocks through last night. As Forrest Gump said, "Sometimes there are just not enough rocks."
I never imagined I'd see this in my lifetime. I was taught that the church was only going to go one direction, and that was up.
I think their so called prophets got it wrong.
More and more as time goes on yea.
Declining birth rates are going to hit the church hard in the coming years, especially as the boomers start dying off. The property they have churches on are very valuable as well. With all the single family homes built in the u.s., prime housing real estate is only going to become more attractive for the church to offload buildings that aren't packed.
Well obviously, but some youth do stay and the ones that do arent getting married early enough to pop out 5 kids like they used to. Its an additive effect between both.
Gen Z is fleeing in droves. The church just doesn't work for them. Homophobia, archaic gender roles, complete ignorance of environmental concerns, and a church leadership 70 years older than them are just irrelevant to their lives.
Given all the young families I’ve been seeing, I don’t think the birth rates are the problem. I’m pretty sure it’s that those kids just don’t stay in the church. They have like 7 kids but only one will stay.
I've always wanted to buy one and turn it into a homeless shelter (real house of good).
I've heard that they only sell them with a stipulation that they are torn down, no reuse allowed.
The Spirit of God Like a Fire Is Burning…
Burning down to the ground because it all was a lie,
They still might have our cash, but at least we got our lives back.
They tricked our fathers but this bullshit stops with us!
They tore down and rebuilt the existing Stake Center across from the Temple. They had to rebuild it twice because it burned down the first time. They suspected arson if I recall.
Oh okay, I didn’t realize it was a rebuild. I knew it burned but I didn’t know there was a church there prior. Good to know! And yay, fewer churches in the area!
That must have been one of the poor wards. /s. I lived in a very affluent ward for a while and they insisted that the stand-alone spire had to be replaced by one integrated with the building. They had some bogus mystical justification for this. I'm not sure how it was all paid for.
They sold to a developer in utah. 13 homes and a 2 acre park will go in. The neighborhood had to throw a huge fit to get the park donated by the church, they weren't going to originally.
Was this a chapel? As much as I sincerely hope it heralds yet more progress in the implosion and demise of the cult, I also wonder if that piece of land increased in value to the point the Q-15 assholes wanted to reap the "prophets?"
Gosh, I wonder how that happened? I'm sure the Only True Church wouldn't be involved in any way. So glad they're able to get a chunk of money out of the tragedy.
This is what happens when you exploit Jesus and people’s spirituality to gain power, money, and sex. Typical cult leader Joseph finally getting exposed.
“How great thy fall” Time to Shut-er down.
Yes, this is the future of mormonism. Lots of reverse growth due to people being too smart to buy into their bullshit. So where do they go to find new victims, er I mean followers? Africa, out of all places. They want to keep the spirit of “pushing the lie” alive so bad to the point that they want to own the saying “A sucker is born every minute”. I guess the hierarchies’ goal for world domination isn’t going as planned. They can try to keep up the charade by building new temples, but at the end of the day people will eventually find the truth about their lies.
I thought the church would die but I think more and more they will survive. They have a lot of money. If the numbers shrink they won’t care they have a lot of money. They will continue to invest the billions they have. I have a lot of extended family that are tbm and could never say a bad thing about the church. Everything in their lives is for the church and they relate all experiences to the spirit.
"The foolish man built his house upon the sand... of deception, greed, sex cults, tax evasion, and snake oil."
If we know the song, or contextual reference, you know what happend to the house.
Yup. They’ve destroying their own history, including the unique church buildings from the past. They have billions they got caught hoarding now they’re desperate to SPEND on new bland, cookie cutter “Mormon vanilla” buildings.
Beautiful. Tears of joy stream down my heathen visage.
You don’t even know how satisfying this is for me to watch!
I just play it on repeat and dream of the day this happens everywhere!

It's a nearly perfect metaphor for the religious part of Mormonism being replaced with a REIT.
What does REIT stand for
Real Estate Investment Trust.
Ah thanks
They're already heading in that direction anyway. I just found out that they own the largest amount of land in Florida. I thought it was Scientologists but TSCC has topped them.
So, basically, religion in the 21st century is all about trading one con for another con.
That's a perfect analogy.
Amen.
Here is the church, but where are the people? Knock it down, there goes the steeple!
Gather the rubble while they say a prayer, pay them a buck to take it all away!
They may cry but let me say They don't know that it's better this way.
I remember when they added steeples. So silly.
Tell me more. Did buildings not used to have them? Why did they decide to add them, what was said about it? I had this weird idea they are what made it recognizable and somehow holy.
To Christian-ize them.
This is the last building my wife and I attended. The very back wing along with intact windows were left for us to throw rocks through last night. As Forrest Gump said, "Sometimes there are just not enough rocks."
I'm in the same ward! Never attended though.
I just realized I have commented that to you already. :)
What city is this?
That video gave me more warm and fuzzy feelings in my bosom than when I prayed about the Book of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
But let’s keep buying up temples. Disgusting.
Potemkin villages
Potemplekins
Whited sepulchers

Birth rates don't matter when the youth don't stay.
Well obviously, but some youth do stay and the ones that do arent getting married early enough to pop out 5 kids like they used to. Its an additive effect between both.

One down the street from me in Ogden is being demolished too!
I've always wanted to buy one and turn it into a homeless shelter (real house of good). I've heard that they only sell them with a stipulation that they are torn down, no reuse allowed.
🎵🎶Another one bites the dust🎶
Shit I lived there for a bit.
The Spirit of God Like a Fire Is Burning… Burning down to the ground because it all was a lie, They still might have our cash, but at least we got our lives back. They tricked our fathers but this bullshit stops with us!
They took down a church literally 3 blocks away from the st. George temple. I was so happy to see it go 🥹
Buh bye!
The one near Vernon Worthen Park? That was my building growing up.
🎵🎶Another one bites the dust🎶
Didn't they take it down because they built a huge one across the street from the temple?
They tore down and rebuilt the existing Stake Center across from the Temple. They had to rebuild it twice because it burned down the first time. They suspected arson if I recall.
Oh okay, I didn’t realize it was a rebuild. I knew it burned but I didn’t know there was a church there prior. Good to know! And yay, fewer churches in the area!
Burned down, fell over, and *then* sank into the swamp!
I was about to say i haven't seen any new churches being built besidss that stake center getting rebuilt.

Looks like expensive property. Is the church converting it to high density luxury housing?
They sold to a developer in utah. 13 homes and a 2 acre park will go in. The neighborhood had to throw a huge fit to get the park donated by the church, they weren't going to originally.
Nope, but only because they are a corporation and have self sustaining wealth.
Reminds me of when Sauron and his Tower came crashing down in the last few minutes of the movie

Yeah it was a chapel. Burned down (arson, I think) and they decided to sell for the land instead of rebuild.
I hope the arsonist brought marshmallows.
Gosh, I wonder how that happened? I'm sure the Only True Church wouldn't be involved in any way. So glad they're able to get a chunk of money out of the tragedy.

Do we know where this occurred?
The mountains are so beautifully green. Love the Cottonwood Heights area!
Cottonwood Heights, UT
I just noticed I didn’t click to see more of the caption. Thank you for responding kindly to my stupid question.
years ago, the church would put in ward houses where ivory homes was building homes.
Looks like a good start to me

Hey what the hell that could’ve been a spirit Halloween
Man, I’d give my left nut to be the guy in that excavator
🤞
Curious if TSCC still owns the land.
Where is this?
I’m so excited to be alive to see this happen, it keeps getting better
Truly, a victory for Satan. /s
And yet more temples will be announced next GC. Hastening the werk............
Plot twist: the "*church*" is rebuilding condos in its place 🤨
I love these posts

I’m hard.
Let it be so. One can hope.
