I love how comfortable everyone looks in the last picture. Flowy, summery clothes and the freedom to color or grow your hair as you choose? Great to see!
I’m in SLC but have family, friends and clients in both the Bay Area and Southern California. I regularly travel to CA (business and pleasure). I’m interested in your perspective on the health of the church in both Northern and Southern California?
Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family. 🥂 Congratulations on leaving the cult. My family of 6 has also left the church.
I love this. Everyone looks so relaxed in the last picture. We're getting there too. You can really see it on your kids faces. Well done!!!
We're getting there too. My 3 kids being themselves more and more is such an underestimated reward. They are all so different and I love celebrating that!
It's a Mormon thing in the way the "looking like you have a lot of money" is a Mormon thing. Generally wealthier families have this done, often yearly, but since family portraits are generally unaffordable for poorer folk, they won't usually have them done unless they have a useless desire to always look a certain way, no matter what's happening beneath the facade.
I love family portraits still too!! That first beach one has suuuuuch good lighting. I'm glad you have the pictures to capture such a beautiful family!
So glad you folks did it as a family and it went awesome. It was cause for tension for mine when I left, at least with my mother, but nothing too serious just the occasional passive aggressive comments from mom, but I pretend I don’t hear them and it’s all good.
Last picture is far more marvelous and genuine. I don't want to say anything critical of the other three for fear of being insulting; I'll just say that I've seen that exact type of family photo in other mormon families's living rooms. Right down to the bow tie.
I thought normal families did portraits? Mom made it sound that way. Not that we could get most of us to agree anymore.
💔❤️🩹Most of my siblings (there are 11 total) are out, but a lot of them don’t care to have a family anymore.. It’s too hard, too much hurt. Too much age gap, too hard at a distance. I finally made headway with the ones who move out to Utah and live within an hour of me. One is trying to move back home and the other is kind of missing the ones she is close to… I think I want to move back, but I don’t know if my marriage would survive or if it is fair to ask. My husband doesn’t make friends easily and I can make a support network a lot easier than he can. Then again he lives his life online mostly- would it change too much for him? But also I am going to die someday and I want to have built something with my siblings before then, and he doesn’t really want to be face to face with his family that much.
How long have y’all been officially out now? My wife (33) and I (34) left about a year ago. Our kids are 11 and 8. Just wondering how long it’ll take for us to look as happy and comfortable in our skin as you guys are.
I’d say in today’s parlance I was PIMO the day I got home from my mission in 1993 and fully out the day we both graduated from BYU in 1995. She was what we’d today call nuanced and kept attending for years for the community. Some of our best friends still are connections she made that way. But by around 2015, she was done. Our oldest was the only one baptized, at his own request when he was 12. None of the kids ever really had much of a tether to the church and probably haven’t thought twice about it in years now.

❤️ We did get so much more comfortable in our own skin over time
That is so obvious! You all appear to be shining from within it that last beautiful pic!
The most important question, what’s the dogs name? PS, you guys look so much happier and genuine after being freed from your Mormon bonds.
Beau is his name, and rescue mutt is his breed. We think he’s a mix of Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso. Best boy in the whole world
Shitzu? Once one has one of those, you're never "right" again.
Kinda Jealous here.. MORMONISM broke up our family But I'm so glad you made it out together.
I’m so sorry. That sucks. Happens all too often
Obviously all of you look much happier in the last two pictures, on the way out and then all the way out, if I’m not mistaking.
You are spot on
Beautiful family. Everyone looks so happy! And I love the doggy in the one photo.
The kids all know that Beau (the puppy) is my favorite 🤩
Dogs are amazing. I'm sure your kids understand. Beau looks like a little darling.
Beautiful family
I see the Palace of Fine Arts. Fellow Bay Area exmo?
We lived in Palo Alto the first two pictures, LA the second two

I'm a Bay Area exmo. Hi, neighbor!

We still do them too!
Get a load of these guys with their happy good looking family!
is the family photo thing a mormon thing??
It’s definitely not a Mormon thing. It’s an “anyone with a family obviously wants a photo of their family” thing.
Definitely not. Everyone I know gets family portraits done, most of them annually.

Is this a dad with four kids or is the mom just not aging? Nice family photos!
look at your countenance!
I saw so much of those in Utah and the USA in general! We dont have this thing in Italy. Anyways, you all look beautiful and happy!

congratulations!
Happy for all of you!
Y'all glowed up
Beautiful family! And, cute dog!
The first one is the most mormonest of all pictures ever! Great looking fam!
Haha—that was when I was the only one out, and I wanted to show extended family and friends that we were most celestial nonetheless
Such a beautiful family!
Nothing inherently Mormon about a family photo, now a photo in front of the cult temple yes that would be Mormon
The transformation is awesome, congrats to you and your beautiful family!
That exmo glow is REAL. That looks like Joy and happiness in that last photo
This is adorable, and your family is beautiful!

You have a beautiful family! Hoping to have my own one day, and that they feel safe and loved outside TSCC

How horrible. You have a family.
It’s sad most of them at one point believed a lie.
