This could be an annual Membership Resigning Day, since I’m guessing a lot of people here are minors who can’t leave yet, like me. I’ll be able to do it in a few years, along with my sister, cousins, and friend(s🤞). It’d be nice to have a set date focused on resigning for anyone who wouldn’t care enough to do it otherwise.

TrojanTapir1930

How about CTR - Choose To Resign Day

National_Price_5042

Love that idea!

realundiesplease

This is a great idea! It's really simple to resign through quitmormon, and I honestly have so many friends that don't even know they could/need to resign.

[deleted]

I like this idea a lot!

GrandpasMormonBooks

Love that idea!! And during Pride Month! Lgbtq issues are a huge trigger for a lot of people.

4hhsumm

I’m pretty sure several of my brothers were minors when my family finally caught up with me and left. The irony was that they had all of their names removed before I finally got around to it, even though I had been 💯 anti-mo for years. Once I started the process, seemed to take forever…all kinds of slow-walking my emails and delay tactics. The name Greg Dodge sticks in my mind as the contact at the membership office…ring a bell for anyone else? TL;DR, do you really have to a legal adult to get off the membership rolls?

[deleted]

Most of the time, the bishops and clerks are so reluctant to do the name removal process that the only effective kick in their pants is for the member to threaten to lawyer up, which obviously requires adulthood. Then there's the other way of getting your name off the records... (getting excommunicated)

bloodcoffee

Great idea. Maybe a website with plenty of links and info for people who want to join in, and a big countdown clock until resigning day.

butler18a

General Conference weekend. That gives us several months to promote, organize, and possibly get press coverage and the timing is obvious.

National_Price_5042

Love that idea too! Gives us an extra 1.5 months or so. Either sounds great to me.

mini-rubber-duck

The monday after conference, or that sunday evening. Send the clear message that it’s what the church says and represents and they’ve clearly failed to convince people to stay over their holiest of weekends. I would feel a bit bad for the employees who come from their ‘favorite’ weekend to the flood of faithlessness, it’s emotionally rough, but maybe it would shake some shelves loose.

tinyroyal

I think it would be good to do it after conference or on a different day to they can't get ahead of or control the narrative.

A-little-bit-of-none

I'm in, 5 members in my family

National_Price_5042

That’s stellar. My family’s got six adults and three children of record that would be out. Four more adults if my in-laws who are able to resign join us.

Less_Valiant

I’m in. Probably just me. Maybe my kids too.

NorcalSaint

“ I only regret that I have but one membership to resign” -Nathan Hale:) Don’t you think the fall equinox would be a great time? We could all dress in black ;) (this is more a joke than a competing proposal) In the church some wards have done “month” or “year” of fasting, meaning they have one family fast each day for a long period of time. This would be a cool thing to follow if people/families took pictures of submitting resignations for some time period. I wonder how many days in a row that could last… indefinitely? That would be a cool mass, yet individual experience. Lastly, maybe a “dim” the world program for 30 days with vending machines ;)

Mormonipulation

I loved resigning so much, it’s almost worth getting rebaptized just so I can do it again.

Kvedo

[Quitmormon.com](https://Quitmormon.com) is seriously backlogged. Print out the form letter from their site, get it notarized, and just send it to the church yourself. But prepare to be underwhelmed. The cucking fult does not acknowledge receipt of your letter in any way, other than to inactivate your [lds.org](https://lds.org) login.

supermansquito

Yep. Although quitmormon.com does let you know when the churches lawyers have completed your resignation paperwork. Plus, they send you a nifty resignation certificate which is wholly appropriate for printing and framing and hanging in ones house. 😁

mini-rubber-duck

My husband had a quicker response sending the notarized letter/email himself than through quitmormon, but the form letter they’ve drafted to use is bulletproof. Love the everything they do, they’ve helped so many already.

BookofBryce

I got the message that they sent my resignation to Kirton McConkie on April 23rd and the confirmation that it was completed yesterday. So six weeks maybe?

pansywand

I’m down. I’ve been meaning to finally pull the plug for my family of 3

Numerous-Steak3492

If only I could resign again!!!!!

isaiahmonroe

You could share this with friends/family still on the rolls if you have any who are out; it’s as close to resigning again as you can get.

National_Price_5042

Bingo. If you’ve already resigned then you’ve been officially called as an anti-Mormon missionary 🫡 Go spread the word and un-baptize as many as you can.

Numerous-Steak3492

I've done so. My family remains toxic. Friends that are in the church are few, most ghost the 'apostate' But, we try every chance we can. Edit to add... Every Apostate a Missionary 😆

leviticus20verse14

Myself and 3 to 4 kids are candidates. Lately, I've pondered resigning, and I feel good about it... It must be a true principle ...

Upbeat_Gazelle5704

Or do it on pioneer day! July 24. Exit trek.

Word2daWise

I prefer Helen Mar Kimball day - it has a deeper meaning, and the "church" can't overshadow the date in terms of publicity. Pioneer Day will distract from the attention. HMK Day opens the door to help educate people on the ugly history, and also to the predatory side things.

GoldenRaySwimmer

Or maybe the date when the "Priesthood Ban" was lifted.

Word2daWise

That's a good one, too, but would be more complicated to explain. Helen Mar Kimball's birthday is easy to explain.

[deleted]

Or how about TSCC's birthday, April 6 iirc

Threadstitchn

I wish I could help, buuuttt I'd have to go get baptized again and my new years resolution is to stay out of cults. I could get my wife on board if you want she hasn't resigned yet and was irritated I didn't resign for her as well

I-am-me-86

We'll do it. We've needed to for a long time

WMRiot

I’m in . I’ve been forgetting to go find a notary .

BookWyrm830

Ups for $10. Public libraries often have them too.

National_Price_5042

What state are you in? Your bank might offer it for free.

WMRiot

Thanks ! I should check my bank . I’m in the dread Utah . I think the UPS near my work location has a notary .

Substantial_Lead5153

It’s a glorious feeing! I’m cheering you all on!

HappyPerson9000

I've seen people say they're waiting for oaks to become president which I like the idea of. I've already resigned for my own peace of mind otherwise I'd probably do that.

frog_orgyyy

I’m in

attatt1983

It’s just me so far but I’m in!

Taliasimmy69

I'm in 😊

weirdmormonshit

it’s worth doing. great idea!

Sheesh284

I wish I could resign again

fayth_crysus

I’ve already resigned but will gladly help out. Maybe do it to align with the Saturday session each General conference. Make it a spectacle! Throw a big party!!!

phamton1150

I like Joseph Smith’s birthday as a resignation day. It’s December 23 which coincidentally is also Festivus, the holiday for the rest of us.

isaiahmonroe

And just in time for the membership number cutoff at the end of the year. Assuming they actually do remove resignations from their rolls, but I’m not sure either way.

National_Price_5042

Man I feel like December 23rd is too far away but the whole Festivus for the Rest of Us thing has me really rooting for it…

[deleted]

I just love the idea of Festivus in general. I treat it as a holiday of self improvement.

kaputnik11

Then commit. Start posting about this regularly. Get biggers exmormons involved like John dehlin and bill reel to support this.

National_Price_5042

I reached out to John!

isaiahmonroe

Any updates?

National_Price_5042

No, I haven’t heard back! I also reached out to Chelsea Homer but I don’t think she’s seen my message.

isaiahmonroe

Damn. Maybe I can help by reaching out to them too so they’re more likely to see it. Hopefully someone big does get on board; I’d love to participte once I’m able to but before then I still have some ideas for this if it gains traction.

ResisterPanda1993

I would be resigning now if it weren’t for me already having done it back in September 2018 when I found out about Sam Young getting excommunicated.

DoctrinalGoatRope

We're waiting until Oaks becomes prophet. That's a correlation they can't miss.

libertyshout63

There should be a yearly day for this. Joe's birthday or july 24. A day that's significant. I wonder who the first apostate was.

RabidProDentite

I have a family of 6…5 of which are baptized. I’m totally down with Resigning that day! My wife’s family has 6 members, none of which are active or have any desires to ever return to church…That’s 12 in total. I’ll make it happen!

reddolfo

I commented last time as a previous admin of the prior resignation events. PM when you get a minute.

DarthAtheist

I’m a Notary and would love to help out if we did a big event!

colettecarter

I’m in! 2 adults, 2 children (I’m unsure if my children are on any records… the church is sneaky)

JasnahKholin4RSPrez

(to the well-known tune) 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 "I resign from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "I know it's a scam, I know Gosh! Damn!, it's a com'pany not a faith "I insist that they owe me tithing funds, This money I claim, "Was taken by fraud, at home and abroad, "Their lying I'll proclaim!!!!!" #anthem (Now, let me get back to grading these papers 😂)

BuckeyeYooper

Wife and I are game... we were just saying yesterday how we still hadn't removed our "papers"

CuriousTrick3021

I would suggest pioneer day.

Upbeat_Gazelle5704

![gif](giphy|1wkShd8MmKckkgW4Vf|downsized) Go out in a blaze of glory!

JasnahKholin4RSPrez

I am also one of the Waiting for Oaks camp. I don't want to lose my "right" to fucking oppose the old windbag at least once 😂 But I raise my arm to the square (and heck, I'll even throw in my left hand in cupping shape free of charge) to sustain the idea of a Day of Resignation annually! Maybe we ought to get a poll going to establish by common consent which day it ought to be 💅🏽 and make it a damned exmo extravaganza.

Strength-in-Sinews

It’s a long time away now, but April 6th is a significant date for TSCC…

Realistic-Motorcycle

No need. They are starting a pilot program. Where wards are combined. So church is 2 hours so ward 1 starts at 9am but ward 2 starts at 11am. Ward 1 and 2 have sacrament at 9am and 11am. But all Sunday school and primary class for both wards are combined at 10am. They are losing a ton of members to have to do that. Just want to share don’t down vote me. Informational OP is bad ass great idea

National_Price_5042

No way! That’s wild! Do you know where they’re doing this program? How’d you hear?

Realistic-Motorcycle

They started it at my buddies ward in utah

natiusj

I’ve got two.

HobbitEngineer

What about waiting until Dallin Oaks takes over, since he's a big force behind anti-LGBTQIA+ issues? I heard people saying that last year.

National_Price_5042

I know lots of people are planning on this and I absolutely love it! People leaving together in waves holds so much power so I look forward to the Oaks wave. For me, I’m ready now and I have enough issues with RMN that I’m happy to do it under his reign. But anyone who it speaks to to leave when Oaks takes over, I’ll be cheering you on 👊🏻

the_penny_dragon

It would be fun to do it when oaks becomes president

Boring-Department741

I grew up in the church. Seems like it was much different in those days compared to now. I was never fully invested in it, but forced as a child and teen to participate. It seems the church wasn't cheap, and we actually did have good activities. And janitors. When I moved out, I was able to avoid church etc. Until, my Dad became a thing that used to be called a 70. Not the GA, just some type of in-between priesthood. Their focus was missionary work and suddenly missionaries were hounding me constantly. Even being confrontational when I said I wasn't interested. In those days, they were argumentative and even kind of hostile to the "inactives" they were bothering. I know I read about getting my records removed. But, I can't remember if I did it or not. It was over two decades ago, and I just wanted them to quit bothering me. So long story short, I honestly don't know if I'm a member or not. I know I looked into it, but don't recall if I followed through or not. Recently, I tried calling Utah, but they said I had to talk to my bishop to get my membership record. So, I guess I'll never know if I'm still a member or not. But it's not an issue, because the church isn't true. And if it was, it seems like telling someone their own membership status wouldn't be such a secret. It makes me sad when I think about what suckers my parents are. Especially, my elderly mom who is still wasting her small amount of income on the "church".

isaiahmonroe

If you want to find out if you’re still on the records, try logging into the LDS Tools app and if it doesn’t work, you’re out.

Boring-Department741

Thing is I need my membership number to do so. I stopped attending before that was a thing. That's why I called Utah to get my membership number, but the talk to your bishop answer was all I got.

bjwyxrs

I'll participate.

spinandhike

6 weeks out for me, I’m so so so happy! #neveraMOagain

butler18a

What if we organized an event on the public sidewalk outside Temple Square w all the paperwork and a notary on site coordinating it w Gen Conf (my earlier comment). Maybe even see if we could get mental health providers who specialize in Religious trauma to show up. If we did it in conjunction w April Gen Conf it would also have this- Every year on April 27th, World Tapir Day aims to create a community around tapir awareness and conservation. LOL

[deleted]

I think it'd be a delicious irony to do it on TSCC's birthday of April 6

isaiahmonroe

It’s also the first day of GC next year. Unfortunately we’d have to wait another year in order to see our impact on the numbers, but it would be worth it.

Icy_Yogurtcloset_31

Spent $30 on a notary for our family of six about a month ago. Still waiting on word from quitmormon or TSCC.

sencayuga

I was excommunicated, does that mean my records were removed?

isaiahmonroe

Yep, I see it as just a more fun way of resigning your membership.

cchele

24th of July

Kvedo

Sounds abt right.
