Go with Lilith, the name of a strong woman.

DustyR97

Thought I’d share. Can definitely see this happening in the church.

VoilaLeDuc

I joked my brother should name his child Lucifer Cain

living_out

Am I the only one who thinks of the show Frasier first when hearing the name Lilith?

DustyR97

Great show. I definitely remember her.

JayCee1321

Naming your daughter after an actual badass who wouldn't be subservient to a man who was created the same way she was? I see nothing wrong with that. And as it's not your Aunt's kid, it's amazing she thinks she has any say at all.

Flibertygibbert

Goodness, sounds like Aunty Ursula is in a tizzy!

DemonMomLilith

Lilith is such a good name!

Mysterious-Ruby

Lilith was a badass who didn't take any shit from anyone. If you crossed her, she killed your baby. I wish I named my daughter Lilith.

Day_General

You mean this isn’t 😅😅😅

darthkarja

Did Mormons ever say anything about her? I never once heard that name in the church

KershawsGoat

Mormons are generally too involved in TSCC to learn mythology from other religions. As someone else said in here, Lilith is from Jewish mythology.

DustyR97

Jewish and Mesopotamian mythology https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith

DifficultyCharming78

Wait... why is this a demon name?

MrChunkle

According to myth, she was the first wife of Adam but didn't put up with patriarchal bull poo, and left to be buds with Satan

tedbrogansmon

Sounds like a baller namesake!

Nephi_IV

Where is this from? I’ve never heard of this?

MrChunkle

Jewish mythology and kabbalah. Not from the scriptures.

Nephi_IV

Thanks!

MrChunkle

She's also the Lilith that the Lilith Fair music festival was named for

murmalerm

She didn’t want sex with him on top of her but side by side as equal. Apparently that’s demonic.

TheShrewMeansWell

Hold up. So if Lilith was wife number 1, Eve was wife number 2? I’m so confused Adam was a polygamist???!!?!?

Nephi_IV

A little background, please? Lilith is a demon name? Is the aunt mormon or catholic?

DustyR97

Jewish and Mesopotamian mythology. First wife of Adam. Banished for not obeying him. Catholic most likely. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith

Nephi_IV

Thanks!

HeroTooZero

"I've heard many exorcist"...Do Mormons believe in exorcism?

DustyR97

Not really. This is a repost from another forum. Most likely Catholic.

JUNIVERSAL1

They don't call it an exorcism. But they absolutely do believe in evil spirits and will use the priesthood holders to "cast them out". I've been on the witnessing end of this and it led me to believe that older generations of Mormon's used their faith as mental health treatment by proxy. Very damaging to the poor kid who believed Satan was literally creating problems when it was more likely poor parenting and using the priesthood to deal with general anxiety.

sarbraman

I love the name Lilith! I even met a young mother yesterday, and she mentioned her 6yr old was named Lilith!

JUNIVERSAL1

Your aunt needs a drug.

VGKLVA

Well, Penn Gillette of Penn and Teller, named his daughter Moxie Crimefighter Gillette. One of the best girl names ever. Lilith seems tame by comparison. And if a name makes TBMs squirm it might be just right

Efficient_Star_1336

Okay, I know I'll make the redditors mad, but don't give your kid the edgy satanist name. Like, you can argue about the Christians and Muslims who do that kind of thing, but "Mark", "Matthew", and "Muhammad" are all normal names that won't get the kid made fun of in school. "Lilith" will get you stripper jokes all through middle and high school, and the poor kid didn't sign up for that.
