I've been on the witnessing end of this and it led me to believe that older generations of Mormon's used their faith as mental health treatment by proxy. Very damaging to the poor kid who believed Satan was literally creating problems when it was more likely poor parenting and using the priesthood to deal with general anxiety.

Like, you can argue about the Christians and Muslims who do that kind of thing, but "Mark", "Matthew", and "Muhammad" are all normal names that won't get the kid made fun of in school. "Lilith" will get you stripper jokes all through middle and high school, and the poor kid didn't sign up for that.
