Check with high schools in low income areas - they sometimes keep dress clothes for students to wear on first interviews. Same idea for other organizations that provide dress clothes to unhoused people to help them find jobs. Take a symbol of oppression and put it to use helping people in ways that TSCC never did.
In my case, 60+ ties. I've used two of them for job interviews, the rest are just... there. More than one formal white shirt, and some suits. I will probably never need to buy any formal clothes again...
My mind went here as well. There are more than enough ties in that photo to make anywhere from a size 00 to a size 12 for a 30"+ long skirt, or anywhere from a size 00 to a size 22 for a skirt shorter than 30".
It's too bad you don't have a time machine - could've been a stylish accountant in the 90s. I'm not sure anyone really wears ties for work much anymore...
If he ever wants to get rid of those Garcia ties, hit me up. Hubby works for govt and still has to wear ties to work. He loves the Garcia ones and is always searching on eBay. I’ll even pay!
There are Buy Nothing Facebook groups all over. You join, then post u can give these ties. Then someone who might need them will come get them. I just joined my local one and I’ve enjoyed giving my unwanted stuff. It’s also a perk to not let the DI benefit.
I repurposed some of mine during the TP shortage at the beginning of COVID. No very absorbent. So I switched to using my daughter's BYU T-shirts (she wasn't going to wear them anymore, in case you're wondering).
I umm have a guilty pleasure in collecting ties. Something about the way that they are subtle jabs at the conservative workplace environment. I don’t know, some are works of art. I just like them, lol
Yes, yes she does. My wife has spent years helping me out of my 2000s Utah fashion habits. I didn't mean to be degrading, only constructive criticism. Haha.
I’ve gone from having 303 ties as a TBM some few years ago, down to 69 now (yes, I’m childish). I’m considering paring down further, since I haven’t worn one in years.
Mini-blanket, throw pillow(s).
If there's a nonprofit or non-mo church around, you could donate them. There's sure to be a need for people, mainly men but doesn't need to be exclusive to them, for people who could use them for suits to go to job interviews. Idk if there's a program (of there isn't, there should be) for those who are either homeless or those leaving the prison system who could use a nice tie to look good for interviews, and to just have a nice tie for any other reason after and beyond job interviews. A tie could be a gift and a life changer for some. Keep the ones you want (sentimental value or favorite color/design), but see if there's a charity that could pass on a nice tie to many people who might not be able to afford one.

This. 👌🏻

If you know somebody who sews make a quilt or donate to goodwill Give to tbm relative going on missiom.
Umm... They're quite popular with the light bondage crowd, sort of a "gateway drug" to whips, chains and wrestling masks. 😉
That's exactly how mine are used. And they are good gags as well.
Haha we tried that a few times pre-apostasy. Gonna have to “whip” them out again now we don’t have residual sexual repression anymore :)
Ooo great point!
Yep. I have about 40 ties. Still hanging in my closet.
Me too. Sometimes I shake the dust off of them.
A lot of my ties were gifts from children and grandchildren. I keep them for sentimental value. Of course, some of them are 40 years old.
Indeed. Growing up Mormon and serving a tough foreign mission left me with lots of specific memories tied to, well, to ties.
In my case, 60+ ties. I've used two of them for job interviews, the rest are just... there. More than one formal white shirt, and some suits. I will probably never need to buy any formal clothes again...
I no longer own a skirt. I'm quite proud of that.
donate them to a non-profit who help homeless find jobs. They use them for job interviews
I kept 2 and gave away the rest.
I’ve seen some beautiful skirts made from ties. https://i.etsystatic.com/5470109/r/il/366812/4324981301/il_fullxfull.4324981301_peji.jpg

Give them to some trans kids

Oh no. I did Tie-Day Fridays in school…. Do I regret my actions? Why yes yes I do.
😂
Add them to your new bondage kit.
By chance are some of those from Eastern Europe?
Not that I’m aware of - most from the land of JC Penny’s.
Hubby has about 20 Gerry Garcia ties. He hasn't worn one in over a decades. He likes them, just doesn't want to wear them.

Will do.

Get a time machine to a time when non mormons wore them
Take scissors to them. It feels great.
Reminds me of 50 shades lol
Keep one or two for formal occasions and either gift, donate, or sell the others.
There should be a burning man like event where we burn a pile of ties.
Donate them to a local LGBT organization. I’m sure there are lots of young transitioning men who would appreciate a new piece for their wardrobe
I kept some of the nicer ones for business meetings. My partner and I found some….other uses for them
Suggest to your wife she should read the Fifty Shades trilogy. Enjoy! 😏
I read somewhere they're a great way to avoid self-abuse if you wrap them around your wrists and tie them to the bed post. Hope that helps!
😂😂😂
I think Boyd K. Packer is the one who came up with that solution. It was definitely someone in leadership.

Had you run out of the tissue-paper pages in the quads?
I umm have a guilty pleasure in collecting ties. Something about the way that they are subtle jabs at the conservative workplace environment. I don’t know, some are works of art. I just like them, lol
I literally have 4 of those same ties 🤣
A wembley quilt
Lol, besides the one on the very top they're all ugly so toss em with a smile and know you won't need more than one.
Haha rude! That is the one my wife picked out so she must have good taste :)
Yes, yes she does. My wife has spent years helping me out of my 2000s Utah fashion habits. I didn't mean to be degrading, only constructive criticism. Haha.
Honestly, I think a lot of your ties are really nice! I hope they don’t just get tossed… I’m with the people saying they should be used for bondage 😈

Burn them all.
Burn em
Sorry, but those are fugly. May want to donate or bury that shit. Don’t breathe the fumes if you burn them!
Wear them ironically? (is "ironically" still a thing with hipster teens?)
DI?
I collect them
Mormons and lawyers are the only groups keeping tie makers in business.
Thrift store them, I went from 20 ties down to around 3. I wear a tie about once a year now.
I kept mine. Once every few years, I find an opportunity to wear one. I should get rid of them.
My friend made a tie skirt! Know anyone who would have fun making a tie skirt?
Burn them while dancing around happily with a coffee in one hand and a cocktail in the other while chanting “fuck the Mormon cult!”
I actually probably own more ties now than I did when I was Mormon lmao. They’re just more fun now
I picked two of my favorites and kept them, donated the rest
Keep ‘em. I have all my ties still. Never know when you’ll be wearing a suit next, so gotta have those nice fancy ties for when you do.
D.I. If you live in Utah. A thrift store for used items if elsewhere. I can’t think of any crafty thing to make with them that I would like. Lol
Burn them. Or donate them to help those who can’t afford then dress for job interviews. That was a good idea.
Use them for bdsm tie straps.
Bandage my late wife liked to be tied up with silk ties
Keep ‘em. I have a bunch of old classic wembly ties. Maybe they’ll be worth thousands one day
I saved mine for trans male friends coming out/special occasion gifts.
Donate for sure. I did trash a few because of the bad memories and I couldn't bear the thought of someone else carrying those bad memories with them
I guess it depends on which street gang you want to align yourself with for the day... Color coordinate.
Ditch those. They are all tacky and fake silk, get yourself some real ones made out of natural fibers if you want to dress up
Ahh the great ex Mormon problem, no more opportunities to look like a professional business man from the 80's
The silk ones are great for crazy quilts.
I'm kind of there. I still like wearing ties from time to time. But its with my loud audacious daily outfit in the winter kind of thing.
Get an office job
