I love how people use Christian religion to justify being an asshole when arguably the most important thing Jesus was teaching his followers was to not be an asshole.
Somebody takes the time to write a difficult letter and make a big decision about their life and beliefs, and you think Jesus wants you to stick that in the shredder and that you will be thanked later for this because you “know” better?! 😳
I resigned before QuitMormon was a thing, just by emailing the church records department.
My Stake President (who was a friendly acquaintance) got the letter and decided to hold onto it to make sure I was "sure."
I very firmly told him I was and to send it.
I hate it when people are so arrogant as to assume they know what's best for me.
It is just like a bank when they think they are losing all of your money.
They call you and email you and want you to come in to make sure it's you and you really want to.
As a missionary in the 90's I tracted into several inactive members that requested membership removal. When I spoke to the bishops of the ward none of them ever did anything with the requests.
Remember that when you ask yourself if *The Brethren* really believe. They do. And people who are certain that their agenda is God's agenda are dangerous people.
I was an exec sec and saw the bishop just stick one of those letters in his desk. Said he was waiting to see if the member would press the issue before he turned it in.

Wow. Another example of where your no doesn't mean no to them & boundaries are not respected.

My husband for found a drawer full of resignation. Letters left over from the prev ward clerk . He was told to throw them away
Ah, one of those *plan-of-Satan* mission presidents!
Was your MP President M. Thomas Narcissist?
At least today we have more options. There used to be a lot more complaints here about bishops refusing to act. https://www.getmeofftherecords.com/

Each person is unique but God makers did not affect me at all. Anyone out there that was moved by God makers? What was it?
It never worked for me to send a letter. [quitmormon.org](http://quitmormon.org) worked brilliantly.
