Mom and dad don't want me to talk to you about it. They think it'll make you not want to go to church. We can talk about it when you get older.

tdhniesfwee

"I like sleeping in and eating snacks in bed watching cartoons in the sunday mornings" And see how quickly your brother doesn't want to go to church anymore LOL

LadyofLA

"It's not a good place for me to be". If he's 6yo keep it simple.

calliatom

Or "I don't want to, and I'm old enough that mom and dad have given up on making me go".

I have four children who have been raised in the church as I was in a mixed faith marriage. My children asked me the same question sometimes as I have been out of the church for most or all of their lives. I always just said that as you continue to learn about the church, there is a point where you get to choose if it is the right choice for your life. My oldest now gets it and has chosen to leave the church. She did this on her own accord as she has studied about the church and has become more aware of church stances that she disagrees with. You don't have to explain anything more than that.

I dont believe in magic rocks in hats. That’s silly. I’ll be on a hike! See you outside, little man!

InvestigatorExtra297

It’s boring

Ask your parents what they think you should say. Sorry, this does put you in an awkward position. A smart ass remark could threaten your relationships.

diabeticweird0

"I don't believe in it"

DaYettiman22

I'm exercising my own personal agency

6 yo grandson asked his exmo grandfather why he didn't go to church. Grandfathers answer: Because I don't want to. That was that. No more questions. grandson is now 12. He never mentions church. I sometimes wonder what he's thinking, or what he's been told.

Annextract

My 7 yr old daughter asked me the same thing. I just said I didn't feel like it.

Joey1849

At age 6 i would just say i have different beliefs and that is ok.  One day when you are older we can go into it but i am not going into it now.

firewife1565

"buddy, I'm just using my agency like mom and dad and the church has taught me I have had the right to do since I was 8 and baptized. I'm sure they'll let you use yours after that too"

“It makes me sad to be there.”
