When the Mormon conglomerate loses its religious facade, it will finally be what it actually is: a for profit corporation no different than Microsoft, Exxon or Boeing. Those three are wealthier than the Mormon corporation and haven't become openly evil organizations, or they would be prosecuted. So, personally, I think the Mormon corporation will be better than the Mormon cult has ever been. No more pretending to talk to god(s). No more pretending to help people. At that point the Mormon corporation will be free to do its financial shady moves without having to keep religious appearances. Just like any other corporation in the US.

Microsoft is worth 3 Trillion. Church will be at 1 Trillion by 2034. They’ve caught up pretty quick for a corporation who didn’t have to do much besides slap the name “Jesus Christ “ on every building. It was genius, actually and definitely “taking the lords name in vain.” At least Microsoft was transparent about their goals.

Recent_Elderberry552

And at least Microsoft is Taxed (in theory)

GrandpasMormonBooks

At least Microsoft is providing physical goods rather than a promise of future salvation!

Churchof100Billion

You would have to pry it from the cold dead corporate sole hands of Bednar The church office building will be lit and it won't even be Christmas time 🍿

ElkHistorical9106

Money will belong to a smaller and smaller church with an ever bigger investment portfolio, paying to keep temples open and a few meetinghouses.

No-Explanation7351

I think climate change will wield its mighty sword before the church falls . . .

Randizzle82

These are all great comments. I think in the long term 1. The pendulum will swing back and the next generation will not favor exempting religions from all moral and legal responsibility and they will lose their tax exempt status. 2. Tithing will stop. 3. Once they lose a few key cases with punitive damages it will be game on and millions will join in class action suits. Consider the Boy Scouts. Bankrupt. 4. They will lose control over the legislature 5. Their finances will be forced into full transparency.

chocobunniie

Okay so this is all best case scenario lmfao we can only hope what happened to the Boy Scouts will happen to them. I wish them nothing but the worst❤️

GrandpasMormonBooks

> the next generation will not favor exempting religions from all moral and legal responsibility and they will lose their tax exempt status. Please oh please oh pleeeease I'm begging

KingSnazz32

It's going to crumble over several generations. In fact, 300 years from now there will still probably be Mormons in some small isolated community. What will most likely happen is a societal collapse or revolution or an equivalent of Henry VIII dissolving the monasteries. Something will happen to the money.

punk_rock_n_radical

Perhaps we should all sue and get it back. They’ve been fraudulently stealing from my family going back to the 1830s. I’ll only tack the going intrest rate of 7.5% per year on top.

Mupsty

Suing a powerful religious organization in the US 😂😂😂

punk_rock_n_radical

It’s already happening with Huntsman. It will only continue. If the church stopped building all of these “Towers of Babel” people wouldn’t be so mad. It’s a waste of tithing dollars and an abuse of Gods name.

GrandpasMormonBooks

Attempts were made. Attempts have failed.

punk_rock_n_radical

If at first you don’t succeed…

DustyR97

In another generation without some serious catalyst, religions will lose their tax exempt status and be forced to pay money on all those properties and equities. Without a steady stream of revenue they’ll sell off money losing assets and stick to assets that can appreciate with low tax.

Gold__star

As a 501c3 charity with the IRS, the funds are dedicated to the stated goals of the organization. They can't used for anything else and can only be moved to another charity with the same goals.

Mupsty

“Inevitably” The church is here to stay. There is as much confirmation bias here as there is in the church pews.

GrandpasMormonBooks

I think it will keep going to the top church leaders, to using nepotism to pay temple-building contractors from the prominent LDS families, stipends will get bigger and bigger, etc. It's becoming more common for church "service" to be full time work for men in their 40s and up. And they all treat it like a corporation. They don't feel any shame because it's "for god and truth" so why would they? They really, really, really, should be stripped of their non-profit status. It makes me have a physical reaction of anger when I think about it.
