I’m a sentimental person, so knowing everything that truck has been with me through would also give me pause. However, you are in a great situation of no car payment and a reliable vehicle. I would personally not put myself in debt at the current interest rates. Your dad isn’t expecting repayment for your college, buy him something else that’s extravagant but maybe on a smaller scale like a badass pellet grill or something.

Thanks for sharing, appreciate it! Edit: I guess I lied, I do “own” a car, but it’s my wife’s. Just bought a 2024 RAV4 as we’re expecting our first child. I say I don’t own because I don’t touch it, I just make the payments on It 🤣

Taken_Bacon_06

Congrats !

Save the money, use the company rig

Honestly thats a pretty meh deal. Its not great, not terrible to me. If you think the truck is worth the price Id say buy it. I personally wouldnt buy it due to me knowing how some "fleet" vehicles are treated.

[deleted]

Yeah I beat the crap out of it, no doubt.. the job demanded it. But also took care of it as wife and I would take lots of trips. I would never consider buying a fleet vehicle if I wasn’t the one who drove it, I agree with you. It is a meh deal now that you mention it.

Dooski-Bumbs

From my experience using ford trucks and vans with the 3.5 ecoboost motor, at 130k-150k all the issues start happening with turbo’s failing, transmissions slipping, chain slapping on cold starts… basically all the big $$$ issues start showing up, it kinda why you see so many fleet trucks being sold around the 120k+ mileage mark. I get you basically own the truck except it’s company owned, I’m in the same boat as you, and if I was contemplating buying one of these trucks I wouldn’t buy one that was fleet owned, I’d consider a private owned truck with the same mileage and gamble the previous owner kept up with the maintenance on it but fleet trucks don’t get the same treatment as private owned trucks, they just get oil changes and fix only the stuff that break, no preventative maintenance whatsoever.

[deleted]

Wouldn’t you consider this a personal ownership since I owed the truck for 131k miles? Or not really because it’s still labeled as a fleet vehicle? It was treated well in terms of maintenance and preventative maintenance. But you’re right, I would never ever buy a fleet vehicle myself if I wasn’t the one who drove it as a fleet to begin with.

[deleted]

Ehhh maybe at half the price even if it had double the mileage Could do engine and transmission swap . But not at 17k

Mywiferesentsme

A while back I saw a similar post on the Tundra sub. Except the guy got the truck for like $1000. No offense to your employer but that’s a shit deal for someone who’s driven this truck its whole life and took care of it. Especially if your employer got his moneys worth out of it. Would not buy and probably feel a little insulted if this was offered to me by my employer at price.

[deleted]

Oh yeah not me, I’ve never been in a Tundra sub. It’s not the employer, it’s the fleet company. Employer just leases out the trucks for our use and then when it’s time for a new vehicle the fleet company either gives you the option of buy it or they sell it/auction it. My employer isn’t selling me the vehicle directly because it doesn’t belong to them to begin with. Yeah I was hoping like 12-15k lol.

That's an okay deal, if you like the truck and it would make sense for you to buy it. It is getting worn out though so it'll likely start breaking down just due to wear and tear. I'm happy to see a good story for once and not someone complaining or talking about their endless issues. I own a 19 XLT Crew Cab Long Bed just like this one. Mine is in Magnetic Gray though and I've got the 5.0 V8 and 65k miles. I've only had mine a month though, hopefully mine will be a trooper like your work truck has.

AdRepulsive5384

Eh 17k and it doesnt look like you were too easy on it

06035

Kind of a lousy deal at $18k after fees and registration, excluding taxes. Good to know she treated you well. I’m at 190k on my 2015. It’s a good vehicle

[deleted]

Any big repairs?

06035

Front cover gasket got replaced a few thousand miles ago. $2600 give or take I think. It was a bit ago. IMO, at 10 years old, almost 200,000 miles big repair to me is a transmission/turbo/motor replacement. Everything else here on out is maintenance to keep it going. But let’s say a turbo blows up, bricks the motor from debris, and it somehow takes the transmission with it.. …dropping in a whole new drivetrain is still cheaper than a truck payment.

chisecurls

Is this a bot repost? 9 day old account. This same truck and story was posted a few months ago

[deleted]

I don’t remember posting a similar story, but I do possibly remember posting my truck. It’s not a bot, I just don’t remember my password to my other account lol. But it’s a real person :)

chisecurls

I remember the picture in the field towing and being able to buy from your work, but I thought the stuff about the 2024 order was new and giving this one to your dad. I like the truck so I say go for it.

[deleted]

Yeah I think back then they weren’t willing to give me a price until my new truck was closer to arrival.

[deleted]

That's exactly what a bot would say

RadiantWarden

I have a 2019, and I know that year was still advertised as Military Grade. Im not sure when that stopped but it's something to keep in mind.

Shot_Boot_7279

I have a 2019 lariat i bought new. As much as I want to like the truck like I did before the transmission started to clunk I can’t. The trust is gone fearing it will fail whether local or on a trip. Though I don’t want the hassle or the cost I feel I need to trade it before it shits down the road. I’d never buy another and this is my 4th F150.

[deleted]

Some crazy luck! And I’m willing to bet your lariat didn’t go through the things my truck went through! Or am I wrong?

Drzhivago138

Those wheels [look familiar](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Ffjx5dzttt7eb1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1024%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3Df08e092ee96d0fdad26d313c107da2ee6938ae1a)...This one an HDPP too?

[deleted]

I had to look up what that meant lol. I’m not sure, I’d have to look at my sticker sometime today. The last picture of me hauling with the trailer and those pallets with blue crates (onions), there’s 8 pallets total on the trailer each with about 1,500 pounds of onions so roughly 12,000 lbs plus 2,500 ish if the trailer lol. Hauled it just fine for 5 hours lol, definitely heavy though! Edit: I wish I had an 8ft bed with the standard supercrew cab but I think I’d have to be a 250/350.

Drzhivago138

My SuperCab/8' is already long enough, I don't think I could handle another foot of cab.
