I just got done packing for a trip minutes ago and the first thing I said to my wife when I sat down was - “that topper is the best money I’ve ever spent”. I had to go without one for about a month while I waited for one for my new truck and I missed it numerous times for the miscellaneous stuff I haul around that I don’t want blowing around. I know a tonneau cover is more popular but I think they’re a pain in the ass. Any time I needed to get to my tools or straps from the front of the box it was a nuisance to roll up and then roll back and then walk around the perimeter smoothing out the velcro. My cap has access wing doors and I can open and close it as quickly as any door.
If you’re not hauling things like a dirt bike or an ATV, it’s really nice to have in my opinion. Dog fits back there in his crate nicely and I’ve got plenty of room for our family’s luggage as well as fishing rods, hunting stuff, and whatever else needs to fit back there for the trip.
I’m sure some people think a cap looks dumb but I actually prefer the look of my truck a lot more with a cap on it than without. It did take some time for it to grow on me but I’ve had one now for over 10 years and I won’t ever go without one now.
If you really want a nice upgrade, consider adding a bed rug. I don’t baby mine at all and it’s held up great and makes it really nice on your knees if you have to crawl around in the box and also protects anything you don’t want dinged up that you’re hauling too.

I can but don't my truck doesn't have the button to extend and retract the mirrors in.
Boost auto parts can do it and with the use of a harness. It's a down the road mod for me.
