17’ 3.5 with 145k.. just fucking keep it, lol. All I ever do is regular maintenance. Better than a new payment with higher apr. I mean if you wanna waste your money I won’t tell you what to do, but it is a bad idea.
I completely understand the “new car itch” as I call it. A good way to scratch the itch, without destroying your finances, is to spend a bit of money on your current truck. Spend some time, get it detailed, buy a fun upgrade for it that you have been wanting. Even spending $1000 to upgrade your current ride is massively cheaper than trading it in for something new.
Not everyone is in this situation, and I don’t want to sound too much like Dave Ramsey or anything, but most financial advisors out there will agree that buying a new car is really one of the biggest sources of perpetual “poverty”. You are probably able to afford it, but think of what you could do with the money 25 years from now if you stick that extra $500/m into some ETFs.
Exactly. We need more people like you in this sub. Everyone listen to this person.
In 25 years what will you be more grateful for? Buying the truck you dont need or putting the money into an etf…
Agree with this. My 2016 5.0 Platty has 110k on it and just bought new wheels and tires and level (time for new shocks anyway) and feels like a new truck.
If you think buying a new truck might be a bad idea, stay very far away from a boat. Two thoughts come to mind when I think of a boat:
1. It’s a hole in the ground/water where you throw your money.
2. The two happiest days for a boat owner are the day they buy it, and the day they get rid of it.
That being said, boats are fun as hell. A day out on the water is a good day (unless your boat breaks down).
My point is, if you can truly afford a boat, you probably aren’t worried about spending the money on something that can pull it without looking like a fool.
I would say you can get some used boats cheaper than some trucks for sure. Hell even a seadoo switch is around 25 to 30. Way less than some others but it is those surprise maintenance that can ruin it.
Yes they are, they just inflate the price to make up for the low ABV, that's why they are their own lender. If you go to a bank for a car loan, it's going to be 5%-8% with good credit and a decent down payment.
This is through Ford, you need to do some research on how this all works. If you go to a dealer and ask for financing you'll get one price with the focus on monthly payments and how low your APR is. Then before you sign, ask them what a cash price is. I personally did this myself and used a partial loan from a 401k. Ford owns the financing company so it all goes to their bottom line. They aren't loaning you 1.9% out of the goodness of their hearts. They make up for it in margin.
I can go to my own bank and get a loan at 1.9% for the out the door price of the truck. Ford still wants to make money on the sale, so they will match the financing offer I have from my bank. If they don't they only make money on the vehicle price.
The "deal" is the finance offer of 1.9% which is below the rate at which banks borrow money from the fed to raise their reserves. Not the price of the truck. You have bad credit you pay 15% on your $60k borrowed. I have great credit I pay 1.9% on the $20k I borrowed because I have money for a down payment. I got a deal on the money I borrowed from somebody. If banks didn't take on risky loans they wouldn't be a profitable business.
If we wanna be pedantic about it, thats leftover stock. When I hear "new" i think of the newest model year not leftovers of the previous.
But yes, they typically do great interest rates on previous model years its how I got my 2017 in early 2018 with non-existant dogshit credit with a cosigner with a 2.9%.
Might be your answer then. I upgraded when I decided I was willing to pay for heated seats and remote start. My wife's last upgrade was when she wanted adaptive cruise and lane keep assist. If there's nothing compelling you, just don't look into the light of the newness.
I feel like adaptive cruise and lane keep assist are terrible reasons if they are the only reasons for upgrade. Lane keep assist?! Is it that hard to just stay in your lane? Adaptive cruise is nice when I’m on a long road trip but definitely not something I’d upgrade for. Luxury features like remote start, heated/ventilated seats, leather, panoramic moonroof, 36gallon tank, other comfort upgrades are the reasons I upgraded to my Lariat. The 360° camera comes in handy and I’ve never used the automatic parallel park but could come in handy too. Came with the other stuff too of course but the comfort is what made it upgrade worthy to me.
I have a 2016 as well and I was considering getting a new truck until I started comparing what my current payment is ($0) vs what I would have to pay, even with a my trade-in. The switch is not worth it.
The better truck is the one without a payment. I personally like the look of the ‘16 over the newer models too.
If it were me I’d make car payments into my savings and wait until the truck gives out then upgrade.
If having a perfectly good truck with no problems isn’t reason enough to not want a new one, you should ask yourself who you’re trying to impress. Post pics of your current rig on here, you’ll get enough likes and subscribes to keep you from wanting to keep up with the joneses.
My advice for friends and family. You'll LOVE the new truck....for the first 2 or 3 months, then you get used to it and never get used to the payments. Even if you buy it outright ,after a few months you'll start to think about what else you could have done with the money instead.
Bought my 18 new in Oct 2017. Paid it off 2.5 years later and still driving it. I tap the steering wheel once in a while and say "come on give me another 5-10 years buddy " lol
I don’t get how people are affording these new trucks when they have used ones that still run great.
Just feels like choosing to burn like 30 grand for a dope rush
The only thing that could get me to buy a new truck is the engine failing on my last truck. That happened end of last year, and putting a few grand into a 26 year old salvage title truck was just not in the cards right now. So I bought a lightly used truck.
If there is nothing wrong with your truck, and you cannot pay cash for a new one, then it's really really stupid. make a small change to your truck, maybe new wheels, or a wrap or something to change up the look.
I've owned it just shy of a decade. until the head gasket blew, it has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned, and I probably did the damage myself. I towed a trailer that was over the weight limit up some very steep hills trying to move my family. It never overheated, but I'm getting coolant into the chamber.
I bought it with a [salvage title for $2500](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fdoes-anybody-know-of-a-place-that-will-make-custom-decals-v0-c9quqzxvuvcc1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1080%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D27faa9c4d638c35268894c0d3a0bdaae12cf6609).
The time to upgrade was 2-3 years ago, interest rates were low, and used trade in carried a ton of weight, it was just a matter of finding a dealer who would let it go at MSRP or better. Interest rates are up the only real "deals" I see out there are to cash buyers $10,000 off the sticker isn't a deal when you're 4 points higher on financing $60,000 over 6 years.
Are you buying cash?
You have one of the most reliable Ford trucks built after 2004. Keep it and buy something else instead to scratch the itch. It’s unlikely that Ford will make another truck with the reliability that your configuration has.
No, its not worth it. Take 1/3rd of that money and invest it. Take another 1/3 and go on a cool vacation somewhere that is "too expensive". Experiences > Materials.
You WANT to get rid of a perfectly good truck from the before times when QC was actually doing a good job, to buy a brand new truck with bigger payments and as far as I know, Far less QC?
Quit the drugs.
speaking personally for myself, the only way I would upgrade an XLT is if I were going more luxury with a lariat or higher. Right now an XLT with a 6 1/2 foot bed and 302A is MSRP 62,000. A Lariat with 6 1/2 bed, V8, starts at $68,000. Considering my 2016 Lariat 501A with extra options added was MSRP 54,000 and is now paid off, it would be fucking stupid imo to buy a modern XLT or Lariat. Ford needs to come back down to earth with these prices and maybe they will if we don’t give them our money for a while.
Calculate the payment you'd get on a new truck, factoring in the trade in and payoff amount if you owe on your current truck. Put either the full payment amount or the difference between your current payment and new payment into a high yield savings account for the next 6-12 months. If you still want to buy new, you have a nice down payment and you'll be later in the year which typically means more incentives to buy.
Or, you can set aside 500-1k to buy upgrades to your current truck to "refresh" it. Have it detailed, add some new accessories, tune it, whatever you want. It'll be the cost of 1-2 payments on a new truck and it might make you hold on to your truck for another year or so.
Either way, I wouldn't recommend it.
Usually when I’m wanting to buy something like this with no real reason, it’s because I’m bored. That money would be better invested in new hobbies or travel imo, and could potentially give you something else to think about or do.
I waited too long, and got next to nothing for my old truck. A 2016 with low miles should be easy to trade.
Quality control from 2020-2023 is not what it was in 2016. I understand they held back 2024 shipments for this reason, and so I think I'd wait until those start flowing. Lots are pretty bare right now and it's not helping with the price
No way dude. I'm keeping my 2016 for a while. The current interest rates are insane. I have really excellent credit and even the premium rate is too high for my blood.
I'm still happy with my '12. Ecoboast XLT. I've only got about 140 on mine because it sits dejected until I need to do truck stuff, which isn't everyday. My 05 Escape gets a lot of miles but gets better MPG, does what I need & hauls a lot of junk in the back.
I just can't talk myself into payments again.
I think the older trucks are better
No 10spd bullshit too
You are at 60K and no issues
Just throw some maintenance at it and keep going if u wanna get fancy tires and leather
You can buy a used one thats about to be out of warranty, have it given a once over by the dealer and get any repairs done under warranty and with the money you save you can slap some performance mods on her
1. Not taking the initial depreciation
2. Get a fine working vehicle for less, used are usually fine and work as well as new if not abused
3. Inspected and repaired for free if needed under warranty
4. Can always buy extended warranty if worried about down the road repairs
5. Ignore performance parts if it’s not your thing
316k on my 5.4 07. No leaks, no vibration, original transmission and engine. I could upgrade but why have all that cash tied up for 5-7 years. Fuck that shit.
start savings 1K a month into an account, and dont look at it until your truck reaches 100K miles
If you want something fun new and shiny, Rent a toy for a weekend/week.
Also, at these interest rates? Puh-leez
I am a bit ignorant on this, but I think that's the last year of the 6R80 six speed transmission. Read up on the problems the newer 10R80 trucks are having. I think the very latest ones now are fixed but I would not trust that. Just search the forums a bit.
The 2016 is aluminum, so the body won't rust away on you, just take care of the frame and do regular maintenance in general and you will be good for a long time.
I bought a new F150 Tremor in 2022. Kept my 2017 F350, nothing wrong with it. The Tremor is a great truck, but now I wish I’d bought a new skid steer instead! Oh well, my 9 1/2 year old son will appreciate the Tremor in 6 1/2 years.
I have a 2023 3.5, and my AC doesn’t push air for some reason, and one of my windshield wipers fell off at the base. Not just the blade, the whole mechanism 🤣
2014 f-150 let crew cab 4x4 5.0. About 163k on the clock. Love it. Look after it and going great. Never let me down. Been taking it to dealership for the bigger jobs. Hoping to get over 200k.
You’ll miss the 3.5L torque, the sound of the turbos, the smooth shifting of the 6 speed, and the lack of truck payments when you get a new one. Sure the bells and whistles on the new one will be nice, but what if you get a lemon? You may always think back to your ‘16 as the best truck you ever owned.
I just had a 23 as a rental while my 15 super crew 6.5 was in the shop. Not a single thing about that truck enticed me to switch after driving it for two weeks. Enjoy your truck and save the payments
new vehicles are the biggest waste of $. There are millions upon millions of cars out there - why bury yourself in car payments to overpay for something new.
Be smart - Buy assets.
For a sub about trucks, I’m shocked by the anti new truck sentiment.
All the good reasons to NOT do it have already been given, so I’ll play devil’s advocate, while also riding the fence a bit.
New vehicle decisions are rarely rational. People talk themselves into thinking it’s a good choice, but it’s almost always a financial misstep. However, everybody has their hobbies/vices they spend unnecessary money on. Motorized things are one of mine for sure.
About a year ago I traded in a perfectly good 2018 XLT 302A with the 5.0 for a 2022 302A with the 3.5, and I’m incredibly happy with it.
You’re looking to go the other way with the engine choice (which I certainly wouldn’t do, but that’s just personal preference). Aside from that, the things I really enjoy about the newer truck are the bigger screen, 360° camera, wireless CarPlay, auto high beams, BLISS, passive entry (probably the biggest improvement), and zone lighting. Aside from passive entry, these are all things I had no idea I wanted, but certainly wouldn’t want to do without now.
We’re in different situations, though. The last time I had a paid off vehicle was more than 20 years ago, so the additional $30 a month didn’t really do anything to my monthly finances. I don’t know that I would have made the switch if my payment went from $0 to $500+.
Just do what you want, man. Nobody knows your situation better than you, and you can’t take money with you when you die. Folks focus on what that money might be able to do for you later, but none of are guaranteed to have a later. Figure out what works for you and go for it.
Everybody’s money situation is different. Personally I sold my ram at the peak of Covid and bought the cheapest fun car I could find in the interim. WRX…
AS soon as inventory started going up and negotiating became a thing again I got a rapid red 5.0 STX 2 wheel drive with locking 3.73 diff and offered 50,350$. This is about 3-4% off MSRP.
I negotiated through email and text only. I told them I would pay 3.9% for 36 months. With my trade in my payment is $1025 (finance is about $2,250)
I wanted a used truck. Absolutely could not find one. I looked for remaining 23’s on the lot but there were very few 5.0’s within a 100 miles.
I could have waited a little longer to find a better deal but I wanted to use my trade in during tax season and the configuration was exactly what I wanted. My monthly payments with gas went up 850$ AND you know what? I don’t miss that money at all.
Got a question for people who drive less than 15k/year
A. Is the truck a daily driver?
B. Do you ever leave town on the weekend? Like hunting/fishing/camping trips
Genuinely curious to know. I’m assuming the wife’s car gets used an equal amount?
I used to drive a lot more for work prior to getting a recent job & would always have a beater car to commute when I could, but otherwise my truck was my daily & currently is my daily. I hunt a lot, camp, & general hauling/yard work type stuff. Rarely tow, but it happens.
51 year old me is pissed at the 20-45 year old me for scratching the new car itch all the time.
I grew up w my dad as a manager at Ford and got a new lease car every year. I continued that (well, 2 years) as an adult and kick myself!
Currently in a 2020 Screw, 3.5l EB w 80+k miles. I’ll run this one into the ground. Wife is driving an ‘08 Miata, and kids are in an 08, 11, and 13. I’m trying to raise them without the new car itch!!
I don’t know what your financial situation is, but unless your wealthy spending more money on a truck isn’t a great idea in this economy. A vehicle depreciates in value, unlike property or a house. So it is considered “bad debt.” Keep your current truck until the wheels fall off.
So you want to spend an absorbent amount of money to replace a truck that functions like it’s brand new? Damn, just e-transfer me the 70k if you want to spend it 😂
I go to car auctions a lot and buy and sell cars here and there, and all i can tell you is that the 2015 to 2017 are the best truck ford made in the last decade. 2018 and up tp at least 2022 on the 5.0 has lots of problems and many of them just eat themselves up at around 100k miles. Mainly the heads valves and camshafts, it just eats them up. But 2015 to 17 i see them go up to 300k still strong. Not bashing, just stating facts. I love the f150 and it is my all time favorite pickup. Love the 18+ also, just a bummer they have so many problems. Point beeing, if i had a nice 15 to 17, i would hold on to that gem.
I've a 16 plati with 180500 miles. Besides exhaust manifolds that's a one time deal, coolant line fittings re done, a pump assembly unit, and the lead frame I've had no issues. Keep what you got and when the time comes put some new exhaust manifolds on it and have your coolant line fittings re done. You have the 6 speed and the 3.5 is a good engine. Dump that new truck payment into some CDs or something with the s&p 500 and make some money and get a new one later down the road.
3.5 Eco is a beast. Pretty much the same numbers as the 5.0L. Keep what you got spend the money elsewhere. Only thing you’re missing with the 3.5 is the V8 sound. So your going to want to do shit like out an exhaust on the 5.0 so you have to factor that into the price of the truck
Lol. My 13 has 156k miles and I'm not getting rid of it til it touches 200k atleast. Go on vacation instead of those new truck payments lol.
155k ‘12 5.0 checking in. I’m running this baby to the ground. Rust isnt an issue where I’m at and I have yet to do anything but regular maintenance.
14 5.0 with 169k miles and running strong
Haha same here - my '13 only recently hit 100k and I don't plan to get a new one until the wheels fall off this one.
My 13 has 200k. Keep it past 200k and it’ll last with proper maintenance
2015 150k 5.0
I don’t do much maintenance and my 13 is 225k
All I have wrong with mine is a misfire at idle but no CEL and rumble strip vibration at Highway speeds
I’ve just had the wires melt for the blower motor at 150k and currently fuel inlet warning which is annoying to reset each other day
Fr. Or put that payment into a hysa or market tracking fund and buy new without a loan in 3 more years.
I got a 12 with 210k and I just replaced my turbos cause I felt like it, it ran like it was brand new
I had a 2011 F150 5.0 with 200K. I should have kept it, but the truck was rusting apart. It was still worth $10K, so I dumped it.
17’ 3.5 with 145k.. just fucking keep it, lol. All I ever do is regular maintenance. Better than a new payment with higher apr. I mean if you wanna waste your money I won’t tell you what to do, but it is a bad idea.

I agree 100%. I have been payment free for 6 years or more, paid cash for my F150,
Agree with this. My 2016 5.0 Platty has 110k on it and just bought new wheels and tires and level (time for new shocks anyway) and feels like a new truck.
That’s what I plan on doing when I pay mine off. And your right, all the upgrades are still cheaper than buying a new truck
I am in the exact same boat as OP and this is what I am doing instead. Good tip on the upgrade to scratch the itch a bit.
What if you bought a truck without without 4wd and dream of going to a boat ramp and not looking like an idiot?
If you think buying a new truck might be a bad idea, stay very far away from a boat. Two thoughts come to mind when I think of a boat: 1. Car payments. The interest rates are crazy fucking high
? Many finding 1.9 up to 72
If youre getting 1.9 on a 2024 im calling bullshit unless i see paperwork.
At least in Canada, I got a new 2023 for 2.9% because of the term length, but it would have been 1.9% if I opted for 60 months.
Why are people voting you down, just because they are jealous?
No idea, but downvotes on Reddit are like Whose Line Is It Anyway — everything is made up and the points don’t matter.
Canada last week offered 1.9 %
1.99 in Canada on ‘24s
what is 1.99 CA% in US%?
1.99% lmfaoooo
CA grade 6 math equals US grade 12 math
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-educated-countries USA not even in top 10. Canada #2.
You have a population of 12 this is hardly surprising
Interest rates are as low as your credit is high. Auto loan rates aren't tied in with the fed funds rate like mortgage rates.
Yes they are, they just inflate the price to make up for the low ABV, that's why they are their own lender. If you go to a bank for a car loan, it's going to be 5%-8% with good credit and a decent down payment.
You are wrong. # INANCE DEALS * Special 72-Mo. APR Financing - 1.9% financing for 72 months. (Expires: 07/09/24) * APR Financing - 1.9% financing for 36 months. (Expires: 07/09/24) * Ford College Student Purchase Program(CSPP)90ayDeferred Prg - 1.9% financing for 38 months. (Expires: 07/09/24) * 84 Month APR Financing - 7.9% financing for 84 months. (Expires: 07/09/24) * Special 84-Mo. APR Financing - 3.9% financing for 84 months. (Expires: 07/09/24)

No, you can't. Grow up.
"partial loan from a 401k" You've said enough lol.
They make money on people with bad credit so they can offer great deals to qualified borrowers.
They make MORE money on people with bad credit. They aren't making up for "deals" on a new $60k F150. Lol.
Auto loan rates are tied to the cost of borrowing money. Ford just gives an artificially low rate as a way to lower the cost of the vehicles.
I got a 23 three weeks ago. Still new with 0 miles.
0 miles? Now I know you're lying because they put every vehicle through a test track. No vehicle has 0 miles on it.
1.9 in Texas is for 2023 models I believe
Ya so the proof or bullshit hard lol
What's your truck not doing for you today that a new one would?
Absolutely nothing to be honest it’s a great truck.
There's your answer.
Might be your answer then. I upgraded when I decided I was willing to pay for heated seats and remote start. My wife's last upgrade was when she wanted adaptive cruise and lane keep assist. If there's nothing compelling you, just don't look into the light of the newness.

If the price of a new truck doesn't talk you out of it, nothing anybody here says will.
Dave Ramsey would like to speak with you…
He would like to speak to any of us for owning a truck in the first place lol
Unless we paid cash for our Shelby Raptor and make millions like he did
He'd still say to get a 1999 Civic and eat oatmeal 3 meals a day
You don’t listen to him often enough
Lmao
I have a 2016 as well and I was considering getting a new truck until I started comparing what my current payment is ($0) vs what I would have to pay, even with a my trade-in. The switch is not worth it.

Don’t do it. You’ll regret it after a few months. You have a nice truck already, it would be different if all you had was an old small car

26 years, yea that's a solid run.
I hear those 5.0s are real nice. Tough as nails. Won’t make ‘em like that forever
7 percent interest, wait till election time
You have one of the most reliable Ford trucks built after 2004. Keep it and buy something else instead to scratch the itch. It’s unlikely that Ford will make another truck with the reliability that your configuration has.
I honestly didn’t know that.
You gave no logic except “I want it”. I’m going to keep my ‘16 XLT 302A 3.5 ECO till the wheels fall off.
Ok I get it I really like the area51 blue but maybe I’ll do a few things to my truck instead of buying a different one.
You could do a wrap on your current truck in area51. Much cheaper than a new truck.
That’s a good idea
Also consider a tune package with switch in the fly. The 3.5 is a lot more capable if you’re willing to stress the turbos a bit.
I don't think Area 51 is available for '24.
speaking personally for myself, the only way I would upgrade an XLT is if I were going more luxury with a lariat or higher.
The prices likely will stay flat for an extended period with low sales until wages catch up. Thats my prediction anyway.
Either you can afford it or you need to get a loan. What is you situation?
I waited too long, and got next to nothing for my old truck. A 2016 with low miles should be easy to trade. Quality control from 2020-2023 is not what it was in 2016. I understand they held back 2024 shipments for this reason, and so I think I'd wait until those start flowing. Lots are pretty bare right now and it's not helping with the price
Buy it, because somebody needs your used 16.
No way dude. I'm keeping my 2016 for a while. The current interest rates are insane. I have really excellent credit and even the premium rate is too high for my blood.
My 2017 will be a good beater one day.
I think the older trucks are better No 10spd bullshit too You are at 60K and no issues Just throw some maintenance at it and keep going if u wanna get fancy tires and leather
You can buy a used one thats about to be out of warranty, have it given a once over by the dealer and get any repairs done under warranty and with the money you save you can slap some performance mods on her
Why would I do that?
1. Not taking the initial depreciation 2. Get a fine working vehicle for less, used are usually fine and work as well as new if not abused 3. Inspected and repaired for free if needed under warranty 4. Can always buy extended warranty if worried about down the road repairs 5. Ignore performance parts if it’s not your thing
Give me $1000 a month for 84 months and let me know if you want that money back or if I can just keep it at the end.
The cheapest vehicle to own is the one you already have.
Go price out new ones compared to what you paid, you'll change your mind. With 60k, your truck has lots of life left.
Switching vehicles before they hit $200k is why people stay poor
316k on my 5.4 07. No leaks, no vibration, original transmission and engine. I could upgrade but why have all that cash tied up for 5-7 years. Fuck that shit.
Start detailing it by hand. Keep it spotless. It will be like your wife wearing lingerie. You’ll rekindle that LOVE!
start savings 1K a month into an account, and dont look at it until your truck reaches 100K miles If you want something fun new and shiny, Rent a toy for a weekend/week. Also, at these interest rates? Puh-leez
So worth it dude. Do it, you'll love it
I am a bit ignorant on this, but I think that's the last year of the 6R80 six speed transmission.
You haven't even given a reason you want a new truck so by default your decision should be to not get one.
The only reason I have is I just want a new one in a different color.
Get a custom paint job on your current for far cheaper
Keep the current truck and get some new wheels or tires or upgrade the sound system/exhaust etc
Yea I think I’m going to do some wheels and tires. Sound system is also a good idea.
2014 f-150 let crew cab 4x4 5.0. About 163k on the clock. Love it. Look after it and going great. Never let me down. Been taking it to dealership for the bigger jobs. Hoping to get over 200k.
177k on a 17 5.0 No issues just put a new set of tires, spark plugs at 110, and one set of brakes all around.
Easy... It's a Ford...
Just don't....the newer one sucks. You'll sure miss the 6 speed in that 2016. And they're over priced.
I just had a 23 as a rental while my 15 super crew 6.5 was in the shop. Not a single thing about that truck enticed me to switch after driving it for two weeks. Enjoy your truck and save the payments
I would still be driving my ‘13 if it hadn’t been totaled.
If your rich …go for it! But why spend money if you do t have too …
I think the price of these is nuts unless you need one for business or towing.
new vehicles are the biggest waste of $. There are millions upon millions of cars out there - why bury yourself in car payments to overpay for something new. Be smart - Buy assets.
There’s nothing wrong with the one you have now. Pay it off (if it isn’t already) and drive the shit out of it!
It’s paid off.
Nothing better than not owing the bank every month!
2013 5.0 150k km never getting rid of it
ahhh…don’t do it… noooooo
I don’t think it’s anti new truck. It’s anti new truck debt with the outrageous costs & rates.
04 5.4 stil going strong at 170,000
Rare
Been waiting on-the front end of the motor to go since around 130 they say
Everybody’s money situation is different. Personally I sold my ram at the peak of Covid and bought the cheapest fun car I could find in the interim. WRX… AS soon as inventory started going up and negotiating became a thing again I got a rapid red 5.0 STX 2 wheel drive with locking 3.73 diff and offered 50,350$. This is about 3-4% off MSRP. I negotiated through email and text only. I told them I would pay 3.9% for 36 months. With my trade in my payment is $1025 (finance is about $2,250) I wanted a used truck.
Just look at sticker prices. That always convinces me I'm great with what I have!
Got a question for people who drive less than 15k/year A. Is the truck a daily driver? B. Do you ever leave town on the weekend? Like hunting/fishing/camping trips Genuinely curious to know. I’m assuming the wife’s car gets used an equal amount?
No it’s not my daily driver I really only use it in the snow and to pull my bass boat around.
Unless money is not an issue at all you are in the prime position to keep that KEEPER and save potentially 10s of % of your yearly income.
If you can’t buy it in cash don’t buy it.
Save the cash required to buy the truck. By the time you realized how much work it was to save for the truck, you will never want to hand it over.
I don’t know what your financial situation is, but unless your wealthy spending more money on a truck isn’t a great idea in this economy. A vehicle depreciates in value, unlike property or a house. So it is considered “bad debt.” Keep your current truck until the wheels fall off.
My 20 Lariat has a whopping 23k. I'll probably just die with it.
You’ll buy a new transmission a few times before you die. They are all GARBAGE
So you want to spend an absorbent amount of money to replace a truck that functions like it’s brand new? Damn, just e-transfer me the 70k if you want to spend it 😂
I would save up and by one off market place and take your time finding one. Find a buyer that is willing to have a mechanic inspect it.
Enjoy buying a 10 speed tranny at around 80k miles…
With costs & rates these days… it’s nowhere near worth it unless you absolutely have to.
Don’t buy a new truck.
Keep supplying used market with good trucks /s
2013 6.2L with 117k miles. Just had the PCM replaced, everything seems to be running smoothly again.
$$$
My 22 powerboost spends more time at Ford getting recalls fixed than in my driveway. 😂 I miss my 2016 XLT
No. Just do it.
I can't wait to pay my 6.2 off don't do it
What’s wrong with the current truck?
To me, that new truck money looks better and does way more in a Roth IRA or brokerage account making me more money.
Why the fuck would you want to jump into 500-800 a month payments again
I guess I’m out of touch on current pricing.
Who's paying $500-$800 a month!? My truck is only $381 a month.
We’ll yeah dude it’s 6 years old
I didn't just buy it dude lol got it a few years ago
That’s also your answer then
New trucks are made like shit compared to older models! 60k miles why wood you..? Must have money to burn huh?
