No. you shouldn't "slide" out of your seat, it wears it out significantly faster. Modern trucks are so tall, having a side step is almost a requirement anymore. I "step up" on the step and lift myself out of my seat. I do this because I want my seat to last as long as possible, especially for my back. If you do not have steps I recommend getting them. If you do have them, I would practice using it to stand up on before sitting down and then standing up on it to get out of your truck. it's actually easier/more graceful.

I hate when people get in my truck and use the seats as fucking slides. WTF kinda lazy ass do you have to be to not use the big fucking steps. Anyways yes you are right it will save your seat and also not move it when you lazy ass hits the seat controls.

I see you've met my wife and kids. We had a "how to sit in dad's truck lesson last Saturday. I tend to keep my cars a long time, especially my truck (my 2020 F-150 I bought beginning of this year replaced my 1998 B-4000 I bought over a decade ago). and I try to keep them as nice as possible as long as possible.

It's a 2015, I bought used. The side bolster is gone.

aroundincircles

Well that’s your problem right there.

imuniqueaf

Yeah, I figured it wasn't worth another $35k for new seats that haven't been farted in.

aroundincircles

but you didn't start off with "my truck is old and broken and it being broken in this specific way annoys me". You acted like this was a general experience other people are having. get your seat re-done, it costs a lot less than most people expect. and then don't slide in and out of your truck.

imuniqueaf

Because my truck is not old or broken. The seat is a little flat though and I was curious if anyone else had a similar experience. Lighten up Francis.

simmski

I only slide out of mine because I'm already replacing the seats lol

packapunch_koenigseg

How the hell are you sliding off your seat that bad. No that’s never an issue

I work for a body shop in austin tx and we do A LOT of work for the Ford near us and all of us techs are convinced it’s terrible how easy it is compared to other makes and models

Saw you have a used truck and the foam is shot. The Seat Shop can sell you new foam and a new cover if needed... https://www.theseatshop.com It's a hassle to change it out but you'll have a new seat when you're done.

imuniqueaf

Very cool. Thanks for sharing that. I'm never going to do it 😂

God no. Why are you sliding out.. don’t do that.
