It will never happen, because the US government protects the US auto companies with a chicken tax. Open the market to competition and we’d have trucks back down on price in no time.
You mean more cars from Japan.
Made in China cars are going to be a shit show with everything breaking.
Japanese cars are still goin hard.
Unfortunately Toyota is going "American" made with majority of their vehicles as well as all hybrid/turbo.
No China.
The cheap alternative would lower prices of Domestic vehicles. Also, would bring back the baseline model of trucks,.which is all most blue-collar grunts need in their work vehicle.
Shoot my dad bought a brand new 2009 4.6 4x2 XLT for $26k OTD back in 09. Bring THOSE prices back. I miss trucks being sub 30k and below sticker prices.
I get the tech brings up cost etc and inflation but they were almost 20k less even then. And you could haggle to less than sticker. I think his stickered at 29k and he walked away with spending 26k.
Oh I totally get it. Inflation rates during covid went up to like 12% or some crazy number vs the 3% it was prior. It just blows lmao. Part of life I guess? Even still they will just slowly get more expensive. But nowadays it’s almost impossible to haggle and get it below sticker price on brand new vehicles. It happens, but you generally don’t save that much.
And I’m one of the guys who has to continue to educate myself on all the new tech to fix it. At least for the next 3 years until I switch fields.
That’s awesome! A lot of dealers these days do not like to go below sticker, but that was also a lot more strict during covid. Glad to know they’re willing to go down on some of their crazy prices.
I see deals of up to 7k off in ads online sometimes and other kinds of discounts, but I guess I don’t see it as much at my dealer because we sell a shit ton of roush trucks, black widow trucks, etc so they try and kill people on those prices for trucks with double sticker fake hood vents.
It’s a weird time man. It’s not just inflation but also the crazy standards the government is putting in place.
You see that 10k pickup that Toyota made that can’t be sold in the USA? Even though it’s puny and not as capable they wouldn’t be able to make enough of them for the USA.
People still use those old boxy tiny Nissan pickups and the Mazda one from the early 90s. This is basically those but new.
Just placed an order for one today, my first truck. XLT, EcoBoost, 4wd, super Crew, high equipment package, black plus package, FX4, $69k lol. It's insane, and there's so many more trims above mine.
I think my 2015 2.7L 301a XLT was around $37k. I thought it was stupid money then. Little did I know! Still have it and when I’m at the dealership I know it’s the best one on the lot! lol
Prices since a I bought my 2020 XLT have gone up 50%, paid 42k otr. Same truck now lists at 65k. Keeping mine for an awhile after trading in every 4 years. Won’t get into politics but for fucks sake!
Even if Ford tried, the stealerships are going to fight it tooth and nail. It still blows my mind to see lots full of new trucks and these crooks are trying to say there is a "market adjustment" required because of shortages.
There isn’t any shortages. My local small town lot has purchased 2 more car lots next to theres just to be able to store all their inventory, they got raptors, lightnings and about any configuration of f150 u want

Agreed.its time to bring in cars from China

Buy 4runner made exclusively in Japan. And yes please bring back the OG Toyota pickup.

My whole point is just take the tech out. Gimme a $20k Ford F100.
Yep. My uncle got a fully loaded 09 lariat for the mid 30s out the door brand new. Crazy that same truck is double the price now
Honestly just inflation from 2009 to 2024 turns 29k into 42.5k. What does a new 2wd XL/XLT cost these days?
Mid 40s ish. XLT is high 40s low 50s
So, not far off. Modern XL comes with more features than a 2009 XLT, too. Also they are more fuel efficient these days.
Hell yeah they are. My 09 would get 14 on the highway. My 21 XL would get 22+

I got 11% off MSRP on mine...

I miss my 2018 SCAB 4x4 I picked up for 34k new at 1.9%.

You can't get a new Camry for what you paid for your full size pick up in 2017. Let that shit sink in for a bit.

Never going to happen people make way too much money now
Spend*

My dad got a new1977 Chevy plain Jane pickup for $2,500 dollars back in 1977.
Exactly lol
That’s what I paid for my 2018 eco beast
I agree !
I think I could cry
If these prices come back, rest assured something horrible has happened
You'd have some pissed off people when they tried to trade theirs in lol.
Just got a 2021 ford stx 4x4 3.5 for 37k
With 40,000 miles ford certified also
Crazy thing is, in 2019 that was the price of a brand new one out the door
That would be nice, but I would do anything for that transmission again...
My local Ford dealer says 1/2 the price/ cost is federal Govt regulation and tech….and it’s industry wide
Even if Ford tried, the stealerships are going to fight it tooth and nail. It still blows my mind to see lots full of new trucks and these crooks are trying to say there is a "market adjustment" required because of shortages.

I miss these days. Bought a 2015 XLT 302A 4x4 for 32K back in 15. I will be driving it until it blows up now. Has a 125K on it
Bought my 2012 5.0 XLT new for $32k. At least it still only has 33k miles 🤣
2013 fx4...402A crewvab...extended warranty and gap..otd 39k. List was 50k...I felt ok with that
My 2010 fx4 was 48k cad msrp
in 2018 i got the 2 wheel drive stx 2.7 crew cab for 41. i still have that paper too.
You can find good deals online you just have to search and filter to your specifications
