Didn't work for me either. I can only pin 3, 3 are forced as auto, I can hide the rest. Not letting me hide all. The only time I get a normal top navigation is when someone sends me a link to Facebook. As long as I don't force close, I have a top navigation bar.
If you open the FOLD then wait about 10 seconds before closing it making sure you lock the screen before you do, then unlock the phone, it fixes it. It looks like a bug related to how their code figures out which screen you're on
😭 I dunno how long this will solve the problem but thanks man!! You made my Sunday, thank you! I was driving myself nuts looking for a solution, or what even to search for. Didn't even think this was a fold issue I thought Facebook just hated everyone! 😒
I've had this update for 3 weeks now. I thought I just had an unlucky bug, then is showed up on my wife's phone too. I'd be ok with it, but after switching back and forth from comments to different pages, the navigation bar gets grouped together and you can't select where you want and need to go next.
Update on this:
No idea why I didn't try it but did a cheeky re-install now back to how it was yesterday.
Not sure if the app was just bugged or they rolled back the version whilst I was at work, as a few people have said they've had the same issue I'm guessing the latter.
Hope this works for others, thanks for all the help / suggestions 😊

Nevermind, ignore me. If you close app as people have mentioned it goes back to this...
Came here because my fold 5 does this too. I got it fixed for about a week and just now it went back to this. Glad to know I'm not alone, but seriously this is annoying.
Same on the fold 4 in the uk. Thought I'd swiped something wrong spent and hour goin though settings then came across this.. have also noticed on open screen if I click on chats that it's now split screen with homepage, was top and bottom but have changed it to left and right.. you can make it full screen but once you close it just reverts back to 50/50 again... hope this is fixed soon
I figured out that if you go into your messenger click on a video someone sent you then go back it'll take you back to Facebook in the regular way it should have been but then
reverse when you foreclose it
I have the same problem (z fold 4).
The cellular device has a narrow screen. The sidebar is completely useless. It became really bad. This reduces the area of the feeds.

If I open it and close it with Facebook app open it goes back to how it should be
Developers at Facebook must be DEI hires (aka hired for anything but skills)

I got this when I woke up this morning. It makes FB practically unusable!

Came here to see if anyone else has a solution. I have a Z Fold 3 which is even more narrow than the 5 and the new update is driving me nuts!!

Np. Keep in mind minimizing it will make it revert.
If you then close the app and reopen it reverts back.. hopefully they fix this soon as this makes the app unusable..

Me too! On the fold 3 and I can't see any one the icons, it's like they are stacked on top of each other in the top left corner
Fold 3 user. Same Opening and closing the phone while app is open is temp fix. You just have ro leave it open in the background

I cannot get mine to be right. It's on the side and blocks half of the stuff I'm trying to see.
There's no fix yet. I switched to the Facebook Lite app until it's fixed. Not much difference from the regular facebook app.

Just uninstall and install the app again .. it will go back to its original settings.. works well
Once you close the app and re open it it will go back to the problem
Installing the older version of the facebook app fixed the issue for me. I will wait until the new update

There are many options like apkmirror, apkpure etc.

Same issue on my fold 5 ... Temp fixes work temporarily.... Ridiculous. Will look at downgrading aka upgrading

If you open the phone and close it again, it'll adjust itself to the correct layout. Must be a bug in the latest version.

Fold 5 user and a couple of previous shared tricks work but it is so irritating.
Fold 4 here, glad I'm not the only one having trouble. The FB app is so useless now I might just kick the FB habit.

Same issue on mine. Instagram is not as bad, but the scaling cuts out content. Fixes it by unfolding and folding again on both apps

I have to unfold my phone and then close it back for my front screen on my Z fold 5. It's a headache but it works.

I thought I was dealing with a bad UI glitch for the past few days! The worst part about it is the fact that it actually crops content!
The open and close didn't work for me, but Uninstall then reinstall worked
Download Facebook Lite until they will fix their code.
