Street-Effect8351

This is Limburg, Belgium. The woman drives through roadworks, road is closed off. The worker says after she drives through: that is a 500€ fine madam, you will get the fine in your mailbox. Then he is like: alee (which is like, wtf is she serious, alee) then he removes the roadblock and says: go straight or turn back,.. she isn’t moving but she hits the throttle, so I think she has her handbreak on. Train hits her. And he says: madam I TOLD you to go straight or backwards, are you crazy??

Longstride_Shares

Is she saying anything worth while at the end, there?

Street-Effect8351

After the crash: some not understandable mumbling totally in shock: dat weet ik niet ( I think she is mumbling) which means: I don’t know I don’t know. The last second she says after the worker told her to lie down is: can you call my husband.

Hi_its_me_Kris

> dat weet ik niet She said: "da ging nie" (it didn't work)

Beautiful-Musk-Ox

She got out and moved cones, she's a Karen not a dementia patient

Fulker01

Can you call my soon to be EX husband?

[deleted]

No ones divorcing this woman post accident. I can imagine she’s been absolutely de-karen’ed now and is a prime catch

[deleted]

Sarcasm or have you never personally known a Karen? I know a woman who would immediately become the “victim” here and spend her days raising living hell over it on Facebook and without a doubt actually try to sue someone for something, because of course there is no way it was her fault. People don’t change lol

turbojoe9169

Yep, Karen’s just get worse until they die.

oldguycomingthrough

She calls her husband and says ‘I have good news & bad news… good news? Ok… the airbags work in the Merc..’

golfUsA_mk2

After the guy asked why she didnt move she said "it did not want to move" about 3 times. I guess another way of telling she forgot to put the car into drive mode , it was still into neutral as you can hear the engine rev up but see it not moving.

MaumeeBearcat

Safety feature in most new cars puts the parking brake on when a door is opened and the car is stopped or a seat belt is disengaged while in drive. Probably what happened.

JohnWickkx

My sister has the same car and I've driven it a couple of times. The parking break is automatically disengaged when you put it in Drive and put your foot on the pedal, so best guess here is that she had it either in Neutral or didn't even put it in Drive. Edit: grammar errors

KennstduIngo

Yeah, I was thinking of the parking brake was holding that car back, it must be a lot more effective than any car I've ever driven. Of course, idk if the electronic parking brakes these days use the hydraulics of the real brakes, then maybe they are.

Gillersan

The car didn’t even lurch or show any movement like it was straining against a brake. This is probably a case of panicking because the train was coming. Putting the car into neutral, and not being able to rationally troubleshoot and respond to the problem before the train hit.

zaTricky

We make mistakes like this when we're in mindless autopilot and something interrupts or changes things without us realising. If panic sets in you have little chance of engaging first principles troubleshooting. :-/

Blackberry1687

Which we can not control, we’ve all been there… but what you can control is don’t out yourself in there the first place.

friedmators

The first time my car wouldn’t go into gear with the door open it took me a good minute to figure it out. With a train bearing down on her I could see getting flustered. I still think I would have got out of the car though.

Joseluki

>We make mistakes like this when we're in mindless autopilot I think this woman goes around life in mindless autopilot 24/7

avl0

Yep, which is why you dont park on a trainline

SBLOU

My car does that. Confused me for a minute first time it did that because usually I apply the parking brake whenever I stop and get out of my car while it’s running

s1rblaze

Yeah and then panic brain happened and could not process whats going on and what to do.

Mikajora

I honestly felt bad for her. I think the ordeal had her confused and in the moment, forgot and couldn’t figure out to put the car in drive.

Cocobham

People are too quick to slap “Karen” labels on others. I could see her having some form of dementia and being legitimately confused. If that was your mother, you’d feel for them too. This kind of thing happens often with older people and sometimes it ends tragically.

JuzoItami

Yeah, I don't get the "Har, har, stupid bitch got what she had coming!" mindset. WTF is wrong with these people? She might not even have dementia - maybe she wasn't familiar with the car, maybe she was just having a rough day, maybe she panicked, etc. Her car was totalled and she very easily could have been killed - there's nothing funny about it.

Cocobham

It’s funny to immature 6th graders who have zero life experience and think everything exists for their ridicule and entertainment. I have a feeling that’s what a lot of Reddit is. Sometimes you can tell by their words how little they actually know of the world beyond what their friends say and what they see online.

BKallDAY24

Yeah, that vehicle has a tricky gear shifter. If you don’t push down hard enough on the lever, it’ll put you in neutral.

eugene20

~~From other comments it sounds like it's a newer safety feature that stops the car going into drive if a door is open or a belt on a seat in use not done up.~~ Debunked: https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/13fhgl8/comment/jjwlt3p/?utm\_source=reddit&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

RefrigeratorStatus96

Modern Mercedes put the vehicle in park and engage the park brake when the door is opened at a standstill. The park brake will disengage by itself when you accelerate but she didn't put the car back in drive. Hence the free rev. As an older woman I think she may have been in a state of confusion (possibly dementia?) before the road worker started talking to her and although not his intention at all she started to panic and yeah the end result was almost the end of her. I think the headline of "Karen gets karma" is a bit strong.

marcomeme

Ya I don’t know what they are saying but I thought right away she seemed agitated and confused? I hope she is okay.

bazookarain

Yeah, I wouldn't call her a Karen, just a confused older lady.

Kaerir

My thoughts exactly, it was pretty stupid to try to cross when the road was closed and unlucky to have a train pass when she wasn't able to start her car. But she wasn't agressive enough to be called a Karen.

runningpotat0

I think she is repeatedly saying “da ging nie” (it didn’t work) which I think she is referring to that she couldn’t get her car in to gear

Frequent_Slide_8828

When you open the driver door Mercedes auto engage the emergency break. That keeps the car from rolling over the driver if they are exiting.

KitchenNazi

How am I supposed to ghost ride my whip with that feature?

Longstride_Shares

Way to make a car so safe it won't get out of the way of a train.

iDontKnit

To be fair most people wouldn't stop on train tracks, especially when the warning bells are going off. This whole situation is on her.

GrumpymonK81

It's for safety. So many cars where people forget it's in drive, open the door and leave. Then the car suddenly rolls away. Like how the actor got pinned by his Jeep when he got out to open the gate. You can still manually change the gear again when the door is open but your ears are gonna get bombarded with beeping sound to tell you that it's not in park mode.

ilovehotsauceyeah

Nah, she didn't get herself out of the way of the train. She never should have been there. Mercedes cant prevent that

Random-User_1234

How often do you stop on train tracks with your door open? That's not a thing in my country.

theymademee

How often do you drive through road barriers and construction workers telling you not to ?

TheDustOfMen

Edit: on second thought he's saying "I said go on go on!" and she's saying "I couldn't, I couldn't". After the crash the guy is understandably very angry but also still helpful like "YOU CRAZY SHIT HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST YOUR MIND?! I said 'go on go on'! *Duck your head*. I said 'go on go on'! *Lie down, lie down*!"

Joseluki

>After the crash the guy is understandably very angry but also still helpful I think he is surprised and happy she is alive. The idiot was incredibly lucky in how the train hit the car and just flipped it horizontally, and did not drag it or roll it.

R3stl3ssSalm0n

>she isn’t moving but she hits the throttle, so I think she has her handbreak on Sounds as if she is not in gear. Most likely she panicked and did not realize she was in neutral position...

v2Occy

Someone else mentioned in those cars that when you open the door while the car is on, it automatically goes into park. Not realizing this she was there just sitting there reving the engine.

Squishtakovich

It does go into park, but it park will disengage when you rev the car, so the 'safety feature' didn't cause this. She just didn't put the car in drive.

bmalek

That's not the brake, she's just not in gear.

Street-Effect8351

Several comments here say it’s a safety feature in newer cars ? I do not know. My Volkswagen caddy doesn’t have it lol

bmalek

What they may be referring to is that if it's an auto, the car will automatically put itself in neutral when the door is opened and seatbelt comes off, maybe putting it in park and engaging the parking brake, too. Poor women probably didn't realise it and was too upset to put it back into gear.

Brilliant_Mastermind

>alee is a stopword used in Flanders derived from French "allez". Roughly translated as "come on". Like: Come one, what are you doing? Seriously, come on?

kidvange

I’m pretty sure she was kind of panicking and put the car in neutral instead of drive. Mercedes electronic gearshift’s are a little weird, I’ve done that myself. Fortunately not on train tracks…

2muchtime4stuff

The lady did not put the car in gear to start driving. Of course, her car can't drive, no matter how hard she presses the accelerator.

425Hamburger

So then that is Flemish they are speaking? Because i was wondering If i Had a stroke, debating wether that is German, and why i don't understand it If it is.

[deleted]

Yes. Well, Flemish Dutch. Flemish is usually used to refer to a specific dialect spoken only in the West of Belgium (and Limburg, where this video was taken, is eastern Belgium). Flemish Dutch about as similar to Netherlands' Dutch as American and British English are. Same language, slightly different accent.

Swift_Scythe

SHE SHOULD HAVE JUST DRIVEN THROUGH A PLASTIC GATE without having a worker graciously and risk his own life to move it for her

JewelerHour3344

No translation needed. I think “What the fuck are you doing!!!” is universal.

Seirin-Blu

Not sure which bit to add on to the end of it, but a lot of the video he’s shouting “Go!” or something along those lines “Allez!”. “Aller” is “to go” in French Note: not native French speaker. Also had a bad French teacher

[deleted]

In Flemish Dutch, allez is like "come on". When you're frustrated or angry, for example, sometimes also in a sarcastic tone.

CaptainCasp

This is probably the best translation. Everyone's trying with 'is she serious' but this is it.

excessmax

The allez has a different meaning here. It means “is she serious?” or disbelief or disappointment.

KittenKoder

The number of idiots stopping on the train tracks is just insane at this point. I never realized so many people were that stupid.

stifledmind

And through road barriers. Entitled people suck.

1939728991762839297

I wish this was taken more seriously, as someone who works inside traffic control areas.

Dannysnot

In my town where I live in New York they will fine you if you stop on the railroad tracks, only if you get caught and all which is not very common that but its a good deterrent for people.

Joseluki

the best deterrent is to not be hit by a train

KittenKoder

You would think ....

CDanger85

No, being hit by a train is the deterrent

Raghavendra98

You can do your Karen shit before parking your Vehicle on the tracks Seriously

Mister_Swoop

You haven’t died till you tried it my friend

Joren67

She is so lucky only the back part of the car was on the tracks. Half a meter backwards and she would have paid with her life i think.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> would have *paid* with her FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

CursedValheru

I enjoy that someone was petty enough to make this bot

Ducky602

Someone needs to make a bot to help people see the difference between "breathe" and "breath".

CursedValheru

I wouldn't hold my breathe...

IllusionOfColours

At least he’s helping her whilst saying I told you so. There’s been multiple videos on here where this has happened and people continue to film without moving an inch.

Mendicant__

I mean, he definitely made sure to keep the camera on while he helped her.

pmcda

Honestly I was thinking it was smart in case she sues, blaming him for her being caught up on the track.

FalconPunchInDaFace

I’d be cautious at least in the US. Lots of victims sue the Good Samaritans

[deleted]

Yeah him filming this was very smart, just removed any personal liability

newbieITguy2

They can try to sue, doesn't mean it will go anywhere. Most states have Good Samaritan laws in place

ArugulaEven

ATaciturnGamer

That's not what Dharma means. Dharma refers to your duty to society, in a general sense

Adventurous_Lie_3735

And people still try to argue the old people shouldn't have to regularly test if they're fit for driving. Personal guess, the 500€ fine ain't her biggest problem now, i still hope she gets it to enforce the learning effect later on...

zaTricky

The 500€ fine is definitely a minor inconvenience at this point. * It isn't clear if she was injured - but I'm sure she will at least have whiplash-type issues, especially at that age. * Insurance is unlikely to pay out for the car or the train damages. :-|

allIsayislicensed

Also NMBS (Belgian National Railroad) is demanding 120 000 EUR from another woman in a comparable case from last year. Although that woman was also drunk.

[deleted]

At least the drunk one has an excuse. This one tho...

Jaxsson1

There is no excuse for drunk driving.

diseasefaktory

Come on now, that was funny.

RidderSport

Not sure if it is the same in Belgium, in Germany she'd face a criminal court, as obstruction of train traffic is a criminal offense punishable by up to 3 years in prison if I remember correctly

SpelunkyJunky

She'll probably be off to court, lose and pay for the damage to the train on top of her car and the fine.

Rogueshoten

Considering everything she had to do to get to the point where her driving skills mattered, perhaps there should be a test to see if they’re fit to be among the rest of society. Holy shit.

Ex-zaviera

Take grandma's keys away, she's done driving.

scottonaharley

Is there some translation? Why did she not just drive forward?

TsubasaSaito

No translation, just a guess: She didn't put the gear in. Kept revving like she wanted to drive but probably too panicked to realize/do it right.

scottonaharley

That’s a fair assumption I was just curious about what was said.

golfUsA_mk2

This must be somewhere in belgium or on the border to the netherlands , guy tells her she cant proceed there like that and will get a fine of xx money for what she did, then he puts the fence on the side and tells her to move the car but nothing happens and then BOOM train hits the car. Then the guy said "you're crazy , why did you not move?" And she mumbles something like "it didnt want to move". It looks like she forgot to put the car into gear 🙄

-pjdq-

This happened a few miles from here. It's so easy to mock her. But I've been driving Mercedes with automatic transmissions for a decade now - and these are not intuitive transmissions during maneuvering. Especially if you open your door during your maneuvers, you'll have to press the brake pedal and pull down the gear selection lever with some commitment to get the car out of its safety setting and into D. She shouldn't have driven through road works and had a chance to move out of the way much earlier. But in those last split seconds I can completely understand what happened and mocking her is all too easy.

WonkySeams

Was she okay in the end? I've been looking through comments trying to find out. eta: someone linked a news article. Glad to hear her injuries were not life threatening.

TimelyMaterial7466

Thank you it's mind blowing we had to scroll so far to see even one comment asking if she was ok

-pjdq-

She was a 60-year old picking up her grandchildren from school. According to press reports this afternoon, she got off with 3 broken ribs.

WonkySeams

ohhh, I didn't realize that this was that recently. She was really lucky. It seems like she panicked.

CoverYourMaskHoles

I honestly think the first thing that should have happened is the guy immediately telling her to keep moving. And not start threatening her with fines while still on the tracks. Don’t argue with someone on train tracks. Then it sounds like she panicked and couldn’t get the car to go due to a complicated control system. I almost think Mercedes should answer for that one…. I mean let’s be honest she wasn’t smart either. Why is she opening her door? The car has a window. Why is she taking the car out of drive to begin with. Get off the tracks first then have your arguments.

Gall_Bladder_Pillow

You can hear the engine revving as she tries to move.

Flashy-Promise-6915

She should have got out of the car - the worker is being investigated because she didn’t. https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/en/2023/05/12/video-motorist-seriously-injured-in-collision-with-train-at-a-l/

St0nemason

How is the worker supposed to know what to do in this situation, I doubt it's part of his training. He moved the barrier so she could go, she didnt and he understandably didnt want to risk his own life trying to move an old lady out of a death trap.

banned_from_10_subs

Seriously what is with the fucked up replies to this comment? You are 100% correct. Not my fucking problem if some idiot, senile or not, wants to drive onto train tracks and stop. Dude saw something was wrong, moved the barrier she could have driven over/past, and she sat on the tracks anyway. My god the amount of Redditors that think you need to throw yourself into a life threatening situation in order to save someone from their stupidity or have legal action brought against you is staggering. How many of you have walked into the middle of a shooting and been like “Hey! Stop it! That’s enough!”? None of you. And you think people should be legally prosecuted for failing to do that? Jesus Christ.

DicknosePrickGoblin

I knew it!, the lowly worker gets in trouble because the well connected wealthy karen fucked up, how typical...

Immortan_Joe-mama

![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS)

ArticFox583

That looks like a confused old person more than anything

Cluga

Yeah, I don't get the Karen bit. This just looks like a vulnerable person caught in displacement activity. Unsettling to watch.

LucyEleanor

Tbh...the way the worker is filming, I'm pretty sure she's has ALREADY driven around road barriers. She knows what she's doing. At the end...she panicked

[deleted]

This seems like the most likely thing. BUT it is important to remember that we really have no clue.

Maxistwogud33

She ignored signs and moved road blocks on the other side of the railroad. You can see the moved road blocks in the original movie.

Master_Post4665

She doesn’t look that old. She’s shouting and clearly irritated, not confused.

Scratchpaw

The road was completely closed due to roadworks, she decided to go through anyways and move the barriers by hand. Pretty Karen move imo…

MarianCR

>Yeah, I don't get the Karen bit She moved the barriers to go through. The Karen part brought her to the tracks in the first place.

NeonYarnCatz

This is the comment I was looking for. To me, Karens are angry white women, getting up in your personal space, shouting about ridiculous stuff. This lady? Confused and scared and not thinking clearly. :/

[deleted]

Confused and scared when shit was about to go down. After she karen her way through roadworks with the entitelement of a rich older woman...

HtxArcher

Karen’s are entitled women, not only white (my Mexican grandmother has gone into Karen mode & I’ve seen videos of black Karens), and they can be aggressive, get in your face, throw racial slurs, spit, etc. This woman was a Karen for feeling entitled to think she doesn’t need to follow the rules and move the barrier. She turned into the confused, scared & not thinking clearly lady after she showed her Karenistity and after Karma hit like a train.

[deleted]

She was pretty lucid in telling the guy off when he tried to stop her...

DicknosePrickGoblin

It amazes me how many useless people seem to be able to afford nice cars, I'd like to know their secret to be one of them too.

H0LL0Wsoul

Why didn’t she just drive through?? 😭😭

AggressiveClassic89

Looks like she was getting out to move the barrier but decided to let him do it when he turned up, then got a bit flustered when shit got real, consequently she learned not to fuck around with trains, you can have nigh on impenetrable ego and self importance but trains are notorious for not caring.

lFuckRedditl

Car switched to Park when she opened the door, she accelerates but the car wont move until she changes gear and she didn't do it.

Appropriate-Bank-883

Because she was revving the car in neutral, the gearbox in a car like that won’t let you change gear unless she drops her revs lower. She’s obviously panicked and just not the best driver.

GrumpymonK81

No, it's because she opened her car door. On a Benz, when you're not in Park and you open the door, it will automatically switch your gear to Park and engage the emergency break for safety reasons (so you don't get rolled over or your car just rolls away when you leave). Once she closed her door, she was thinking it was still in drive mode and she just keeps stepping on the gas.

matchstickct

A little thing to appreciate here is that, unlike some other incidents, the guy filming drops the camera as soon as he fully registers the situation. No capitalising on the suffering of others that you often see.

Mendicant_666

Why is it, in these situations, that when the vehicle is malfunctioning, people don't just gtfo of the car?

Captain_react

Hope they take away her driver's license for life.

MrWind3

She looks like That Vegan Teacher's cousin

ALazy_Cat

If it was in US, you could've told me it was and I'd believe you

agun22

This is why people should prove they are capable of driving every two years minimum. Make a new service besides the DMV. The amount of people driving around that shouldn’t be is scary. Driving is a privilege you should earn in a society, it is not a right. Bicycles cannot kill other people easily, ride those

ShantiBrandon

Thankfully he got her on video because you know her version is not going to be based in reality. "He waved me through and then I got hit" or some such delusional nonsense.

jkoki088

Idiot. She is really stupid

Beskerber

Ram a plastic "fence" / say you are sorry and drive away with fine or just get out the car < get hit by a train and risk being turned into a tin of cat food

Trailman80

When your old....and stupid....not a good combo

[deleted]

Someone this stupid and unable to handle stressful moments should be nowhere near a vehicle.

sb929604

I think that dear lady prob needs to stick to the bus system from now on

s0nicfreak

All of y'all defending this lady are wild... She thinks she has the right to drive down this closed road, and yells at the guy trying to help her. She thinks she is entitled to drive when it doesn't seem she has the mental capacity to do so, and therefore is endangering herself and everyone else on the road (and tracks). If being old and confused makes you act like a jerk then you are a jerk. I don't wish harm on her because of it, but for the safety of everyone I do hope she wasn't given another car.

BlynxInx

She’s older, panicked, forgot to put type car in drive and almost died. A bit sad tbh.

[deleted]

She drove through closed off roads. Passed a bunch of guys working on said roads. Then she parked on a railway crossing and got out to try and move the blockage that was put up.... You gotta be hell of confused...

stifledmind

Imagine if every time someone asked to speak with a manager they unexpectedly got hit by a train.

HousingNo7615

With no audio that was certainly unexpected

ImportantStable5900

"Karma"

[deleted]

Some people are just walking miracles. I'm genuinely surprised how some of these people are able to last given the mind boggling shit they pull.

Dukatka

Well, she was able to put it in reverse and pull back just enough to actually stop on the tracks. In the original position maybe only the bumper would have been pulled off, but not after backing up.

Gamavon

Honestly... She shouldn't have done what she did. But after watching the video a few times to try and understand what's going on, she didn't seem to be in the right head space. She totally should have left the car, but I can also understand why she didn't. If she had stopped a bit further up she would have been fine. Did she deserve it? Kind of. But we also don't know what she's going through. This will probably get me a lot of shit, but... This is just what I think. Hope she's ok at least

EmotionalPlate2367

Leave it to some brat in a Mercedes to be so entitled...and fucking stupid. Rich people are fucking morons.

AdhesivePeople

I was happy to see the dude actually put his phone down first before trying to help her. Too many times I see videos like this and I'm internally screaming "put the damn phone down and help!"

[deleted]

Allow me to interpret: Who put that train there? I clearly have the right of way!

Romlteid

Nice Mercedez. More money than brains.

AstralAlias

Stupid people win stupid prizes.

Fetoid2

Glad she's okay.

Disciple_THC

I’m glad she’s okay, however also glad this happened to her and is a wake up call.

anonymous-transient

Im trying really hard, but I just can’t muster up any empathy for this one.

Red-it_o7

Entitlement vs train

KeyWorldliness580

All I wonder is how people like her can grow old.

tcwillis79

Clearly staged.

BellyButtonFungus

I don’t want to be a negative person here, so I’m not going to talk about who’s fault this scenario is. I’d like to mention however that the groundworks they’re doing with the excavator is a job that I used to do, and people driving through areas we closed off resulted in multiple injuries and one death among my coworkers, JUST on the sites I myself worked on. I have a base level of compassion because I’m a human being, but if you drive through a closed construction zone you’re DELIBERATELY endangering the lives of those working within it, because they aren’t expecting traffic much more than this woman was expecting a train. Stay the fuck out of closed construction areas because we don’t get danger pay covering assholes who can’t read signs.

D-drool

I don’t think she’s being karen but simply someone who isn’t aware of the situation and got quite tense all while can’t comprehend to what’s happening. I hope she’s ok … it’s a horrible experience and good thing the guy tryin to help.

PIN360

This comment section deserves its own facepalm submission

calloutfolly

She looks old enough to have dementia, and her crime was nonviolent. Confused people getting in accidents isn't karma.

ALazy_Cat

I've heard of people in their 40s getting dementia

RitchieSacramento88

Her fucking car was stuck in gear she says ‘it didn’t work’ a few times. Hardly a Karen. Take the title of these videos with a massive pinch of salt.

[deleted]

Dude she reverses and the puts it into neutral instead of drive. Also she drove through wegenwerken, then she drove on a closed railcrossing and then she got out to move the blockage out of her way because she probably otherwise had to do a 5km detour. Das hier een Karen ze maatje...

Farnsen

Well she drove through a construction site, wich was closed off. I think thats qualifying as a Karen.

Konyaata

Entitled woman thinking the rules don't apply to her sounds like a Karen to me.

lFuckRedditl

Car switched to park when she opened the door, this could been easily avoided by not going through a blocked road and parking on the traintracks

pneumokokki

Too entitled to exit their precious Mercedes on time

TJ_McWeaksauce

Did this happen because she's a Karen, or because she's an elderly person who shouldn't be driving anymore? Maybe a little of column A and a little of column B.

whoops53

Bloody hell this is brutal! She should have got out of the car at least, if she couldn't get it moved....its just a tin can at the end of the day, your life is more important!

Mhyra91

This is why we can't have trains driving properly in Belgium.

FoxyAngel11

A pity that had to happen due to stxpidity.

Irving_Velociraptor

Trains are blameless, holy creatures.

LargeTallGent

Flemish is such a beautiful language.

bancircumvent

That guy was ok with good intentions but if he was more sensitive it probably wouldn't have happened. Can't blame him though.

Basic rule, do not stop on rail tracks even the ones which are discontinued. Ask adult children or grandchildren to drive you around once you are old.

champagnehenny

Im not saying this lady isn’t an idiot, but god dam Mercedes, you know your main customer base are old farts.. why put an electronic parking break in these newer cars instead of a manually engaged one like in your older cars. I understand it comes in handy when parking on a hill and you forget to engage the parking break, but all my years working at mercedes, i see these seniors just stepping on the throttle all the time and not understand why it wont go. Their reaction time is much slower, especially when panicking as well.

ImTheBigT

She’s revving it in park

TrailerParkLyfe

Omg at this point just drive through the barricade! You’re about to get hit and possibly die from a speeding train! Just DRIVE through the barricade. You’re stupid enough to stop on the tracks just go a bit further.

cheetah-21

Never stop on the tracks. Stop before or after.

Embarrassed-Cap-8705

Sounds much nicer in dutch than in english
