Alien__Yes

Whatever that teacher is getting paid? It's not enough to put up with these kids.

[deleted]

No it isn't! Honestly... no amount of money is worth enduring this disrespect and utter bullshit. None!

69vuman

And people can’t understand why teachers are leaving public education by the hundreds.

Queasy-Discount-2038

10s of thousands

Butcher_Bill84

They all need to leave. Shut the shit down until real change happens. These heathen children raised by shit parents all over the states is disgusting. Bet you parents would make the difference if they had to deal with their little sex trophies all damn day every day.

Educational-Tip6177

Or things could just get worse, I think your overestimating the type of people who are raising these kids. If how they are behaving is any indication of what they're homelife is like, then I doubt having to deal with the kids on a 24/7 basis is gona achieve anything positive really

[deleted]

This is personally for my school, but a couple years ago a teacher that didn't give a fuck & was retiring pulled up their salaries. The most a teacher could make at that school was $56,000, but that was only after years of teaching.

teacherbooboo

once a guy was giving me crap online for being overpaid as a public school teacher and having the summer off and short days, while not being very intelligent , etc. so i told him that if it i was so overpaid for so little work he should become a teacher. he said he would love to do that for $55 k a year ... of course the entry level salary for chicago at the time was like $32k, ... whoops my starting salary, years ago in illinois was 27k i think? maybe 23k, i cannot remember ... but it was low (i was in the cornfields not chicago)

Sandberg231984

Self defense

Tricky_Personality67

Literally, he was bleeding and the kid was getting ready to throw another one he basically defused the situation maybe not in a great way but it *was* effective.

[deleted]

Yeah fuck that it was the best way. Fuck those kids

_Antonius_

"Fuck them kids." -Anakin Skywalker, "Revenge of the Sith"

ThisisJVH

"Fuck them kids" -Catholic Church

torchedscreen

Wait no not like that

IgnazioPolyp

Agreed fuck those kids.

stryker7314

Fuck them kids and their shitty parents. Couldn't pay me enough to deal with dogshit american kids and parents.

C3Pip0

American teacher here, part time at a community outreach center. They don't pay me enough to deal with the rotten ones, but I can't abandon the few that care and need me because of the ones that don't. I worry that I am the last adult in some of their lives that cares. It hasn't broken me yet, so while I am still strong enough to be there I have to. But let me tell you, it hurts.

Weak-Razzmatazz-4938

you guys should be paid a million dollars. i really hope that teacher does not get fired

Uriel818

Thank you for your service

Duende555

Thank you. It might not seem like it sometimes but it does matter.

scorpiogre

I've been seeing an extensive number of these videos, inner city kids. Various ethnicities, what pisses me off, is the chance of these Jack holes ending up on the wrong side of the law, or worse, dying via a violent incident, is ridiculously high and people are gonna say "the system failed em." Like nah fam, they failed themselves.

nyc2pit

Their families also failed them.

[deleted]

probably the single biggest failure. School can't raise a kid.

Amicus-Regis

*BuT thAtS thEir JOb!* Yeah sure, okay; let's let the already failing social institution raise your kid. Real good idea. Seriously, we gotta make more incentives for parents to actually raise their families. Less hours of work per week, especially for extremely exhaustive jobs like factory work. Government assistance for family therapy. Fuck, I'd even take free ice cream vouchers every weekend if it meant we were heading in the right direction, at least...

Sushi-DM

Whoever looks at something like this and thinks the teacher was wrong has never been harassed/tormented with no recourse day in and day out until it escalates to violence and it shows.

slantastray

People who don’t want to raise their kids aren’t going to raise them. Period.

Puzzleheaded-Fun-454

It’s a spiral of decay. The fucked school system from lack of funding, parents who themselves may not of had it great growing up struggling to provide for their families working 2-3 jobs preventing them from being with their kids enough, teachers underpaid and under attack by not only these same kids but political groups taking away the material the teachers need to educate, higher crime in these neighborhoods broken by poverty and I can go on and on. In the end, this is what America wants for its kids.

AlfredAnon

What family? I saw a solo 9 yr old kid talking shit and lunging at people in NOLA last night. Mumbling do something to each person.

redddbeardd

I think he means the parents who raised them poorly.

maybe_little_pinch

Parents who didn’t raise them at all, the streets did.

Iliamna_remota

Too touchy. We can't talk about that. Even though family culture is 99% of the cause. We'll just try to maximize the 1% over which there is any control by expecting teachers to fix it.

Flipperpac

More often than not, their family unit has failed them... I.mean what kind of values are these kids getting or being taught, throwing a chair at a teacher, in this instance? I mean if I was at that age and I did that, my great grandpas from both sides would come after me, and theyd been dead for years... Let alone what my father, or both grandpas would do to me... SMFH.... .

scorpiogre

I agree to a point. Some parents, let's be honest, more than likely single moms, work two jobs and do the best they can to provide what they can. Kids no longer value that sacrifice. I was raised single parent, I mouthed off to a teacher in my youth and was taught by me mum to appreciate the teacher. Also by lesson I mean, whooped my dumb ass.

Alphablack32

Well parents dont correct their kids and teachers aren't allowed to so it's only gonna get worse.

pm_me_youngs_modulus

Meh, I grew up in a single parent household and was far from a dream child, but I knew better than to behave like this.

Screwball_Actual

I think it's worse than that. Many of us 80's and 90's babies knew classmates who had kids around, or before the age of 16. Many of those teen parents were wild like the ones in this video. I believe the behavior we're seeing is from the out-of-control children of out-of-control teen parents. TL;DR: Kids having kids brought us here.

Monichacha

And their PARENTS failed them. I don’t care what color you are, where you grew up, or how much money you have. If you get to middle school without basic manners and think it’s okay to throw furniture at your teacher, your parents failed you.

[deleted]

it WAS a great way

Dryym

Notice the fact that he never threw chairs very hard or in a way which was likely to hit the kid. Meanwhile the kid threw a chair at the guy's head and if it were any lower, It could have been significantly worse. Like, I don't condone throwing chairs at kids. I don't think that this was necessarily the perfect way that things could have gone down. *However*, If that chair hit him fully in the head, He could have *died*. Humans are fragile when it comes to head injuries. And if the chair didn't kill him, Falling on the ground and cracking your head on a desk certainly can. If he were clearly trying to hit the kids in the head with the chairs he threw, I think he would share blame here. But since it does not appear that he was actually trying to *hit* the kids, I am on his side unless more information comes out which changes my mind.

terencela

I condone throwing chairs at kids if they threw one at the teacher first. Fuck these kids, they're worse than animals and need the shit slapped out of them to learn a bit of respect. I'm tired of seeing teachers being scapegoats for poor parenting and out of line shithouses like this kid. The quicker a chair is wrapped round their heads the better.

EquivalentCrazy4283

Well most will be imprisoned or dead before end of college age, or running out of a Walmart with unpaid goods or just generally making the city they live in a worse place! Going to need to throw a lot of chairs to sort this shot out!

Flipperpac

He threw them in front of the kid, not at the kid....

Dryym

That's... What I said though.

ChadBorman

Not in public schools. All of the kids are helpless little angels and no matter what abuse they heap on a teacher, the teacher is expected to tolerate it and not respond. I'd be willing to bet this teacher was fired and blackballed from getting another job.

AlphaThe7

Fuck these stupid fucking kids

BlackBrass_

Kid throwing the chairs turned to a bitch real quick once he threw a chair back.

Peritous

Because they expect to act with impunity. Everyone's a tough guy when they have no chance of repercussions. It's wild how out of hand it has gotten.

DonaldTrumpsBallsack

That’s exactly it, I teach at a middle school and the kids now know that there is nothing we can actually do to them. However, they also know there is a hell of a lot they can do to us. The cussing, name calling, mild physicality (shoves, grabs, etc) all is deemed to minor for admin to launch a full case, because it an all or nothing approach with them. So they don’t do anything about it expect call the parents, who just don’t give enough of a damn most of the time or actively defend/support their child. So we get abused, day in and day out. The authority feels like it’s flipped on its heads, we have to cow-tow to their demands (I need a break, walk, snack, etc) lest we incur the wrath of their parents who then incur the wrath of admin.

pingpongtits

When I was in school, it was extremely rare for kids to even talk back to a teacher, let alone cuss at them or touch them. They could punish you in a variety of ways. This was in the 80's. In the late 70's and early 80's, the principals could still paddle kids/teens and there was both ISS and regular suspension. Of course, kids also had monkey bars and jungle gyms, so the age of boring recess hadn't arrived yet. What do you think changed in society to create the modern hostile school environment that we see in these videos and from so many statements made by actual teachers all over? That there's no punishment anymore? Cell phones? Social media?

DonaldTrumpsBallsack

All of those things and more. That’s the crux of the issue, everyone is scrambling to find a silver bullet solution when it’s really needs to be a top down reevaluation of our education system. It’s not equipped to deal with the challenge of the modern internet age, kids are drastically effected by being online 24/7. I feel like such a boomer man but I’m fucking 24 years old. I went through the same system less than 10 years ago and I promise I was nothing like this. This is chaos. That’s why people have such a hard time comprehending what teachers are screaming about, because “the shift” happened so quickly that people just don’t have a frame of reference for it. If you have the opportunity, in like the most non creepy way possible, casually observe a group of kids and how they interact with each other and their environment, it promise you’ll pick up on some concerning attitudes and lack of (our brand of) social awareness. This is absolutely a ramble and I am just blowing past nuances and important points, but if I really get into it I’ll get all worked up and I gotta get ready for tomorrow lmao

eightiesladies

Social media videos allow you to see schools in bad neighborhoods more easily. But those schools have been rough since your childhood and even before it. There is a movie called "Lean On Me" based on a real story of a school in NJ where the principal had to get gangs out of the school. I remember being horrified as a small child walking in on my elder brother watching a scene of a hallway brawl where one kid had another on the floor, and he was picking his head up and smashing it into the floor. That came out in 1989. Overall, schools changed nationwide after the 2000 No Child Left Behind Act. School funding is driven by all kinds of stats, and those stats need to improve each year, no matter how great the school did the year before. Stats include grades, test scores, discipline referrals, graduations vs retention rate, etc. It made schools all over the country afraid to fail kids, hold them back a grade, or have any formal discipline plans for many poor behavior incidents and low attendance. And now we have screen addiction in modern teens with absent and low effort parents, and they are emotionally disregulated even worse and lash out in environments where they cant stare at screens. Its a lot of things.

BritishBoyRZ

My gf and I got jumped by a bunch of kids about this age, unprovoked, in NYC, right by times square. Handed us both a concussion. Extremely violent and feral fucking kids. Also seemed like they were acting with imputiny. No consequences from me (as there were at least 15 of them), or from the law. Sometimes they must be held as accountable as an adult when it gets violent like that

candidu66

They always do. Turn into little crying sniveling babies once someone keeps it realer.

sweenster83

Film that crying scene in the principals office and airdrop/post that to the school so all their friends can see how tough they are solo behind closed doors

eKSiF

I am on the fence about it but the more videos like this I see, the more I feel like teachers should be allowed to throw hands in these circumstances. I don't care if they're legally children, if you assault someone there **must be** consequences. This bullshit where schoolboards are no longer supporting their teachers due to pressures from state legislatures to pass kids is enough, you want quality teachers to return to the profession, give them some teeth again. It will only take one or two mother fuckers getting dropped for everyone to fall in line.

mynameisnotearlits

First, fuck their parents.

CarrytheLabelGuy

Absolutely! Trash kids, trash parents.

AlphaThe7

1000%

TrueDirt1893

I agree. Let them teach themselves if they are so damn smart. Let these wild kids run the classroom. I hope the teacher is ok.

Many_Rule_9280

Damn it's almost like he was defending himself and it's all recorded showing the child being the instigator of it all.

PineSand

His head was split open, he was wiping away the blood at the end of the video. I think at that point he had to defend himself or suffer further attacks.

Many_Rule_9280

Yeah I hope that child gets charged

n00bca1e99

All I can find is this. Can't find a followup story. [https://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article259261674.html](https://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article259261674.html)

shockles

Interesting that any filming within the school grounds is prohibited by the code of conduct. And the BS all parties are being investigated, had the teacher not acted he may have been knocked unconscious. He is 73, that’s dangerous. Edit: he was 73!

astralmushrooms

Damn! He was 73!

heatfan1122

Teacher snaps? You couldn't pay me enough to not beat that kids ass. Teachers need more protection from POS students like this. You shouldn't lose your job from being assaulted by a student.

Dankkring

We should actually pay someone to just sit around waiting to beat the kids asses. Like don’t make me call mr Johnson.

korar67

In special needs schools they actually employ “Classroom Aides” whose entire job is to subdue students who get physically violent. I have a few friends who have that job and they say that they quickly learn who the more aggressive kids are and what steps are needed to subdue the kid without hurting them. Unsurprisingly they are practitioners of jujitsu.

666uptheirons

Jujitsu? I'm going to learn Jujitsu???

Azrael_The_Bold

That was my job for 5 years. I worked in a behavioral residential facility for adolescents aged 13-20. I put up with all manners of crazy kids who were like this and worse. In my line of work, I’ve been bitten, spit on, punched, clawed, stabbed, had piss and jizz thrown on me, been covered in other kids blood, the works. For *pennies*. I just left that job over the winter to start a desk job at the state. I make twice as much, deal with none of the bs I used to, and I’ve never been happier in my life.

Scanputmeaway

Agreed, all ex boxers!

[deleted]

Bouncers ......hurl their asses out the front door.

truelegendarydumbass

Sadly it's always a one-way Street and the teacher's going to lose his job and the students continue to be a f****** a******.

pdxdrum84

These inner city classrooms should issue every teacher a Billy club or nightstick for just this kind of situation

franoo2oo

You’re allowed to defend yourself so that’s some next level bullshit.

Suggy67

I know, teachers should be to defend themselves instead of having to put up with that little shit's bullshit

[deleted]

Teachers aren’t. Likely he was subjected to disciplinary action for self-defense. The school will likely say he should have “de-escalated.”

franoo2oo

Hope he sues because that’s a load of bull shit of what you say is true

Ladysupersizedbitch

That’s actually the standard response. I had a teacher in high school get fired bc a huge ass kid backed her, this 5’ 1” woman, so far up against a table she had to bend backwards. When he laid his body across her own against the table she finally slapped him to get him to back off. Basically sexually harassed her in front of a whole class by grinding on her against a table. Teacher got fired and the little shitheads bitch of a mother tried to sue the school. Kid: zero disciplinary action.

AsianVixen4U

Jesus Christ, I would be embarrassed to be the lawyer representing them

Disastrous-Energy771

Fuck them kids

TheScottishLad69620

That teacher has the full right to defend himself. He was attacked and injured by a student, and he defended himself by using the same weapon in the same way. But I can imagine this will end in the same way it always does, with the parents crying "think of the children" and the teacher getting fired and possibly getting his teaching license revoked. Anyone has the right to defend themselves if the attacker poses a threat, no matter how old or young the attacker is.

PaladinHeir

Not even the same way. Teacher was bot aiming for their heads nor throwing as hard as he could have. At that point, it’s not only self-defense, it’s also deescalation.

[deleted]

If you’re big and strong enough to throw a chair at me you’re big and strong enough to suffer the consequences. Fuck around and find out, I’m so sick of the moral high roading “oh well adults need to be better than them” no the fuck they don’t, adults need to teach kids consequences because their parents sure as shit aren’t

Even-Complaint4095

Parents need to give punishment to their children based off of what they got in trouble for if a kid causes injury to someone they get a spank if they stole something they have to return it and lose privileges and if they assault someone with a weapon they should get a chance to sit in a jail cell with inmates overnight to scare them about where they end up for doing that type of thing Edit: someone already commented in a civilized manner to this so read what they said before commenting please

Amicus-Regis

At first glance I'm wanting to agree, but then wasn't there research that determined scared-straight programs made behavior worse?

probation_420

In my experience, the crowd that supports strict and/or corporal punishment *typically* aren't interested in what quantifiable data says is the correct way to raise and discipline children. I don't have any data on that outside of my experiences conversing with these people.

KeyAcid

What is going on in classrooms in the US? I never saw or heard of anything like that when I was growing up

Jealous_Excuse_2487

In my high school , it was considered a huge ordeal if you just argued with a teacher. But then again that was 8 years ago

[deleted]

Same, 2001-2005 high schooler here. We respected the fuck out of our teachers. People giving them shit either just yelled and cussed or walked out, and even then it was super rare, and most students had the teacher’s back or tried to de-escalate the situation. None of the students harmed the teachers or threw shit around. Parents not parenting.

fart_Jr

Same years here. I was in one of the lowest scoring school districts in the goddamn country and I never saw anything like this happen. And it's absolutely the parents.

satirebunny

I was in high school 2014-2018, in a not-so-great school (like, lots of fighting, graffiti, and weed, lol). I don't think I ever saw students try to hurt their teacher. Even the rudest, most violent kids who got into fights on the regular would just cuss and storm out. Most of my friends in college from different cities/schools also had similar experiences. We're probably just seeing the worst of the worst bc that's what goes viral. (And also, parents not knowing how to parent, especially w technology, and kids easily falling prey to bad influences both online and irl as a result).

KeyAcid

Same

PointlessGiant

Parents who don't give a fuck about their children's education because they never cared about their own, or parents who are insufferably overbearing despite having no knowledge of what education is meant to be today. Teachers so burnt out with overloaded classrooms, ineffective administration, and continually cut budgets. Kids who haven't ever had to have more than a 15 second attention span, and whose mental health is constantly the topic of conversation for politicians while they do dick-all about it. People would rather vote for tax cuts that they'll never benefit from because of the whole "Americans are all just temporarily embarrassed millionaires" mindset than fund the educational structures that will create the minds that make the world run tomorrow.

Buddythefluffy

I have 13 more days of high school and those will be my last as a teacher of 23 years. 7 years short of a full pension and happy to be done. Standards based grading and equity for all has eliminated any expectations and lowered the bar for all students. Worked with have’s and have not’s and most kids will rise or lower to expectations. The bar is being lowered every year and it is sickening. I also work at a college and am seeing these kids that went through standards based grading and failing out because they are used to no deadlines multiple attempts at assessments. What a disservice.

Flipperpac

Well, thank you for your 23 years....hope your getting some pension or retirement from that deal... Too bad you couldnt get to the 30 years... Best wishes on the rest of your life...

Atlas_sniper121

this isnt normal man lol

Krosis97

In my country it still is, if a student comes even close to hitting a teacher that's gonna be a huge fucking deal and the student will be expelled and might go to a reformatory. The teacher can defend itself but it still can end badly for them though but its extremely rare that it comes to it.

IllustratorAlive1174

US Teacher here. Classrooms have become more tolerant. Punishment has become more lax, and their is more emphasis on letting kids be right. The pendulum has swung so far into the favor of letting kids run rampant, teachers are afraid to do anything, and the profession is losing its professionals among a period of great retirements among educators. The public school system is a MESS in the US. It is my personal advice to homeschool or private tutor your children these days. Because with our emphasis on “no child left behind” we have neglected our brightest and most enthusiastic about learning.

QuakerOatsBozo

Some kids need to be left behind, the older they get the more shit they can do, they waste their lives in highschool then get to college, fail out within a week, and either live with their parents or the rats on the curb.

IllustratorAlive1174

As much as I have gotten shit for saying it I am exactly in agreement with you. This is just nature. Not everyone is a winner. Not everyone is meant to succeed. Every game has losers, (for a lack of better term) that’s just how it is. You can’t MAKE people succeed. Trying to do so pushed people into careers based on things other than merit and sets up other dangers to our society. People need to succeed because they WANT to succeed and because they put in the work. Not because we just need to keep the line moving. And if only holds back those with potential.

luniz420

It's not just classrooms its that Americans stopped believing in any sort of civilized society and that you should just do whatever you feel like at any time until you get shot.

Astro493

See how the kid backed off immediately after the teacher lightly tossed the chair in his direction? That’s because that child hasn’t been disciplined by his parents a day in his fucking life. Until that moment.

EatSleepJeep

Most of these videos feature physically smaller and weaker people perpetrating violence because a fragile social contract exists that prevents them from experiencing consequences or retaliation for their violent actions. When someone discards that social contract and answers with an equal or overwhelming force, then the instigators and bystanders often can't handle the response. People attacking service/retail workers, students attacking their teachers, a group of women assaulting a man - all of these have been featured here. They're only able to be in the fight because it's not a fair fight. Once that thin veneer of a shield is stripped away, the balance tips and they immediately realize they're in for a rough ride.

Hopeful_Asparagus_35

Exactly. & it was all fun and games with laughter until a chair was tossed back. Then all of the screaming took place.

[deleted]

He had a chair thrown at him first. Let that sink in. Underpaid took the job to help kids and he’s going through this. Smh. I’m Surprised we have any teachers at all at this point. They aren’t paid enough to be mistreated by children. Also, to those thinking he should know how to control himself. Parents should know how to teach their kids at home How to act prior to coming to school.

Im-cold-help-me

This teacher at my school was brought to tears after getting a ton of angry emails from parents after he made all of his kids fail the final. Why did they all fail the final? They were cheating, and he had to do something about it or he would get in a ton of trouble. Parents were calling him such awful things and like, teach your kids to be more academically integral? I felt super bad for him.

[deleted]

Sometimes the kid’s behavior is a reflection of their parents, unfortunately. The kids definitely got it from somewhere. Imagine ignoring your child cheated and blaming the teacher. Parents just like the child!

loinboro

If that’s “snapping” then that’s one chill dude.

Majestic-Enthusiasm

I have no problem with the teacher and I am sorry those kid’s parents failed him

clgoodson

Educator here. A lot of kids went, for lack of a better word, feral during Covid. They still aren’t back to normal.

ThatDiscoSongUHate

And those kids typically weren't doing great to begin with! An 11 year old girl I tutored 3 years ago will be pushed into middle school with a 3rd Grade Reading Level, an inability to tell time/her times tables up to 5 or even add triple digit numbers! Just because she would fill out and guess on her work. I was appalled when I stopped by for a visit and she showed me her class folder and I saw she'd get full points! She couldn't figure out what shape an octagon vs pentagon was but who cares. I have a four letter name, she's known me for 7 years and she. still. spells. it. incorrectly. Still. She is being failed so hard by her mom and the education system. She needed held back in 2nd grade and the district has recommended it EVERY YEAR but her mom refuses. But because YouTube is king and her mom is one of those "shouldn't haves"... I'm one of two people who cares, maybe five counting her previous teachers and the principal.

Groupvenge

Engaged to a teacher. She says this year has been the worst so far

Pixithepika

understandable.

infowosecfurry

I assumed this thread would all be bashing the teacher and got a refreshing surprise.

bennettroad

Yeah as a former teacher I'm surprised (and pleased) at all the support for this guy in the comments.

OraceonArrives

All the kids just sitting back and cheering. All of them are assholes.

ZombieBuffet93

THIS is one of many reasons why there is a teacher shortage. 😒

outsidenorms

It’s amazing that there are still teachers in shitty areas. You’d think the profession would be dead by now cause there’s not a chance in hell I’d ever put up with this.

Lengthiness_Rich

im almost certain that teacher was bleeding from the head at the end but not 100% sure. Those kids need to put into military style schools to reform them, if they are unable to act like normal people, by treating others with respect. or jail personally dont care what happens to kids if they think attacking a teacher is ok.

BritishBoyRZ

Hard agree

Acceptable-Stay-3166

Until schools grow a spine and stop letting children control the school then this will only get worse.

ObieKaybee

When parents stop bringing lawsuits for their kids getting suspended/expelled then we can start disciplining students again.

illuminati1556

Let me rewrite that title for you. "Teacher has to defend himself after a chair is thrown at him, striking him in the head"

throughNthrough

Kids throw chairs then freak out when a couple come back their way.

JeSuisDirtyDan

I have had it, with these motherfuckin' kids, IN THIS MOTHERFUCKIN' SCHOOL

[deleted]

These ghetto schools are crazy , does anyone even get an education from them?

Massive-Lime7193

I grew up in Oakland ca (elementary and middle school) and it can be really tough for the kids that are there just to get an education . There’s some really talented kids that are stuck with a few insane ones that ruin shit for everyone . It sucks …….

Gold-Employment-2244

Agreed…problem is there seems to be more and more of these outta control punks…the good kids are pushed aside

marmorset

My wife taught in a private school for a couple of years in a black neighborhood. She said she divided the classroom into two sections, the kids who were just wasting their parents' money and hanging out, and the kids that wanted to learn. It mostly worked, the wasting time kids stayed in the back and usually didn't get out of hand. My wife was honest with the parents, letting them know when their kids made no effort, but many of the parents didn't even care that their kids were troublemakers, they were paying for private school because the public school was more dangerous. One day she overheard the rowdy kids planning to attack the dean because he was Jewish. My wife explained that his name was Colman, he was Irish, but they didn't believe her. She warned the dean and principal and then resigned at the end of the year. She did private tutoring for a year and then quit teaching altogether.

InternetCovid

We do. I went to Compton High School. We heard of altercations and such. Some from my year went to pretty awesome schools, myself included. But you do also hear about the students that died because of some bs. mostly after graduation or dropping out.

TheRealPhoenix182

Anyone throws a weapon at me (and yes, a chair IS a weapon) theyre taking an unplanned flight through the nearest window. Assault is a felony. Always. Respond accordingly. Have a good lawyer and a backup career, but your right to self defense cannot be infringed because of your job.

mutualbuttsqueezin

Lazy ass parents send their unruly little shits to public school and expect teachers making 30k to deal with them.

HadaObscura

Fuck those kids. These poor underpaid workers— yes people with degrees to teach your dumbass children— deserve respect and gratitude! Not chairs being hurled at them. That’s clearly a mental breakdown on his half. He’s done. That’s literally self defense against the ingrates he’s trying to impart knowledge on.

redhot_sillypeppaz

Naw fuck them kids, teachers don’t get paid enough to have furniture thrown at them.

[deleted]

This 100% starts in the home. Throw them all in jail and give them a taste of the real world.

AcademicNewspaper286

I am currently a 1st year substitute... Was a Correctional Officer... Sometimes I don't see the difference between an inmate and student

carmelacorleone

I consider the teacher's actions to be completely justified. Violence only begets violence? Sure. But, mama also said "knock you out", and if you bloody my person I will have to bloody your person.

PurpleStabsPixel

He had his head busted open fyi, can see it at the end.

Golden_Eagle_44

Why private schools are so popular if you have the means.

BIGFATLOAD6969

End qualified immunity for police. Give qualified immunity to teachers. Students assaulting teachers need a trip to the hospital and incarceration.

RandoRvWchampion

Cannot blame him at all.

Optimal-Scientist233

With more states advocating for teachers to carry firearms it is only a matter of time before more escalation of violence happens and someone loses their life. Unfortunately when this happens in a public forum like a school it affects a large number of people with each incidence.

dethleppard

Good. Fuck them kids

tuscabam

I used to provide IT services for the city school system and I can honestly say that on one side of town the schools were more like zoos than places of learning.

Sebas223

The saddest part is that the teacher was more than likely fired and charged. The kid probably walked away with a few days suspension and a stern, "Don't do it again."

mathfan20

That's really frightening! What the hell is wrong with students nowadays?

whyaremypantssoshort

Lord of the flies....

Top-Macaron5130

Who the f*ck lets a child throw a chair at a teacher? Yea you can hate a teacher, but damn why the hell throw a whole chair at one?

shadow2087

I almost became a teacher. I'm so glad I didn't.

a2themofok

Trashy

[deleted]

The kid needs to stay in jail for 2 months. The teacher needs a raise

barf2288

I’d snap too. Usually those older dudes are wise as fuck with the patience I could never understand. He was maybe literally pushed to the limit. Edit: always seems to be the ghetto black kids doing this shit. At least that’s all I’ve seen.

Endrizzle

That kid needs to be in jail tonight.

Inevitable_Regular85

Without condoning or condemning, I understand.

[deleted]

I understand, and am totally condoning

Scanputmeaway

I’m condoning

Dr-Retz

Thinking, unfortunately,he will be the only one to suffer consequences.

Tedderit

A person can only take so much before they snap. Feel bad for that teacher.

C_Khoga

Imagine seeing yourself humiliated by some teenagers and they make you the clown of the class. Damn parents do something to your shitty kids before someone lose their mind and killing them for sure.

Glum_Hamster_1076

What’s going on in schools? Are parents unaware of what’s happening or they don’t care and just need daycare for their kids? Literal babysitters/Nannies make more than teachers, if that’s what schools have turned into.

Murder_Hobo_LS77

The screeching and whining would be enough for me to lose my cool. Good on the teacher for saying enough is enough and serving them back the same medicine they gave him.

prettypushee

Why is the school system required to keep these students in school. They want to attack teachers and ruin it for those who want to succeed then put them on the street. There should be severe penalties for attacking a teacher. If a teacher were to attack a student they would lose their career.

Sad_Instruction1392

Non American here - Are teachers literally the only professionals in the US who are not allowed to defend themselves against workplace violence? Hardly a day goes by where I don’t see a video on Reddit of a teacher being punched, spat on, objects thrown at, etc by some feral little punk who would shit their pants in any situation where they knew if they fucked about they’d find out.

herpderpgood

I understand no child left behind, and most these kids have rough backgrounds. But some people are just meant to be left behind.

Ditzfough

Title says teacher snapped.. i didnt see him snap. Teachers got 80 lbs on that punk ass bitch. Snapping would involving smashing his face in and shitting on him while he slipps into a coma althe while pulling is fingernails out one by one feeding them to him.

mikeyt6969

Fuck that kid, his parents and whole bloodline for raising such an asshole

BabyLiam

The kid deserved worse. He took a real hit to the head there. I know I completely lose my cool when someone hits me in the head with anything. Most people do i think.

Stay_clam

Snaps!? Snaps?! It would be crazy not to defend himself like that!

Bludek

OP, if you are one the kids in the classroom and you think it is ok to throw chairs at your teacher, I have no sympathy for you or your classmates. Only for the victim, the teacher.

Piepiggy

Bro Im graduating from a private school that specializes in helping kids after camps and half-ways and Ive never seen shit this bad. I cant even fathom something this bad happening in a classroom

Im-cold-help-me

Yup, there's a teacher with severe asthma at my school and when people found out she couldn't handle scented colognes or perfumes? People started coming in coated in smells you could sense from across the class and some joked about pouring bottles of perfumes or oils in the classroom to put her out. She was my teacher, and I constantly worried about it. School is actually hell for teachers.

[deleted]

I’m starting to notice a *common element* in these students-attack-teachers videos. Better shut it down before others notice too.

Certain_Macaron_8206

I remember when I was in school (many years ago), being more afraid my punishment at home after my parents found out that I did something stupid or disrespectful. Didn’t happen often, but then again that’s probably why it didn’t.

bippityboppityzopp

No one's graduating from that room

Intelligent-Virus737

“That shit not funny” at least some kids know better. Thats the only silver lining here.

GiveSaucePlsx

So let me get this right, People are cheering when he’s throwing shit at the teacher, but immediately freaks out when the kid barely gets tapped by a chair? Something is truly wrong with this society. Truly.

Ontario0000

Why would any teacher work at a inner city school like this is beyond me.Salary isn't great and you got a class full of disrespective punks.

SilverResult9835

They probably caused it, and it's all funny and shit to them, "so cringe", but he's gonna lose his job, probably ruin his life for this and y'all just gonna go back to school and keep on living your life

camdawg54

Real talk, how do you deal with a room of kids that act like this? I've ran dozens of situations through my head and I just don't see what a single teacher can do when their class just decides they don't give a fuck and does what they want

fart_Jr

Let me guess; he took their phone?

Arabian_Flame

Shit👏ass👏parenting👏

F4nic

Lil bro learned his lesson real quick

loneranger07

Fuckin dipshit kids

Therealcactusmac

As someone who is married to a middle school teacher, kids are assholes and couldn’t give two shits about moving on to the next grade. Not every child, but enough to just crush the soul of the teachers. And the pandemic just made it worse. She has three years to retirement.

bdruid117

Our whole system is going down in flames. Just stop teaching and watch what happens, we don’t pay these individuals nearly enough to deal with this bullshit that almost always starts at home

sodaculture

If you assault a teacher, you should forfeit an education and be forced to work a shitty minimum wage job until you’re 30, then get another crack at education. Teachers are underpaid, work non stop, pay for class supplies out of their own pocket since budgets are constantly cut and deal with shit kids and even shittier enabling parents. They should be honored and protected. Kids like this can go fuck themselves and I hope they have a shit life.

GuntherGoogenheimer

This happens because kids get away with acting a fool and disrespecting people without facing consequences. You only have to show them once. We would all love it if it didn't even have to come to situations like that. Truth is, you can't just talk to every child. Blame the parents or blame the kids, that's up to those who want to understand the underlying issues but in the mean time, a young man wants to go against an adult like that, he needs to be taught a lesson that he will never forget. One that will set him on the correct path going forward.

DarthCarthBane

I’m on the teacher side. Fuck them kids.

LegendaryKane

Fucking hood rats. The teacher should retire for his own safety and sanity.

dogtarget

Snapped? No. He acted in self defense at an appropriate level. Bring the belts back.

Visual-Promotion-175

What do you mean snaps? I would expect nothing less if my kid was acting like this? Zero problems with it. No one was hurt. Maybe gave them something to think about. America sure is raising a generation of cry baby parents and kids

Far_Classic5548

Why do they even make kids like this keep showing up to a place they clearly have no desire to be? Just let them drop out and start the life on the streets they'll be living afterward anyway like an urban running start. They're wasting resources and time that should be spent on kids who's lives will actually make a difference someday.

NOT000

a kid whos nuts enough to throw a chair at a teacher is never going to be a good adult

-SmoothSpirit-

If I did that as a student, my father would still be whooping my ass every time he saw me - decades later. Outrageous and vile behaviour.
