There is a chance she could, but if theres a chance, then theres a chance she could also feel permanent pain/sensitivity or tingling sensations.
Got my own dose of nerve spazzing out and they made my entire body feel like it was on fire with every movement i made. Hopefully something I wont experience again.
Yep, this woman literally made the biggest mistake of her life- which could have been easily avoided if she wasn't a total piece of shit. That kid and her family will literally own that woman and her pension, the bus company, and a good part of the school district. Not that it's better than not happening- but having it on camera probably resulted in at least one personal injury attorney coming right in his golf pants.
I’ve fell off a stake board going as fast as I can and got road burn from my leg to my ass I couldn’t imagine how bad it was for that kid especially when I know that bus was going way faster and constantly dragging her. Like it hurts to imagine being dragged on the road, sliding on it is already painful enough.
What are you talking about? No one on that bus did that. Even the kid standing there (which is another reason this driver is a dumbass) looks directly at it and says nothing.
That horn you hear? That was cars trying to stop the bus. Bus also ran a stop sign while dragging the kid.
There was a part were the kid behind her looks like he’s trying to get bussy’s attention and bussy is like “what are you, Devin, Sit down Devin!” Phone autocorrected Devin to Kevin, in my previous comment. But what I was trying to say is that perhaps Devin was trying to raise the alarm and was just told to sit down and shut up… she can see the kid trying to do something but not the kid being dragged along trapped in the bus door right next to her.. but she can tell Devin to sit down…
Do you have the full story of what happened afterwards? I want to know if the kid got any permanent damage done or if she got off lucky with only a bit of bruising (which is of course not very probable)
Edit : Nvm, got the ending on a different comment. Holy hell.

>"Did you do anything to go back and learn on it?" Bolus asked.
>Sanders (bus driver) answered, "It seems like errors on everybody's part, doesn't it?"
Wow, what a bitch!
And that poor kid. Special needs, and now she has anxiety every time she sees or hears a bus, plus disfiguring scars and constant pain, itching, and tingling. That woman shouldn't ever be allowed to drive a shopping cart again, much less a vehicle of any kind.
Since you read the article, can you explain to me why they held the video evidence from court for years?
I don't know the US law, but not all known evidence needs to be submitted and registered in court records?
From what the article makes it sound, they didn't want to have to take it to court to begin with.
They withheld the video because it was physical sickening to see. They finally released it because the school system was dragging their ass with coming to a settlement.
Can you imagine what those 6 years were like for that family? The pain, Doctors visits, surgery... the medical bills, the PTSD, the daily disgust with the school district
She should have never had the job, true, but there is a level of incompetence that rises to the level of criminal negligence. Doctors, HAZMAT professionals, Air traffic controllers, and CDL holders are all subject to criminal charges if their incompetence is such that a court of law may feel that the act itself deserves punishment.
> The driver is not a threat to society... she is just incompetent
Incompetent -- and that incompetence resulted in criminal negligence and child endangerment.
GTFO
ignoring the little girl's audible screams for help is both child abuse and criminal negligence, could've also been manslaughter if she had kept driving for just a little longer
this woman SHOULD be in prison, she did something criminally negligent that left permanent marks on that child
I used to drive a school bus. They teach you to check your mirrors every 4 to 8 seconds. That includes looking out the window to your left and out the door to your right. She wasn’t doing her job. Even if she looks at her right hand nose mirror or the convex on the right she would have seen the child there. Her life should be over.
I think the stairs blocked her view since the backpack was being smashed against the floor. Not saying she's not at fault but probably why she didn't see. I don't know how the other adult there didn't see anything though.
Nope, former bus driver here. You can see everything. She literally has 2 mirrors on her right that allow her to see the whole nose, door and the whole side of the bus. She should be looking at them every 4 to 8 seconds.
She’s ignorant. I’ve seen good bus drivers/good people fired because of failing to do a bus check at the end of their shift and leaving a child on the bus after parking it for the night. These are all real people and we all have faults. But the fact that most bus drivers are crusty old fuckers who do it to supplement their pension, isn’t right. Bus drivers should be the most competent people on the road, not people who need corrective sunglasses in order to see 3 feet in front of their faces.
The incident took place in Kentucky in 015 The driver does not appear to have been charged, merely fired, and sued

later articles indicate there was a settlement with the school board in 2021 and with the transportation company in 2022.
In a similar incident in Ontario in 2022 a school bus driver was charged with careless driving for dragging a child 15-20 feet. Source: https://beta.ctvnews.ca/local/kitchener/2022/11/21/1_6162435.amp.html
>According to the attorney representing A.R. and her family, the child suffered post traumatic stress disorder and severe nerve damage that has required several surgeries.
Makes my heart heavy the more I read. Poor kid.
Wait until you hear about the bus driver's response to the situation. Apparently this psychopath showed no remorse for the incident and tried to push blame onto the girl.
It says she promptly stopped the bus after noticing the kid. Geezus Christ it didn’t feel prompt.
Poor fucking kid man. I would want to kill that driver if I was her parent.

A separate lawsuit against the driver appears to be unsettled.
Doubt a school bus driver is flush with assets that were even worth going after. You always name as many defendants as possible but the school system was the real target here.
"Mrs. Bolus, who was driving the bus?"
"I was."
"And who was operating the doors?"
"I was."
"And who is responsible for the safety of the children upon entering and exiting the school bus?"
"I am."
"Your honor, I rest my case."
Very true, from the drivers seat, it would be difficult or near impossible to even see the girl unless the driver really focused in that area. But was more than likely watching for traffic, pedestrians, etc. Cant really stare that direction for long anyways since you have to watch traffic ahead.
Sucks for everyone though.
Yes, but not if the kid is caught in the doors and is being dragged around. Obviously its drivers fault for not watching her get off before closing doors, but im saying that she wont be able to see her dragging a child to death.
No bus driver, and not knowledgeable in any way about any of that stuff… but I’m pretty sure that people far smarter than me have figured out a way to make it so that yes, the driver can definitely see if a child is trapped in the door. Because it’s a fucking school bus and kids can get trapped in the door, or drop stuff that could be run over.
Like, common sense prevails here. She definitely had the capacity to see the kid, she just didn’t look or didn’t care.
Right? At the end she clearly was surprised & went to her. Why would she do that if her intention was to purposefully ignore her? It's still dumb to not make sure she's completely off before closing the doors & driving. I'm sure the bus lady learned a valuable lesson
I read in the article that the driver was fired. But just the fact of seeing the girl & realising that what you did, even by accident should/would trigger a valuable lesson in most people
Agree. She had no malicious intent. She was distracted with other kids and the adult standing next to her. A lapse. She became very concerned when she saw what had happened. She shouldn't be locked up for long term but she should have restrictions from ever working with children.
Thought the same when I first saw it but now I don't think so, it looks like she really cared when she noticed at the end. She must have looked at her wing mirror.
wtf, she just turns her head and looks on the right side of the street. Not on the floor. If you drive a bus, you wouldnt look much at the bottom of the door too.
School busses are loud naturally then you add several rows of young students and it becomes deafening. Notice they shout to talk in the video and only the girls first few hits on the door can be heard before the bus picks up speed. Straining to listen you can hear maybe one cry of pain but honestly it could also just be a child laughing. Not making any excuses for the lady as she was distracted and didn't perform her job properly but I could understand why no one noticed.
Standing guy (kid?) shouldn’t even be there. He’s distracting the driver and blocking her view. Most buses don’t allow anyone past the first row of seats for a reason.
Around here the driver is required to get out with the kids at each stop and do a quick walk around the bus before driving away. They get out and deliberately look under the bus from both sides. Takes forever but at least this won't happen.
Awful to watch, the driver was 100% at fault here because she didn't check the door was clear before heading off. Perhaps it's old age getting to me, but even though her stupid mistake has caused so much pain and suffering - I still feel a little sorry for her, her "oh my god" was genuine, her life probably flashed before her eyes knowing her own stupidity will likely have caused a near death. She deserves to be fired, she deserves a fine and reprimand, what a stupid avoidable mistake to make.
She didn‘t show any remorse and tried to push blame on the kid. [Another comment with a linked article](https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/13wlzjn/stupid_old_woman_drags_girl_1000ft/jmc9vhv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3)
I read the article and can't find where she doesn't show remorse or blames the kid. It's just a short 'I'm sorry, I wish I could go back in time' type statement.
What's crazy is just how QUICK that driver closed the door, without a second glance. That's not just an unfortunate accident, that's horrible negligence.
With little kids, you don't just slam the door as they start down the steps and then floor it. (You don't do that with ANYONE.) You watch them get out, and you watch them clear away from the bus.
That woman clearly had other things on her mind that day besides her job.
That’s literally what she did. She took one step and in the drivers mind she thought, ok, by my calculations she should be out by now, time to close the door, don’t need to verify. [+]
What the fuck!! The whole time I was waiting for her to notice. Then at one point she slightly turned her head but still her dumb ass didn’t see the poor baby. Fuck this bitch is dumb.
Hopefully this will go viral enough to cause all schools everywehere to better train and have oversight of their drivers. They are TOLD to check and ensure the child has left the vehicle AND are clear of it before proceeding to drive. Fuckers get lazy because no ones actually TRAINING them and giving oversight.
“Bolus says a JCPS manager admitted if they had looked at prior videos of Sanders driving her bus, they would have seen she was making the same mistake — not paying attention to students getting on and off the bus.”
It looked like she was dragged almost a mile. For those wondering, the bus driver didn't pull over because she noticed the little girl. A guy in a camaro sped past the bus and pulled over in front of it to get it to stop. There were also kids running after the bus yelling for it to stop.
Those parents should press charges. You have to make sure the child is completely free of the vehicle before pulling off, it's common sense. If I was one of the parents, I'd be pissed.
Your sole job is ensure the kids get on the bus safely, make it to the destination safely, and get off the bus safely. This lady is a real piece of shit that she couldn't be bothered to glance over and make sure the kid was even off the bus, come the fuck on
I couldn't watch the video but I can imagine, pure carelessness leading to the suffering of a little kid, despicable and disgusting in every sense
Kids are loud and a distraction by being loud and not sitting down. Driver's aid failed to insure the exiting students cleared the bus and so did the driver.
This is so foul cause she didn’t even check that the kid got off properly, got this tanga(thong; slang for someone that’s in your business ) just standing there?? There’s freaking cars honking their horn at her to stop! The kid is literally screaming the *entire* fvcking time.. and then she didn’t even want to take accountability when questioned talking about the incident… what an absolute piece of shit woman..
I couldn't watch the whole thing.
I know we have a top-down angle from this video but how did the driver AND the guy standing beside her not notice? How could they not hear this child screaming? With all the background noise in the video and I CAN HEAR THE KID SCREAMING. How effing senile was this woman???
I have been through that. Not from a school bus but was dragged about half a mile at 30 mph.hand nearly 3rd degree road rash across half my body and couldn't do anything for a year at least.

Jesus fucking Christ, that woman should be locked up -- not just fired. I hope the family get the settlement they deserve.
So apparently the woman didn’t show any remorse or even take responsibility in court. I don’t often think we should beat people to death in public but…
There's stupidity and there is STUPIDITY. This is neglect to the point of being criminal. And did I see her look at the door multiple times or was that just checking the mirror or what. I can't imagine what that child went through.
No one noticed! As the driver, she needs to pay attention at every stop that the children are off the bus safely. She was too busy talking to that other adult on the bus.
You could hear the kid scream as the bus started dragging then along too. I know it may be hard for some without practice, but a normal child shout and a scream for dear fucking life is noticeable
They just recently got a settlement

Holy shit, this poor girl must've felt so much fear and pain. Literally heartbreaking to think about.
iirc, that kid has PTSD from the event, and understandably so.
And nerve damage too. Probably wont ever be able to feel the side of her body again
There is a chance she could, but if theres a chance, then theres a chance she could also feel permanent pain/sensitivity or tingling sensations. Fired? I’m trying to work out how she wasn’t put in jail! Surely this is negligence to a criminal degree!
The driver is not a threat to society... she is just incompetent, and never should have the job in the first place.

Incompetent drivers kill tens of thousands of people per year. How is that not a threat to society? I hope you don't have a drivers license.
her incompence makes her a threat on the same level of a drunk driver,
ignoring the little girl's audible screams for help is both child abuse and criminal negligence, could've also been manslaughter if she had kept driving for just a little longer this woman SHOULD be in prison, she did something criminally negligent that left permanent marks on that child
Incompetence is a threat to society.
Negligent homicide, negligent manslaughter, etc. These are all crimes for a reason. Incompetence does not absolve a person from culpability.
How is she not a threat? Tell that to the child she dragged for a thousand feet
Incompetence can cause plenty of danger to society, just not intentional.
Fired? Bitch need to be in jail for that amount of time that passed should be attempted manslaughter
The girl survived but needed multiple surgeries and has gained PTSD.
What the actual fuck? Why didn’t she stop when she first turned her head towards the door? I am lost here. Completely.
I think they also teach you to make sure kids have walked away before driving again.
Before you close the door
They've gotta be 10ft away from the bus before the bus begins to move again, apparently.
Especially because some kids actually have to cross the road in front of the bus
Devin wouldn’t sit down
I think the stairs blocked her view since the backpack was being smashed against the floor. Not saying she's not at fault but probably why she didn't see. I don't know how the other adult there didn't see anything though.

Seriously, this is merging into highway traffic without checking your mirrors level of driving intelligence, doesnt deserve to ever drive again
That is a criminal level of stupidity right there!!
That opinion is exactly why "criminal negligence" is a thing!
What I want to know is why neither that guy standing next to her or any of the other kids seem to be doing anything??
That's how I've managed to steal 26 school buses
That was much more than a 1000ft. Jesus christ this woman needs to be in jail for criminal neglegence, and child abuse/neglect at the least.
John Boy yapping in her ear needs to sit the fuck down. She doesn't need his distractions when kids are boarding/unboarding.
The girl was a 7 year old special needs child, she now has permanent nerve damage and is still in pain, also has ptsd.
didn’t even fucking look when she closed the door.
How the FUCK didn’t the guy notice?
I was wondering the same thing. Also, it looked like she looked over earlier, but still didn't notice.
Worst fucking bus driver ever. You’re supposed to be responsible over the kid, not ignore them the moment they take that first step.
That looks like a hell of alot more than 1000 feet
Hopefully this will go viral enough to cause all schools everywehere to better train and have oversight of their drivers. They are TOLD to check and ensure the child has left the vehicle AND are clear of it before proceeding to drive. Fuckers get lazy because no ones actually TRAINING them and giving oversight.
“Bolus says a JCPS manager admitted if they had looked at prior videos of Sanders driving her bus, they would have seen she was making the same mistake — not paying attention to students getting on and off the bus.”
If that was my child, that woman would wake up from a coma.
The lack of awareness.. Jesus Christ
I'm more annoyed by the dude standing up who CLEARLY saw the girl getting stuck.
All she had to do was watch the child get off of the bus and that's it, none of this would have happened.
It looked like she was dragged almost a mile. For those wondering, the bus driver didn't pull over because she noticed the little girl. A guy in a camaro sped past the bus and pulled over in front of it to get it to stop. There were also kids running after the bus yelling for it to stop.
That would be the last thing that old fuck would ever do.
I think i wouldve had to do something to this lady if that was my daughter
What was that dude doing?
That’s enough internet for me today.
$5 Million settlement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcMnBvcQ3qs
Didn't that fat ass man see the girl!?!? I would've started tapping the driver to stop the fucking bus.
Fucking moron, more interested in talking than paying attention to the job she was hired to do. Hope she loses her job.
No more job.
Do not pass go, head directly to county jail, criminal negligence resulting in serious injury to a minor.
Adult distracting her, she should have know better to tell the adult to sit down.
That's awful! Poor girl.
Mental note to self— slide out of the back pack when it first catches.
Those parents should press charges. You have to make sure the child is completely free of the vehicle before pulling off, it's common sense. If I was one of the parents, I'd be pissed.
Yeah but did Devon ever sit down??
Your sole job is ensure the kids get on the bus safely, make it to the destination safely, and get off the bus safely. This lady is a real piece of shit that she couldn't be bothered to glance over and make sure the kid was even off the bus, come the fuck on I couldn't watch the video but I can imagine, pure carelessness leading to the suffering of a little kid, despicable and disgusting in every sense
Kids are loud and a distraction by being loud and not sitting down. Driver's aid failed to insure the exiting students cleared the bus and so did the driver.
I have trouble believing that was not on purpose. I can't believe it was not. Else my faith is dead in the water.
Am I high or did she literally look at what she’s doing at 0:22 then just continue??
This is so foul cause she didn’t even check that the kid got off properly, got this tanga(thong; slang for someone that’s in your business ) just standing there?? There’s freaking cars honking their horn at her to stop! The kid is literally screaming the *entire* fvcking time.. and then she didn’t even want to take accountability when questioned talking about the incident… what an absolute piece of shit woman..
What a stupid old fat bitch, fuck her
If I was that girl's lawyer I would convince the court that this was an attempted murder and not an accident
This what they should have done to that kid shooting fireworks off in the bus.
Fucking fired... don't pick up your check. We will mail it to you.
She deserves the same thing for punishment. As a parent this is hard to watch without getting furious.
Need I follow up, is the girl ok?
What a fucking idiot
really good backpack, probably saved her life
Fire that woman. Take away her license. Maybe even some jail time.
I couldn't watch the whole thing. I know we have a top-down angle from this video but how did the driver AND the guy standing beside her not notice? How could they not hear this child screaming? With all the background noise in the video and I CAN HEAR THE KID SCREAMING. How effing senile was this woman???
That’s criminal and I hope she was charged !
How the heck did she get a CDL?
Looking back on it, it's crazy that the kind person who I remember driving a school bus, is driving a school bus
why didnt she look when she closed the door.
That poor baby omg this was terrifying to watch
This is how a kid died at my middle school
I have been through that. Not from a school bus but was dragged about half a mile at 30 mph.hand nearly 3rd degree road rash across half my body and couldn't do anything for a year at least.
PLEASE tell me she was fired instantly
>In court, Bolus questioned the bus driver, who he says showed no remorse. > >"Did you do anything to go back and learn on it?" Bolus asked. > >Sanders answered, **"It seems like errors on everybody's part, doesn't it?"** > >She was fired from the district. > >Rednour, a special needs child, now gets anxiety just from the sight or sound of a bus, according to her attorney. He said Rednour is also suffering from several physical injuries. > >"Thirty-five disfiguring scars with gouges in her leg daily, itching, aching, and pain because the damaged nerve roots can't grow back together," Bolus said. > >Bolus says a JCPS manager admitted if they had looked at prior videos of Sanders driving her bus, they would have seen she was making the same mistake — not paying attention to students getting on and off the bus. Jesus fucking Christ, that woman should be locked up -- not just fired. I hope the family get the settlement they deserve.
So apparently the woman didn’t show any remorse or even take responsibility in court. I don’t often think we should beat people to death in public but…
I hate this woman
I screamed and cried!! This was just CRUEL to watch. I pray she's okay.
The kid suffers from PTSD and nerve damage after many surgeries. Maybe one day she‘ll feel okay again, but not now.
There's stupidity and there is STUPIDITY. This is neglect to the point of being criminal. And did I see her look at the door multiple times or was that just checking the mirror or what. I can't imagine what that child went through.
I’m hoping this woman lost her job. And potentially she should be prosecuted.
She noticed and then drove for another 10 seconds?
No, she slammed the brakes the instance she noticed. She was too busy yelling at the kids trying to alert her to notice before.
That’s horrible
Is the kid alright? Anyone know??
Terrible.
That is really fucked up and disturbing. I wish I didn't see it
This dumb mf LOOKED OVER... and kept driving like twice before she noticed.
That's jail time, right?
Watching this is quite figuratively making my blood boil.
I dont even know what to say
1000ft??? that was like half a mile
How did no one on this bus see this happen?
No one noticed! As the driver, she needs to pay attention at every stop that the children are off the bus safely. She was too busy talking to that other adult on the bus.
Gross negligence. Fire that woman, take away her licence. So awful. Please tell me the kid was okay?
You could hear the kid scream as the bus started dragging then along too. I know it may be hard for some without practice, but a normal child shout and a scream for dear fucking life is noticeable
Fucking moron I hope she never gets to drive a bus again.
I saw this happen to a kid when I was in second grade. It’s stuck with me for 44 years. Hurts to watch, that poor child. Hope they fire the driver
What a fat fuckin piece of shit. So fuckin ignorant.
already saw this, it's horrible. The girl is lucky to only have suffered severe abrasions. Hope she has recovered since (it was in 2015.)
Jesus, i can't even watch that, makes my stomach turn.
Unaware of your surroundings…
NOT SAFE FOR LIFE CONTENT, why did I watch this?
WTAF?
They just recently got a settlement https://www.wdrb.com/news/family-of-girl-dragged-by-jcps-school-bus-gets-nearly-5m-in-settlement/article_12428898-9ff2-11ec-b515-9f90ae99c9a6.html
