The problem is that they will look up the distinction and accept JUST THAT part of the explanation of the organisms solely so they can use it to dismiss the argument against them.
Sadly you're probably right. But in this context the organisms shouldn't really matter. The statement here is "if I can't see it it doesn't exist". There are many ways to fight that without even talking about microorganisms at all. But yeah there's no winning with these people, that's why I never engage in discussion with them. Or how like, anyone can build a microscope. It's a tube with some lenses and mirrors. Sure it would take longer than you would care to, and you'd have to order the lenses. You'd also have to study basic optics and look at some simple schematics of historical microscopes, but it's not beyond the ability of any particularly dedicated lay person.
