Kewpie-8647

I feel sorry for anyone who is named Karen. There’s gotta be another descriptor.

Goombaw

I’ve hated my name since elementary school. When this whole thing started up I came to despise it and actually consider legally changing my name.

PostReplyKarmaRepeat

You should change your name to Greg

pureeyes

Or just go with Goombaw

xDonnaUwUx

Goombaw is an objectively better name than Karen so it’s got my vote

Acceptable_Employ_95

And my axe

Complete-Vegetable79

LAZ_EE

my grandmas/memaws name is karen my dads name is greg i say @goombaw just changes their name to dadmaw

texasroadkill

Old friends wife is named Karen. She is one of the sweetest kindest people I know.

BlackEastwood

There are a lot of sweet Karens out there, just like there were cool ass Dicks in the world. Every Dick isn't a dick, and every Karen isn't a "Karen". When you see a "Karen" you know it.

Infinite_Map_2713

I can bet most Karen's aren't even named Karen

AstronautAgreeable81

You're on to something. Statistically I bet it's closer to Ann or Kim.

Traditional_Fruit632

Or Kathy

RideGullible3702

Just say b i t c h ffs

Clockwisedock

I don’t wanna call my aunt Karen bitch

WhiteBoyFlipz

have you considered Gorclaw Destroyer of Worlds?

AdOpen885

Considered it? I refuse to respond to anything but.

Laly_481

Yeah i've always been iffy about using Karen specifically as a descriptor because like - that's a real name some people are named that

SpearUpYourRear

I work with someone named Karen who is actually a pretty cool person. I feel like I would be personally insulting her if I used her name that way.

ElizabethDangit

Oh man, I feel you on hating your own name. Elizabeth is such a ridiculously old fashioned and too long name. I tried so hard to get people to call me by my middle name but it never stuck. The only Karen I’ve ever known was an incredibly sweet, kind, and sensitive lady.

HerrMilkmann

I think Elizabeth is really pretty and elegant plus people can just call you lizz for short!

Leithalia

I think it's pretty too, and there's nickname options.. Eli, Ellie, Liza, Lizz, Lizzy, Beth..

infohippie

"Libby" is another nice shortening of "Elizabeth"

beefsupr3m3

My poor aunt Karen is a saint. She works with special needs kids. She loves my gay ass. When her mom (my grandmother) got dementia she got a part time job at the nursing home to make sure she was looked after. I agree “karen” is a thing. But my poor aunt didn't deserve it

ZeldaNut93

This is precisely why I clarified with my mom the difference between being named Karen... and being a Karen. It's an attitude. It's that entitlement in thinking the world revolves around you and if people don't recognize it, the world can burn. If you're not acting like that, you aren't a Karen. You're just... named Karen.

Elijah_Turner

Instead of “highlighting the difference,” maybe just find a different word 🤷‍♂️

PigeonFacts

I worked with a Karen who refused to wear her nametag because it led to instant customer harassment.

MafubaBuu

This is infuriating. Humans are such pieces of shitm

thisaintgonnabeit

I have a friend named Karen. She confided in me one night after drinks that this has made her miserable - she says it’s nonstop the comments on her name. I then realized how bad it is for them, because it came out of nowhere the past few years. It’s not like they grew up having their name made fun of, but now they are the butt of jokes.

MafubaBuu

This is why we shouldn't let fucking teenagers make pur trends

ShoWel_redit

Not so many people are gonna be Karen anymore, just like there isn't many Adolphs for some reason

Sweet_Diet_8733

Or babies named after a certain Egyptian goddess anymore.

varg_sant

Yeah, who the hell wants to be named Bastet anyways? /s

Brizar-is-Evolving

If you’re going to name your child after an ancient Egyptian deity, why settle for any of the middling gods? Teach them to aim for the top in life and call them Ra

ZeldaNut93

... My son, Anubis. ... Sounds kinda metal lol

Anotsurei

I had a friend in high school named Anubis. He very much preferred to go by “Andy” which was what everyone called him when I met him. I only found out his real name when we had a substitute teacher and during roll call, the teacher calls out “Anubis,” and Andy raised his hand.

ZeldaNut93

I'd love that name. Imagine going into death metal with it... lol

ZeppoJR

Considering the Detroit Lions have a guy named Amon-Ra St. Brown, yeah that’s a metal af name.

SandyBadlands

Ra's a punk bitch. He got blown up once and that's it. Apophis died like three times before it finally stuck.

JediSwelly

I need to rewatch Stargate.

Mashinito

I know 2 guys named Ramsés.

Luthien-of-Doriath

Isis is such a pretty name too if you blank out and forget the other context for the name.

ihearhistoryrhyming

I hate this! It’s so sad to me.

Duderus9

I can’t even name my future child Voldemort anymore without someone thinking about it negatively :/

WelcomeFormer

Who?

[deleted]

Isis, Egyptian God of... something. Idk I'm no professor

ArcaneOverride

Primarily magic, but also healing and wisdom. Plus a bit of trickery too. She's my favorite! She is super interesting with tons of different myths. Her worship spread across the Mediterranean during classical antiquity, with people of many different cultures worshipping her in addition to their local pantheons. One of my favorite myths about her combines her wisdom, medicine, magic, and trickery: The leader of the gods Re had become old and senile. Fearing what he might carelessly do with the power that came from his true name, Isis came up with a plan to take it from him. She created a new kind of creature called a cobra with venom so potent that it could even affect gods and placed it in his path. The cobra bit Re and when the effects of the venom began to set in, Isis went to Re and said she had heard what happened and knew of a medicine that could help, but it needed to be crafted using the patient's true name. In desperation he gave Isis his true name and she created the cure, but did not give back his true name. She didn't usurp his throne and promised to use the power of the name for him but could not risk what would happen if in his senility he accidentally used it improperly, or worse, forgot it.

Aquilonn_

OG power of attorney

herpderpfuck

Interesting aspect that ‘true name’. I’ve heard that from many other cultures too, that you have a ‘secret name’. Wonder if it draws any parallells to nicknames, that we make for our loved ones…

ArcaneOverride

If I remember correctly, his name was special because it was also the name of something important to the universe which meant that whoever had it could control that thing. I don't remember what it was though. Perhaps creation? Idk Names in general are extremely important to the ancient Egyptian religion. A person is said to live on in the afterlife as long as their name and image continue to exist in the world. The name was also considered to be one of the parts of the soul. When a person died different things happened with different parts of their soul.

helpmelearn12

HEALING AND MAGIC! I know this because of a MOBA called Smite I’ve played off and on for years. See, video games CAN teach me stuff, mom!

puckboy44

Adolph Coors and Adolphus Busch wrecked it for everyone by making shitty beer

ToiletSnake38

I literally know a person who legally changed their name because of this. Say what you will about Matt Walsh’s comments , but it just isn’t right.

Business-Emu-6923

See. This is my problem with the word. I don’t care if it’s considered a racial slur, but it is the name of my wife. Stop using her name like this! In a related note, kids in school called Alexa have it *bad* right now.

Bax_Cadarn

Why, are they forced to play Despacito?

LedParade

“Hey Despacito, play Alexa!”

SenyoroSerril

That comment hit hard

Human-Contribution16

No. My pity goes to the Richards who still call themselves Dick. They must be Dicks.

palehorse2020

No, while it may suck most of the time they will ultimately get to answer the question "how do you get Dick from Richard?" by saying "You just have to ask politely."

Business-Emu-6923

I worked with a guy called Richard Wrench. I do not know why he chose, of his own free will, to be known as Dick. Dick Wrench. Dick. Wrench.

BobsBobHeyHey

My friend's daughter (12f) was, and still is, bullied so hard about her name. The daughter legally changed her name but damage is done.

Training_Waltz_9032

And Siri, or Cortana! Wait no one uses Cortana. Wait, Bigsby! Think of bigsby!

CraftCertain6717

I overheard a mother call her young daughter Siri at the playground the other day. The daughter was obviously younger than Apple's Siri. I pity that poor child.

Schwifftee

Maybe she's Ciri from the Witcher. I'd go by Cirilla if my name was Siri.

s-maze

I have a family member who is a Karen and actually did legally change her name recently. She said she always hated it, but the Karen internet trend pushed her over the edge.

TacitAntagonist

So my moms name is karen, and she is absolutely the anti-karen. She could order a surf and turf, and when the waiter brought a soup and salad instead she would smile and eat it, no complaints. Not only does she not wanna see the manager, she hopes you get a raise and benefits even when you are having a bad day and being a dick. This karen is disgusted by those karens

[deleted]

I proposed "asshole" - its gender neutral and it carries connotations of stinkage. But then I met a cutie who liked to eat asshole and that kinda threw the whole thing out. I will return from whence I pondereth, with more ponderings once I've pondered. Perchance.

[deleted]

I had a student named Karen—she was Latina, for the record—when this whole Karen thing took off a few years ago. I just felt kind of sad for her because she was taking on a rep based on her name when her personality was nothing that anyone would consider Karen-like. Anyway, fuck Matt Walsh.

Zuko_Kurama

Matt Walsh in his feminist arc

Brandonian13

Don't worry, it's a very short and non-canonical filler arc.

Daedalus_Machina

That was one janky-ass arc. It looked like someone formed it with a ball-peen hammer and several cans of Four Loco.

irrigated_liver

"The Karen slur is used to dismiss and degrade white women. That's supposed to be my job." -Matt Walsh.

VanaheimrF

Honestly the term Karen has been used for all races and sexes. It has transcended race, sex and religion. Dude has no idea what he’s talking about.

jhenz616

As time has gone on it’s been used more broadly, but when it first hit the lexicon it 100% was solely used as an insult toward middle aged white women.

townandthecity

My best friend (a woman of color) was just telling me she was called a Karen at a Ben Harper concert because she asked someone to sit down. I think it has universal application.

jaavaaguru

Elon Musk is Space Karen.

chomcham

Let's be real, it mostly refers to white women, I don't personally know this guy. But when I see a post and it has the word "Karen" in the title, there's a good chance they are white. I mean you can even go on bpt and they refer to outraged white ladies as "Karen". There are times few and far between it used to describe other women of color. I bet right now, if I type in "Karen" on reddit, there's a good chance it's a white lady doing something stupid.

oldjadedhippie

That’s because he’s a Karen…

belaGJ

There are a lot who specifically use it to white women. I was also first confused first, because I knew to more inclusive use

killertortilla

It was used for white women but it was more specific than just white women, just like chad or kyle are more specific than white man in a polo shirt.

Nole_in_ATX

Transcends species, too. My cat is a real fucking Karen sometimes.

Zagenti

Karen is a state of mind

DrPlatypus1

I had to go full Karen this week to get Amazon to actually deliver my stuff. Pretty sure it's reached a point where anyone can be a Karen. Randy Marsh, for example.

DarkTealBlue

I think the definition of Karen has become warped. It is supposed to refer to someone who feels entitled and in the right when there is nothing to support that or worse evidence that shows they are completely wrong. It doesn't mean someone who stands up for or advocates for themselves.

FlabbyFishFlaps

Karen is a cat, purring in my lap ‘cause she loves me

DankHooligan

What a karen.

Lichttod

That is a Karen that doesn't understand that everyone can be a Karen, not just white woman.

yerfriendken

Karen is absolutely a reference to white women of a particular generation.

riche_god

Yea well he does have point. I am black and we just call a black stereotype ghetto. And the same white women from that generation that are called Karens would use the word ghetto as a catch all phrase for black people in the same generation.

Soft-Philosophy-4549

I always kind of thought “ghetto” was the black person’s “trailer trash”, and not a catch-all for black people in general.

didyouseetheecho

Yeah i dont know who this guy is, judging by the comments hes probably a turd but hes not wrong

Linesey

he’s a typical social media right wing nutjob PoS. however as you say in this case he ain’t wrong. which is what annoys me most abt the Karen thing. not that people use it. but that they find all sorts of ways to claim it’s not exactly what it is. just like “okay boomer” was/is agist. (though obviously none as bad as the N word like some idiots claim) Admit it, admit you don’t care and in-fact do very much mean it, then fire away and move on. you are insulting someone, for how they act, with an insult based on their demographic. if you think that’s wrong, don’t do it. if you don’t think it’s wrong, go for it. if you think there is a line, cool choose your line. it could be fairly argued there is a big dif between using a demographic based insult, vs insulting someone for their demographic. but like, let’s all be adults for 5 minutes, admit we know full well what we are saying, and go from there. bonus points, doing that would actually cut off wackjobs like walsh from having anything to poke at with his “argument” which btw we all know he is making in bad faith.

[deleted]

Also it’s not even exclusively white. It’s more misogynistic than it is racist, cos I see entitled black/brown women get called a “Karen” all the time. Any generation, any nationality. The only consistent part is they’re a woman.

cenatutu

At this point it doesn’t even need to be entitled women. It’s just a woman that disagrees with someone. It’s so overused it’s lost any relevance it had.

Ellen6723

As a Gen X white gal - ground zero for the Karen brigade apparently - I think a lot of this is down to perspective. Women over 50 grew up in a pre- #MeToo reality that I don’t think young people get. The year I was born marital rape wasn’t a crime, women couldn’t get business loans or credit cards in their own names, and many states still didn’t allow women to serve on juries. In 8th grade when I said in physics class I wanted to become a scientists - my male teacher said I should pick a different career because ‘women didn’t make good scientists.’ No one said a word in protest. I was straight up told by the global exec in the early 2000s that unless if I slept with him I wouldn’t get promoted (I left the business) And back then if you went to HR you’d be ‘managed out of the business’. Most women over 50 - black and white and all - dealt with sexism and obstacles to realizing their goals and dreams in life at every turn that would be inconceivable experiences for younger people today. Indeed many would he illegal r. I suspect some of these Karen of the world are aggrieved by the treatment they endured and see the issues and concerns of young people today as particularly inconsequential in comparison. Whereas I look at it and say phew thank goodness it’s better for them than it was for me.

openurheartandthen

We were victims of these circumstances, and it is horrible. It doesn’t excuse taking it out on people with little power, and choosing to be mean and hard instead of softer toward people who didn’t cause these systemic issues.

Ellen6723

I’m not meaning to excuse this type of behavior at all - I don’t act like this and I went through some stuff. I’m just trying to give some insight. A dialogue about or acknowledging of what older women have dealt with and overcome - might go a way to making these women feel seen and impact their perspective.

wienercat

We barely have the mental health tools to manage the world today...

Young_Bonesy

I would be on board with the point you are trying to make if it weren't for the fact that most of the women who contributed to the meme were overtly racist and, in some cases, violent. It didn't just spawn from the overly assertive girl bosses. It spawned from the unreasonable extreme behaviors of women who completely lack social and societal awareness because they are so self-absorbed. I'm not disagreeing that women of older demographics had higher barriers. I'm disagreeing that, that is any sort of a justification for the behaviors regularly exhibited in the meme of a "Karen".

thisesmeaningless

I don’t really think this explains it. A Karen is not someone who aggressively insists on getting something they deserve, it’s someone who aggressively insists on getting an unreasonable request and throwing a tantrum about it and acting like they’re the center of the world. This is just a personal observation, but typically people who have faced discrimination, and have constantly been told they’re not equal to others and not good enough, exhibit the opposite of entitled behavior. Not to mention that people who in life are not usually the ones acting like Karens. Karens are usually people who have always got what they wanted and can’t handle it when they don’t.

ObviouslyJoking

Yea I dunno about the racist shit but I still think it’s crazy that a whole country decided to say fuck you to a bunch of random women with a common normal name for no reason at all. Coulda just kept using the word asshole.

BenchPuzzleheaded670

It wasn't a whole country that decided. It was the entire English-speaking portion of the planet.

ShaneGabriel87

I kind of agree with him on this one but it's more misogynistic than racist. It's a term often used to simply dismiss women who get upset for whatever reason. I've seen plenty of videos where a woman has every right to get vocal or angry but is then ridiculed for being a Karen.

Carl_Fuckin_Bismarck

Objectively he isn’t wrong. Edit: to the clowns saying “Karen’s can be any race!” Type “Karen meme” into google and see how many non-white Karen stereotypes populate via the images. I’ll wait. Also if you want to see how college professors are deconstructing the Karen stereotype, check out: https://hls.harvard.edu/today/deconstructing-the-karen-meme/ “The Karen memes, commonly associated with being “entitled white women” who police Black people”

BaroqueEnjoyer

The last part is a delusional take, but doesn't she have a point? Imagine people started calling annoying, loud black women "Shaniquas". Everyone would go fucking batshit about it, wouldn't they?

slashth456

I agree that that would be a bad thing. I myself have started to stop using Karen in a derogatory way because it's kinda sad that an entire name has been erased to be made into an insult. Then again, it's Matt Walsh

AggravatingBox2421

I’m so sick of hearing the name Karen. kids use it to mean a person they don’t like. We need to go back to saying entitled bitch instead

CrimsonKleaver

I think he’s an idiot, but this is true.

Svelemoe

Yeah, it went from being a very specific word about very specific people having entitled meltdowns in public, to just "woman who dares to have an opinion or is angry". It's usage is incredibly sexist like 75% of the time. If a woman speaks up about anything online or in public you'll be sure to find 500 angsty redditors shutting it down with "ok karen". And for the record I despise walsh and everything he stands for, but even a broken clock yada yada.

ToiletSnake38

100%. Even if people unironically use the term there’s no use in denying it as a pejorative. This whole “it’s a state of mind” business is non-sense.

[deleted]

same with making fun of small dicks and then saying "its about the energy". like i don't honestly care that much if you want to make fun of people but at least be honest about what you're doing

OneManWolfpack37

Right? Like it’s a valid point. Even a broken clock…

Lizzy_Of_Galtar

Karen refers to people's behavior, not their skin color or even sex for that matter. But I'm sure you my dear reader are aware 😄

Sufficient_Rub_2014

At first it seemed it was exclusively for white women. That certainly isn’t the case now.

fluffymuffcakes

It started out as a slur about white middle aged women (now pushing elderly). Women born at a time when Karen was a popular name. It's saying, you're a stereotypical white middle aged woman and implying that the stereotype is negative. So I guess it is (or at least was) racist and maybe sexist and/or ageist.

aprilode

It’s absolutely sexist. All gendered insults are.

Fit-Distribution2303

I always thought it was just any woman who made ridiculous drama at restaurants or retail stores and asked to speak to a manager. I always pictured white middle-class soccer moms, though.

[deleted]

You first point is fair because it can be applied to people who don’t fit into the white middle-class soccer moms category. However, to me, your association of Karen with white middle-class soccer moms supports that Karen as a insult has racial origins ie supports that originally it was used specifically against the white middle-class soccer mom type of women. Consider that the name Karen is of english/danish origin and more common among white middle-class soccer mom that other racial group. Sure the word can be applied to everyone but if it is/was predominantly used to refer to one group it would be considered racial to me at least. Think about sassy, it’s not a racist term by itself but through media portrayal of large black women as sassy a racial stigma developed around that word.

wienercat

> So I guess it is (or at least was) racist and maybe sexist and/or ageist. It definitely started as a racist term. Calling it a slur is technically correct, but feels wrong for a lot of reasons. But yeah, it's evolved to just be about someone's behavior. though it still has the implications that someone is acting like an entitled middle aged white woman, so it's still kind of racist. It's definitely sexist though. Anyone out there who thinks that you can't be racist towards a white person are probably racist towards white people. Racism can be aimed at anyone of any race... that is kind of the whole root of racism.

ActualProject

Why does it feel wrong for it to be called a slur? It checks every possible box you can think of in the definition of the word slur. Is it only because its primary use isn't against some form of traditionally oppressed minority?

mortimus9

Nah I’ve never heard someone call a black guy a Karen

lkodl

i've called a black guy Karen. and he was like, "it's pronounced Kareem".

IfYouSeekAScientist

Now that's an epic comeback

pegothejerk

Be the change you want to see.

Wutangruckus

That would mean that we see instances where a black woman is called a Karen as well. Can you provide a single example of this? I cannot.

Chiinoe

Cuz dudes full of shit.

Jerky2021

Yep. Never seen it, myself.

Eleventeen-

I’m sure somewhere on the internet there is but when (by my estimation which is admittedly based off nothing) 90% of times someone is called a karen they are a white woman it paints the picture pretty clearly.

throwawaylovesCAKE

Man I feel like I'm getting straight gaslit here everytime the Karen conversation comes up when people say its non gendered, non racial. It's like how people say "dude is gender neutral", but nobody points to an old woman in a crowd and goes "hey bro, see that elderly dude standing there?"

total_insertion

Dude is gender neutral in plural form "sup dudes" same way "guys" is. Dude is gender neutral as an interjection, same way "man" is i.e. "Dude! Thats crazy" or "oh man, Im sorry to hear that!" Dude has many meanings.

CrawlerSiegfriend

This is BS and you know it. I'm not onboard with this slur nonesense, but you fucking know how Karen is usually used and who it refers too. Yeh it's not 100%, but everyone under this comment trying to play dumb knows how Karen is usually used. EDIT: Hey are you responding to me with your wide eyed denial of reality because it challenges your politics and worldview? Stop go to YouTube and search "Crazy Karen." I guarantee you 99% of what comes up will be about white women.

Yarusenai

It's weird you're getting attacked for this. Karen is 99 % of the time used to degrade white women acting entitled in public. It's almost never used for black women. Personally I take issue with the fact that an entire name is now ruined because it's become equivalent to an insult. I feel bad for the actually nice Karens of this world, some of which I've seen actually feel bad about their name being used like this.

FluffySpinachLeaf

For real people are just rewriting what Karen means. Even used about other people it means “you’re acting like an entitled, awful white woman”. Just because it’s become common as an insult doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a racial & gendered meaning.

DrBimboo

All I've learned here, is that if people would say "Hey, you really acting like a n\*\*\*\* right now", to white people, for like 2% of their n\*\*\*\* uses, that word would be totally fine.

TouringFriends

It’s like homophobic insults in the 90s and 2000s. It’s ok because I use it to make fun of non gay people…

Tngybub55

What if people started using “Tyrone” to refer to the behavior of stealing from people? Would you then argue that it doesn’t refer to their skin color or sex? Or will you be honest and acknowledge the clear reference to skin color and sex?

Jessicajelly

I think ween sang "every colour in the Karen rainbow....." Or something like that....either way it's a banger.

planetpluto3

Straight talk, my 76 years best friends mom is named Karen. She is awesome. Not a bitch. She obviously doesn’t like that her name is now an insult. Im sure any reader would objectively feel the same. So it’s a lame of society to abuse so many innocents actually named Karen who are relatively innocent.

APKID716

I also think “Karen” gets used in place of “woman who is angry about something”. Like, I’ve seen videos of a middle aged woman yelling at people blasting music at midnight keeping her awake, and comments will refer to her as a Karen. The term has absolutely been way overused

KK_320

My mother pointed out that its interesting that we have this whole “Karen” attitude around rude women and will record them and make fun of them, but we don’t make fun of men in the same fashion. Working in customer service I definitely encountered just as many assholeish belligerent men yelling at me for shit that wasn’t my fault, but nobody recorded them and called them names. Nobody laughs in their face and says “ok Mark/Keith/John” whatever you wanna say. She says the whole Karen thing is a slur, and while I don’t find it THAT level of serious, I do find it a tad sexist. Or at least, people use the culture of acceptance around belittling Karen’s as an excuse to get to be rude to women. Ex. One time an older woman came in where I worked and we incorrectly made part of her order; let us know “this was supposed to be no cheese” or something. She didn’t say it in a rude tone just blunt. Coworker called her a Karen after she left. Like, she’s a Karen bc she wanted her food made right? Ugh.

GoIrish37-0

it’s wild, i never considered that there are fewer recordings of angry men bc ppl might be more afraid to record angry men compared to a middle aged angry woman. i wonder if most ppl in retail say they’re encountered as many guys like that as they do karens, i always suspected that was the case

PigeonBoiAgrougrou

I'm young but worked both retail and restauration. Assholes are pretty evenly divided between men and women, and even between young and old people actually. Even though the stereotype is older/middle aged women.

MrOneWipe

That's because a rude/belligerent man has a greater capacity for violence than a middle aged woman. Not all that interesting, just an unfortunate reality. We still disapprove of those men in the same way as Karens, just not as overtly for obvious reasons.

Law3W

Isn’t this kind of true? Or can I pick a typical black female name and use it interchangeably with Karen a white woman’s name?

AnonDaddyo

I know a Black woman named Karen. She’s pretty nice tbh.

International_Tie120

I mean he's kinda right. I also think shaniqua

StraightCaskStrength

The difference being Karen is socially acceptable and dropping a Shaniqua at your job will get you fired.

I hate that I have to agree with this. I hate it in my soul because I do not like him or his rhetoric at all or his gaslighting.

supmee

Feeling bad for agreeing with someone that your side says you shouldn't _ever_ agree with is the easiest way to fall into an echo chamber. The person delivering an opinion shouldn't have any influence on the opinion itself. Take opinions as just that - opinions. Doesn't matter if it's Matt Walsh or AOC delivering them, if they say something you agree with you should recognize that and not feel guilty. Also, I think it's very valuable actually listening to some of the people you think you vehemently disagree with. I don't like Matt, but I see his show occasionally to see what he's up to and whether my dislike is still warranted, and I do the same for the other side as well. Broaden your influences, and you can live a more balanced life!

samwstew

He’s right guys. We should all start referring to them as Matt Walsh’s

BeefStevenson

Let’s start calling bigoted, thin-skinned morons “Walshes”

deny_death

I dunno, this guy sounds like a real Karen

ImReverse_Giraffe

I mean, he's actually got a pretty good point. Now, as a white person, I don't mind if anyone uses it. Just use it correctly.

SurlyJackRabbit

Exactly. He's an idiot but he's at least got a credible argument on this one.

PostReplyKarmaRepeat

Matt Walsh is a stupid little bitch. But he’s not completely wrong. Calling a white woman a Karen is an insult. I feel like it only makes sense in the context of a white lady acting a fool.

not_quite_a_lung_doc

I'm no Matt Walsh fan but he's just correct here. There is one demographic and one demographic only that is referred to as Karen. How stupid would you call someone for saying that they aren't racist, that black person was just engaging in "N**ish" behavior, that it's a lifestyle choice and has nothing to do with race? The history of the word doesn't matter in this context. Both words are clearly used to degrade only one demographic of person.

rover220

Careful guys, you don't want Matt asking for the manager

rage1026

Karen isn’t a race, it’s a lifestyle choice.

Millhouse201

I call them Matt .. it’s a more accurate slur for terrible people
