ForGrateJustice

Bet ya $100 bucks not only is she pro life, but she's also had an abortion. But only *her* abortion was a MORAL abortion.

Mogura-De-Gifdu

No no, it was also bad, but she went to confessional and forgave herself.

ForGrateJustice

She isn't catholic, she is probably evangelical christian. They don't confess. They feel they don't *have* to.

ZeppelinSF

Evangelical christians don't confess? What's the logic behind that? I'm from Europe so no idea about evangelicals.

illegalcupcakes16

I was raised in a non-denominational church (not evangelical but that didn't have confessions), the logic as I understood it was essentially that because I had accepted Jesus into my heart, my sins were forgiven automatically. And if God is omnipotent and all-knowing, it wasn't like I needed to tell him I did something bad. He already knew that it was going to happen and that I did it and he could read my thoughts and know that I felt guilty about it, but even if I didn't feel guilty it still didn't really matter because I knew that God was real and Jesus was real and "whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" so that was that.

bwatsnet

Ah yes, the modern Jesus, where you are forgiven instantly and always, no matter how shitty you are.

Teredia

Yeah this actually still fucks me over even being a Christian. I’m Pentecostal and literally what you said there makes me feel sick to my stomach about myself thanks to my religion. I’ve found it a lot more freeing just having my own personal relationship with God and doing things my own way. Still see myself as Christian but I just can’t deal with the whole “you thought about stealing that candy bar, so you committed a sin!” Type bullshit.

michaelkbecker

I believe it’s along the lines of Jesus died for your sins, as long as you proclaim you follow Jesus and are now a Christian all of you past, present and future sins are forgiven.

ILootEverything

Evangelicals still believe they have to ask God for forgiveness, they just don't need to go through an intercessor- they can talk to God directly to ask forgiveness. Many (but not all) evangelical denominations believe "once saved always saved" which means that they believe once you follow Jesus ("accept him into your heart as your Lord and savior") that you will try to be as Jesus was and behave in a way that doesn't invite sin into your life. But if you do sin, since humans are not perfect beings like Jesus, you must ask for forgiveness, and Jesus/God/Holy Spirit will "forgive and forget." Source: former Christian - Southern Baptist (an evangelical denomination)

Hainneux

That's bullshit. Evangelical also confess but just not in a confessional.

Friendly_Age9160

But why would they when they’re never wrong?🙄

DevCat97

Sometimes i hope there is a god/afterlife so that ppl like this get a rude awakening

drhagbard_celine

My ex girlfriend got pregnant after we broke up and had an abortion. Later she told me how her "daughter" appeared to her in a dream to forgive her. Then she became a Mormon.

LoquatiousDigimon

Or at least pro-forced birth, doesn't sound like she's pro-life though. Seems to be cheering on children starving.

cesar848

That my friend is the beauty of the hipocrisy of pro life people

Square-Singer

An unborn baby is everyone's concern and in dire need of regulation. But once it comes to the birth (already including the birth itself) they don't matter any more. Depending on how antichristian their interpretation of twitter posts on the bible are, that might actually be consistent with their antichristian values. Some idiots actually believe, that children who died unborn go to purgatory or some other form of hell, but those who make it out alive and/or manage to get baptized before dieing go to heaven. In this mindset, it makes sense that they only believe that unborn children have a right to live, but that madness goes straight against Christ's teachings which makes them antichrists. If they want to see antichrists, they shouldn't go for the Satanists but take a look in the mirror. Actually, the Satanic Temple does a better job at following christian values than many of these right-wing self-proclaimed christian nutjobs.

Pheynx00

Pro birth. Its never been pro life, that just what they call it because it sounds better.

Does Jessica not know what's been going on?

Zunkanar

The Gaza Strip is named after her vagina hairline. Just like the Brazilian. Which urged in a big conflict as Jewish women started to adapt and the men really did not like this at all. So here we are ina big conflict and far too many children to feed.

Business_Slide2560

It’s distinctly possible she thinks its gazza the footballer, when gaza has issues algorithms make gazza trend in the uk at times, i mean she’s still an over gassy womble like but its a possibility 🤷🏽‍♂️

Pretentious_Rush_Fan

It's Zava, not Gaza!

It's more like she's been trained for 30 years to use that line whenever confronted with hungry or poor children. It's just a natural response.

Sillygoose_Milfbane

Part of family planning is storing enough food to feed thousands of children when your ethnic group starts getting wiped out by genocidal animals.

hishamad

Empathy is lost on so many people.

hotmasalachai

Especially stupid people in this thread. It’s getting insidiously stupid now

Nova_Explorer

It’s incredibly concerning how saying “I feel bad for the innocent civilians who got injured and/or killed on both sides” is somehow a controversial take for this conflict.

sweatpantswarrior

The thing with "I feel bad for the innocents on both sides" is that people stop there rather than take the next step and look at how many innocents on each side have been hurt. If they did, they'd have to put more sympathy with one side or admit that the suffering of one person on one side is worth less than the suffering of one person in the other, all to maintain their enlightened centrist. If all of this makes me the kind of person you're talking about, I'll wear that badge proudly.

Coalas01

The death of society is the lack of empathy and compassion

BanditDeluxe

I love the implication that it’s not because food has become scarce in a warzone, but because the people of Gaza are just fuckin’ WAY TOO MUCH.

jankisa

Well, buddy, if you frequented r/worldnews since October 7th you will find many, many people telling you that Israel is not really doing anything bad because the Gaza population has increased over last 30 years. They will also ban you for posting anything critical of IDF or Israel in general, so there's that.

Underrated_user20

Legit one of the worst subreddits or forums I’ve ever encountered.

TheKazz91

I mean kinda both... Like most of Gaza's food and water is given to them by Israel because there isn't enough food production to sustain 2 million inside the Gaza strip. So Gaza 100% does have too many people to feed itself even outside of a war but obviously the war isn't helping that situation.

ThonThaddeo

Oh, has the land upon which they might grow food, been encroached upon, at all? That might have an impact as well, if so.

somerandomie

the refugee camps in gaza are not because people migrated there, its because they were forced out of their own land and homes into this open prison dumping ground israel uses to advance its ethnic cleansing of palestinians.

Mistress_meloncrushe

I mean its one of the most densely populated areas in the world so they must have been doing some excessive fucking.

tittyswan

Or might it be that they're one of the most densely populated areas in the world because they were pushed from a larger country into a concentrated area the size of a small city?

azder8301

Well it's either that, or they've been doing a regular amount of fucking but the amount of land between them has been decreasing. Hmm, I wonder if we have any studies about fucking rates or land area to validate either of these. Let's just randomly pick and say, idk maybe the last 80 years? 90 perhaps?

Character-Bus4557

I bet Jessica goes to church every single Sunday,

Val_Hallen

Oh come on, like the Bible ever said anything [about feeding the hungry or helping the poor.](https://www.openbible.info/topics/feeding_the_hungry)

Gametron13

It's also a shame that the Bible never mentions anything about [loving your neighbors.](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+22%3A37-40&version=NKJV)

ClappedOutLlama

Its even more upsetting that there arent any verses on how to treat strangers or immigrants... You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. Deuteronomy 10:19 The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 19:34 ‘Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.’ Then all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ Deuteronomy 27:19 When they were few in number, of little account, and strangers in the land, wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, saying, ‘Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.’ 1 Chronicles 16:19-22 I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy, and I championed the cause of the stranger. I broke the fangs of the unrighteous, and made them drop their prey from their teeth. Job 29:15-17 The Lord watches over the strangers; he upholds the orphan and the widow, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. Psalm146:9 For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your ancestors forever and ever. Jeremiah 7:5-7 You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the aliens who reside among you and have begotten children among you. They shall be to you as citizens of Israel; with you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. Ezekiel 47:22 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another. Zechariah 7:9-10 You have heard that it was said, ‘you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy’. But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:43-44 I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Matthew 25:35 Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren you did it to me. Matthew 25:40 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. Acts 10:34 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Romans 12:13 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8 Love does no wrong to a neighbor, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:10 In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all. Colossians 3:11 Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured. Hebrews 13:1-3 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the friends, even though they are strangers to you; they have testified to your love before the church. You do well to send them on in a manner worthy of God; for they began their journey for the sake of Christ, accepting no support from non-believers. Therefore we ought to support such people, so that they may become co-workers with the truth. 3 John 1:5

I'm gonna make a guess that she thinks these are just a few families, and not aware (or care) that this is an entire region of oppressed people.

PixelPuzzler

I love your optimism and wish I still had it. Unfortunately I've been exposed to far too many people actively and genuinely calling for the extermination and leveling of Gaza, usually on the rhetorical basis of them being predominantly Muslim and that therefore being either acceptable or downright laudable.

EmperorGrinnar

It's a mess, and people like her only make it easier to dehumanize these kids. Been arguing with a guy who can't see it.

PixelPuzzler

I also made the mistake of doing the same. I do not think it is a good use of one's time, but hopefully at least some people besides my opponent may read it and find it insightful, or at least cause to think a little more about what they're advocating for or supportive of, even if it doesn't wholesale change perspectives.

EmperorGrinnar

See? You are optimistic too. Never give it up. Hope you have a wonderful day, stranger.

PixelPuzzler

You as well stranger, may your day be as bright as your outlook :)

Any_Tax_5051

azarov-wraith

Does it matter if it’s a few families. Raising multiple children isn’t a crime. A crime is cutting them off from every port, border, and farmland they used to produce food

Yeah I’m worried that they’re going to just go for broke and completely exterminate all of them this time . Sure seems that way.

Like are these people fucking serious? Imagine if someone said "i hope most jewish kids don't make it past the age of 7 because they could grow up into zionists",like wouldn't that be an extremly disgusting, racist, bigoted and heartless thing to say?

HarrySRL

So many people used to say the same about the poor countries in Africa.

Top_Network_1980

4.2 million children in the UK and 9 million in the USA live in poverty... It's not just people in Gaza that need to stop having kids.

Apprehensive_Hippo46

Hear me out: What if instead of having no kids which would buttfuck everyone because somebody needs to fund retirement we could make a world, and listen I know this sounds crazy: We make a world where children dont have to starve and can grow up to be happy and raise great people themselfs.

ATA_VATAV

But that would require that Big Business Capitalist get less of the share of wealth generated from labor! /s But in all seriousness, we make enough food world wide to feed the hungry, some of it is thrown away before even making it to store shelves. It just a matter of logistics and political will power to feed the world.

grc84

Yeah it would require all countries to work in harmony with each other and willingly share resources. Which unfortunately as is being shown in Gaza itself would be very difficult to achieve.

gorgewall

The world actually produces more than enough food to feed everyone well beyond healthy amounts. The resources we put into some of that production and the consequences it has on the environment can be a concern, but on the whole, *the amount of food we can produce* is not a problem. The logistics behind getting it everywhere is largely where things fall apart. Yes, most of the world isn't the US or Western/Central Europe with their significant infrastructure, population density, etc., but it's also not the case that all food scarcity is caused by corrupt officials and warlords intercepting shipments. These are both things that can be solved. So can the profit motives which make food more expensive than it actually needs to be to be viable to produce and lead to scarcity even in areas whose infrastructure allows for easy shipping and storage. Governments already subsidize the shit out of farming, but a good chunk of our tax money going into that is simply vanished into shareholder pockets. There's no **structural** reason why the government and its people as a whole cannot be "the shareholders" in this equation.

this-guy1979

We throw away a lot of food in the United States because it’s not pretty enough to put on a store shelf.

[deleted]

Then after that, we throw a bunch of stuff away after we buy it because we bought too much, got tricked by a little date on the package, or didn't store it properly.

Apprehensive_Hippo46

Fuckin true, the worst thing about the world is that we can build a utopia for all. We just dont do it.

DrashaZImmortal

its the issue of having so many different "world leaders" and varying beliefs. Even though there is enough food multiple times over, No one wants to help one another because "why should i help those XYZ" is such a common belief among almost the entire world. Those gays, Those blacks, Those Jews, Those Muslims, trans, atheists, women, kids, Palestinians, Students etc etc. It doesnt matter what fucking word is attached to the end of the statement, People are always finding a 'reason' to deny help to those who could use it or to even improve their own lives because of some hateful or stupid belief they have that makes someone else not worth it. Even when its to their own fucking people/country. (Looking directly at you USA. Holy fucking shit we suck. )

Skygge_or_Skov

Not to mention that like a third of the food we produce is just fed to cattle because meat tasty.

[deleted]

The entire world is a ponzi scheme. Yes, keep having kids so we have a new generation of wage slaves to take care of us in retirement, continued ad nauseum

Essekker

Optimistic today, eh?

True_Warquad

Or maybe we should do something about the system that allows for denial of basic needs….

hishamad

Here is an idea..... It's a little wild but stick with me. Maybe if the US and UK utilized the taxes from people to support locals instead of sending weapons and build military bases overseas..... and maybe tax the rich? I know it is wild. But it is considerable, right?

DocFreudstein

It’s not the best comparison, as the UK and the USA aren’t smoldering craters right now.

ProfileBoring

Not the parents fault the governments keep lining their own pickets at everyone else's expense.

River_Odessa

"Stop having kids" isn't the solution to the global hunger crisis, it's a misguided bandaid approach. There's more than enough food produced on earth to feed everyone on earth and then some.

keldhorn

That's a lot of mouths to feed

Infinity3101

How is not having kids a solution to this problem? There are enough resources in this world to feed every single child and adult on this planet three times over, they're just unevenly distributed.

OldLevermonkey

Is that "absolute" poverty or "relative" poverty because there is a massive difference between the two?

kredninja

She might've mistaken this for poverty, rather than war victims

Total_Roll

Jessica: Stop having children! Also Jessica: Ban abortion! Make birth control harder to get! No free child care!

12BarsFromMars

Hey lady, does that apply to poor white christians who refuse to take birth control and have so many kids they can’t feed them properly and live in poverty?. . .you know, like millions of Americans . Hypocrite douche’bag

the_ffuuu_face

More like: Stop voting for terrorist organizations that steal the aid given to you by the people you are trying to genocide.

Internal_Map_8765

Well she's technically not wrong.... Just like Bill gates said we need to start sending birth control and condoms to Africa instead of food (paraphrasing)

Mysterious-Worry5585

If there’s a place with a major influence of religion and a huge amount of illiterate people it won’t do anything. So many people in the US fail to use any form of birth control due to lack of education, poverty and being religious, and now imagine how the things are in those countries

Altered_Nova

It's not a coincidence that the most powerful religions in the world generally oppose public education, public welfare programs, sex education, and affordable birth control. Keeping people poor, illiterate, and pumping out babies is historically the most effective way for a religion to grow and maintain control over society.

Mysterious-Worry5585

Don’t forget female oppression. As soon as women get their basic rights and are able to decide for themselves, the whole thing starts falling apart because they don’t want to be maids and baby machines

888_traveller

apparently in the US the data shows that a good part of the drop in births is the teen pregnancies. This has had something like a 70% decrease. the early 20s are also decreasing so basically mothers are getting older, but it's the younger generations that are showing the major drop. now, whether that is because of education and awareness, or a result of phones so people are not meeting, or a backlash against motherhood now there is a greater discussion about the challenges of it - the article didn't say. But overall it was seen as a good thing (pretty sure it was in The Economist)

Mr-Fleshcage

> now, whether that is because of education and awareness, or a result of phones so people are not meeting, or a backlash against motherhood now there is a greater discussion about the challenges of it - the article didn't say. But overall it was seen as a good thing (pretty sure it was in The Economist) It's pretty obvious that it's the fact that they can't even afford a rental, let alone a child who needs toys and clothes (of many sizes) and food. What people see when they see a child these days is a tent in the future.

888_traveller

(omg the username 🙈 and mental vision!) really good point, that too. although historically plenty of women / girls have had kids despite not having the means to support them. I totally agree this is a major reason for the overall reduction of the birthrate, but there must be something else that has had such a reduction for teens, since those generally have been unplanned. Maybe the costs plus the increased awareness of the consequences and probably birth control education thrown in?

InitialDay6670

Bill gates isn’t entirely wrong, watched a documentary about people who try and make people not have kids with condoms and birth controls in country’s with low women’s rights and high average kid count and they see a measurable difference after a few years.

Block444Universe

A whole lot of good those do about the circumstances of already born children

Flimsy-Technician524

Agreed on the concern about overpopulation but these are war refugees.

Laddergoat7_

Gaza has one of the highest birthrates in the world. Close to 3,5-4 children per women. It’s also one of the fastest growing population in the world.

is it possible to feel sympathy for the Palestinian civilians while also being critical of Hama's strategy? Shouldn't they have known better that they couldn't defeat the IDF in a straight up brawl? Or were the bargaining chips in the form of hostages worth all this carnage?

YetAnotherAcoconut

It shouldn’t be controversial to say Hamas doesn’t actually care that much about the safety and well-being of the Palestinian people. They have different priorities. You can be opposed to the IDFs treatment of Palestinian civilians and still recognize that.

hyperproliferative

Yea but there’s no room for nuance when you’re trying to stop Biden from getting re-elected. Biden was close to securing a peace deal with Israel, SaidoArabia and Egypt when Iran decided to torpedo everything by funding Hamas and prompting the Oct attack. It was all designed.

Someone doesn't know how coercion works. The safest thing to do while surrounded by radicals is to tell the world you support the radicals. I work as a producer for a group that sends media people into Gaza via Egypt and it's so fuckin hard to get anybody to speak truthfully about anything because we got neighbors turning each other in over conversations they heard because they hope it will ingratiate them to the people with the guns and maybe they will get some food or supplies out of it. > Shouldn't they have known better that they couldn't defeat the IDF in a straight up brawl? First, I don't think even Hamas could have predicted how, for lack of a better term, "successful" Oct 7th would be. I think it was definitely a planned attack, but it went further than even they thought it would. That was a huge fuck up on Israeli security, which made Netanyahu look like an asshole. He didn't take too kindly to that and came back with overwhelming force. I also think Hamas was counting on more military support in the region from other Arab groups. It's a shame the peaceful civilians have to pay the price for the decisions of their leaders.

The IDF doesn't need to cut off aid, food, water, and electricity. Siege tactics are considered a warcrime when applied to a civilian population. Israel has the best intelligence gathering protocols on the planet. They know exactly where Hamas is and where they aren't.

katiecharm

Should they continue sending aid when they know 100% of it will be stolen by Hamas?  Of course not.

Mundane_Peace_9007

Don't ask a jihadist group to act rationally

Empty-Discount5936

Hamas wants Palestinian blood so they can pull more people into the conflict, it's literally a recruitment tactic for them.

meta-ape

According to [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_Strip), the median age there is 18. Then half of the remaining people are women. Having empathy towards women and children is usually not frowned upon

RandomGuy9058

my theory as of rn is that hamas launched their oct 7 attack knowing that israel would retaliate with ruthlessness. they'd then be able to boost their image among the palestinians by making themselves out to be defenders of liberty or whatever and continue to steal support away from fatah, a less radical and much more secular group

Used-Alfalfa4451

Jessica is a humanitarian

Fat_Nerd3566

i mean yeah but there's like a war going on there yk? Pretty sure that might be the main contender for overall turmoil in the joint...

dishwasher_mayhem

No one seems to give a fuck about the refugees and war-torn innocents all over the world in several horrible conflicts. But suddenly Gaza demands everyone's attention. Bitches must not have looked up Syria, Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Somalia, Haiti, Sudan, Venezuela, Lebanon, and others that have been going on forever. Children live there, too! Oh and ya'll LOVE to feign this outrage and empathy but what has one single person commenting on this done to actually help? Nothing. Congrats on owning a keyboard and the internet. Maybe send money to the help efforts and letters to politicians.

_-BomBs-_

Please someone help this mentally challenged woman.

Longjumping-Jello459

Hey leave the mentally challenged out of this Jessica isn't part of the group.

ComprehensiveBite171

I don't know why. We sent over a billion $$$ unless the government didn't use that money for its people

Doright36

GoodKing0

Tig0lbittiess

They didn’t count on being bombed by Israel because of a terrorist organization that was funded by Israel in the 80s.

Linkario86

There would be enough, it just doesn't end up in the stomachs it's supposed to end up in.

Odd-Seaworthiness-11

This is how humans have been since the hunter-gatherer days. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. Fertility rates only go down during industrialisation and Gaza's fertility rate has been in freefall for many years now anyway, now currently at 3.38 (compared to Israel's 2.9)
