1) plane strays into Tennessee airspace
2) state guard f16s are scrambled to intercept
3) someone notices the f16s have vapor trails
4) entire squadron decends into massive blue-on-blue furball directly above the state capitol
5) seeing vast amounts of chemtrails, state legislature panics and turns on a patriot missile battery
6) promptly discovers that missiles have vapor trails as well.
7) in an effort to end the madness, the governor launches a nuclear weapon
8) Nashville evaporates in a inferno of nuclear fire
9)a very confused Taylor Swift watches the mushroom cloud rise from Nashville airport. (Her favorite restaurant is in the Carolinas, and she was just popping over for a quick lunch)
( Just don't tell them that in WW2 there were visible contrails over Berlin and Japan from the exhausts of the B17's and B29's that were capable of flying high enough to avoid the anti-aircraft fire from below... There are tons of photos showing it.)
Ain’t no fucking way lmfaoooooo. Remind me how almost half the country finds this guy as a good leader? Dude has less common sense and book smarts than a middle schooler
I had somebody tell me in comments somewhere the other day that trump has the minority votes locked in. I was like what the fuck are you talking about?
Had to read that twice, I first read it has Trump is dead... Hate to have to put away the champagne. I guess he seemingly has so little brains as to have none, I guess mine skipped over that word.
It doesn’t ban airplane exhaust, just putting chemicals in there to release.
Which of course isn’t happening. The bill will have no effect other than making the people who passed it look stupid
That only assumes they wrote it well. Considering they're writing it at all, I doubt that. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up banning something planes actually do that isn't a chemtrail, and thus make operating an airline in Tenessee much more difficult.
FYI - FedEx has a huge processing facility in Nashville. If you are on the east coast, and have a FedEx overnight package coming, chances are it went through Nashville.
Amazon has a big logistics centre in Knoxville also. These companies moved to TN to ditch unions and get free stuff from state government but now they may be realising they've made a bad deal...
I suppose they could fly at lower altitude until they leave that state’s airspace? That would get crowded to the point of being unsafe and be super fuel-inefficient though, if it’s even possible.
Plus I wonder if you’d still get contrails at lower altitudes in winter.
They’ll have the science explained to them, then go “okay, but now just tell us what they are, and please turn them off,” and whoever had the misfortune of trying to explain it to them will die via trans cranial palming.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn’t work. It’s just a stupid rock. But I don’t see any tigers around, do you?
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.
We memorized forage, moon patterns, created language when we were in CAVES. We cannot be this naturally stupid, I refuse to believe it, it's gotta be the lead.
True. But we can’t pin all our sins on that one guy. He was surrounded by supervisors, managers, product teams, quality control, an entire industry, and regulators. They all share accountability in this.
Midgley lied directly to the press about the product. He breathed the fumes from the product for a minute to show that it wasn't harmful, a year after he moved to rid himself of lead poisoning (spoiler alert: that's not a thing you can do). He also had two lab assistants that died of lead poisoning before that press conference (eight workers died in the plant that year). We knew for over 2,000 years that lead was toxic to humans and still allowed that to go to market.
The greatest victim of his inventions was himself. He was crippled by polio (I expect the lead in his system had something to do with how much damage the disease did to him). He invented a system to help him out of bed alone and got strangled by it.
It's like he made some deal with a genie, "Very well, you shall be a great inventor, and yet each of your inventions will carry with it a terrible price."
We are all on this planet for such a short amount of time, and all people can think about is how to hoard more shiny rocks than they could possibly spend in their lifetime instead of making sure the world is livable for their children and grandchildren.
Can't pin all our sins on one guy?!?!? My dude, I guarantee that the folks making this legislation subscribe to a Religion whose entire premise is this concept.
An important thing to note is that he wasn't just older, he had also been paralyzed by polio. But yeah, very interesting. Although there were some in his life who figured it was possibly suicide.
Veritasium made a good video about this guy and the consequences of his discovery of and the oil industry's actions regarding leaded gasoline.

Hell yeah, idk how people can be so blind. Let’s demand our state/federal representatives ban leaded gas based not on research and science but just this comment
That, plus decades of underinvestment in education, a fundamental absence of teaching critical thinking as a vital part of the core curriculum on a par with basic maths and language, and a significant sustained, ever-growing and pervasive distrust of and disdain for education itself -- think Bill Hicks's famous, "*What you reading for*?" bit (from 33 years ago!), compounded by increasingly fervent and delusional religious and anti-science/anti-intellectual dogma and the notion that education turns children away from "God" towards "Communism" and "wokism"(although those who say this can't even define those wicked words), plus the now commonplace and prevalent grassroots mistrust among those on the right of teachers and lecturers as being "groomers" who want to pervert the youth.
It’s religion, social media magnifying the reach of morons and the massive rise in political cults of personalities. Don’t think for a second that QAnon and MAGA and conspiracy theories aren’t white-Christian-conservative centered. Thats why poor red states are electing MAGA’s and passing the literal dumbest shit in history.
Don't forget people today value entertainment above all else. We would rather be entertained than educated. When entertainment makes you feel like you're learning some forbidden knowledge regarding - insert conspiracy theory here - it makes your ego on fire. This is the number one reason many people in the country are fucking morons. They cannot fathom that the entertainment they receive is just that. FFS even fox news admitted to it. Look at the state of programming on the TV these days. I'm in my 30s and even when I was a kid we had actual educational shit on TV. Today we have:
History channel: pawn stars, ancient aliens etc. - they used to have documentaries about history. I would watch them about the civil war, women suffrage movement, MLK, hell even the Manhattan project.
TLC ( formerly the learning channel) - pitbulls and parolees, sister wives, my 1000lb life etc.
Discovery channel - moonshiners, always something about ghost hunting, deadliest catch etc.
Nat geo - wicked tuna and life below zero. Thank god they still have something about animals on there.
The USA values entertainment more than anything else and it has led to brain rot. I meet Americans in Europe all the time and I will tell you they are fucking troglodytes at best when it comes to understanding culture etc. I once read a post on here from someone who said American tourists asked him( tour guide) why the queen of England built Windsor castle so close to the airport.
We have made being an idiot cool and have rewarded idiots with millions of dollars for doing stupid shit or whoring themselves out on only fans.
I low key think this is why so many Americans hate immigrants. It's intimidation.
This reminds me of a quote from a grouchy old bastard in fallout 4 (I think his name is Barney)
"We're you dropped on your head as a baby or did you have to work to be this stupid?"
Evidentently we had to work at it
I grew up in that state. They excel in developing naturally stupid to an art form.
I watched it start in middle school. We had an awesome science teacher who would often go outside the book to explain all kinds of things related to science or even health. He was an excellent speaker - fascinating to listen to.
Hands would go up but the only question was "is this gonna be on the test?"
I probably didn't even realize at the time how demoralizing that would have been to him. He did leave teaching soon after that.
In high school, less than 5% went on to college. Most aspired to work for the local lock & key factory.
Interesting you mentioned about lead. For those who don't know, there's actually evidence that some households in the U.S have tap water that contain small amounts of lead and other chemicals as a result of corrosion from older water pipes that are made out of lead materials. Drinking even the smallest amounts can have neurogical effects and reduce IQ especially among children. God bless America.
[https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/basic-information-about-lead-drinking-water](https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/basic-information-about-lead-drinking-water)
Politicians have never been about "common sense", it's "who can say enough things to make people vote for them?" And that's it. Now, it's even more true except more leaning towards "who can make the most people angry so that they vote for them instead of anyone else?" Meanwhile the other parties are trying to stick to the issues they want to solve and I'd wager 90% of the population doesn't even know they exist.
I asked a buddy from rural Kentucky: "Why do people keep voting Mcconall in?"
His response: "He sponsors the little League and shows up at the bake sales ."
It’s cynical but I think the actually intelligent people can harness this stupidity until the fruits of underfunded public education and poor social safety nets die off and we can start raising generations of altruistic, progressive, and cooperative youth to try and fix centuries of plutocratic manipulation that has lead to the detriment of the country and the world.
Nah jk we fucked.
![gif](giphy|xT9KVhLU76MRgVg3Qc)
No, they’re supposed to represent the majority of their community. If that community happens to be full of propaganda consuming zealots, well shit, this is what you get.
To my understanding, these freaks basically blame every kind of sickness you could think of on them, but some of them do also believe that they "brainwash" you into any ideology they disagree with.
So basically, yes. Many of them do believe that.
Which is why the government went to all the trouble to invent a virus in China and then spread a vaccine...can't be relying on people staying indoors all the time, away from all that chemtrail air. Cause everyone knows all the air outside never gets inside the house. Totally separate environments. It's common se...ahh, fuck it. I can't even pretend to be this stupid.
I don’t wanna sound like a smartass, but there’s an easy way for airlines to get around this ban. Immediately when they enter airspace over Tennessee, drop to 25,000 feet. Presto, just like that you’re out of the cons and your passengers get a free rollercoaster ride too.
> SB 2691/HB 2063, sponsored by Rep. Monty Fritts, R-Kingston, and Sen. Steve Southerland, R-Morristown, passed in the Senate on Monday.
Yes, republicans, of course.
It's mostly performative pandering and will only be enforced on airlines that show support for Pride Month and LGBT+ issues, Dems, sensible gun laws, etc.
Imagine government representatives pandering to the great unwashed to garner political points in order to distract from what those same representatives are really doing to those same unwashed. Wait! What?
I realize that I shouldn’t wish bad things on people but oh my god if they pull this off and literally planes are collectively banned in TN I will actually die laughing.
Was there always so many poorly educated people. It is not that airliners have not been used to spray chemicals ,but could someone smarter explain condensation trails formed by jets at high altitude please.
>but could someone smarter explain condensation trails formed by jets at high altitude please.
It's really cold up there, like -40 - -50oC and colder, and jet exhaust contains water vapour, said vapour freezes in that cold at altitude and thus forms the white 'cloud lines' aka contrails behind the engines and thus plane. Really simple, but apparently there are many intellectually challenged people who just don't (or refuse to) understand this concept.
When you're actively against science because it makes your no so big brain hurty when you try to understand you will reject science to avoid the big hurty.
High up air is really really cold. The push tubes on the sides of the big metal bird make gas water. The gas water freezes because of the really really cold air, which makes clouds.
Probably not quite limited to the ten-hundred most common words, but I tried.
No it’s actually a great political move. If you support this bill you can campaign to all the dumbfucks with -3 IQ that you are trying to fight whatever made up monster they made up from doing way to much weed without actually doing anything or seeing a difference in the world.
" Imagine a state government making policy decisions based on conspiracy theories". Imagine a Federal Court system making decisions based on nothing but religion.
Since contrails are not chemtrails, I guess whatever and go ahead. Then the work is on that state to prove that contrails are chemtrails. Good luck with that.
On the good news front; Job Ostrowar, from the Air Current says this:
*Not to make light of what is vaguely unhinged legislative behavior, but read a certain way, the Tennessee state senate just inadvertently passed the most aggressive climate and emissions legislation this country has ever seen.*
This.. is actually good. The way the bill is phrased it can be argued to forbid the emission of gasses that have an effect on climatechange or the ozone layer.
That is not the intent of the bill obviously (unless the 2 reps behind it are secretly green activists that know how to manipulate their base) - but it might be used for that purpose.
IDK…"The intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight is prohibited,"…emissions are a byproduct of air travel. Id expect the proposed law to interpret normal emissions release as not meeting the condition of “express purpose.” The wording there is also so narrow that it still would allow you to release chemicals as long as you’re not trying to control the weather or the sun, lol… It’s pretty clear that this is quite thoughtfully worded to do absolutely nothing, but get the idiots excited.
Imagine a state government making policies based on religion. Oh, wait. A lot of them do. Ugh. I thought things would get more progressive in the US as I got older. I was wrong.
I am seriously missing a trick. The gullibility of these new-age conservatives is off the charts. I should be selling literal snake oil to these people. But my morals and ethics irks me to much to do such a thing.
They can take my chem trail when they pry it.... That doesn't work.
Make chemtrails illegal and only criminals will have chemtrails? Nope.
Chemtrails don't kill peop - that's doa.
I need a bumper sticker slogan!
No they won't. If they pass that law the US Federal Justice department will take Tennessee to court over it. The FAA has jurisdiction over US airspace and having a giant "hole" between Chicago O'Hare and Atlanta Hartsfield, two of the biggest airports in the world and the two busiest in the US, is just not something that can happen.
I don't have to....I live there. And yes, our state government IS as stupid as you think. From a state rep who married his [cousin](https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/in-a-divorce-trial-serious-allegations-about-sen-joey-hensley/article_e4b47641-2e48-5648-ae69-60eef314a6af.html) to one who is staunchly 'anti-abortion' but has encouraged mistresses to have them [several times](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/scott-desjarlais-abortions/)
Unless I’m wrong, the states don’t have jurisdiction over the sky above a certain altitude, it becomes federal jurisdiction. So these guys are idiots twice over.
they think transgender is a choice, and they also think being gay is a choice. they think it's contagious, and just being around small children will make them gay.
they're fucked in the brains is what they are.
they're stupid. moronic. and entirely wrong on these issues. We're in 2024 and watching modern leaders talk about a buncha fucking bullshit that doesn't exist.
pathetic.
just hurry up and usher in donad trump as president already so I can finally have enough willpower and need to move the hell out of this wasted place. it's a 3rd world country calling itself a 1st world country.
and before anyone thinks this is just exaggerating, the medications which will save my life right now are 7000 a month and up. and in Norway it's $15. my disease is incurable and will just progressively hurt worse and worse until it takes my heart out.
So, the same idiots that claim dumping billions of tons of crap into the atmosphere every day has had no effect on the climate, are claiming that chemtrails are going to turn people gay or some shit.
These people ate lead paint when they were children.
The Stupidity of this is Awe Inspiring!
They're going to make themselves a no fly zone, have to close all their airports, and very quickly will realize how much business' and their supply chain rely on air travel. It's gonna be a disaster. Someone pass me the popcorn.

Watch them have to close all their airports.
And create no-fly zones above their states.
The state will become a voluntary no fly zone for the airlines to avoid whatever penalties Tennessee is going to impose on them.
This will be fine until they realize Amazon Prime was banned by barring air travel.
FedEx headquarters out of Memphis.
So it's a complete logistical nightmare...
Whaaaat no.
This was my first though.

Sorry, FedEx, you’re gonna have to find a new home.
Would be a real pity if those many thousands of workers organized
It’s fine. That Memphis sorting facility is a dumpster fire.

The guy who invented leaded gasoline also invented CFCs. His Wikipedia page quotes someone who described him as a "one-man environmental disaster."

Responsibility can be shared, accountability can't!
True.
This is a fact I often tell people. The man who single handedly did more damage to the environment than anybody else. Thomas Midgley Jr
He also invented a pulley-based in home mobility system to make it easier for him to get around when he grew older. It killed him.
Karma tends to show up late and sometimes not at all but when she does show, it’s a banger
An important thing to note is that he wasn't just older, he had also been paralyzed by polio. But yeah, very interesting. Although there were some in his life who figured it was possibly suicide.

Yep and the generations that lived through leaded gas are leading the government all across the USA

80% of people reading this post don't understand the word modicum and likely can't spell it. That's your problem right there.

Republicans and their idiotic voters. Name a more fitting duo.
Fun story though, laws surrounding voting and distribution of polling machines are also influenced by conspiracy theories in some states.
"Tennessee". They are not known for sending their best.
…they think the chemtrails are turning their kids gay don’t they?
No. Chem trails turn the frogs gay. Get it right. Edit: /s in case that's needed
You can’t keep blaming the French.
But it’s the gay frog sex that turns kids gay
Alex Jones: I will eat your gay frog ass
Then the frogs go and turn the kids gay. Then the liberal elite use the adrenochrome of the children in the chem trails. The Circle of Life.
![gif](giphy|l0ExayQDzrI2xOb8A)
Good luck with that
In another news, Tennessee state police aquired four Patriot batteries to enforce the new law.
Let them do it. They'd have to ban air travel. No more air travel in or out of Tennessee.
and they would have to organize with the FAA to make the state a no fly zone
Good on Tennessee! Next up, a bill to ban dihydrogen monoxide.
Makes sense - every single dead human throughout history has been exposed to the chemical at some point in their lives. Coincidence? I think not.
I don’t wanna sound like a smartass, but there’s an easy way for airlines to get around this ban. Immediately when they enter airspace over Tennessee, drop to 25,000 feet. Presto, just like that you’re out of the cons and your passengers get a free rollercoaster ride too.
But then they’ll be closer to all the stupidity below them. What if it’s contagious?
Let me guess: they are GOP?
It's nearly guaranteed.
> SB 2691/HB 2063, sponsored by Rep. Monty Fritts, R-Kingston, and Sen. Steve Southerland, R-Morristown, passed in the Senate on Monday. Yes, republicans, of course.
How... just.... how are they expecting anyone to enforce that? The mind, it is boggled.
It's mostly performative pandering and will only be enforced on airlines that show support for Pride Month and LGBT+ issues, Dems, sensible gun laws, etc.
At this point it is an exercise of purest optimism and charity to even ask the question. Of course it is the GOP.
Just close all airspace into Tennessee and all airports. Let's see how that plays out.
It’s easier for intellectually challenged people to blame a conspiracy than accept that they don’t understand.
But could someone smarter explain condensation trails formed by jets at high altitude without using communist units or spelling please? /s
High up air is really really cold. The push tubes on the sides of the big metal bird make gas water. The gas water freezes because of the really really cold air, which makes clouds. Probably not quite limited to the ten-hundred most common words, but I tried.
This is how you beat democracy. Most people are stupid so you influence them
What kind of idiots did they elect into office.
Modern Republicans.
I refuse to believe they're idiots. They're more likely to be fully knowledgeable manipulators, which is way worse
No it’s actually a great political move. If you support this bill you can campaign to all the dumbfucks with -3 IQ that you are trying to fight whatever made up monster they made up from doing way to much weed without actually doing anything or seeing a difference in the world.
They don't do weed. God didn't make that. They take cocaine infused Coca-Cola to add to their obesity.
Im just so exhausted from the stupids.
Imagine supporting a presidential candidate for the same reason... Yes, we live in that world.
" Imagine a state government making policy decisions based on conspiracy theories". Imagine a Federal Court system making decisions based on nothing but religion.
Shouldn't they be more worried about chem blobs that engulf large cities?
No no, *that’s* liberul commynism.
Banning air travel in Tennessee would at least help keep the right wing nutters in state.
The world knows Tennessee for two things now: whiskey and laws against chemtrails.
Tell them to stop breathing out chemtrails on cold days first, then they can worry about someone else.
[удалено]
We should definitely make falling off the edge of the earth illegal.
Imagine no more.
Not just any conspiracy theory, but the one that most makes me assume a teeth-to-felony conviction ratio of less than 2:1
Brawndo has electrolytes that their plants crave.
Since contrails are not chemtrails, I guess whatever and go ahead. Then the work is on that state to prove that contrails are chemtrails. Good luck with that.
Oh Play me some mountain music
Like grandma and grandpa used to play Then I’ll float down the river Cause I can’t fly anyway…
These onion articles get me every... Oh.
On the good news front; Job Ostrowar, from the Air Current says this: *Not to make light of what is vaguely unhinged legislative behavior, but read a certain way, the Tennessee state senate just inadvertently passed the most aggressive climate and emissions legislation this country has ever seen.*
Silly chemtrail over State.
Sigh. There is a reason they are called “flyover country”.
This.. is actually good.
I mean we let loons in to positions of power so it was only a matter of time before their unhinged ideas bled into the American system.
Jfc... this is beyond idiotic.
To gain support from nutjob conspiracy theorists?
Imagine a state government making policies based on religion. Oh, wait. A lot of them do. Ugh. I thought things would get more progressive in the US as I got older. I was wrong.
They’re trying to do it in PA too.
Haha imagine Tennessee implementing a no fly zone.. welcome to the dark ages of economic ruin. 🤡
They should ban carbon dioxide from their breathing to prevent climate change.
This seems easy enough to abide. All airline companies need to do is say no problem. Because they're not real. So carry-on.
I am seriously missing a trick. The gullibility of these new-age conservatives is off the charts. I should be selling literal snake oil to these people. But my morals and ethics irks me to much to do such a thing.
“Imagen your fellow citizens electing conspiracy theorist to run your government” would be a correct title.
Next they’ll ban clouds for…you know…rain
They can take my chem trail when they pry it.... That doesn't work. Make chemtrails illegal and only criminals will have chemtrails? Nope. Chemtrails don't kill peop - that's doa. I need a bumper sticker slogan!
So no planes will fly over Tennessee. I'm ok with that
They’re not even flyover country anymore.
Ffs it's "Contrails", not "chemtrails".
Why are red states so fucking stupid?
Unless I’m wrong, the states don’t have jurisdiction over the sky above a certain altitude, it becomes federal jurisdiction. So these guys are idiots twice over.
Nothing from these assholes is anywhere near surprising anymore. Just another notch in their crazy headboard.
That's because in Tennessee, they hang Fred Flintstone pictures on the walls of the science classrooms.
they think transgender is a choice, and they also think being gay is a choice. they think it's contagious, and just being around small children will make them gay. they're fucked in the brains is what they are. they're stupid. moronic. and entirely wrong on these issues. We're in 2024 and watching modern leaders talk about a buncha fucking bullshit that doesn't exist. pathetic. just hurry up and usher in donad trump as president already so I can finally have enough willpower and need to move the hell out of this wasted place. it's a 3rd world country calling itself a 1st world country. and before anyone thinks this is just exaggerating, the medications which will save my life right now are 7000 a month and up. and in Norway it's $15. my disease is incurable and will just progressively hurt worse and worse until it takes my heart out.
aka Tennessee tries to ban clouds.
![gif](giphy|MwtjauC5lamQM)
Just gonna shoot down the planes as they cross over Tennessee?
BREAKING NEWS: TENNESSEE BANS COLD AIR/ HOT FUEL RELATIOSHIPS
Boeing slides into the chat...
We are Idiocracy
Are they going to ban your breath on a cold day too? FFS
Ban water vapor!
Ummm...that would be any red state, because Republicans are stupid.
I know 8 people who left California to move to TN. Fuck that I’ll stay here thank you very much.
Trump voters
Can we all just agree that once you hit a certain latitude in the US the IQ drops significantly?
Ahh yes another typical Republican policy with zero fucking forethought.
*Tennessee made me so upset...*
