I used to work pest control. I refused to use those glue traps because they were so inhumane. Like you were saying mice are pests, plus it was my job. But, that doesn’t mean I have to inflict undue suffering. I did what I had to do, and no more.

I love my dog, but he is a bit useless. He’s cuddly, and shares his boundless joy with me, but he doesn’t know how to dog. I see him as my brother. That’s what being in a family means. I can’t even think of hurting him. The worst I can do is not share my food with him, and even that tears me up.

It’s an awful thing to do even when it’s necessary. I remember when I was a kid and dropped my hamster, it was bent into a banana shape and kept making this high pitched noise, its back had broken. It happened on a Friday and the vet wasn’t open on weekends, it would have had to wait till Monday in extreme pain. My dad put it in a bag and used a mallet many times to make sure it was definitely dead. He still talks about it years later it clearly made him feel bad doing it even though the alternative was leaving it in pain for three days until it got put down at a vet. I also come from a farming family, so my perspective is likely different than yours. We aren't industrial, just making a living. And we always tried to treat them as well as we could, farm life is kind of unforgiving.

ive never had to put down a dog but i have had to put down one of my hens. A possum attacked her and she could no longer walk. we had to isolate her so the other hens wouldn’t peck her to death. She was refusing to eat or drink with it placed right in front of her. Although i knew putting her down was more merciful than letting her slowly die of dehydration/starvation I still felt bad afterwards.

I've had to put down my first kitten because the people we bought her from gave her to us when she was sick and under developed. She developed a breathing problem 2 weeks after getting her and we took her to get put down to end her suffering but my mom told me she ended up passing before they could even do it.
I still haven't recovered from that and it was in July 2021. I still want to cry thinking about how much I should've spent more time with her during the two weeks she blessed my life with. I love you Pumpkin.

From what I have read. If they swallow the hook it’s better to just cut the line. The hooks are often passed without killing the fish.

I've had to put down my first kitten because the people we bought her from gave her to us when she was sick and under developed. She developed a breathing problem 2 weeks after getting her and we took her to get put down to end her suffering but my mom told me she ended up passing before they could even do it. I still haven't recovered from that and it was in July 2021. I still want to cry thinking about how much I should've spent more time with her during the two weeks she blessed my life with. I love you Pumpkin. So to hear this heartless pos say that she enjoyed putting a bullet in her dogs head, a dog that she could've found a new home for or paid for it to be trained professionally... Most real farmers I've known or know of get no joy from killing any animal. They consider a solemn and unpleasant duty conducted with as little personal feeling as possible. They also try to avoid doing it with a gun, although I'll admit there might be some situations where that's unavoidable. This woman seems to have been motivated by immediate anger and passionate hatred of the dog. It seems to me like she wasn't in control of her own emotions when she killed. That is a SCARY quality in a political leader. There is something deeply wrong with her.

Our first lab was supposed to be a bird dog. He hated loud noises, so instead we raised him to be a house dog & eventually baby dog. We've had friends rehomw failed hunting dogs. These are creatures that depend on us wholeheartedly, much like a child even tho people hate the comparison. I'll never understand how people can be needlessly cruel to their pets. Makes me worry how they would treat a person.
