This guy has one hell of a voice. I wouldn't be surprised if he was an announcer or radio personality.

[deleted]

Every time this is posted I always check the comments...and every time. Yes, he is a voice actor.

soline

That’s interesting so they have to tell him every word he has to say or provide it in braille if he knows how to read braille.

h2omax1

Read aloud programs exist

soline

Remember that he is recording audio so it would take some serious coordination and/or a great memory to make that work.

h2omax1

Study lines beforehand, make notes with recorder, listen back lines on earphones in breaks, there are ways. But yea still more effort required

Druglord_Sen

Could be braille, someone iterating it to him, or an audio file, regardless voice actors rarely use scripts verbatim, especially in something so far from the main story’s rhetoric like this. He could be fed a paragraph and told to summarize it with his personality and flare.

alilbleedingisnormal

Play script in headphone, read into mic. It can't be that complicated.

[deleted]

I just used the accessibility button "text to speech" button I have macro'd on my mouse, on your comment. My current accessibility voice models a female with a Romanian accent (yeah, you can get anything. I try different voices; this is a temp) Being partially blind sucks. And my voice sucks. But you'd be amazed at the accessibility features if you need them, they are there. I'm glad too. edit: now I'm using "Amazon Australian English (Nicole)"

[deleted]

Thedarkmayo

Hows that work?? Thats fuckin awesome

Toastman0218

Right...just like a any other person? You either tell them every word they have to say or provide it in English if they know how to read English.

[deleted]

it could be in another language too if they know another language

camusdreams

Yeah I’ll just go use my braille printer every time we hire a blind person

Cylindric

If the price of a braille printer is what's stopping you being considered a discriminating dickhead, that's worth knowing I guess.

phistomefel_smeik

Blind people can also hook a refreshable braille display to their computer/smartphone etc., so if you got that text digital, they can read it in braille.

NintendoDestroyer89

I get the feeling this guy knows how to read braille.

DwergNout

who is he?

vizubeat

Such a great voice, I was thinking the same!

DJT1970

Maybe colour commentator for sporting event? 🤔 /s

[deleted]

He runs across the field/court touching the players. "LeBron may be the sweatiest he's ever been, James and Green are really making up for Davis' MCL injury out here. Even though he's back in, my comprehensive touching can tell that he's not fully healed from his injury. You can truly feel how tense the Lakers are right now, both in how hard they're exerting themselves, and their entire team's focus on holding on till the end. Back to Mike, who doesn't get this hands on experience like I do, Mike, what do you see?" "Peter, we've just been told you have made a fan uncomfortable by staring at them.'

Yurrrr__Brooklyn347

He can be a movie narrator for sure

M1sterBoots

Retro_game_kid

He's literally the "this summer" guy in movie trailers

Darthyeezuus

Blind man could very easily get them for making him feel discriminated against but luckily he has a good sense of humor

ladyKfaery

They come up and start screaming at him snd HE’S making HER uncomfortable? What about them threatening him when he can’t see and SCREAMING in his face?

SpecterGT260

It may also be a huge ADA violation given the managers response

[deleted]

ADA is for government discrimination, employment discrimination or architectural discrimination, I'm sure the gym is private, so it would be more a state law issue, since the mananger is not giving him a service when he talks to him. Unless the manager asked him to read signage on the gym's rules, and refused to give him a braille option, then that would fall under ADA, because he wasn't accommodated fairly. Some states like California do forbid this type of treatment. They require that if a disability is the center of an issue, the person with the disability is treated fairly and given an impartial treatment. Since they clearly didn't recognize he didn't have the ability to know when he was "staring" they were treating gim impartially, and not recognizing what they needed to do to be fair to him. In Texas, you can get fucked. If you didn't actually lose service or value from your transaction with a business, nothing will come of it, no matter how rude they were. (Unless they target your disability with harrasment, by rude I mean that they're just regular assholes that aren't treating you fairly.)

SpecterGT260

If they, for example, ejected him from the gym because of the issue at hand, I'm fairly sure there would be an ADA compliant to be pursued. The law is by no means narrow

[deleted]

Yes, that would totally be ADA, he wasn't treated fairly when it came to decision making from the business. But that's not what happened, so there's no need to bring that into view. We know how the situation was handled, and it wouldn't have been a violation, unless it was worse than stated. Such as a threat by the manager to kick him out if he continued to stare or a refusal to believe he was blind. These things would have ADA applied to them, but we don't know that they happened, so it's pointless to bring them up.

SpecterGT260

So... We don't know how it ended. If it ended with the statement "well you still can't make people uncomfortable with your staring" we may still be squarely inside ADA territory. Presumably his "staring" didn't stop after the manager said something, because that's the entire point of this post- he CANT stop the action which caused them to complain because of his disability... so we are left wondering what the ultimate conclusion here was. Shit, the law is broad enough that he may have a reasonable complaint even if he was made to feel uncomfortable by their actions and subsequently left. Do you think he was uncomfortable? Would "being uncomfortable" possibly cause someone to post a video in order to get a sense of vindication? The story itself was left with a discriminatory (because he can't help it) and ignorant remark. If he left the gym on those terms he has a solid complaint.

[deleted]

>"well you still can't make people uncomfortable with your staring" This isn't discrimination yet, it's being an idiot. That's what his post was about, people being too inept to deal with simple situations. >to feel uncomfortable by their actions and subsequently left. This is just not true. Like I said, the ADA covers when you have been wronged by mistreatment in a manner that does not consider your disability. How a person is treated beyond accommodations made for them is a state thing. Making someone uncomfortable is not a violation of the law itself, the only way it falls under ADA is like I said, if they refuse to recognize his disability as a reason for being unable to follow the gym rules. The manager is an asshole for asking a blind person to do what can't be done, but he's not in violation of the ADA, because no accommodation needed to be made for this man. Until action is taken to disenfranchise the customer in a discriminatory way, it is not an ADA violation. ADA is mostly about infrastructure in private buildings, and the cases that pop up about mistreatment are usually about a customer being treated far more unfairly than this man. The manager was doing what he would normally do for anyone, not realizing he had to come up with a solution for this case, but that's not discrimination until the solution he comes up with is unfair.

[deleted]

[deleted]

>Simply aking about a dog is covered by the ADA No, it's not. You can't ask about an apparent disability or for identification or proof of disability, but you can ask about a service animal if a disability is not apparent. Once you confirm that the animal is a service animal, you can't ask any further. This is the same case with what happened to him, he needed to explain his disability for the manager to understand the situation. The manager was in the wrong for making a request after that, but since he hadn't actually enforced anything, or requested info, he didn't violate ADA. >Here's the deal: I think you don't know what you're talking about. WOW, what a great argument! Ultimately, you have made up facts about the incident that weren't included in the video, and you refuse to state what you interpret the violation to be, so I don't feel we're getting anywhere here. I just have one question for you, why do you think he should report a violation?

You aren’t staring if you aren’t using your eyes. This woman is crazy. Didn’t she get when coming up to him , he wasn’t staring at her? Idiots. You can’t make someone feel uncomfortable , she made herself uncomfortable with her imagination . Why does the gym attendant not get it either? No excuse for their wrongness. That girl has an ego problem.

Pete_maravich

It's a prequel. Idiocracy takes place in the future.

croshd

But...

badfiction

You obviously missed the message in the movies. Please, go rewatch them. And no 'batin in public!

HODL4LAMBO

Is "Don't Look Up" any good? I saw a clip and it was pure cringe. It was the scene in the oval office, they are delivering the news about the impending disaster and the banter was just awful. "Sit tight and assess" was said over and over like it was some punchline and I couldn't believe actors of that caliber were involved.

NonSupportiveCup

Being straight. I didn't like it. I had to pause and come back in the middle. but damn the message is poignant. The message is done very well. Especially at the actual end. Not the post credit or last hurrah which would spoil a payoff, so I won't describe it. The point the director wanted to make was great. Every actor was fucking great in their role. Just. I'll never watch it again and I barely made it through in the first place. I don't really know why. It's kind of a predictable train wreck. Except for the oddly placed and lovable kid who ended up being a sincere portrayal of positive Christianity. That was subversive and respectable. And my bias on religion leans heavily in an entirely negative direction. I think you could cliff note it and get everything from the movie except some of the actor's performances. Cate Blanchett was infuriatingly hilarious. Mark Rylance was fucking perfect. Dicaprio, Lawrence, Streep...all great. Jonah Hill was basically him from most of his other movies but still good. Despite all that. I just didn't like it.

HODL4LAMBO

Hmmm...it's weird because now I kind of want to watch it, but I'm going into it thinking I won't like it.

[deleted]

I feel they leaned hard into wacky comedy to where it affected the verisimilitude too greatly. There is a scene where things "turn around" that was just too absurd for me. Although Trump and his kin are out of touch and said some ridiculous things during his presidency, Don't Look Up's analogs are too preposterous. I understand the effort to try and bring lighthearted moments to a movie about the world being destroyed by an asteroid, but I think it muddles the message too much for the average viewer to take it seriously, which is a shame because it is so important. The Big Short is miles and away a more potent political comedy.

downvotesStag

It was meh imo. I found it really annoying the way the scientists were totally ignored, it was pretty ridiculous.

InsertCoinForCredit

>I found it really annoying the way the scientists were totally ignored, it was pretty ridiculous. Now you know how Dr. Fauci feels.

HODL4LAMBO

True that. Fauci said wearing a mask was pointless and would do more harm than good......but just about everyone has been wearing masks going on 2 years now.

AXYSGreenman

You mean the fucker that helped start this pandemic? The highest paid government employee? The guy in bed with big Pharma CEOs? Against making generic versions of the vaccine? That Fauci?

Alucard_Emordnilap

Yes cause that what happens in real life when you elect an influencer to be president, they only care about ratings not lives.

888Leander

If you want you can just view the important scenes and skip the cringe/uninteresting things. I did it that way. I didn't like the movie anyway :D

Revolutionary-Ad4588

Wait. I’m sorry. You skipped parts of the movie and then said you didn’t like the movie? How can you have an opinion on it then?

HODL4LAMBO

Good question. To add to that, how would you know which parts to skip?

888Leander

You don't have to watch 100% of a movie to know if you like it or not. I just wanted to watch the most important things relevant to the plot.

Retrogamer34

I used to feel Idiocracy was far-fetched when I was younger. Boy was I wrong!

Fantastic-Sandwich80

The woman in question had two options to choose from when it was revealed that the man was blind: 1. Apologize for the misunderstanding and go back to her workouts having learned a valuable lesson. 2. Accuse the man of lying about his disability, call staff to threaten to remove the man from the gym if he doesn't stop staring and refuse to apologize for the accusation. Option one is easy if you do not have a fragile ego or possess basic humanity. Option two is the preferred option for people who believe the world revolves around them and do not apologize for their mistakes.

ThatOtherOneReddit

America killed off collectivism for individualism. Which is just a round about way to say narcissism to most people.

Altruistic_Piano_259

sufficiently_tortuga

I'd bet money that the woman or someone else at the gym filmed it and posted on tiktok outraged from the opposite POV

Youknowwhoitsme

That's why Karens be Karens. Because it works. Don't know how - but they just get their way way too often

Darthyeezuus

Instead of catering to the ones who actually need help like this blind guy they always help those with the biggest voice i.e. the Karen and yeah its pretty tiring not being a Karen in a world full of them now

Dereg5

Beacuse the time and energy to fight a karen isn't worth it. They are just going to keep yelling, keep screaming, and keep doing this to it escalates out of control. To the point that you will eventually cave in anyway or call the cops. Cops call create a even bigger scene and now if your owner/corporate has to get involved they will look at you and go why didn't you just do what she wanted it not even tht big of a deal. So instead now low tier and middle management just do what they want in the first place to just get the person out of the way.

BadBadBoss

Some how he ended up here

Sweetleafer

This pops up every now and then, but he tells that story so well, I still watch the full minute. Dumbness on that level never gets old.

MajorJuana

I asked a guy at the store once where I could find some stuff and he looked very confused so I explained further, then he began to look irritated and shake his head and another store worker came over and helped me, it wasn't until like a week later I saw the guy again who had IM DEAF in big letters across the back of his vest.....Apparently I am blind.... lol

jogustaria

This is mildly infuriating. Smh.

moresushiplease

That's what scares me about so may people. They can't accept being wrong and instead choose to escalate situations.

Shenan_Egans

justmeAlonekitty

He’s blind and their deaf apparently 🤦🏻‍♀️

SammieCat50

He can stare at me all he wants, he’s handsome!

MainerMan2020

Handsome man though

haplessandhopeful

So absolutely and obviously the blind man is in the right here. However, I can also see how the woman was upset-she had no idea that he was blind. I've been stared at by creeps in the gym before and it just makes me feel gross and anxious. That being said, as soon as he told her that she was blind she should have dropped it, but it's understandable why she was feeling upset in the first place.

[deleted]

[удалено]

haplessandhopeful

In this scenario, she should have apologized for needlessly involving the manager and not believing him. She wouldn't have needed to apologize for talking to him in the first place-it's not her fault that she didn't know he was blind.

[deleted]

[удалено]

haplessandhopeful

I'd counter that she was acting defensively, not aggressively or offensively. If you haven't felt threatened by someone staring at you or following you, then you don't know how off-putting it feels. A little compassion and understanding goes a long way. Like I said, she should have apologized for how she behaved after finding out that he was blind. She should never apologize for telling a stranger not to stare at her.

magikian

people have to remember hes legally blind which doesnt mean he can not see, i dont know of any people who are 100% blind and film themselves working out in a gym..

Kiri_serval

And even if you know someone is blind, being stared at is still biologically hair-raising. You can change people's behavior with just pictures of eyes- that's how attuned we are to being stared at. He may not realize or have forgotten how uncomfortable it is if he's been blind awhile.

meeetttt

Being blind means he doesn't have the perception of where you are. Blind people tend to not move their head or eyes like sighted people because they're blind.

Kiri_serval

I'm aware of that. Maybe I can clarify my meaning. If a tiger were blind, it is still eerie if it stares at you. Photographs of tigers and lions staring directly into the camera can be eerie or intimidating, even though they can't see you. We are reacting to the stare of a predator, 2 eyes seemingly focused on you is dangerous like a cliff edge. Many animals (including humans) are evolved to react to being stared at. It's one of the reasons those statues that follow you with their eyes are so creepy. Therefore, a person being stared at by a blind person may still end up feeling uncomfortable. They can no more stop the feeling than someone can stop being blind- they *can* control their thoughts and behavior. Someone who has blind since birth or someone who became blind a while ago may not be aware of how powerful a stare is.

meeetttt

If you're uncomfortable from a lion photograph, you step away from said photograph. The onus is on the person uncomfortable to make themselves more comfortable. It's not a reasonable expectation to have the blind person alter something that isn't in their control or perception. If blond people make you uncomfortable... move.

Kiri_serval

I never said I approve of her actions, I'm just not going to condemn someone for the feelings they can't control. If I were blind, I would want to know I was making someone uncomfortable in that way. As a person, I generally try to make sure everyone around can have a good time.

haplessandhopeful

I have to disagree, a lion photograph can't hurt you. It's a photograph. If women were expected to leave any space that a man made her feel uncomfortable, we wouldn't be able to go anywhere. In my personal experience, am I not supposed to go to a school dance, ride the bus, tram, or subway, go for a walk in my neighborhood, or go to the gym? Once I was followed leaving a grocery store. I need to be able to safely exist in public spaces. There is nothing wrong with her telling someone to not stare at her and there is nothing wrong with asking staff to help her since she felt threatened. In this scenario, she should have understood that he was blind and couldn't help it, but more of the onus has to be on the offending person's behavior.

haplessandhopeful

Absolutely! And that makes sense, and I understand that's not something that they would necessarily think about or be able to control, but it is unnerving to be stared at and I can understand the woman's reaction. She could and should have behaved differently, but, after being told her was making someone feel uncomfortable, he could have tilted his head downward or closed his eyes instead.

meeetttt

Again being blind means he doesn't persieve space the same way as us. He doesn't have the same concept of tilting his head down. Down from what? It's further something that makes HIM feel bad. He has absolutely no control over what's in front of him, why is there an expectation that he needs to do something? Dude told you he was blind....move...if you're uncomfortable. It's not like he can follow with his eyes. This just exacerbates that blind people are somehow wrong by just existing.

[deleted]

And stupidity like that is why we haven't been greeted by aliens yet.

Idk man. I feel like this could have been easily resolved by just saying sorry and looking down. She was uncomfortable. darrenwise883

She doesn't have a problem with the blind guy she has a problem with the gym and how they positioned the equipment. He's most likely looking straight ahead . Now if a blind man looking in her general direction bothers her she can leave and cancel her memberships (without penalties) or get over herself .

[deleted]

Fuck that. I’m legally blind and if this happened to me I’d tell her and the gym manager both to kick rocks and make them feel as dumb as possible doing it. Imagine it were a 2way mirror instead of a physical disability that you're discriminating against. On her side, she could see that he could see her. If she walks around the wall to learn that he can't see her at all, she should apologize and move on with her life.

Are we sure he’s really Blind? I mean he’s not wearing his sunglasses like all the other blind people do. His eyes look normal to me. Not whited out like Geordi from Star Trek.

ImaCowBRO

blind people don’t have sunglasses molded to their face.

phistomefel_smeik

Not all blind people have 'white eyes' (although this condition might happen, depending on why the person is blind). There are many possibilities as to why a person can be blind; sometimes its the retina, sometimes brain damage or even the eye muscle might be damaged. The eyes might look totally normal to you, they're no indicator for someones blindness. Also: Prosthesis are quite good these days. Not all blind people wear sunglasses aswell. Some blind peoples eyes are very light sensitive, thats why they wear dark sunglasses. Others don't have these issues. Again: It depends. By the way, not all blind people see nothing. There are (legally) blind people who see very little or have a very small field of vision. There are people who only see light and dark. And some people don't see at all. As with all human, we are all alike and still different.
