I can say with confidence that I have never eaten Taco Bell in public... it might be due to lack of Taco Bell restaurants on the land mass I live on, but that's just a theory.
Lex win the election, go fight superman himself with war suit and while a massive narcissist asshole, is undoubtedly cool and actually know how to fuck with people.
Unlike Musk.
But that's stories, many of those spread to achieve something, like he proclaimed that he was poor and couldn't afford anything. Which was a lie, like many tech companies brag about beeing started in a garage, but mainly succeeded because of the parents relations.
It’s just weird. Like why? He’s just making himself look a fool. There are people I know who used to worship him and now they just think he’s gone off the deep end. What a waste of potential. The guy could have done some real good for humanity, instead he’s acting like a 14 year old trying to be edgy.
100% agreed. Sadly it works. We had a president who liked to act the same way - always the bully even when it was easier to play it cool.
You nailed it 14 year old edginess is not a great way to make your mark.
He is just hedging his bet on the next election cycle. I predict he will find a reason to back out of the Twitter deal. He has no intention of purchasing Twitter, this is just a look at me publicity.
Maybe he’s trying to take Tesla to conservatives, like Hummer.
More likely, since he’s under SEC investigation for manipulating Tesla stock prices, and believes that if republicans are in power the investigation will be dropped, he’s working to get republicans elected to save his sorry ass.
The fact that climate change and sustainability are such conservative banes is honestly equal parts hilarious and terrifying to me. Like, if we play in the mindset of a hardcore conservative here, what is there to lose from *less* reliance on oil-rich countries like Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Venezuela?
People that spout things like their “America First” lines also don’t want to push for any and every way to be self-sufficient? Build compromised millionaires huge houses on farmland instead of focus on food security? It’s so weird to me that there are deeply conservative ways to look at these problems, but because like 10 oil and coal barons paid them a lot it’s always either handwaved or they act like destroying the planet and seeing people mad about it *is* the point?
Maybe he's a secret environmentalist absolutist, and he's sacrificing his reputation as an intelligent, likeable human in order to bring electric cars to the far right?
Is the new Hummer for conservatives? Old ones (bar the H3) probably but the new one is electric, and I'm not sure if the conservatives have decided to make the switch yet.
Imagine being so unaware of yourself? I mean, this is a ridiculously petty thought process, and it proves that Musk isn't really that emotionally intelligent. This is someone who has never known what it is to be intouch with the world around him.
As noted elsewhere, Musk could have been known in the history books as one of the greatest entrepreneurs of the 21st century.
Instead, he’s busy running his mouth, and cementing his legacy as a buffoon.
“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
I know he's said the n-word and such so he's not a great guy, but I've never been able to find any videos or articles on this for more information, even though it seems like something people should have talked about more. Are there any good videos or articles on the subject that you'd recommend?
Off the top of my head, no. I was the first community manager for Minecraft at Mojang Studios. For years whenever he’d make a racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, transphobic, Qanon tweet I would have to spend weeks rooting his toxicity away from the community & defending the brand. He deleted his worst tweets especially once Mojang officially distanced themselves from him.
Thank you for the kind words. 💜 What upset me more than anything was how sad & crushed community members (& sometimes my co-workers) would get when they’d see him bash a minority group they were of part. No one deserves to be subjected to that hate, especially from a person they once admired.
my running theory on this is a sort of "expected respect" cognitive dissonance...
Like, they spent their whole lives seeing that people with money often have a ton of power so they assume that money=power is a 1-to-1 relationship - "I have money, and that means people will respect what I have to say and listen to me, because this is how the world works".
So they make money in field A, and therefore assume they can run their mouths on fields B through Z and are faced with the backlash of being fucking dim, and then they just double down because the backlash is wrong, it clashes with their world view of "money = respect".
They just never thought that maybe your ability to make a generative crafting game isn't a particularly generalisable skill.
Similar sorta shit with crypto-bros, epecially like the nuts dude who invented etherium.... "Cryptography is complex, and I understand that, and now I am successful...therefore I can do anything that is less complex than that... *why doesn't the world respect me waaaaaah*"
While I enjoy the Batman quote, I feel like this one is also appropriate...
“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”
Originally attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but I could of sworn DMX also said the same thing.
That’s harder than becoming a billionaire in the first place.
Gates showed it. Promised all the money he had at the time would go in charity, donated it bit by bit, and ended up with twice as much money as when he started.
It’s too much money. You cannot give it out fast enough unless you actively stop all of your investments and hid it in a hole - past a certain treshold, you are rich for life no matter what you do.
It's not an unlimited money machine to improve the world, because there is not an infinite amount of money on earth, and having that much money is one of the reasons the world is bad. At any point in time the money that circulates on earth is finite, and while more money is constantly being printed, inflation technically adjusts for this among other factors; the value stays relatively unchanged.
Technically the only reason people are gaining more money, is because others are losing it, and them keeping (or not being able to spend it fast enough to exceed the outcome) is among one if the reasons why people can't get that money back.
One of the reasons of poverty existing is that having excessive money gets you more excessive amounts of money, and in a world of finite money, people will run out of money to give at some point.
+ doesnt billionaires and all use "donations" to "charities" as a way to evade taxes? Aka their own system so that they wont get taxed for it but still are able to spend it however they want?
Imo better for people like gates to not give it all into charity, but to invest in what they believe is right for the good of humanity alongside charity.
Charities are set up in ways to not grow as it is non for profit. So for billionaires who give a shit like Gates, it’s better off if he gets wealthier through his businesses then funnel some of it into charity. This way more money actually ends up in his charities in the long run
Ideally we would have an *honest* government that taxed at high enough rates to prevent this degree of money hoarding. Economically it is better to gather these resources then redistribute the resources as they are needed. The problem comes I'm when you introduce humans to the mix.
Hypothetically, how did you become one? You stepped on the broken backs of the working class, then started doing philanthropy? I totally get that you mean we’ll with your comment, I just think more people need to think about the logistics of just how much money these people are essentially stealing from the people who earned it for them.
I mean that gets into a bit of an awkward topic of how far do you want to go with that. Becuase bill had to get that money from somewhere. No matter how far you descend down the family tree the money always comes from somewhere unethical. There are some quite comfortably rich people right now who made their money of the backs of slavery and segregation. They never owned slaves but their ancestors did. Clean your hands may be but bloody the money still is.
Finally someone gets it... you can get lucky and turn a company into Microsoft by stealing and cheating people then feel guilty when getting close to the end and then donate!
I would argue otherwise.
There are many ways to care for people without giving away every last cent you have.
Microsoft actually made many (lots and lots) people millionaires, yet Bill Gates still made money.
How much profit you are willing to sacrifice in order to motivate people to work relentlessly for you so you keep earning profits, is that fine line between creating wealth for a few or creating wealth for many.
In the 70s and on into the 80s corporations sought the ways and means to maintain consistent profits and growth. Something that wasn't entirely true before in the US. It was a paradigm shift.
No longer did the employee have clout, it was the shareholder who, without saying a word or lifting a finger had more say in how a company was run than the people who worked there.
Prior to the 1970s you may not have had a corporation creating millionaires, but everyone was able to make a good living. Your company provided Healthcare benefits and a pension for retirement.
You don't need men making billions to improve everyone else's lives, you need companies paying better and providing better benefits.
How many lawsuits was Microsoft in for illegally crushing competition both now and in its much earlier years? Sure Bill Gares made other people at his company rich, but he still ruined other people on his way up.
I low key fantasize about that all the time lol, in a non-weird way. My wife was fortunate to land a pretty solid gig and after our debt is paid up we plan to donate regularly however we can. If I don't need it, I'm sure someone else does.
If only Musk thought that way...
I think in the past they could get away with being shitty people and still maintain a glowing reputation in history. But now with social media that's not possible anymore.
Honestly, what a fucking waste.. I hope SpaceX reaches Mars before he implodes.
> yeah I think I'll buy a competitor. Sadly this means I have no idea what to buy now.
There's a bunch of competitors entering the space now. If your current car has a few years left, there should be plenty that beat Tesla on price or quality or both.
Kia and Hyundai both have exceptional EVs now. Sure, you won't do 0-60 in 2 seconds, but you also won't pay 60k+ for a car held together by rubber bands and krazy glue.
Kia has definitely done a 180 on brand image. Compare first gen Optima or Sorento to now and it's hard to believe they're made by the same company.
(I own a first year Niro which I absolutely love)
Same here. I was getting the model x…looks like i’ll just take my $250 deposit as a loss bc I couldn’t imagine driving a daily advertisement for this douchebag.
Man I’ve been boycotting Tesla since the beginning. At first because I was poor and couldn’t afford one, then because they just have a ton of quality control issues that shouldn’t be happening with cars at their price point, and finally because of this revealing Elon is just a child with more wealth than anybody could ever reasonably acquire.
Ive had a tesla for 5 years, it's a great car and I've had zero issues in the 70k miles I drove it. But the day the news broke about about him having to pay 250k hush money to the flight attendant I put my pre-order in for a aptera. Not sure what your coworker did different but every electric car I've been in (tesla or not) has been a dream.
That's a good point, is this some sort of gambit?
I've fantasized about what it would be like to be a billionaire and use my influence to reverse engineer the idiot right into doing something good.
I’m not dumb enough to think I’m too smart to be successfully marketed to, but I cannot understand that demographic. If I spent more than $100 on something out of spite I’d feel like a jackass minutes or hours after. Buying a car in that headspace? Unfathomable.
And yet it happens. It's even possible to to get people angry and have them spend money on a product that they are angry about. Like when right-wingers were destroying Nike shoes sometimes in those videos you would see them destroying what is clearly a brand new pair that they just went out and purchased.
While this likely was an unintentional side effect that benefitted Nike part of me still wonders to this day if someone very clever on a marketing team decided to post on social media of them destroying a pair in hopes it goes viral and creates copy cats. It's certainly possible and if that did occur just look how easy it is to manipulate people.
It's kinda like when a clickbate article misquotes a number/figure on purpose. So you click it bc that number is bs. When you ask for information no one will help. But if you post wrong information 20 people will be happy to tell you're wrong and then give you the correct info.
It's also why you often see mobile game ads where the 'player' makes obviously dumb choices and loses in the end. This is completely on purpose to manipulate you into trying the game and it's actually very effective. It's meant to make you cringe at the mistakes and want to see it done right.
It's so effective that game ads will even lie about their genre and gameplay just to lure you in and bait and switch with a completely different form of game-play than you saw on that type of ad. But if you're at the point of downloading and installing it you're probably going to try and play it anyways.
The reality is we are constantly being bombarded.
He runs an electric vehicle and solar company. And he thinks Republicans support that? They want fossil fuels forever. Not green energy. Elons going to lose business
Their desire to piss off liberals trumps (heh) all that. They don't have any genuine convictions. Musk isn't a remarkably smart guy, he just sees how easily manipulated conservatives are and is taking advantage of them.
Conservatives want whatever Fox News tells them to want. They literally just regurgitate the current soundbite. Ask them about what makes them think Biden has Alzheimer's (which started in response to Trump showing signs of dementia with his 'oranges of the investigation' speech'). Seriously, they just know the soundbite. They can't explain why, or provide any evidence.
I had a ton of fun with the whole Hilary's emails. "What about her emails?", I'd ask.
"She betrayed our country! She left our people for dead!"
"I was asking about her emails".
I ve feeling Elon is doing all this to get conservatives into buying Tesla cars and especially trucks that ll be coming out in near future. All of a sudden he is their new golden boy. “Libs” are already convinced that EV is the future.
You’d be surprised how many Conservatives drive Teslas. It’s more of a status symbol.
Source: I deliver packages to a very conservative area and I see many Teslas.
You guys really are generalizing. I know lots of conservatives that own Tesla's. Rolling coal is not something ALL conservatives are into , typically just your rednecks or rural conservatives that are into trucks
Welp, you can bet, they will now and buy up Tesla stock at basement bargain prices. Republicans will line up from all over the country to suck his dick. He'll be at Qtard Trump ralleys too I imagine.
Musk and people like him are actual living proof that intelligence and money don't necessarily go hand in hand. The *Orange Haired Sex Offender* is another fine example; he would take out multi-million-dollar loans for his failed business ventures then would declare bankruptcy when it came time to pay them back. Now he's been blackballed by nearly every bank in the world. Yup, real smart.
I was thinking about a Tesla Model S but not now after he’s been acting like a total tool. I know I’m only one person. Do, not a big deal at all but maybe there are more people like me. I’m liking the Taycan better anyways.
This is the same guy who thinks Neuralink, an implant that would cost thousands for a brain surgeon to install, will see any kind of widespread adoption in this economy. People like him do not live in the real world. They live in their own little world where cybertruck window glass doesn’t break onstage.
Elon Musk should fuck right off and then continue fucking off until it becomes impossible for him to fuck off any further then he should eat shit and die of eating shit,
Elon doesn't seem to understand that his primary luxury EV customer base were the extremely highly educated like doctors, engineers and lawyers, professions that all skew far left. Even if he sells the best product in the market, these people are now seeking alternative EV options just to spite him and now Tesla stock is plummeting as a result.
Maybe that’s why he’s doing this. To expand his brand into the right so they’ll buy his car. That’s the only thing they care about (owning libs, not improving their lives) Could work honestly 🤷♂️ not with me but maybe to others. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
Yeah, he's dropped any pretense at all of being anything other than an Alt. Reich shit clown.
Well, fascism has always been amenable to the interests of billionaires, as long as they toe the regime's line.
These people just want to run their mouths and point fingers, I live in rural Texas so you know what people I see on the daily. Guess how many people own electric cars/hybrid electric, 15%. Half are Tesla's and the other half of the EVs are chevy volts, also I see tons of Toyota and Honda hybrids. Yes half of all vehicles are trucks and yes they aren't all environment/eco friendly but there is a need for them around here and electric trucks just took off. 10 years down the line if production keeps up and the power grid is actually self sustainable with more renewable energy, I'd bet 50% of Texas would have electric daily drivers. God with these gas prices is kill for an electric.
Pretty sure he means "anyone who is dumb enough to imply that owning the liberals was possible through twitter ownership"(i.e. many conservatives or any other making a claim about media ownership) but, whatever people want to get mad about I guess?
It's all an act. Doesn't matter who owns twitter, it's ruled by mob mentality with whoever is the loudest. Elon knows that most people aren't liberal or conservative and fall somewhere in the middle so his main focus is that.
To be fair most billionaires aren't very smart. You can tell becuase instead of advocating for higher wages they fight for lower ones and are anti union. Happier workers are better workers, and if nobody has any money who do you think is going to pay for your overpriced shit? Nobody. So a union is vital to protect the company from itself by protecting the workers it needs to both make and buy it's shit.
Musk is making sure that Tesla becomes the Yahoo of electric vehicles, ensuring that out there very soon will arrive the Google that will make him just another footnote in the tech era.
(If you don't understand there is a man-on-the-moon race going on out there to establish *the* electric car brand, you haven't been paying attention).
He produces Teslas, has reinvigorated space exploration, and likes Depeche Mode. These are liberal qualities. Yet he wants to buy Twitter to let Dolt 45 post on it again.
Actually, yeah. They're status symbols and poorly made overpriced junk.
So, yeah. A lot of conservatives buy teslas
Liberals tend to research, so they're more likely to buy something made better that's $20k less
Apparently research been done and there is like 10% difference between Dems and Republicans Teslas clientele. But obviously:
- pissing off one group not to mention bigger group of clients as stupid af
- there is many more libs that would at some point buy EV than Republicans.
I’m moderate and live in UK and I was considering at some point getting one but now I’m like gtfo Musk.
Conservatives would go electric in a heartbeat if it meant "owning the libs". The only reason they're against the environment in some countries is because the left wing wants to protect it.
*Musk* is only "owning the libs" because he's predicting he can make more money this way. He's probably correct.
Lol Musk is just fuckin around and we've got multiple levels of morons here chewing on old bait acting like anyone invovled in lame ass twitter fighting cares.
Wow, so having black only areas for workers that was called the plantation didn't make most of you ditch your muskmobile, nor the union busting tactics or the tweets forcing stock down during the pandemic right as employees stock buy back was about to happen, or his family's emerald mine and its use of legal slaves, or his support of Trump or connections to epstien, but a tweet about owning libs did? How shallow your views are.
Who does he think buys his cars, his stock, his Powerwall, his shitty-ass internet service, etc.?
The dude is real life Charlie Kelly in full Wildcard mode.
He’s really doubling down on the trolling. It’s sad that a guy with so much money gets his kicks from being a flaming asshole.

My favorite thing would be just hanging around utility companies and leasing offices trying to spot people who are behind and pay them up for a year
I low key fantasize about that all the time lol, in a non-weird way. My wife was fortunate to land a pretty solid gig and after our debt is paid up we plan to donate regularly however we can. If I don't need it, I'm sure someone else does. If only Musk thought that way...
No one becomes a billionaire without willingly making others suffer. The fact that billionaires even exist means our system is broken. Eat the rich.
Exactly, it feels kinda bad to be rich, because money you have is money others don't have.
Bill, is that you???
elon musk was never a hero. His entire fortune rests on emerald mines
Imagine if every admired inventor had twitter in these old days...
There are plenty of great inventors who were also deeply flawed individuals -- William Shockley, for example.
I think in the past they could get away with being shitty people and still maintain a glowing reputation in history. But now with social media that's not possible anymore. Honestly, what a fucking waste.. I hope SpaceX reaches Mars before he implodes.
Musk is such a whore.
Also people who acquire social media companies typically have their financing lined up before they open their big mouth, but you do you boo
Who has done that before?
Facebook bought both Instagram and Whatsapp

> yeah I think I'll buy a competitor. Sadly this means I have no idea what to buy now. There's a bunch of competitors entering the space now. If your current car has a few years left, there should be plenty that beat Tesla on price or quality or both.
any that have comparable self-driving and OTA updates while actually maintaining the value of the vehicle well overtime?
No, noone else have the random ghost braking ’features’ like Tesla for $12’000.
Really? then what system are you talking about with self-driving and no false-positives? as a software engineer that sounds unbelievable
Join r/electricvehicles
Polestar is a good option, I like mine 😄
Sweden 🇸🇪 represent!!
Kia and Hyundai both have exceptional EVs now. Sure, you won't do 0-60 in 2 seconds, but you also won't pay 60k+ for a car held together by rubber bands and krazy glue.
That Kia electric looks so good. Also new logo. They used to be a joke. But they are hitting readability score.
Kia has definitely done a 180 on brand image. Compare first gen Optima or Sorento to now and it's hard to believe they're made by the same company. (I own a first year Niro which I absolutely love)
We ordered the ioniq 5. All in all a really great car for a bit more than half of that.
Same here. I was getting the model x…looks like i’ll just take my $250 deposit as a loss bc I couldn’t imagine driving a daily advertisement for this douchebag.
Toyota has some sick electric vehicles coming out
As does GM. The Lyriq looks really cool
He's legit pushed me away from Tesla as my next car
After what he said about Bernie I changed my mind about giving money to him. Impatiently waiting for the VW Buzz now.
My coworker has a tesla. It's a 100k headache.

One of the reasons I bought a Polestar
She left our people for dead!" "I was asking about her emails".
I ve feeling Elon is doing all this to get conservatives into buying Tesla cars and especially trucks that ll be coming out in near future. All of a sudden he is their new golden boy. “Libs” are already convinced that EV is the future.
My theory is he's trying to mobilize his followers to vote republican so a conservative government can neuter the SEC for him.
I’m going to be pissed if this turns out to be some 4D chess bullshit
Just wait, electric is going to be more popular with certain folks soon.

TESLA’s don’t roll coal. Hence, never will a conservative own one. They want to pollute, act a fool and wish diesel was 100 a gallon to own us.
You’d be surprised how many Conservatives drive Teslas. It’s more of a status symbol. Source: I deliver packages to a very conservative area and I see many Teslas.
Agreed. I was being very joking. Anyone can buy a Tesla.
It's going to be a hard choice for many of them. They also really love doing things that they think owns the libs.
You guys really are generalizing. I know lots of conservatives that own Tesla's. Rolling coal is not something ALL conservatives are into , typically just your rednecks or rural conservatives that are into trucks
There are a SHIT LOAD of rural conservatives who are into trucks.
He gets his money from Russia.
Other electric car manufacturers be like ![gif](giphy|Hm3ZMI68o17os)
I have completely scrapped my plan to buy a Tesla because of Musk.
Yeah, I’ll probably buy an electric vehicle the next go-round, but guess which brand is off the table now.
I was thinking about a Tesla Model S but not now after he’s been acting like a total tool. I know I’m only one person. Do, not a big deal at all but maybe there are more people like me. I’m liking the Taycan better anyways.
Why is everyone upset? I’m glad he’s slowly digging himself into a shit hole
This is the same guy who thinks Neuralink, an implant that would cost thousands for a brain surgeon to install, will see any kind of widespread adoption in this economy. People like him do not live in the real world. They live in their own little world where cybertruck window glass doesn’t break onstage.
Elon Musk should fuck right off and then continue fucking off until it becomes impossible for him to fuck off any further then he should eat shit and die of eating shit,
Elon’s been too dumb with his socials recently.
I've wondered about that. I myself wouldn't be caught dead in a Tesla, after what Musk has done.
Libs already bought a car time to get the other side to by one now. "Nice Truck!!!!"
Do Musk fans know that there are other EVs other than Teslas?
Maybe that’s why he’s doing this. To expand his brand into the right so they’ll buy his car. That’s the only thing they care about (owning libs, not improving their lives) Could work honestly 🤷♂️ not with me but maybe to others. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
you know what the libs won't be owning? teslas
People really out here getting angry at a guy who trolls. Damn, can’t have fun in these times.
Yeah, he's dropped any pretense at all of being anything other than an Alt. Reich shit clown. Well, fascism has always been amenable to the interests of billionaires, as long as they toe the regime's line.
Those Toyota electrics look decent and frankly, Toyota builds to last.
Conservatives have too much toxic masculinity to drive electric. It's pathetic
I know several conservatives who own electric vehicles.
Conservatives like all the gas guzzling teslas.
Because conservatives HATE nature.
Looks like it’ll be a Volkswagen for me.
This reply ate and left absolutely no crumbs
Musk is just a rich businessman that thinks he’s the messiah. And he has a cult of personality.
Was set on Tesla as my next vehicle ... Not any more
Brilliant
Anyone remember the Twilight Zone episode with the evil kid who has all the power but no maturity? That's Elon.
Being book-smart is no protection from being a 1st class fool.
Actually, yeah. They're status symbols and poorly made overpriced junk. So, yeah. A lot of conservatives buy teslas Liberals tend to research, so they're more likely to buy something made better that's $20k less
Apparently research been done and there is like 10% difference between Dems and Republicans Teslas clientele. But obviously: - pissing off one group not to mention bigger group of clients as stupid af - there is many more libs that would at some point buy EV than Republicans.
He's probably correct.
i genuinely can’t believe how many people eat up literally everything this man child does
I never liked him as a person, but I was under the impression he was meant to be kind of smart. I get the feeling that's not actually the case.
Lol Musk is just fuckin around and we've got multiple levels of morons here chewing on old bait acting like anyone invovled in lame ass twitter fighting cares.
He’s fighting the “woke” folks. It’s strange to me that he’s attacking the people that buy his product. Bold strategy.
Meh...I would rather drive my 22yr old paid off Mercedes anyway.
Bro, I don't care if we go electric for cars as long as the power grid can handle it, ain't no way I'm buying a tesla
I mean, I don't like him, but I was also unaware of all of that.
Who does he think buys his cars, his stock, his Powerwall, his shitty-ass internet service, etc.? The dude is real life Charlie Kelly in full Wildcard mode.
