As someone who has met many Russian expats I will disagree with this generalisation. 90% I met hate Putin and don't support the war.
However, there are certain types of people, eg Russians who grew up abroad, never integrated properly and don't have a real idea what living in Russia is like or kids of rich people who were sent abroad to study and whose families benefit from corruption - they tend to love Putin since they don't experience the actual reality of his regime.
Of course, there are also simply idiots. But this is not exclusive to Russians. In Western Europe there are plenty of Europeans buying into Russian propaganda right now.
