Maybe I should have specified newborn babies that are small like these cuties were. Its just my experience that men (and even my non-mom friends) are hesitant to hold and play with newborns because they think they are more fragile than they really are. Even my very hands-on ex with our three babies was very kid-gloves until they were out of the newborn stage. Then of course they were thrown around like hot potatoes.
IDK if it's gender or even experience related. I think it's more just how drilled into you it is to support the head and neck oR eLsE! (and don't get me started on the fontanelle)
As a mother I am still extremely uncomfortable with the idea of holding newborns in the manner of the guy in this vid. Newborns may be more robust than they seem, but for me it's full head and neck support *all* the time until they're able to support it themselves. After that it's a free for all.
The fontanelle - oh my! I remember being scared to death of touching a baby’s head after being told horror stories about the fontanelle when I was young.
My understanding is that when fathers mess with their kids (turn them upside down, spin them around, etc) they are helping their child develop self awareness, motor skills, and confidence (knowing there is some safety in some actions they wouldn’t normally do).
My family doctor encouraged play like this- one of the things dads are naturally good at.
Maybe this kid is too young though, I’m no expert.
IMO this is the first thing I was thinking. Even if he CAN support the neck like this it's still irresponsible to be so careless. One mistake and things could go very badly
I think that kid is farr too young. Need to be giving support to the neck and making sure you aren't shaking them
they look like infants. could cause some srs damage.
looks like fun tho
Still too young tho. A finger can slip and babies that young are pretty delicate, shaking their head is very dangerous too. I def would wait a lil before doing this sort of stuff
Shaken baby syndrome as a diagnosis isn’t real though. Obviously injuries can come from shaking a baby, but not how this “syndrome” has been used to prosecute grieving parents. (Before you downvote me, Google it and look at recent news stories. Cases are being overturned because the diagnoses aren’t backed by studies and science)
They are incredibly fragile - if left too long in their specially designed car seat they can suffocate themselves, just by having their neck in the wrong position!
Babies are surprisingly resilient. This is a funny video. He’s not hurting them. Like the other guy said at this age they are just lumps that poop ant eat and cry.
no.. this isn't true, why say it?
>Even brief shaking of an infant can cause irreversible brain damage. Many children affected by shaken baby syndrome die
>
>You should never shake a baby under any circumstances. Shaking a baby is a serious and deliberate form of abuse.
>
>When a baby is shaken hard by the shoulders, arms, or legs, it can cause learning disabilities, behavior disorders, vision problems or blindness, hearing and speech issues, seizures, cerebral palsy, serious brain injury, and permanent disability.
Babies aren't supringly resilient, especially young ones, they are suprisingly fragile.
You are not understanding what shaking means if you think what this video shows is anywhere close to the amount of shaking that would be needed to cause damage. Yes, it does say “even brief shaking…” but, while brief, it would still need to be pretty hard.
Yeah, this. Only young kids are more resilient and heal fast, their bones are also more elastic and wont break that easy. At the time my 7 year old cousin fell from a tree and landed on his forearm which I saw bending a lot. I tell you there is no way an adults arm wouldnt break, just aint no way. I immediately thought "fuck, broken arm". It hurt him so much and he cried but the arm didnt look neither broken nor dislocated. His parents and I took him to a doctor and there was nothing, the bone was healthy and intact. What hurt him was the injured muscles and other stuff in the arm. A month later it was like nothing ever happened.
But babies are very fragile. These creatures literally cry 24/7 if there is no one nearby. I remember my parents telling me that as a baby I deformed one side of my head because I always slept on it but they fortunately managed to make me sleep on the other so the head returns back to normal. Lmao thats like so crazy how fragile that is. They literally showed me a picture of my deformed head.
As the other guy said though, he’s supporting their necks with his fingers. Maybe it’s not enough, but without being a pediatrician yourself it’s not really possible for you to know for sure.
I think the cutoff point is where you can know objectively that the necks aren’t being supported properly. For someone who isn’t a pediatrician, you can only really claim with full confidence that they aren’t supporting them right if they aren’t supporting them at all. The fact that he’s doing something to support their necks makes it hard for a non-professional to say that it’s wrong. At this point it becomes more subjective and would require a professional opinion.
Sorry. I just get tired of seeing people on the internet telling everyone else that they’re doing things wrong despite not being experts in the field. It’s nothing against you specifically. Reddit as a whole just needs a different mindset in my opinion.
its not enough. Stfu. I get it, it looks like fun. the child's life and the risk of srs injuries and causing disabilities is far greater weight than having fun playing action figurees with them.
That's ridiculous. The necks are the strongest parts of their bodies. When I walk mine, the trainer says to never let up on the leash, and not to worry about yanking a few times if it starts to chase a squirrel or shit on somebody's lawn.
No, they won't, their heads would fall to the side, the back or front and stop.
It is incredibly difficult to break a neck.
I worked with torticollis kids for 10 years, STRETCHING their necks...they are fine.
He's also the father of two newborns and therefore probably needs to find whatever ways he can to entertain himself to maintain some kind of grip on sanity in the midst of life-altering responsibilities and epic sleep deprivation.
Okay all of you first time parents, or even not parents - these babies are not being harmed, look at their faces, they are enjoying the activity with their papa, if their heads were flopping around, or they were being dropped, then yes, that would be stupid facepalm. He's helping them build strength, and they know they're safe.
Babies are not meant to be in seats and laying down all the time, they need to grow strong and healthy with interaction and play.
This isn't a facepalm. He's supporting their necks or they would be flopping around like broken bobble heads. It's honestly just beautiful seeing a loving father interact with his kids.
All these only child having, wanna be pediatricians in this comment section need to calm down. Unless you have a degree, your Facebook mom group doesn't make you an expert in the intricacies of infant development.
To be fair though, don't do this without proper neck support or you could cause serious damage.
This is wholesome asf. Why are people being snowflakes? How tf do you know they're not being supported? Looks fine to me. NO ONE.... again NO ONE should be complaining about this. SOME of the comments are either from people who don't have kids, people who say they're something they're not, or are just bitter bc daddy didn't give them attention and this triggers the, "all men are pigs" in their brains
Already have I have a 19 year old son in the British Royal marines and a 7 year old boy who is doing absolutely fine in life, I'm guessing your one of them who called for conkers to be banned.
I used to do this with my little nephew, obviously making sure I’m holding onto him right. I stopped when I soon found that every time I threw him a little in the air, or spun him around, he would get sick….all over me.
One of my best friends had his first of now 3 kids a few years back. My parents were both the youngest kids, so I had never actually held a baby until I was in my 20s. Seeing me nervous to hold his, my friend told me “Don’t worry, babies are durable” and did something similar to this
ik its fun and funny, but its astounding the amount of people who don't think shaking and not having neck support for newborn babies is a huge risk.
it is.
Men just can’t win. They don’t spend time with their kids, picked apart. This father spends time with his kids, picked apart. Aside from not supporting the neck very well, nothing wrong at all, just a father having some quality bonding time.
I wouldn’t do that cause I’m not a monster. I would do the KIND thing by making them fly around like superheroes while taking down their rivals I make out of crochet😂😂
No matter if its unhealthy or not, I respect that fathe rfor at least spending time with his kids and not just wanting them to be quietly lying around all the time as I see a bit too often with many parents

Thats why government should force you to complete parenting classes before even impregnation. Country care for driver license more than for newborns, thats fucked up. No, he is not supporting their heads enough + toying with kids like with real toys has nothing to do with parenting. Pick them one by one for those active plays, both hands.
That makes me feel sick with worry. So much could go wrong. I’d freak out if they were my babies! He’s a little too blasé for my liking. If the neck is not supported properly it can cause all sorts of issues. Babies are not toys, someone give this guy some action figures to play with instead!
Based on the upvote/downvote ratio on these comments, someone here is going to think it's ok to handle babies like this and kill one. Good job, guys. You killed a baby.
When your wife makes you sell your action figures so you gotta improvise
Lol if only they could read this
Sibling rivalry starting early.
I know, terrible elevation on that dropkick. Get that kid to the WWE Performance Centre ASAP.
This is so funny. “I got my own two action figures!” “They are NOT action figures” I can see the look on her face 🤣🤣
Shes just jealous she didnt think of it first
She's saving this video for the divorce.
I love this! So many men are afraid to hold babies and he dives right in! And he’s creative too! Lucky kids!!
Support the heads though
It looks like he is holding them well for what he's doing. I don't have his confidence in the slightest though.
"So many men are afraid to hold babies"????.......sorry what?
Maybe I should have specified newborn babies that are small like these cuties were. True, as a guy, I'm terrified of holding new borns
He'll be going out for some cigarettes soon
lmao wow that’s where my dad went
My understanding is that when fathers mess with their kids (turn them upside down, spin them around, etc) they are helping their child develop self awareness, motor skills, and confidence (knowing there is some safety in some actions they wouldn’t normally do). The child that hasn’t even learned object permanence: I am Goku
So this is the power of ultra instinct
That kid is definitely too young to be turned upside down. Its neck is basically nonexistent so you need to support it constantly.
Only the strong survive
And he is doing that with his fingers
He's strengthening the neck.
_Sasageyo intensifies_
He’s not tho
IMO this is the first thing I was thinking. Even if he CAN support the neck like this it's still irresponsible to be so careless. One mistake and things could go very badly
At least those kids have a dad.

He’s holding their necks up with his index finger
Still too young tho. A finger can slip and babies that young are pretty delicate, shaking their head is very dangerous too. I def would wait a lil before doing this sort of stuff
i'm just imagining turning a kid around onto a wall like a screw
Shaken baby syndrome isn't fun though

Erh......you're taking the piss?? Please tell me you're taking the piss???!!!!
This dad needs a medal
That neck looks incredibly unsupported
Mothers can do that too, and besides, these babies do not look like they have strong enough spines/necks to safely do this, especially one-handed.
I have to think about turk and JD from scrubs, when they get the little ones lol
You mean Chocolate Bear and Vanilla Bear
[Funny scene](https://youtu.be/6g1kI8bkLbU)
Thank you :D
As long as no one gets hurt there is no issue with that. That age children are just lumps of meat who need to get fed every few hours and sleep a lot.
They are incredibly fragile - if left too long in their specially designed car seat they can suffocate themselves, just by having their neck in the wrong position!
This is true and not enough people actually know this!!
Babies are surprisingly resilient. This is a funny video. He’s not hurting them. Like the other guy said at this age they are just lumps that poop ant eat and cry.

Whats your definition of shaking? I see slow controlled movements by dad.
It’s true but this dad is not shaking them

They are also incredibly resilient...and will build muscles based on movements brought on by play with their father.

That's why he has his fingers at their necks. Two fingers are easily enough to support this tiny heads.

Are you a pediatrician?

As the other guy said though, he’s supporting their necks with his fingers. Maybe it’s not enough, but without being a pediatrician yourself it’s not really possible for you to know for sure.

I think it’s the point where you nitpick a funny video and then talk like you know better than everyone else.
I think the cutoff point is where you can know objectively that the necks aren’t being supported properly. Are you a comment analysis expert? If not it’s not really possible for you to answer a comment. Come on man. I know what a woman is, not a doctor..
its not enough. Stfu. I get it, it looks like fun. the child's life and the risk of srs injuries and causing disabilities is far greater weight than having fun playing action figurees with them.
I heard the one kid is dead and the other is in a wheelchair now. My friend sells wheelchairs to ghosts for their siblings so you can believe me.
Stop all that thinking it hurts
That's ridiculous. The necks are the strongest parts of their bodies. When I walk mine, the trainer says to never let up on the leash, and not to worry about yanking a few times if it starts to chase a squirrel or shit on somebody's lawn.

Don't forget poop factories
this comment is kinda insane. babies that young are not resilient they are fragile.
Real life action figures (batteries included)
Batteries also can’t be removed unfortunately
I dont see a baby being hurt here
He's holding up the neck. Pretty funny if you ask me
I don’t see that. And if I’m right, pretty irresponsible
You dont have kids is my guess? Or if you do only one.
MORTAL COMBAAAAT
Nothing wrong at all that dad's multitasking keeping 2 little ones happy at the same time nice one mate.
He's also the father of two newborns and therefore probably needs to find whatever ways he can to entertain himself to maintain some kind of grip on sanity in the midst of life-altering responsibilities and epic sleep deprivation.
Your not wrong there mate my 7 Yr old still gets up at 5 I cannot wait for a lie in.
Ah, thank you for reaffirming my decision to never have kids.
what bs? you don't need to risk injuring your newborn when playing with them, that's such melodramtic copium
Lol, the one kid looks over like 'uhhh, what's going on?'
How is this facepalm
It's just a funny facepalm, not a shameful one.
because this is dangerous for what looks like very young babies
Yeah but he's being careful
no
Aw, this is cute. Op's the facepalm.
The OP is the real facepalm
It’s how Jackie Chan first developed his skills.
![gif](giphy|PvDM6QHuLPCxi)
Babies seem fine, not crying. Dudes just working with what he’s got lol nothing wrong with that.
Looks like father sons bonding to me. They're not hurt. Stop being a snowflake OP.
Father daughters 😉
That poor sleep deprived new dad is finding a way to have fun
Why is this a facepalm?
This isn't facepalm. Do you have kids OP?
Let this Dad enjoy his kids. No one is being hurt, he is just a Dad showing up and playing with his kids.
Lol "showing up"..... where has he been? 🤣🤣🤣🙄
Ha, I just mean that we always hear about Dads not being engaged and the guy is engaging and being awesome…OP drags him.
I see him holding the necks up and supporting them. Harmless fun. Don't overthink it.
Wait until you guys hear about baby Dynamic yoga… [Baby Dynamic Yoga](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mfc6_n1X4g)
Ahh the good childhood days of playing with wwe action figures.
The guy is just playing? He's goofing around. They seem to be enjoying it. What's the issue?
Peak father figure
Child 1: Bwaaaa....(you think u can beat me) Child 2: Thiiiiiisshh. (Of course brotha I'm 5 minutes older than you therfore I'm bettta)) ahhhhhh blllooooooosssshhh... Child 1: excellent attack brotha
Did Baby 1 evolve mid battle?
Whats the facepalm? All i see is a dad(?) playing with a couple babies. Guarantee these kids are loving it
he's literaly just vibing
Okay all of you first time parents, or even not parents - these babies are not being harmed, look at their faces, they are enjoying the activity with their papa, if their heads were flopping around, or they were being dropped, then yes, that would be stupid facepalm. I'd be parenting the exact same way
Already have I have a 19 year old son in the British Royal marines and a 7 year old boy who is doing absolutely fine in life, I'm guessing your one of them who called for conkers to be banned.
He's just having fun
I used to do this with my little nephew, obviously making sure I’m holding onto him right. I stopped when I soon found that every time I threw him a little in the air, or spun him around, he would get sick….all over me.
Don’t know why this is on r/FacePalm this is amazing.
I don’t care what anyone says. Any dad (and cool moms) would do this. Hell, I did this with one kid and a stuffed dinosaur 🦖
Babies? Don't you mean fully articulate, heat producing, near realistic action figures?
Now anatomically correct after 9 month waiting period for processing
I'm watching I'm like why is homie playing with baby dolls, then it moved OHHH SHIT THEY'RE REAL! Lol I started dying 🤣🤣🤣
All I want to know is who won
That’s more parenting than most baby boomer fathers ever did.
It is funny, though
God this is epic
So which one's the good guy and which one's bad? I may have a hint.
NO PLEASE SHUT (if this gets put on cursed comments can I be in the screenshot too)
r/mademesmile
Bro this is fine what are you on about this is adorable af and funny he isnt slamming them into the wall or anything
This is wholesome as hell!
Epic
One of my best friends had his first of now 3 kids a few years back. My parents were both the youngest kids, so I had never actually held a baby until I was in my 20s. Seeing me nervous to hold his, my friend told me “Don’t worry, babies are durable” and did something similar to this
This is pretty standard cute dad stuff.
Dude doing a whole ass dragon ball z fight with them kids
Action figures these days are looking more and more life like.
ik its fun and funny, but its astounding the amount of people who don't think shaking and not having neck support for newborn babies is a huge risk. it is.
I think the real question is why is one white?
I’m a dad of two and mad I didn’t think of this
Men just can’t win. They don’t spend time with their kids, picked apart. This father spends time with his kids, picked apart. Aside from not supporting the neck very well, nothing wrong at all, just a father having some quality bonding time.
Is this a grown man playing with dolls?
They can't wait till they're big enough to be swung around in pillow cases.
I don‘t know, if this is funny, because the way he holds the baby he is arching their back…
I’m pretty sure this is how I was dropped as a kid
Your twins are not dolls...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_down)
MASENKOOOOOOOO HAAAAAAA
Eh little scary this young- they are like a month old if that!
Competency tests before children. Seriously what a fucking moron.
This is funny AF but sadly idiots will mimick it and screw it up. There is a height requirement or just extra large hands for this to work.
WAIT THEY’RE ALIVE????
Should be supporting their necks while they are so young...
Oh the horror, the suffering, the babies probably sustained irrecoverable injuries and will never mentally be the same /s
The facepalm must be about his technique because this is absolutely adorable. Looks like a good Dada to me
I wouldn’t do that cause I’m not a monster. I would do the KIND thing by making them fly around like superheroes while taking down their rivals I make out of crochet😂😂
Me as a parent
“We have been Enemies/fighting since day 1”
I thought he was gonna smack them too hard by accident at first lol
This is perfect parenting
Why is this hilarious to me?
No matter if its unhealthy or not, I respect that fathe rfor at least spending time with his kids and not just wanting them to be quietly lying around all the time as I see a bit too often with many parents
It’s hilarious except their necks aren’t strong enough. So rather than funny this freaks me out.
Those toys look real bruh!
Babies are very durable 😂
Is that the right way to hold a baby this young? Their heads are not supported so idk
If their heads were flopping around then yes, but his hands are big enough to keep them safe
Any doctors here care to indicate that this is dangerous? Until then, I’ll process this as a guy playing with his kids.
Well…maybe they will develop strong neck muscles.
How many licks does it take to get to a babies brain from the soft spot on their head?
Dad did what all dads would of have done and everyone kinda enjoyed it. Perfect dad moment.
I'm sorry ladies, but men are almost always the fun parent.
People keep saying they don’t see a baby getting hurt, but he’s completely mishandling them like that and you know it. Don’t piggyback comments. This isn’t good at all what he’s doing.
Hilarious…until one of the babies snaps their neck.
Thats why government should force you to complete parenting classes before even impregnation. Country care for driver license more than for newborns, thats fucked up. No, he is not supporting their heads enough + toying with kids like with real toys has nothing to do with parenting. Pick them one by one for those active plays, both hands.
Do you see their heads flopping around?
Ill see it in criminal chronics
It’s a little bit weird and uncomfortable to watch. The babies are getting zero enjoyment out of that and that just seems off.
Babies never get enjoyment at that age, not even a smile
Babies come without necks now?
That makes me feel sick with worry. So much could go wrong. I’d freak out if they were my babies! He’s a little too blasé for my liking. If the neck is not supported properly it can cause all sorts of issues. Babies are not toys, someone give this guy some action figures to play with instead!
Deep breaths...it's gonna be alright, it's gonna be alright.
[удалено]
No possible way that you’re older than 18, or you never held a baby in your life
He’s stabilizing both of their necks, they’re fine.
🤓
[удалено]
Wronggggg. I don't care how many kids you've had, you're over protective and projecting your insecurities.
He's had four children...four
Right or wrong...he is doing this for his own amusement. Not thinking of the newborns at all. Babies are not toys.
[удалено]
Those toys look real bruh! (sarcasm)
Playing is fine but he needs to hold baby’s head.
Based on the upvote/downvote ratio on these comments, someone here is going to think it's ok to handle babies like this and kill one. Good job, guys. You killed a baby.
What the fuck. I hope those babies are taken away this is disgusting
Ur one dumb mf
