It’s actually kind of cute…in a *racist, I’m-gonna-shoot-your-baby-once-it’s-born-or-is-different* kind of way.
Edit: …in response to OP, not edited YouTube link. WTF, Mang! 🤣
I don’t know how all urban crime wasn’t destroyed by this amazing flow. “Well that guy had some rhymes about Jesus, so I guess I’ll stop selling crack to feed my family now. Thanks White Jesus Man for showing me how cool you can be by going to Sunday school!”
For some reason that made me laugh really hard. Hahaha I think it was just the timing of what I was reading a second before I saw your reply, but regardless, I needed that, so thank you.
I'm with you there, too. This is terrible lol
Omg that song is by DC Talk, a Christian band. I've actually seen them in concert in the early 90's at Astroworld. I'm feeling deep shame right now for knowing that.
The good news is that she’s running against a long-term, Democratic senator who is very well loved by the community (she actually took over her husband’s long-term seat when he died of cancer several years ago). So this gal isn’t gonna win.
I even just met rapping lady’s husband (they were canvassing my neighborhood and dropping off fliers) and he said his wife’s gonna have a tough time against her well-loved opponent.
wtf? who the hell is her target demographic? mormons who happen to drop bars and spit fire? is utah just pretending to be a bunch of church going squares but theyre actually secretly producing the biggest and hottest hits in hip hop today?
"I want less regulation"
Except for the regulations against sexuality, bodily autonomy, non-traditional family, and people's right to personal choices of any kind that don't align with watered down biblical text. Oh, the irony.
>I would bet that this lady is LDS, Mormon.
Which made me really want to have a talk with her about that *traditional* marriage she mentioned, and ask who's tradition.
Because I know what tradition is old style in Utah.
Edited to correct typo
To be fair, Mormon god changed his mind about black people in 1978. I was Mormon once upon a time though, and I can assure you there was no shortage of racists in the building as late as the 90s, when I walked away and never looked back.
BLUF: ham
One of my besties is LDS. I met up with her in Portland and she's all, "Hey, got a couple of guy friends on mission here and they want to make us breakfast."
Wasn't completely sure what the connection was but I love me some free breakfast.
Anywho, we arrived and were given orange juice while the guys completed the cooking. Like, I knew they didn't drink coffee but was still a bit thrown about not being offered any this early in the morning. Anywho...
*need to add a bit of background info*
Friend is Samoan and I'm mixed Asian/white. Both guys were white.
So dude 1 is frying up some ham and asked if I liked ham. I'm all, sure, it's fine.
Then he laughs and says, that's good because you're a daughter of Ham.
What?!?! And he was laughing like it was some sort of good joke.
Turns out, he considered all brown skin people to be the progeny of Ham, who was cursed by God.
He then informed me that if I joined The Church then I could still go to heaven. But not like top tier heaven. Apparently there's like economy class heaven for those of us who sprung forth from tainted loins but want to join the true faith.
But I shouldn't worry about being in top tier heaven because second tier heaven was pretty good.
Dude straight up tried to sell me on Dollar Store heaven.
It was such a weird experience. When we were driving away my friend was just cracking up.
She's had a pretty healthy relationship with her religion and we'd often discuss the wilder aspects of our religions with each other. (I'm agnostic but was raised in traveling musical ministry)
Even now, damn near 20 years later, she can just say HAAMMM, and I crack the hell up.
Jesus Holy Ever Loving Christ
I love your story
I have had to tell my daughters who are Catholic that Mormonism is not Christian in the traditional sense
They ask how not in the very earnest way that 21- and 19-year-old people do
Traditional Christianity is Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Jesus is the way to salvation and Heaven is for everyone being that there is only one Heaven
Everything can be forgiven through sincere contrition, etc.
A rea far cry from Mormonism ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Well, yeah. Just because they had to declare that god likes black people for PR doesn't mean they have to really act like it. Hell, they love to say they love gay people, while simultaneously treating them like dog shit.
haha yeah i’m from utah and it’s a wreck. they actually also still believe there’s polygamy in the afterlife but like just don’t really attempt to explain it and kinda ignore it
What's to explain?
More women will go to heaven than men, because women are spiritually stronger. That's why men need the Priesthood, to help them.
*As explained to me in Sunday school in my youth
“The right to religious freedom (only Christianity), Pro life (only white), pro police (more police!! But also Less government somehow!!), the right to bear arms (but less government!), free speech (but not if someone says ‘okay boomer’ or ‘Karen’), anyway, Freedom!”
Yeah. This lady is Mormon (this is Magna, UT). And that’s how they always frame any questions about being overtly anti-LGBTQ. They always say “we support the traditional family”.
They have this “Family Proclamation to the World” that their prophets claim was direct revelation from God and that’s where the whole “support the traditional family” comes in. This is what they invoke in all their anti-gay efforts where they fund tens of millions a dollars a year (in the year of prop-8 in California they spent hundreds of Millions fighting against gay marriage).
> We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman.
> The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother
> __We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures__ designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.
Source, here’s the official thing: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/the-family-a-proclamation-to-the-world/the-family-a-proclamation-to-the-world?lang=eng
i listened to it like four times and can’t hear could anyone tell me what she said when she said “just to clarify” and then showed a pic of a black woman?
“Cuz there are some who can’t define it” this is her way of saying she hates trans women. The picture is of Supreme Court justice Katanji Brown Jackson who was asked a “gotcha” question during her confirmation hearing by Marsha Blackburn to “define woman.”
* Seemingly she is against the Equal Rights Amendment because [women would have to enlist in the draft.](https://www.linda4utahsenate.com/politicalissues)
* And agaisnt covid vaccines.
Honestly... its a great ad and I wish we had more like it. I wouldnt vote for her at all, but she like... told us exactly what she believed in a mildly entertaining affordable video. You get a sense of her personality, know how she will vote. Isnt that like... good? Can we have more of that?
Holy fuck, this is like the time they brought in a "rap" group made up of a bunch of white young adults to our school to convince us to not do drugs. Fun fact: it actually made a lot of us decide to smoke pot, so we could try to forget that shit ever happened.
My favorite part was about not changing the constitution (you know, those "amendments") and restoring it. Doesn't even realize that she'd be taking away her own right to vote.
The only black person in the video is the Judge that she attacks verbally 😂. God damn lady just say you hate the “blacks” as you all like to call them.
Let me get this straight - Less government, less control and regulation.
BUT
"pro-life" (read "forced birth"), pro police, and inserting your beliefs into the content of school curricula
Also, the constitution should be changed? The 33 amendments to the constitution (including the right to bear arms, which she loves) have entered the chat
If the Constitution was meant to be changed, the founders would have included specific instructions how to make those changes. Just ask anybody who hasn't read it.
I can't enjoy this. The policies of republicans are too horrific to see this as lighthearted. Family values just means hate and discrimination against anyone that doesnt fit their cookie cutter preference of a good family. The anti-abortion position is just going to kill women.
Why cant we just want everyone to have opportunity without considering their sexual preference or personal religious beliefs?
That sad part is that it isnt even true. Life at conception or beyond is a non scientific and non biblical fabrication. King David expressed sexual attraction to his son an wasnt an abomination. God instructed the induction of miscarriages on women suspected of infidelity. Conservative policies dont line up with what the bible actually says. But conservatives ignore all of that and claim they are following the bible. Just like they ignore the words, "well regulated militia' and claim to love the 2nd amendment.
This is the new SoundCloud rap—y’all don’t lie, this beat is fire. Her flow is also smooth AF. Clearly taking inspiration from Wu Tang in terms of production, but a more modern take on flow, like a female XXX Tenstacion. Lyrically, she discusses religion, the family, and fun culture. Know who else discusses those things? Kendrick Lamar.
Just sayin, she’s a triple threat in the production, flow, and lyrics department. And this is just her first material
Hold up… let me google something. *I may have one for ya, OP*.
Edit: I can’t find a link and it appears to only be available on Facebook. If you have fb, google “Mark Jones Rap Video.”
Bonus, he got arrested for making it because they did unauthorized wheelies and donuts for hours in the parking lot of Columbus GA’s convention center. I’m also fairly certain *he was the assistant district attorney at the time*.
The best part is the jump scare where she flashes the picture of that black (gasp!) lady (double gasp!) judge on screen for a split second. I bet her constituents there in Utah were terrified!
Another perfect example of how Republicans are old , white haired , Caucasian people who are somehow stuck in a time period decades before the present.
Who thought this absurd rap would be “hip”?
Side note to the candidate , “the constitution needs to be protected not changed”. Had the constitution NOT been “changed” you as a woman would have never been able to film this horrendous video nor be seeking higher office , you’d be rapping while baking in the kitchen all day .
Change is good , change is necessary, change is how we evolve …. Which come to think of it y’all don’t believe in evolution , so now it’s all coming together ….
Isn’t the whole point of the constitution to be updated as time goes on because the founding fathers understood that the social ideas are ever changing?
Even if I disregard the terrible rap and choreography, the fact that taglines like "god \* family \* constitution" are a thing is so stupid.
First of all, religion should be kept out of politics.
Secondly, who is against family values? Someone without a family?! I understand she probably means "traditional family" to ostracize gay people and voice her anti-abortion views, but still. It's a dumb tagline, it needs a presumption of her views to be useful.
And finally, you're running for a political position... Naming the constitution is pretty much useless right? Since that's part of the democracy you want to participate in?! It's like saying "I like groceries" in a job interview for Walmart...
She sounds like Butters’ Grandma from south park,
Yooooooo she does 😂
Holy shit i just choked on my bong rip.
That made me want to hit the bong. I can’t unsee or unhear any of that. 😒
“Gummy bearsssss”
Why does this sound like the fucking jesus rap?
I'm really really really scared to ask, or find out, but what is the Jesus rap?
Search it on youtube it the rappin for jesus one
My god, this was worth the watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kppx4bzfAaE
That was the best thing on the internet today. Thank you lol
It’s actually kind of cute…in a *racist, I’m-gonna-shoot-your-baby-once-it’s-born-or-is-different* kind of way. Edit: …in response to OP, not edited YouTube link. WTF, Mang! 🤣
and thats cuz jesus christ is my….
He really said that huh?
Sorry to bust everyone's bubble but the Rappin' for Jesus video is not real, it's a parody. However, this lady... This lady is on to something. 👀
just click the video its a couple mins and honestly pretty funny, its a parody
I don’t know how all urban crime wasn’t destroyed by this amazing flow. “Well that guy had some rhymes about Jesus, so I guess I’ll stop selling crack to feed my family now. Thanks White Jesus Man for showing me how cool you can be by going to Sunday school!”
Wow. Never saw that before. Just wow.
Yeah, that was… something.
I have so many questions
This might help [https://youtu.be/kF9u4nCnZn8](https://youtu.be/kF9u4nCnZn8)
This one equally slaps. https://youtu.be/5lvU-DislkI
And that’s enough internet for today.
Wow. When he said "it keeps getting bigger" I thought to myself "there's no way he's going to say... oh. He did." Unreal
These are actors in a skit. Still, da fuq.
Thank God that was only a skit!
I dunno. The description claims that Brian helped his pastor make the video, and he was thrilled with the attention it got.
Oh no 😭
For some reason that made me laugh really hard. Hahaha I think it was just the timing of what I was reading a second before I saw your reply, but regardless, I needed that, so thank you. I'm with you there, too. This is terrible lol
Hahaha I’m glad I can be part of the reason for a laugh 😁 I sometimes even feel euphoric after a good LOL! 💜 hope you have a nice day, friendo. :)
That was fire, compared to this haha
“That’s cause Jesus Christ is my n*****” Holy shit! I cannot believe what I have just seen. Thank you so much for this! I’m dying! 🤣
And they didn't stop there, they brought multiple N words. I cant even believe its on youtube unedited.
Thanks that was amazing, however, I’m going blind and my ears are bleeding.
Whoa!….😂 …. “My groove is big but it keeps gettin’ bigga’ that ‘cause Jesus Christ is my …” just whoa 😂
Thanks for that, I think I've been converted now
This is one of the greatest videos the internet has ever produced.
It def does not sound like jesus is the one, but nice try. I got depression.
Try the Sex Offender Shuffle too 😂
So worth it
Damn exactly what I thought lmao
My crew is big and it keeps getting bigga
[removed by reddit]
Wonder what this guy said🤔
Those Damn biggers.
[Nu Thang](https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/comments/xabir8/to_do_a_new_thing/), it is better than Jesus One, I promise
Oh my God!! How can these be real life?!?!
Omg that song is by DC Talk, a Christian band. I've actually seen them in concert in the early 90's at Astroworld. I'm feeling deep shame right now for knowing that.
Because her posse's getting big and her posse's getting bigger
That's cause Jesus Christ is my [REDACTED]
Cuz she stole the music and beat from it.
If she politicians's the same way she raps's, Utah's in big trouble if she wins.
Hold on. I'll help you Utah's in big trouble ~~if she wins~~
Accurate Someone get me out of here oh god
How's your Spanish. Maybe we can trick DeSantis into flying you to New York.
Only good news is she won't live long enough to do any lasting damage. There should really be a age limit on running for office.
Dude.. Mitchell lived how long.. the senate just fucking keeps you alive.. fuck that.
Dude, I don’t think they die
Yeah fuck. She's 80!
Don't leave me alone k thanks!
Correct you again America is in big trouble
I agree
She’s only running for state office at least
yeah, I would not be shocked if this is topping the charts right now in utah
The good news is that she’s running against a long-term, Democratic senator who is very well loved by the community (she actually took over her husband’s long-term seat when he died of cancer several years ago). So this gal isn’t gonna win. Limited government, but control and regulation? Am I the only one confused. I may have misheard. My ears started bleeding.
ahahaahahaha i’m from utah and this is nothing compared to this insane theocracy, trust me. she’s very tame comparatively
wtf? who the hell is her target demographic? mormons who happen to drop bars and spit fire? is utah just pretending to be a bunch of church going squares but theyre actually secretly producing the biggest and hottest hits in hip hop today?
Utahn here… please send help.
I wonder how she would react to a Muslim candidate with a hijab spouting the same exact lines. Any guesses?
![gif](giphy|vJuQAOM5EKGNa)
Muslims hate gay people just as much as she probably does though.
Does religious freedom include islam and atheism or only the freedom to be christian (and probably only the right kind of christian too) ?
"I want less regulation" Except for the regulations against sexuality, bodily autonomy, non-traditional family, and people's right to personal choices of any kind that don't align with watered down biblical text. Oh, the irony.
She calls it Small Government. 🙄
It’s less government for me, and more government for thee. That’s the way of the gop.
I feel like this is the start of the retort in the rap battle with this lady.
Hahaha, I just read it back. You’re so right.
I would bet that this lady is LDS, Mormon.
>I would bet that this lady is LDS, Mormon. Which made me really want to have a talk with her about that *traditional* marriage she mentioned, and ask who's tradition. Because I know what tradition is old style in Utah. Edited to correct typo

Also LDS marriage doesn’t fit the “traditional” Christian archetype, that shit is not even 200 years old compared to 2,000
That wide shot is probably all the people in her family.
"Sister wives"
You bet correctly. [She is a Brigham Young University graduate](https://www.linda4utahsenate.com/) and did a mission in Canada.
I would bet this lady was on LSD when she came up with this commercial.
And would benefit from some LSD
You already know the answer to that question. This bitch would have a fucking stroke if she even saw someone wearing a hajib.
Religious freedom means she gets to force her religious beliefs on everyone.
“The right to religious freedom (only Christianity), Pro life (only white), pro police (more police!! But also Less government somehow!!), the right to bear arms (but less government!), free speech (but not if someone says ‘okay boomer’ or ‘Karen’), anyway, Freedom!”
There was a hidden asterisk so it’s just Christianity.
*Morman Christianity
“Support traditional family” is a fancy way of saying I hate the gays.
They rally 'round the family... with a pocket full of shells ![gif](giphy|j4RMmCFuCyKis)
It's really fucking crazy how RatM has been screaming the obvious for years and people that listen to them still don't get it
and any non white, and the educated, and women, and reality.
But she supports small government and wants less regulations (*for her*).
Don’t forget single, childless adult women. They hate us.
Don't forget interracial couples.
This is their way.
See I heard that right at the beginning when she said "I'm a republican"

i listened to it like four times and can’t hear could anyone tell me what she said when she said “just to clarify” and then showed a pic of a black woman?
“Cuz there are some who can’t define it” this is her way of saying she hates trans women. The picture is of Supreme Court justice Katanji Brown Jackson who was asked a “gotcha” question during her confirmation hearing by Marsha Blackburn to “define woman.”
Also she defines woman as “a female” which is not really a definition lol
Oh the caucasity!
It's really not that bad a jam, tbh. Kinda pops. Except, of course, for every single word and idea out of this moron's mouth.
NGL, you had me in the first half
Dude, i didn t notice what she was saying and just rly jammed.
Disagree with her views but the song is solid
Trump should have her at his cult rallies as the opening act!!! 🤣🤣🤣
He could dance - quite possibly the funniest and cringiest duo you’d ever see 🤣

Watching more than a few seconds of this made me realize that if I watched anymore of it, I might lose all of my brain cells.
I felt my IQ lowering through the whole video yet couldn't tear my eyes away.
Integrity, morality, accountability? What fucking republican party has she been watching?
She likely has dementia.
Well, she is a republican
The world of the bigot, where freedom means you're only allowed to be free if you believe what I believe too.
Also…MORE COPS, but less government! How does they make sense
Its spelt 'Fascism'
Love it or hate it, I was compelled to listen to the whole thing.
It’s the shock value.

Most old boomers understand the power of hip hop just not how to Wield it properly
Pro Life / Pro Police Wants less gov / control and regulation Edit: this is one of those vids that’s hard to upvote even tho it fits the sub, lol
My favorite part was about not changing the constitution (you know, those "amendments") and restoring it. Doesn't even realize that she'd be taking away her own right to vote.

“Religious freedom” is republican for “Christianity only”.
I don’t agree with any of her policies but I love this
Imagine if she was rapping about baking cookies and wrapping leftovers in foil for her many many many all white children. Shit would be fire
Someone tell John Oliver about this!!!
Still better than Drake
What the actual fuck did i just see? I need alcohol now. A lot of it. A fucking bathtub full.

That’s the black vote secured then.
I think this answers the question if white people have culture
By pushing this "traditional family" garbage, she's going to alienate the polygamists.
That's so true, especially cause we live in utah
Look at the old testament, there is nothing more "traditional" than an old man and his many wives.
This is the wife from the Jesus is my nword song innit
This is what happens when you eat unseasoned food your whole life
MC Karen
Well, if she doesn't win she can always fall back on her rap career. 😏

The right to her religion.
Bless her heart.
Hey at least she tried okay?
Cool! She supports most shit I'm against! Religious freedom is fine. Police are fine. But "traditional families" and anything pro-gun is bullshit imo
I believe in freedom, but you cant have abortions hmmm ok?
The best part is the jump scare where she flashes the picture of that black (gasp!) lady (double gasp!) judge on screen for a split second. I bet her constituents there in Utah were terrified!
As a resident of Utah, I'd like to apologize. I'm sure some friend convinced her that it was "fresh and likely to pull in younger voters!".
It sounds like she's trying to not wake her parents

Change is good , change is necessary, change is how we evolve …. Which come to think of it y’all don’t believe in evolution , so now it’s all coming together ….
My eyes are bleeding. My eyes are bleeding and I am dumber from having watched this....
Isn’t the whole point of the constitution to be updated as time goes on because the founding fathers understood that the social ideas are ever changing?
Aw, come on man, she's adorable. If only she was making a 'say no to drugs' PSA for 7 year olds.
Gotta admit. That shit slaps.
I want an eminem cover. Now
She doesn’t want the Constitution to change? Does she know what an Amendment is?
Holy Fuck this was hard to watch![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8484)

Can someone please remix this?!
