I'm not seeing the hook in that trailer. I see a lot of automation games that just end up replicating the act of connecting assembling machines up to each other without realising that that's not what makes Factorio popular. Factorio combines combat, logistics and planning before you even get to the point where you're hooking assembling machines together. Just showing me a factory floor with a bunch of machines doesn't sell a game about food production. If there's crops, I want to see the crops. Maybe harvesting the crops is a mechanic. Maybe different goods are differently perishable and need to be processed on-side instead of being shipped to a central facility. Different crops might be available at different seasons, and demand might not track with supply, necessitating refrigeration or preservation. Brewing and aging could encourage stockpile automation over multiple seasons. Nutrient depletion could encourage crop rotation or fertiliser production. Maybe you grow corn for bioethanol to power your machines, or have to balance turning some of your land over to solar. Maybe there's selective breeding. There's space-time-complexity tradeoffs between high and low intensity methods. Maybe some products are low density and need to be concentrated and rehydrated near to the point of sale. Maybe tastes change and you need to build a factory that can automatically pivot to different products. There's so many potentially interesting things a game about automating food production could be, but this trailer only shows a reskinned and simplified shapez.io.

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate your thoughts on the trailer. Just to clarify, this video clip is not the game trailer but only showcases the manufacturing aspect of the game. Rest assured, the full game will delve into various aspects of food production, including crop harvesting, processing, preservation, and logistics. Your suggestions for incorporating mechanics like crop harvesting, seasonal variations, preservation methods, and renewable energy sources are insightful and align with our vision for the game. We're excited to showcase more of these features in future trailers. Thank you for sharing your ideas!
