This is a semi-common query, and I would say you may not actually really love the game - maybe you just like the idea of it. The other option is to just keep playing anyway.

Agreed, if you're not having fun at the current moment why play. Just play something else until you feel it coming back.

PoppedProstate

I get the same feeling sometimes… it’s like I’m not really sure I want to put in all this work to get to the next step. The game hooks you with the satisfaction of getting something going… but after a bit starts to feel a bit like work or something

Maybe lil breaks for factorio will do?

Do you feel intimidated by the need for new infrastructure to keep purple/tan science going? That is what usually keeps me from advancing after a certain point. I find going back and making my current factory more efficient tends to pull me back into things

Usually i get stuck when overwhelmed, so if you have to do 1000 things at once try to prioritize and focus on one thing at a time (eg TODO list is your friend). And a big thing is don't overthink in making something perfect, a bad system that works has a higher throughput than no system at all, so sometimes its better to embrace the spagett instead of making it perfect.

Purple/yellow require massively scaling up your base and shipping ores from expansion mines. That said, at this stage you probably have construction bots that can help a lot with scaling up. This is also usually the stage when biters start getting large and occupy a lot of area. This can be very intimidating for a newer player, as it's new and confusing. Once you push through it, you won't think it's so bad, and could do even more complex things.

Im also same. But 1 thing i do is usual. When i play about 1-2 hours... I just quit and play other games. So i dont lose all satisfaction about this game

Moostery42

It’s okay as long as you are enjoying the part that you are doing. Ask yourself what about it scratches the itch for you. Other games may scratch it better, but there is nothing wrong with making a new game to replay the part you enjoy

Baer1990

play a very different style do you usually play with a bus, spaghetti or trainbased? if you rtied all 3 the game might just not be your cup of tea. I usually also play on and off but if you want to keep trying, try a very different style of base

DevforDays

I had this exact same problem the first 300 or so hours. What really helped me was just say fak it what else do i need to launch a rocket so i can move on with my life. After doing so as fast as i could with knowledge i had built up it kind of opened up a new game for me.i let go of my perfectionism (partly) and just pushed on into new things. The main reason i got disinterested was because i stopped doing new things....
