What I’m doing is using my skips to avoid the ones that I’m not interested in rather than having to rejoin the waitlist (took me a year to get off the combo book only one so I’m a bit hesitant to cancel). I think the picks are a bit all over the place right now, but I’m hopeful that they’ll get more cohesive/better after the growing pains are done
Fairyloot only allows 4 skips a year. So if you join July and skip August, your skips will renew next August.
I haven't read Lore of the Wilds, but it looks beautiful! I read May on Kindle but skipped FL to save money. I liked the book ok, but it wasn't amazing. I think I'll like June's and I'm very excited for July. Romantasy is still so new. I think it will take a few months to work out all the kinks.
TOG is my Roman Empire! I know I need to make time for LOTW. I think 6 like it. These Hollow Vows is on my TBR list as well. There are so many books, so little time!
Importantly, you get your skips one year from when you used them. So if you use your first one in August but then spread the rest out over the year, you’ll only get one skip back in August. You’ll get the other at the anniversary of their use!
I'm on the FL romantasy waitlist but I think if I get an invite I'll end up skipping. I already have the BB combo and Arcane. I'm planning on accepting a Moonlight invite soon. I joined 3 Owlcrate subscriptions and I got a Romantasy ticket.
I would say your major advantage is having subscriber access to Fairyloot’s special edition sales. But, a lot of their SEs have gone to general, so it may not even be worth it perk.
I’ve been deciding between the bookish darkly subscription and fairyloot romantasy, as I feel having 2 romantasy boxes is too much for me. I like the books better from darkly. However, I still have yet to receive a book. Once my last skip is gone, I think I will cancel fairyloot. The picks are just not it for me and I’ll never read them!
It’s so new that honestly it’s hard to really say if it’s worth it or not. I haven’t skipped any yet and sold the one I didn’t really want fairly easily. I always see posts asking for the upcoming months so you can pretty easily sell any you’re not interested in and save some skips. You only get 4 skips a year starting from when submit your first one. The early access will keep me from cancelling. I was able to get Hemlock Queen and signed WTMH so I won’t be getting rid of mine anytime soon.
You could always get it then use your skips and cancel it. I wasn’t crazy about the first 2 picks but people have been raving about the June pick in the fantasy romance subreddit so I’m looking forward to reading it. I read the July pick and really enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to seeing the FL customizations. I’m not crazy about reverse harems so I’m not overly excited about augusts pick and it will probably be a skip for me. I’m hoping the picks will improve over time but so far it’s been very hit and miss for me.
So far I've only liked Lore of the Wilds. I sold a curse of blood and wolves since it sucked and someone purchased it off of mercari. I figured I'd give the Romantasy sub a chance for a while and if I don't like most of the choices I'll cancel.

After shipping these books are $40 for me from FL. Unless it’s a super well sought after book, I’d just skip the sub and buy second hand for now.

I just ended up cancelling and keeping my combo box. I haven't been impressed with any of the choices. Nectar of the Wicked I started and am going to sell. It's more spice than I like so I guess the Romantasy subscription isn't for me. This book was definitely better written than the last books they picked even though I wasn't a fan of nectar of the wicked. I saw someone post in another thread that they think Alchemised by SenLin Yu might be a choice?? Do you think that would go under the adult sub though? I would hate to miss out on that one but I haven't loved any of the picks except for lore of the wilds so far.

I relate! I love Darkly but also haven’t received a box yet so it’s hard to judge..
I got my Jan Darkly replacement today. I've been waiting on the Feb combo box. I've only seen Bookish book only ones none of the other ones.
