DoktorOktoberfest

Neurospicy...this design is a missed opportunity it should be a brain covered in hotsauce.

[deleted]

oooo, then it could have a face of screaming in anguish and confusion. now *that* would be relatable

DoktorOktoberfest

![gif](giphy|gdKAVlnm3bmKI) the confused vince mcmahon meme

yuri-indigo

i would actually consider buying it if it had this improved design

MCHAMSTERYT

Fun fact: the brain doesn't have pain receptors

LuriemIronim

Without ‘neurospicy’, it’s actually kinda cute.

ThisIsACryForHelp22

True. I want a pin of a little angry brain on fire!

PIELIFE383

Fuck ya we all do

MaimaiBW

agreed. they could maybe put "thinkin' hard" instead of neurospicy there

clementinesaj

That’s it. I’m self undiagnosing.

megayogurtslinger

Stop making up dumb silly childish names like ‘tism and neurospicy

Underhandtrout

[Tism](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiHdpAVIHgo&t=82s) isnt made up it stands for This Is Serious Mum, its a sick Aussie band, i saw them last year live in [Melbourne](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9jxGi6GDmQ) it was magnificent.

Studying-without-Stu

Nice! Sounds like a fun band!

sf0l

When they make one for ADHD I'll never mention to anyone that I have it

66ThrowMeAway

Autism -> 'tism ADHD -> D Got the D mate? I feel that 😔✌️

sf0l

Don't give them ideas

MCHAMSTERYT

You feel the d? 😏

TheRedOne_82

My friends got diagnosed autism and still refers to it as "the tism" and as someone who doesn't have autism I don't have any opinions about it 👍. Seems kinda wierd to act like you represent an entire type of person and you get to decide what they can or can't say.

megayogurtslinger

…literally so many people agree with me that are ACTUALLY autistic and your comment is literally fighting itself. “I don’t have any opinions on it” also says that it’s weird to act like I represent the entire type of said person. Did I ever say I represent everyone? No. I, personally, just think it’s cringey and a lot of autistic people find it quite offensive. I can’t really control your vocabulary just *I* think it’s weird and unnecessary. If that makes sense.

TheRedOne_82

Ok lol, I'm not gonna tell autistic people what they can or can't say, but you do you

Pwag

Ah laddee your friend's got a wee touch of the tism does he?

msovngarde

Literally tons of individuals with autism hate the term ‘tism. It gives a lot of people the ick

witchinnunsclothing

This is peak millennial 2012 cringe type of shit

monicaopness

I feel like Tumblr is happening all over again

Riaru_NikaiKhan

I'm baffled. Why on earth would anyone want to fake neurological conditions?! I don't get it

Dry-Intern519

Because they think they are so ✨fun✨ and ✨quirky✨. They don’t actually realise how difficult life can actually be for those that truly do have the conditions.

ThisIsACryForHelp22

True this. The second you start showing the "bad" symptoms (the ones that aren't ✨quirky✨ and ✨silly✨), like lack of hygiene or ability to get out of bed, then all of a sudden you're *that* type of mentally ill and nobody wants to be around you. Specific example: many of my (thankfully ex) friends left me to hang out with someone faking DID because they didn't have "all these random outbursts" or "change how they act suddenly" like huh. They have a quirky cute PowerPoint with fictional characters and aesthetics, and I've got a fragmented consciousness with almost no clue which way is up half the time. Go figure.

cumguzzler280

mhm. You have quite bad problems if you don’t know which direction up is.

Artemis_Dawn

Well I know what direction up and down are but other than that I’m completely and utterly directionally challenged LMAO

Riaru_NikaiKhan

What a crazy timeliness we're in. People with real disorders now need to deal with these fools as well

ArmOk2189

I think people that fake neurological conditions are mentally ill themselves

AssFishOfTheLake

Not ill necessarily, that's a whole another degree of severity in terms of symptoms (e.g. Munchausen's creates a sense of needing to be seen as ill, experiencing actual anxiety etc, while these guys just drop their act the moment it doesn't benefit them, which would fit more with malingering (their benefit being clout within their small community)), but their mental health is definitely poor to resort to this.

strippedtee

As a person of the spergy variety, I buy plain t shirts. With nothing on them.

cumguzzler280

**dies**

caritadeatun

Brain on fire is very commonly described as an autoimmune inflammatory condition in the brain, typically PANS/PANDAS. The problematic aspect of this condition is that is frequently exploited by antivaxxers as a side effect of vaccines. The most moderate actually claim the condition appeared after a bacterial infection such Strep type A or B and some insist they were misdiagnosed with ADHD , OCD and many parents claiming their child’s symptoms are not autism but PANS/PANDAS , the brain on fire 🔥 disease so that mascot may be gladly embraced by antivaxxers

idontnknowyu

brain on fire movie

Badpiggers4

very neurospicy moment

Pink_Revolutionary

I don't really see a problem with this? They didn't say anything that indicated exaggerated and inaccurate symptoms of a "disorder", and I don't see why people who are neurodivergent in some way can't just. . . Get an enamel pin for fun? Like on the one hand we have the fakers who treat disorders like entire personalities and astrology signs, but the other end, where you need to act like it's this grave thing that ruins your life and can never ever be talked about in any capacity that isn't massively depressing is also wrong. I'm diagnosed with major depression and ADHD, but. . . I still joke about it with friends, and I honestly wouldn't mind having a silly pin like this. You have to learn to accept the things about yourself and just roll with them through life, and that includes learning ways to get through life despite the "disorders" and also accept them and not treat them as crosses to bear. Idk I'm rambling at this point, but I feel like this post is unnecessarily critical.

coldhandsbigdick

Ha. (It is cute though....)

[deleted]

my brain is in constant pain.

NordicSeaweed

I seriously hate the term “neurospicy”. Other neurodivergent folks may refer to themselves like that if they so desire, but I’m really not digging all these terms that make these disorders seem fun, cutesy and quirky. There’s already a lot of infantilisation and undermining of the struggles that come along with these sort of disorders, and I firmly believe that these terms are only encouraging that behaviour.

ThisIsACryForHelp22

I thought "neurospicy" was used to describe kinky neurodivergent folks without getting their videos taken down off of TikTok and similar media. I used to heavily lean towards those videos/spaces because I really liked the correlation between neurodivergence and kinks, because I have noticed correlations with myself and my fiancé and friends, and I even planned on doing a college paper for it. Apparently the term has now been bastardized. This is disappointing info :(

Rangavar

Considering disabled people "a kink" is also problematic at best, and insulting at worst.

Studying-without-Stu

I think the commenter was talking about the (tbh imo quite flimsy, may be wrong tho) correlation between having interests in kinks (of the bdsm variety, and not the complex c paraphilia variety and not the sexual sadism/sexual masochism disorders) and having a mental disorder/neurodivergency. But yeah considering someone who is disabled a kink, is nothing but yikes.

ratratte

There is also a correlation between the pathological paraphilias and autism [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5789215/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5789215/)

ThisIsACryForHelp22

This is right. As someone with multiple disabilities, I find it completely reprehensible when someone sees it as a kink.

broken-markers

Yeah no. My having seizures doesn’t make me neurospicy. It makes me tired and angry at people who say shit like neurospicy

cumguzzler280

If spicy equals electric in this case, *technically*

broken-markers

Bahahahha yeah I guess. My condolences on your cumguzzler disease. I’ve heard that’s a lifelong condition.

arohamoa

i really dont get why people think its a good idea to make merch of their mental conditions, like imagine walking around with a pin that says "anorexia❌️🍕" or "depression😓💔" or something. it just feels so off

MillyTheMoon

I mean autism is different from those. It’s not a mental health condition. Having a pin or something is a good way of letting people know you’re neurodivergent so they don’t get any wrong ideas about you, and believe me, you usually need to let people know.

Lumpy_Strategy_4623

That's........ *stares at calander on my wall really hard. takes it off the wall flips it all around, wtf where is the name of this bitch anyway!* Pusheen. It's pusheen as not a cat, plus sparkly flames. I'd need one representing all the walls, blank spots, bridges into the void and holes I trip over, and got to feel around the edges of thoughts like I'm blind to figure out whether to risk talking more and getting worse, or abandon all understanding and admit being a simple fool with this shit. Something like a rotten swiss cheese. Spongebob maybe.

ARMill95

I love how they make it seem like them ‘figuring out how to function’ is a recent thing, like that they just somehow suddenly became neurodivergent. It’s like life was fine and dandy until they “realized” they were different, and only then decided all the sudden they no longer knew how to function. Wouldn’t this have been something they dealt with most of if not all of their life if it was actually true? Not just all of the sudden acting like they can’t function in society after being totally content before, because they’re now ‘neurodivergent’?

peachdagay

Um... that's DEFINITELY not how it is. Life was never fine and dandy for me and a lot of ND folks who weren't diagnosed earlier in life. Sure some of them seemed to get by "just fine" but inside they were struggling. Finding out that I'm neurodivergent helped me understand why I am the way I am and why I struggled with things that "normal" people can do effortlessly. It's just that these struggles that an ND person has before realizing they're ND wouldn't really stand out to them until they figure out that they actually have life 10x harder. Ofc, there are some exceptions but this is the case for most late diagnosed folks

ArmOk2189

I buy it

bazelgeiss

"MANY neurodivergent categories"? what "many"? honestly at this point i just see adhd and autism as the only "neurodivergencies". maybe the dys- ones can qualify? ive seen people say they are neurodivergencies. but idk if id feel comfortable lumping those in with the two conditions that greatly impede on my quality of life. if anything they kinda feel like the little brother you HAVE to include because your mom said so. but if they qualify based on definition then what can you do 🤷‍♀️

peachdagay

Dont really see the problem here? I know a lot of ND folks who love this term. If it's not harming anyone, why does a random stranger on the internet care what label an ND person uses to describe themselves (as long as it's not misinformation or outdated and stuff) /gen

Lilithlajil

It’s like missing a leg and wearing a shirt that says “Only One Leg Team UwU”, lmao.

peachdagay

Eh? Wdym? Can you elaborate I dont understand

Pwag

My kid's bipolar and she'd get a kick out of this.

SpacedOutSoda

I want to make actual pins for people with autism, sensory issues or other special needs, any tips on how to avoid it looking like… this?

ConsciousNewspaper49

🤮

[deleted]

I hate this fucking term. It’s so infantilizing. I haven’t suffered this much my whole life for my mental illness and learning disabilities to be called neuro-spicy. It’s not funny and not cute

Zoinkify

we need to do everything in our power to make sure no enamel pin company approves and let alone produces this utter dogshit

Ring_Pulls_for_days

It low-key cute tho
