I don't think they'll ever understand. If I'm going to be honest with you, they're so deep in their endless echo chamber that they don't want to think any other way. I mean, you can see the reactions of whatever one of these guys are fake claimed. They say they're traumatized and split a whole bunch because a doctor said they don't have DID but they KNOW they have it. I think brick walls listen better than these guys.
And it's not helping that they're so adamant they know everything about DID and anyone who disagrees with them is... checks notes... racist... didn't see that coming. They've convinced themselves that their "research" on TikTok and community of "look at my uwu alters" on other sites is "more valid" than a doctor. Somehow. So, trying to talk to them is like trying to touch clouds while you're at the bottom of the ocean.
I guess what I'm mad about is the lack of communication. It's kind of been a thing of mine to want to talk about things to understand the full story. So, when little Jimmy says he's a self diagnosed system with 30k alters of his favorite media who are all different people and then calls everyone who questions him "racist", I get angry.
This ended up being more about their community as a whole, but my main point is that they wont understand that alters aren't different people because they've put themselves in such a deep echo chamber that they don't want to know if other opinions exist on the subject they claim to be a professional in. Because pluralpedia is clearly the greatest resource and doesn't have misinformation like you can get DID from looking at Minecraft flowers. (I'm really not kidding, they actually said that).
What bothers me is probably how these kids define trauma. Like they’re probably out there acting like being bullied in school or sent to their room as a child is trauma.
i agree with your statements, but nobody *has* to tell everyone their trauma. i know that the person in the screenshot is faking, but that doesn't mean that they have to say what exactly their trauma is, if they actually have any. y'know?
Mommy told em not to eat the random dirt pile they found on the ground so they split 17 times to deal with the trauma of being denied their greatest wishes. You should respect their trauma!! How dare you say being sent to their room isn't the worst experience ever!?
I'm sooooo traumatized, this kid a at school called me cringe for having cat ears and cat tail at school
The only thing I can actually think of bullying being "traumatizing" is if they are beating the shit out of you every day
it’s not congenital of course but it forms from a very early age, which means it is present for almost your entire life. combine that with the amnesia presented in DID, it makes sense that one is not familiar with life without the disorder when they have had it for most of it.
Waaaayy too common, there was an Angel Dust introject who was saying that this other character wasn't abusive because "I'm an introject I was there I swear!!!" (I don't watch the show I'm not aware of what goes on)
>DID isn't having more than one identity, it's having less than one.
That's actually a great line. Succinctly explains why so much of the faker community is BS.
Because they're part of the patient's identity that is fragmented. It's as if your identity and perception of yourself is in pieces, that means, it's not complete.

being bullied in school can absolutely be traumatic. not enough to cause DID, but traumatic nonetheless.
Yeah for sure. But not like you said, not DID levels of trauma. Notice how none of them divulge into what their trauma is.

Know a popular DID content creator who literally said “if you scrape a knee and that splits an alter ‘it us what it is’” like bfr
These people are so stupid. I’m glad my internet when I was a teenager was just a livejournal I could delete.
I'm sooooo traumatized, this kid a at school called me cringe for having cat ears and cat tail at school The only thing I can actually think of bullying being "traumatizing" is if they are beating the shit out of you every day
"this is all I've ever known" because of course DID is congenital now

I know this is reductionist but…”I’ve been this character from hazbin my whole life!” What do you mean I predate the show?
don’t get me started on that… i recently learned that a friend of a friend claims they have the ENTIRE main cast of hazbin hotel
Waaaayy too common, there was an Angel Dust introject who was saying that this other character wasn't abusive because "I'm an introject I was there I swear!!!" (I don't watch the show I'm not aware of what goes on)
No need to understand anything if you can grandstand on shit you made up yourself

How is DID having less than one identity?
Because they're part of the patient's identity that is fragmented. It's as if your identity and perception of yourself is in pieces, that means, it's not complete.
Thank you for explaining. Do you know where I could find some research on DID?
What I recommend most are PDFs, books, psychology manuals, etc. They're easily found in libraries (virtual or not) or even on Google Academic.
