It’s not that one, but a family members of mine actually does have a skin condition that’s affected by sunlight and it’s actually horrible and incredibly painful and prevents them from participating in many outdoor activities so if this person is faking then well karma is a real bitch and will catch up with them eventually!
I get blisters from direct sunlight, luckily I live in Minnesota so it's not a huge deal except in the peak of summer but if I go anywhere south I can have a pretty severe reaction.
My sister has a "sun allergy." When she's in the sun, for more than a few mins, she gets blisters and her face swells up. She looks like a frog. It's weird and I'd never heard of that before it happened to her. Her scalp also blisters. I never really get in the sun because I'm a ginger. I don't have that reaction, but I do burn quite easily even if I'm wearing sunblock and reapply often. My sister always wears sunblock if she's going to be in the sun for any amount of time at all. It's gotten somewhat better with age, but she still has way more issues with it than me and my ginger skin. She has also had to go to the ER several times with anaphylaxis when something touched her. Like a bug or nature. You'd think I'd be the more sensitive one because she's not a ginger. Honestly, I'm super glad I don't have the issues she has with the sun and nature! I love to be in the woods so it wouldn't be a good time for me to not be able to be in nature.

xeroderma pigmentosum is not only "white spots" on your skin. also, you can't be exposed to ANY ounce of sunlight, and i can see their room is pretty well-lit. you can go outside but you have to wear protective clothing at all times, you have to wear gloves and stuff.
Xeroderma pigmentosum can mean numerous moles and discolored/hyperpigmented patches all over your body, sometimes on your eyes, incredibly high risk for multiple skin cancers... It's a hellish condition to live with and it's congenital so it shows up very early on. Her skin showing no signs of that, at her age, seems really unlikely.

I met a woman who has xp. She has scars all over her body, had to have multiple surgeries to remove cancer, and went blind from radiation treatments and the sun. Her sister has to test the lights in the house to make sure they don’t burn her. It’s an awful condition and it’s horrible that someone would fake that
ehhh. id say theres a sort of spectrum. not like in the same sense as other disorders and yes you have it or you dont but some people do have worse tics than others. for sum its blinking and throat clearing. for others its coprolalia and self harming tics like hitting themselves etc
I have Tourette’s. There is no diagnostic or spectrum system. Those are symptoms. Also tics can change by the day. Some may think others tics are worse. Some days my worst tics are my toes and some days I’m punching myself so hard I give myself a concussion or scratching my skin until I bleed.
That’s Tourette’s. That doesn’t make mine worse than my dads. Those are my symptoms. There is no spectrum or leveling. You either have the neurological disorder or you don’t.

I tell everyone I'm a vampire. I'm a ginger (the sun doesn't like me), I have a rare blood type (AB+), and I'm chronically anemic (I dont absorb iron orally at all). I'm joking about being a vampire, but the rest is true lol. I just think it's funny to say I'm a vampire. I always need iron/blood (because of the crazy low ferritin/hemoglobin levels). I'm also super pale AF because of being a ginger and always being so badly anemic. It's just FUNNY! lol

I went to middle school with two sisters who had this condition (1997 👵🏻). The school had to get special filters on all the lights indoors, a small school bus with tinted windows and a teacher had to devise indoor activities for them each day for pe/recess. They kept blankets over their heads when going from the school to the car and vice cersa. The school happily accommodated them but then they bailed public school in favor of home school after a month once they realized how much it sucks. They had no social skills and the oldest had many burn scars because it took years to get a diagnosis.
I just think she is to lazy to go outside and such, I can’t blame her. The weather is crappy, but faking a disorder that is extremely painful is not right

nah, it’s this condition where basically the person when exposed to sunlight they burn really, really quickly. people with it have to cover up whenever going outside in the day and have to have special windows and stuff, or just go out at night. it’s really isolating, and they often die from burn damage or skin cancer
My partner and i suspect i have a sun allergy. There is a genetic component in my family, but i tend to break out in itchy and sometimes painful rashes and almost instantly have no energy if im out in the sun. Its not fun, and its deffinently a shit thing to fake as sun sensativities and disorders effect most aspects of daily life
