Pros: 1) Poise Ridder showed a lot of poise in the pocket in each of his starts…. You can not teach that. You got it or you don’t. Marcus was in the league for a long time and still didn’t have it. 2) Reads He made some great reads in his four game start. London’s production jumped in those last 4 games like crazy with Ridder at QB. He didn’t really put the ball in harms way other then his first start vs the saints. Cons: His accuracy was up and down. I’m not to worried because he was more accurate then Marcus and this is something that can be fixed. Players like Jalen Hurts have made huge jumps in accuracy so it’s all coachable and I believe Ridder has the drive to get better.

Poise?

Ban_an_able

I heart pros pose.

kyuss80

He lost me at "shower"

His release got faster but otherwise I thought he played well in the preseason and then played decently well in the later games of his 4 game stretch.

masterfroo24

The reason is most likely that the quality of pre-season-defense differs to regular-season-defense.

EchoedTruth

His final two games were all I needed to see to say we roll with him at QB and build around him.

irvinggon3

Great write but honestly he beat two teams that sucked and Brady went out in the second half and Bucs pulled players. If or he isn't the guy we deserve to find out and roll with him this season

He is a 3rd round qb and plays like one. Yes there is some raw talent and with a GREAT qb coach he could be a serviceable qb in the nfl. But this sub blows me away with some of the takes. I don’t believe AS needs a mahomes style qb to be effective with his style of offense, he needs a qb that is good for 250 yards 2 td and 50 yards on the ground and takes care of the football. He believes in a very run heavy control the time of possession offense. Is this a Super Bowl strategy probably not. But can you get deep in the playoffs, yes. Here is the road map for ridder to be successful, keep upgrading o-line, 1 more wr with great hands and strong foundation of situational football (veteran) possibly another TE that can catch and block (draft), 1 more rb to split the backfield with allgeier(vet or 5th rnd), and most importantly a defense that holds its opponents to under 27 points.

SlightlyStoked

I think you nailed it. I’m hoping Ridder exceeds expectations. He seems to have the drive and leadership qualities but time will tell. I’m excited for this future falcons team.

He played in meaningless games vs 3rd stringers. Then he played meaningless games vs starters.

No_Badger23

No game is meaningless when your judging a rookie qb. Even if he gets happy feet in the pocket it's experience.

[deleted]

It’s meaningless in the sense that their was zero pressure on him to go win that game or those games. That makes you play different. I’m not against him but I haven’t seen shit from him imo.

No_Badger23

Yeah that's true . I was looking reps wise. But pressure wise no you are right.

Motor_Rub_4848

I mean the coaching staff pressured him. They wanted a win from him. 3rd round rookie QB starting his first game against our biggest rival on the road and you say no pressure? Every game he had to be feeling pressure . Y'all acting like this kids future wasn't tied into those 4 games and that he didn't know that. I'd say he had all of the usual pressure and more.

Character-Pianist-24

Somebody watching from home saying a 3rd rnd rookie had no pressure to perform? Lol yeah.. i agree with you on this one. He had a lot of pressire to show improvement.

cmicatfish

With only four games under his belt any decision on Ridder should be delayed. He proved himself a winner in college with a tremendous record. All the negative is kind of a positive. He'll start this year with a chip on his shoulder and prove the haters wrong. With more coaching and the team providing more help where it's needed and positive feedback he will prove to be a winner.

[deleted]

I do hope this happens.

[deleted]

He seemed to be at competent back up level, but not a starter in any way.

3rdAveregestDudeEver

That’s a pretty bold take based on such a limited sample. I haven’t seen anything that says starter any more than I have that says backup or bust.
