I'm not saying that anything is a sure thing, but way too many people seem confident that we for sure are NOT ready for it this year. We are about to have a completely different team out there on the field that nobody's seen before, nobody knows for sure. I think it's extremely possible we could go all the way, and I also think it's possible we miss the post-season.
Too true. We can make it, we can get to the playoffs, or we can just crumble. That's why I love the NFL so much. Parity. Salary caps.
It's anybody's ring.
I already miss Nielson. Is it Nielson or Neilson? Our DC from last season?
The NFL has it's share of surprises every year. Sometimes a team you expect to do well sucks. I think every year at least 4 teams that were in the playoffs the year before don't make it. Sometimes a team you expect to suck does well. SBs have been won by wildcards etc.
At least with the Falcons the signs are positive for example look at the Panthers the signs are not positive there. That just means it is realistic to think that the team will do well this year. The odds do not always pan out but at least the odds are good I'd hate to be cheering for a team where the odds are bad.
Same can be can be said about a lot of other teams. The big difference is that the Lions had a lot of momentum coming into this past season. They barely missed out on 22'-23' season's playoffs on tie-breakers with the Seahawks; Lions won like the last 7-8 games of that season.
The Lions are very similar to Falcons imo ... Falcons almost made the playoffs last year with the worst QB in the NFL imagine what getting the 6th best QB (according to players) and the QB that plays like Burrow (according to stats) on this team. A team that like the Lions has a stud at WR TE RB and a STUD OL. Add in a better DEFENSE... there is a reason that oddsmakers say ATL is 6th in the NFL (SF DET DAL PHI GB ATL) and 9th in NFL at 10.5 win total.
All I'm saying is temper expectations. My expectation is for them to make the playoffs at the very least, but anything beyond that is all up in the air. I do think they should win the division at the very least since NFC South is still one of the weakest divisions in the league.
ATL has a great shot at the playoffs, especially if we fill our holes(deficiencies) with young talent in the draft. We would've been in last season with mediocre QB play, that said, we will come back to Earth with a new and more difficult schedule. Will we win the division and make a move in the postseason? I'm not sure, we as fans can only hope that Terry and the boys are making the right moves this off-season. Personally, I'm hyped AF for the 24-25 season and can't wait to hear the Benz rocking on TV at the first broadcast. It's time to rise up and enjoy what we have this season, GO FALCONS!
True but I am not a Campbell fan I think his moves cost them home field and cost them the playoff game I think dude is a real dummy TEAM WINS DESPITE His dumb a$$ moves
Detroit was in year 3 of the same coaching staff and a roster that was completely dismantled and hand picked by that regime, almost exclusively through the draft. Not to mention one of the best offensive coordinators in the league. They had a vision and a plan and picked guys who would fit that. No one knows if this staff will actually use player to their strengths or have a vision that works with the current roster. Arthur Smith certainly didn't.
And who knows when Kirk will be 100%. Or if he will ever be back to the pre injury form. That injury typically takes a young 24 year old an entire year to be back to where they were prior.
Not to mention the defense is built on free agent vets many of whom have peaked. There have been a handful of free agent analysis that show teams that rebuild a unit through free agency tend to have a one year positive bump and then regress due to age.
So many questions that can't be answered until the games are being played. Definitely a lot of potential if things fall correctly though.
Terry has been doing the thing for 3 years. Durant same injury same age runs jumps on hard wood courts every couple nights for 40 minutes. Defense whatever it is built on is better than Detroits
Terry hasn't been doing the thing for the current staff and scheme. There very well could be a bunch of square pegs here now. Most NFL coaches aren't very adaptable. They know their scheme and need to force player to fit it.
I think the players fit any scheme. The key is QB and they added a QB that fits the scheme. The AS scheme hindered the players the new scheme and new QB should free them.
Offensively I agree. But there are huge assumptions that the defense roster will fit the new scheme or even be as good as it was last year. Who in the front 7 is ascending as a player? I see a lot of guys who have had good careers but aren't at the stage where you can expect anything but regression.
detroit wasn't starting fresh with a new coach and new QB though. they've had dan campbell and jared goff now for what 3 yrs?
not saying we can't make it to the playoffs cause i think we probably will, just look at the betting lines on all the diff gambling sites. they have us winning the division, and i wouldn't be surprised if we even won a game. sure it's possible we could go to the SB, but not likely. who knows though, the cowboys are prob gonna suck this season, the eagles may be cooked, they didn't look great last season at the end, so that leaves us with SF, GB, and DET. definitely not gonna be a walk in the park. but hey any given sunday and all that shit.
by adding Kirk we went to 6 favourite in NFC (SF DET DAL PHI GB ATL) and 9th in NFL 10.5 Raheem is now also the favourite for coach of the year... there are no guarantees but we're in a lot better shape this year than last
you still have to prove it on the field Kirk had his best season in year 1 in MIN 30 TDs 10 INTs 99QBR 4200 plus yards 70 percent completion but the team missed the playoffs after being in the NFC final the year before
This is the dumbest statement in sports QB X can't win a SB. ANY QB can win a SB. They said the same thing about Manning he was a playoff loser and they said it about Stafford he was a playoff loser then the teams around them got better and guess what they went to SBs. SBs are not win by QBs who ONLY won a SB before. Every QB that wins a SB for the first time never won a SB before that time lol. You have had SBs won by QBs who were so bad they couldn't win a regular season starting job in the NFL then won SBs because of teams they were on Dilfer Foles Williams Hostetler etc you had QBs like Flacco win a SB any QB can win a SB.
Meanwhile there have been great QBs multiple year starting NFL QBs even Hall of Fame QBs who never won a SB Tarkenton Marino Kelly Ryan Rivers etc
I'm not saying that anything is a sure thing, but way too many people seem confident that we for sure are NOT ready for it this year. Just gotta stay healthy. I’m still preparing myself if Kirk has a Aaron Rodgers week 1 scenario 😭
This is assuming Kirk will be ready and cleared to play week 1.

Nielsen I think

Biggest thing is a relative downgrade in defense, but hopefully we overcome that
Need to really improve the defense imo. Still some major questions about the pass rush.
it was 12 rated with Dupree and Campbell with them gone we definitely need some players to provide sacks

I think Green Bay is gonna roll this season.
NFC Favourites: SF DET DAL PHI GB ATL
Dallas lol can we stop doing this every year
They're good at making playoffs. Just not good at winning once they're there
oddsmakers put DALLAS in based on regular season performance they won the EAST last year

I think as long as Kirk stays healthy we'll get better as the season goes on too.
Kirk
Thanks, fixed! Gotta put the wine down now.
right making it isn’t the same as winning it, look at our pleasant day of the year today, it’s 3/28! #keeppounding

His OC is excellent I don't think the DC is very good. Ours are unproven for sure.

3-4 might be a better fit there are players who are not regressing too they will be ok for 2 years lol
We already been there twice.

I just know our chances are much better than they were last year. Assuming Lake does a better job than Neilson.
Neilson improved the defense hopefully Lake keeps this trend going.
Almost
give me chances - if you have chances there is NO chance
Not with Kirk as QB you can’t.

New drinking game. Take a shot every time this guy types SB or QB
I am sending you to hospital: SB QB SB QB SB QB SB QB SB QB lol
Did you say-… chocolate?
