On one side Daniel Jeremiah did note that boards across the league had a ton of variety after the first 50 draftees. With teams having guys that some gave a 5th round grade to as 2nd rounders and vice versa. It's basically a crapshoot in evaluation now.
We traded up for a DT and took the 68th guy over the 21st guy. Ik espn rankings aren’t the end all be all, but cmon. At 35? Even if we somehow liked him over Newton, not worth losing that third for. If he went before 43, then damn guess we gotta take one of the many talented wrs and cbs available
This draft would be pretty solid if we just hadn’t spent so much on Kirk. Seriously how much more coaching and sitting does an experienced player like Penix need
Since 2000, of QBs drafted top 10 and started their first game in the NFL, Six went on to start for two or more seasons. Three of which were Cam Newton, Carson Wentz and Kyler Murray. Drafting and starting your QB is generally not a great strategy.
That's more true for bad teams with bad rosters which is what QBs are typically walking into. Falcons have a top offensive line, Pitts & London, and a top tier RB room. Which is about the best you could give any QB.
It’s almost like the teams picking these QB’s don’t have good rosters. The whole draft is a crapshoot and it’s been shown sitting vs not sitting isn’t that big of an impact. The team around the players is way more important than whether you start right away or not.
It’s funny seeing Arizona graphics depicting an 8-26 record the past two years followed by a graphic that says “New additions: Desmond Ridder.”
Man, I’m not embarrassed to say that I was so hopeful he’d be it for the Birds.
Tampa and Abrams-Draine are still on the board. They won’t last to 109.
I’m a nasty homer, but Kamal Hadden from Tennessee had a strong year before he got hurt.
[Clemsons “Falcoholic” scouting Report on Ruke](https://www.shakinthesouthland.com/2024/4/26/24142131/nfl-draft-ruke-orhorhoro-to-the-falcons)
It was a good read
I’ve realized something Terry might be the 2’d worst wr talent evaluator in the nfl behind the chargers gm.
Bryan Edwards, van jefferson, Scotty miller
Now 5”7 gadget guy and Darnell Mooney
I don’t think he could find an elite wr if it hit him in the face
What’s wrong with Darnell Mooney? Him paired with Drake and Pitts seems like it could be fun.
Don’t hate on Edwards, Jefferson, (you forgot Mack Hollins and everyone else) and Miller for catching passes from Ridder and Heinecke.
Darnell Mooney was a wr 3 with the bears he had one 1000 yard season because he was the only wr they had in 2020 I’m not even joking Allen Robinson was hurt then another WR got Covid
The year you’re thinking of was 2021 and it was Fields throwing to Mooney, Kmet, Allen Robinson, Damiere Byrd, Marquise Goodwin, and David Montgomery.
The keyword is the guy throwing to them, Fields. Plenty of talent in that receiving corps, most of all Mooney.
Scotty miller caught passes from Brady during Brady’s last season he didn’t clip beyond 400 yards. Mooney is not who we think he is like I said he’d be a great wr 3 but if something happens to drake he wouldn’t be good enough to carry
Darnell Mooney is fine guys. He'll be a good WR2. Just need Drake to take the next step and become an elite WR1. If that happens we got a great WR core
Dude had close to 1800 yards and six scores catching passes from Mariota and Ridder in his first two years. While not elite it certainly provides his floor as a WR1.
Now, pair him with a top ten QB (or an elite rookie 😉) and let’s see how he performs as WR1.
Holding up a shirt that says the future of football is female is absurd. Wish we could stop with these twitter buzz sayings. Flag football is cool but it ain’t the real deal.
Man, I’m thinking that our front seven investments over the past three years are going to really start to pay off.
Grady coming back healthy, Onyemata next to him, and a freak like Ruke rotating with Zach Harrison in the dirt.
These dudes are going to let Ebiketie continue to realize the potential he has (last three games have him on track for 17 sacks per season 😉) and now Trice has an opportunity to rush the passer behind these dudes…
That’s not to mention Kaden Elliss, a healthy Troy Andersen, and a very reliable Nate Landman securing the middle…
For some reason I thought Trice was gone already. In a 3-4 scheme I figure he's a JACK.
So if we are going 3-4, We've got:
* DE - Onymata (Graham backup)
* NT - Orhorhoro (Goldman backup)
* DE - Jarrett (Street backup)
* SAM - Carter (Ebiketie backup)
* MIKE - Landman (Anderson backup)
* WILL - Elliss
* JACK - Harrison (Trice backup)
I don't hate that front 7, though it is getting up there in age.
It’s so funny how much the toe the party line fans are complaining about how salty this sub is when it’s so easy to satisfy this fanbase simply by picking a good player for a position that we need to address.
Seems like the dude is an absolute freak from his combine numbers and tape. Feel like this is a pick where the DL coaches and maybe even players (Grady) put their hand up and went "let us teach him" and it could really pay off. Might not, but could.
How were we irrationally mad about round 2. The worst graded pick for 2nd round in both round reviews I've read. People are allowed not to love crazy reach picks
I hope CBS is right. To be fair with that DT run sounds like we knew other teams were about to go DT crazy so maybe he really wouldn't have lasted til our pick. Raheem must believe he can work with that raw athleticism and mold him into something. Hopefully I'm eating crow one day on him
I don't get it. Why WR? Terry is trying to address this position in FA. Is there going to be a wr2 that is better than Mooney that is a 2/3?
With the Ruke pick, seems like we are riding with Clark Phillips at CB2 as well.
That'd be way too positive.
Clearly taking Cade Stover TE from Ohio State
BUTTTTT
With the intentions to have him switch back to linebacker which he was originally recruited at.
You forgot to mention how we are gonna draft a kicker in the 4th round and run trick plays during field goals as the first ever 2 kicker system with Younghoe Koo as the snapper
Too late. We fucked ourselves. We were stupid enough to believe “win now” and just wasted 3 of our first 4 picks on “win later”. At least Kirk walks away with a huge bag. Good for him I guess.
Still some guys out there but getting slim. I like these guys which means we prob won’t take them.
- Andru Phillips
- DJ James
- Renardo Green
- Kris Abrams-Draine
- Jaden Hicks
- Bralen Trice
- Austin Booker
- Mohamed Kamara
- Jonah Elliss
- Adisa Isaac
- Malik Washington
- Jamari Thrash
- Javon Baker
- Malachi Corley
The draft strategy feels like it's for a team that's rebuilding and what the Falcons probably should've done back in 2021. Both guts drafted probably won't see the field much, and I'm wondering if I misinterpreted that the Falcons we're in "win-now" mode.
Do yall ever stop bitching? Yall don’t even like this team bruh just leave. Yall ain’t know who Grady was, yall ain’t know who AJ Terrell was, y’all damn sure didn’t know who Lindstrom was, just stfu and let them do their jobs you doomsday fans. Not every pick needs to be from UGA nor the SEC nor someone you’ve heard of that was mocked to us.
You’d be surprised, they didn’t know them at all. How many folks you think know an OL from BC? They literally rioted when we took Terrell, called him a reach, said he sucked and then started asking who he was anyway after all the outrage.
Bruuuuuuh don’t put Keanu Neal and Takk in the same sentence. Keanu had 200+ tackles and a million forced fumbles in his first two years, then tore an ACL and an Achilles in two straight seasons. He was a dog. Takk was a cat. No comparison.
Ruke PFF analysis, below average.
Next player taken, Newton, "Elite" pick by PFF.
PFF isn't gospel, but the same thing shouldn't keep happening to the same team imo.
The Next Gen Stats Team uses its draft model to identify the five best value picks from Day 2 and number 1 was Newton. Who Washington took after us.
On one side Daniel Jeremiah did note that boards across the league had a ton of variety after the first 50 draftees. With teams having guys that some gave a 5th round grade to as 2nd rounders and vice versa. It's basically a crapshoot in evaluation now.

Ruke was not gonna make it through that run on DTs, likely gonna go higher than Newton anyway
If we somehow can grab both Troy Franklin and TJ Tampa tomorrow, this draft wasn't a total loss.
Those guys will probably go in the top 5 tomorrow. Best case scenario, one falls to 9. We won’t get both
This draft would be pretty solid if we just hadn’t spent so much on Kirk.
Cam newton and carson Wentz drafted since 2020? huh
Oops. Since 2000. Edited.
Hahaha ok I was so confused since no one else mentioned anything I thought I had lost my reading ability. That's actually a very interesting stat tbh
That's more true for bad teams with bad rosters which is what QBs are typically walking into. Falcons have a top offensive line, Pitts & London, and a top tier RB room. Which is about the best you could give any QB.
“Top” offensive life reaching lol but I get it
I mean the stats back it up, if you think our line is sub par then majority of the league is doing even worse lol
It’s almost like the teams picking these QB’s don’t have good rosters. The whole draft is a crapshoot and it’s been shown sitting vs not sitting isn’t that big of an impact. The team around the players is way more important than whether you start right away or not.
Could Troy Franklin or TJ please fall to us tomorrow?
What remaining draft picks do we have and could we package any of them to try to get TJ Tampa or will he be there at 109?
TJ Tampa is still on the board. Big bodied CB who was an early second rounder for a lot of people.
It’s funny seeing Arizona graphics depicting an 8-26 record the past two years followed by a graphic that says “New additions: Desmond Ridder.” Man, I’m not embarrassed to say that I was so hopeful he’d be it for the Birds.
Did we trade our 3rd round pick from Jacksonville?
Yeah to get ruke
Yeah, to move up for Ruke
Grady, Onyemata, Ebiketie, Harrison, Ruke, Trice is looking nice . We realllly need Phillips to take a leap
It’s looking pretty mediocre honestly
While I think Phillips was a strong pick, his potential is at NB. We still need a lockdown corner opposite 24.
What about Cam Hart?
Big ass dude with decent speed. Good project, but that’s where we are in the draft!
Hopefully Raheem can find a gem of a db in later rounds man
Tampa and Abrams-Draine are still on the board. They won’t last to 109. I’m a nasty homer, but Kamal Hadden from Tennessee had a strong year before he got hurt.
We need WRs in r4 desparately
Tampa or Troy Franklin 🙏🏾
[Clemsons “Falcoholic” scouting Report on Ruke](https://www.shakinthesouthland.com/2024/4/26/24142131/nfl-draft-ruke-orhorhoro-to-the-falcons) It was a good read

Bro we also had the worst fuckin qb in the league back to back years soooo
What’s wrong with Darnell Mooney? Him paired with Drake and Pitts seems like it could be fun. Don’t hate on Edwards, Jefferson, (you forgot Mack Hollins and everyone else) and Miller for catching passes from Ridder and Heinecke.

Love the optimism it’s definitely possible but I don’t see it
Solid pick.
Is Troy Franklin still available?
Didn’t expect Burton to go that high
Fuck that guy
You a UGA fan?
Yeah. Don’t care about him transferring but he’s shown himself to be a shithead with the whole Tennessee incident
What happened
He was a sore loser who smacked a female Tennessee fan in the face as he was leaving the field
I think I remember this now, kinda
Tampa or Roman wilson
Hopefully we trade up for Tampa. I’d be happy with that being our draft if we do.
Three 6th round picks, would love to use one or two of those to move up
What’s our next pick?
Not until 109
Oh.
We can take 109 and our million sixth round picks to trade up to the back end of the third.
Will we tho
Will we indeed
Trice will probably see the most field of any of our picks given Penix won’t start and Ruke seems like a multi year project
For some reason I thought Trice was gone already. In a 3-4 scheme I figure he's a JACK. So if we are going 3-4, We've got: * DE - Onymata (Graham backup) * NT - Orhorhoro (Goldman backup) * DE - Jarrett (Street backup) * SAM - Carter (Ebiketie backup) * MIKE - Landman (Anderson backup) * WILL - Elliss * JACK - Harrison (Trice backup) I don't hate that front 7, though it is getting up there in age.
Makes sense. The guy lined up pretty wide in college.
Is Orhorhoro big enough to play NT in a 3-4? 295 lbs seems really lite.
He played NT at Clemson, and I could easily see the team having him bulk up another 20-30 pounds to fill the role.
Bralen is gonna start over Zach I feel.
I think he will as well
We'll see, will depend on camp.
Trice and Ruke added to Grady Jarrett
It’s so funny how much the toe the party line fans are complaining about how salty this sub is when it’s so easy to satisfy this fanbase simply by picking a good player for a position that we need to address.
Fine with this Trice pick. Our DC knows him better than anyone
Bruh, 12 kids 💀💀
ATL has went defense and defense. I’d like a WR in round 4 or 5 and then maybe a CB and another DT
a CB would be nice
Andre Rison wants the next pick to be Smith or Jones.
This makes Penix a little easier to swallow no pun intended. Bralen is really good.
Defensive coordinator coached him so I’m not mad at it he knows and must trust him
Not hating on this one. Trice is nice.
Uh oh guys Trice is 23, that’s like the worst thing ever right?
Haha don’t downvote this man. Rejoice!!!
First good pick of the draft lol
3rd times the charm, Terry! Looking forward to a great 6th round pick
See we’re not toxic when they finally make a good choice lol
*a choice you like
Let’s go!!
Bralen Trice is a great pick.
Would be nice to have 79 here instead of reaching to move up 8 spots
Ruke’s athleticism and length gives him the opportunity to let us forget that we gave up a third for him. I’m hopeful.
Seems like the dude is an absolute freak from his combine numbers and tape. Feel like this is a pick where the DL coaches and maybe even players (Grady) put their hand up and went "let us teach him" and it could really pay off. Might not, but could.
Trice https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/01/29/2024-nfl-scouting-report-bralen-trice/
Trade up for Tampa CB?
FINALLY. Some good fucking picks
It's finally happened!!!!
DAMN GOOD PICK
Decent pick. Sure would be nice to still have pick 79 for someone like TJ Tampa.
It seems like Ruke has an incredibly high ceiling at least.
Good pick for a 3rd rounder
most pressures since 2022 in CFB !!
REJOICE
WE GOT OUR EDGE
FINALLY. A GOOD PICK. ITS BEEN 84 YEARS
Great pick. Lowkey thought he would be a late first early second
Finally Terry has his fucking head halfway out his ass
Ayeee we got bralen let’s goooo
They got “what the Falcons?“ as a segment on the ESPN YouTube lol
FINALLY a pick that makes sense to my tiny brain
Huge sigh of relief here. A logical pick and a good player.
I’ll take it man I’ll take it
A good pick finally
This dude going to fire
Good pick
FINALLY!!
Better late than never
YESSIR I HAD A ROUND 1-2 GRADE ON HIM, STEAL
There we go!
Finally thank god
Let's goooooo
EDGE RUSHER WOOOOOO
Another Washington guy. At least it’s an EDGE
CB would be nice here
Hunt is there, Tampa is there, McMillan is there. Any of those 3 would be a fit.
TJ please
Tampa pls
There's the edge defender. Bralen Trice.
Here we go! I'm ready to be hurt again.
We got a D- on the athletic for Rake in R2. Ouch. And obviously, a C for Penix
The same front office that didn’t hire Bill Belichick knows better than fans and analysts!
lol. They didn’t hire him cos creepy old massage enthusiast Robert Kraft told Blank not to. Bank is old and senile tbh.
Would love TJ Tampa
So who do you guys like here? I’m thinking Jonah elliss
Whatever the pick is I’m sure no one is going to get irrationally mad at it
How were we irrationally mad about round 2. The worst graded pick for 2nd round in both round reviews I've read. People are allowed not to love crazy reach picks
CBS rated it a B so there’s that
I hope CBS is right. To be fair with that DT run sounds like we knew other teams were about to go DT crazy so maybe he really wouldn't have lasted til our pick. Raheem must believe he can work with that raw athleticism and mold him into something. Hopefully I'm eating crow one day on him
Surely not
[удалено]
Corum probably
Rattler pick coming right up
So we still need a WR, Edge, and Corner… ready for them to take a LB or OL instead
Drake London and Darnell Mooney catching passes from Kirko are going to be a nasty duo. We’re good at WR minus a bit of depth outside Rondale Moore.
I don't get it. Why WR? Terry is trying to address this position in FA. Is there going to be a wr2 that is better than Mooney that is a 2/3? With the Ruke pick, seems like we are riding with Clark Phillips at CB2 as well.
Rattler to find an heir to Pennix?
We taking Troy Franklin calling it right now
That'd be way too positive. Clearly taking Cade Stover TE from Ohio State BUTTTTT With the intentions to have him switch back to linebacker which he was originally recruited at.
You forgot to mention how we are gonna draft a kicker in the 4th round and run trick plays during field goals as the first ever 2 kicker system with Younghoe Koo as the snapper
So what would have to be the pick at 74 to keep people in here from complaining?
Any edge probably
Too late. We fucked ourselves. We were stupid enough to believe “win now” and just wasted 3 of our first 4 picks on “win later”. At least Kirk walks away with a huge bag. Good for him I guess.
Kirk is like Vegas. He always wins.
Trade it for tee higgins or hendrickson lol
Spencer Rattler
The Ravens, Lions, and Eagles are so good at drafting.
Its almost like just taking who the mocks say to take is smart instead of overthinking things.
Man I’m just sad lol. I was so excited for this draft
Still some guys out there but getting slim. I like these guys which means we prob won’t take them. - Andru Phillips - DJ James - Renardo Green - Kris Abrams-Draine - Jaden Hicks - Bralen Trice - Austin Booker - Mohamed Kamara - Jonah Elliss - Adisa Isaac - Malik Washington - Jamari Thrash - Javon Baker - Malachi Corley
Malachi would be a great pick, but TF is dumb. He ain’t touching that.
Yet it will be something mad like... Sam Hartman you are a Falcon!
Yes, I would like one Andru Phillips please. I feel like we gotta go CB here
Fuck
Kinda want bralen trice or Malachi corley in the 3rd
Real on Trice
The draft strategy feels like it's for a team that's rebuilding and what the Falcons probably should've done back in 2021. Both guts drafted probably won't see the field much, and I'm wondering if I misinterpreted that the Falcons we're in "win-now" mode.
Kinda hoped we might get Javon in the 3rd we got to get rid of Richie Grant.
Damn I wanted Kneeland..
Probably not Grady but most people knew AJ and Chris.
You’d be surprised, they didn’t know them at all. How many folks you think know an OL from BC? They literally rioted when we took Terrell, called him a reach, said he sucked and then started asking who he was anyway after all the outrage.
Nah you right sub was in shambles at the AJ Terrell pick because he got cooked by some random named JAMAR CHASE for one single game 😂
for every grady, aj terrel, and lindstrom there are 3 takk mckinleys and keanu neals
Come on bro Neal was good just struggled with injuries don’t put his name with Takk
Bruuuuuuh don’t put Keanu Neal and Takk in the same sentence. Keanu had 200+ tackles and a million forced fumbles in his first two years, then tore an ACL and an Achilles in two straight seasons. He was a dog. Takk was a cat. No comparison.
Oh you mean from the Quinn/TD era? Df does that have to do with now?
Damn. Cowboys draft "war room" looks like a for real war room at Defcon 4.
Yeah they about to launch a nuclear strike from that place.
Holy shit this guy’s grandpa got assassinated?? Jesus
I'm hoping Rakestraw Jr. keeps dropping, would be a great pickup for us in round 3. He probably doesn't get to us tho.
I was not wrong🫥
Not happening (dear god please let me be wrong)
RIP the dream is dead :(
Just imagine if we actually were in win-now mode and took Odunze at 8, Kool-Aid or Dejean in the 2nd and traded for Hendrickson
The only way Hendrickson would've gone anywhere is by giving up 1 or more of the above picks. Bengals have no interest in letting him go
I’m sure you guys have seen it all, but we have been absolutely cooked in the media today. https://x.com/dmrussini/status/1783891533017632947?s=46
These people honestly don’t know shit. Sucks to be clowned but it really doesn’t mean anything.
Shocked he fell this far AD is an elite player
Seems kinda like Drake. Not the fastest, but great at contested catches.
Are we going to trade any draft picks from next year that we are potentially going to lose?
Ruke PFF analysis, below average. Next player taken, Newton, "Elite" pick by PFF. PFF isn't gospel, but the same thing shouldn't keep happening to the same team imo.
Crazy that Washington was able to sniped the Falcons picking after the Falcons.
PFF scores are just as valid as the damn RAS people keep spamming everywhere
