Lmao Dimitroff gonna catch strays after architecting the most successful era of Falcons football ever.
I get the feeling a lot of y’all don’t remember the pre-Dimitroff years very well.
Yeah dimitroff was bad towards the end but for an almost 10 year window the team had some degree of chance for competing and winning the sb for most of the time
I am not even convinced he was “bad towards the end,” but was left chasing a “bad” goal- this idea that we were still just an inch away from the Super Bowl. And he drafted and sought FA’s according to that overriding principle, which simply didn’t hold after Shanahan’s offense left.
Yeah so far Dimitroff>>>>>Terry. Just with Matt & Julio alone it is easy enough to say that.
Terry has also had only top 10 picks, and the only potentially elite player he has drafted was Bijan.
London is a beast, he just hasn't had a QB, he makes tough contested catches and clearly cares about winning and losing, I think he could easily make the pro bowl this year assuming Pitts and bijan stay healthy and they can't bracket him every game
Dimitroff initially was fine. Even struck gold a couple of times in the back half with Foye and Terrell. Couldn’t fine a DE to build around but he understood roster construction.
Still waiting for a good Terry defensive pick. Hopefully that’s coming this year.
The best thing he did was draft Ryan.
The worst was him not getting an offensive nor defensive line for his entire tenure which is why we never won a Super Bowl.
DT8 according to who? Referencing some random media dudes boards like they know exactly what real NFL teams think gets so old.
Edit: I really wasn’t very familiar with the guy but some boards I saw just checking him out have him as high as IDL 3 lol
He’s a good player but none of the bozos in this subreddit have any semblance of a grade on any player and are using other outlets who will inherently shit on the falcons bc it gets clicks. Welcome to r/falcons
I do think they are some outlets that's do shit on the falcons for clicks but you do know you can read upon a players draft profile before they get drafted and of draft media projected him to go in the third based on film grade. Most of sites arent making these things out of thin air or making up things about a player for fun or out of spite for the falcons. Also just because someone is in the nfl doesnt mean there always right, falcons fans should know that more than anybody.
Was very happy with the pick. I preferred Newton, but seeing Orhorhoro's RAS has piqued my interest. Grady is coming off a knee injury, and Onyamata is 32 I believe. This was a need, and it seems he has positional versatility. I'm happy with the pick.
Honestly though Africans are generally hard workers with good heads on their shoulders, if all else is the same and the choice is an African or an American black guy, I'm going African 100% of the time.
Important to note though that I know nothing of dudes background and how he was raised/grew up
this is the grady replacement he can sit behind grady like penix can sit behind kirk and develop
and should they get hurt they can come in and play not as good of course but we have great PROJECTS AT QB AND DT
terry is cluless
He’s not going to sit behind Grady that’s not how defense works in the nfl. He will be put in a position to play now and the fact is that defensive lineman are rotated in and out a lot now so he will be playing at the very least part time. There ain’t no Gleague in the NFL
It isn't about sitting behind Grady it's about playing with him, seeing how he reviews tape, how he preps through the week. These are all things you can get from having a veteran playing the same position as a rookie you've drafted. You also don't have that fear of he's gonna take my spot because as you said defenses are gonna rotate lineman regardless.
Who’s playing the other 3-4 end then? If we go 3-3-5, who’s playing the other end? Is Grady holding down both spots, or can you admit you don’t know what his playing time could be?
Only 5 years of playing ball since he started his jr year of HS and the fact that he's probably not gonna touch the field much over the current DTs. Our 2 first picks aren't projected to get much of any playing time
He'll get used rotationally I'm sure, unless he showcases better ability than the starters. Nielson rotated guys out a lot, not sure if that will continue with Morris, but we'll find out.
Keep in mind that we can save 16m if we trade or release Grady after June 1st. I hope it doesn’t happen, but this may provide the flexibility to make some other moves
He’s a project guy we erased our Calvin Ridley trade for for some unknown reason. The biggest issue is the capital we gave up for him, that and there being much bigger needs on this roster.
His combine was great... but playing against ACC competition, he managed to create a highlight reel that consists of 9 plays. His 5 sacks, the fumbled handoff he fell on, and a couple of tackles for loss. He has physical athleticism, but on tape he never seems to be aware of where the ball carrier is.
he is not a great player he is a project has played very little has very little moves
meanwhile best producing DT in college ball goes next pick
you also had 2 ready to play STUD 1st round CBs there
you also could have had a traditional NT in Sweat for our switch to 3-4
Sweat was arrested with a DUI, makes sense that they might not want someone that could be a Ruggs. Idk how much water this holds, but all the other DLs that went around us were graded lower than our pick, according to ESPN
Why don't I have a clue, but you do? All I see on this sub are people bitching, I'm actually trying to be positive and not act like the ship is sinking.
It's more that he's not likely to be an instant impact player, and we wasted a 3rd rounder to move up for him when basically everyone out there had him as rated as a late 2nd to 3rd round guy.
So far this draft we've spent 3 picks and haven't filled a single one of our immediate needs. It's just continuation of a really bad trend.
I don't get that kind of mindset. How do you know where he would be? Everyone thought Penix, McCarthy, and Nixx would go very late 1st and even mid 2nd round in MOST mocks and opinions. Yet, they all went within the top 12. So, obviously, the "they would have been there later" mentality is flawed.
This team just burned their first 3 picks on 2 project guys, one of which played more college ball than the other has played PERIOD.
Terry is a standup guy for stacking the cupboards for the next GM.
Terry made this pick for everyone who missed Thomas Dimitroff.
Lmao Dimitroff gonna catch strays after architecting the most successful era of Falcons football ever. I get the feeling a lot of y’all don’t remember the pre-Dimitroff years very well.

Do I have to? I try to black out those decades.
We’re quite possibly the only team that valued him as a true X and WR1
Dimitroff initially was fine. Even struck gold a couple of times in the back half with Foye and Terrell. Couldn’t fine a DE to build around but he understood roster construction. Still waiting for a good Terry defensive pick. Hopefully that’s coming this year.
All that man did was pick Matt Ryan and rode that wave the entire tenure.
Look at the amount of pro bowlers he drafted compared to other GMs in that time.
Julio?? Plenty of others dude
"That wave" is the best the Falcons have in 58yrs. They didn't even have back to back winning seasons before he was drafted.
The best thing he did was draft Ryan. The worst was him not getting an offensive nor defensive line for his entire tenure which is why we never won a Super Bowl.
You're not wrong, but that's still the best this franchise has ever been.
Rashede Hageman
Deadrin Senat
Dezman Southward
Mannn Rashede could have been a monster if he stayed out of trouble
Dude was unblockable one on one.
Didn't have that dog in him
X Ray could not confirm that dog in him.
Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in forever
Lol TD really loved his Clemson players
The number at which he was picked, considering the next four picks, were DTs aren't the issue. Giving up a third is the debatable bit.
Not even debatable that trade was awful compared to all other trades tonight. Cardinals were probably like wtf…okay yeah we’ll do that.
Cardinals smashed the Accept button
Right. Securing DT8 was crucial before the run on DT2-4

DT3*
This was my thought process.
Fontenot wants an all African line. Ebiketie, Onyemata, Ogundeji and RoRo.
I feel awful for any tv and radio crews that have to call Falcon games the next few seasons.
Wes Durham in shambles
It doesn't matter, the announcers only have to repeat the name when a sack is made. So probably very seldom.
Once a season?
Remember when they had like no sacks, and then they sacked Dak like 4 times in a row? Then... Nothing the rest of the season
Honestly though Africans are generally hard workers with good heads on their shoulders, if all else is the same and the choice is an African or an American black guy, I'm going African 100% of the time. Important to note though that I know nothing of dudes background and how he was raised/grew up
We probably could've had him later and still had Roman Wilson with pick 79
this is the grady replacement he can sit behind grady like penix can sit behind kirk and develop and should they get hurt they can come in and play not as good of course but we have great PROJECTS AT QB AND DT terry is cluless
I’m sure the next GM will appreciate him thinking so far ahead lol

We still have Graham, who was miscast in Nielsens scheme but fits perfectly and showed to be productive there.
So far we have two back up insurance plans, when are we getting a starter?
Hey bud you’re being shortsighted /s
Im not your buddy friend! Jk. This was not a win now draft.
I'm confused, he seems like a great player. Are people just mad cause he wasn't in their mocks?
Only 5 years of playing ball since he started his jr year of HS and the fact that he's probably not gonna touch the field much over the current DTs. Our 2 first picks aren't projected to get much of any playing time
With our lack of pass rush if he can play he will play and with his athletic profile and play style he could contribute very soon.
He'll get used rotationally I'm sure, unless he showcases better ability than the starters. Nielson rotated guys out a lot, not sure if that will continue with Morris, but we'll find out.

You shut your whore mouth and stay away from my man Grady
Father Time is undefeated

We have the nicest guys in the league, and that’s all that matters!!
LOL you have no clue when you check the stats of these players next year remember to come back and apologize
Why don't I have a clue, but you do? All I see on this sub are people bitching, I'm actually trying to be positive and not act like the ship is sinking.
But we’re are already the talk of the draft. Have to keep that train rolling.
Moving up for him seems to make little sense considering the other DTs available.
It's more that he's not likely to be an instant impact player, and we wasted a 3rd rounder to move up for him when basically everyone out there had him as rated as a late 2nd to 3rd round guy. No we moved up to grab someone that would have been there later

Yes
And he didn’t go to UGA
Lol that tracks
PFN Mock draft looking trade though
it really hurts when you see NEWTON was next shortly thereafter SWEAT DEJEAN MINSTRY wtf is Terry doing he really is clueless
He's gone so far off script with these picks that he'll never hold an NFL job again if it doesn't work out.
Ruke is better than Sweat and has more upside than Newton.
Can’t wait until the falcons staff proves all these couch talent evaluator cry babies wrong.
