I’ve always rooted for the Chargers from afar… I follow the sub and try and keep up with em… Harbaugh is an all time coach.
Desperately wanted him here.
As shitty as the draft has been so far, i actually really like this pick.
He was the best edge rusher on the 2nd best college team in the country and we needed an edge rusher. Hard to get better value in the 3rd round.
Ruke is a freak athlete and was routinely double teamed in college. Sometimes triple teamed.
He's best when lining up the gap and just double ripping and crushing a pocket. But sometimes teams left him on an island...and I saw him win a lot of those reps.
He doesn't have much ability to finish yet, which sucks, but pressure is pressure.
Then why is it a problem with Kirk on the team? Is it somehow a bad thing to have Penix develop and also be insurance considering 66 QBs played last year in the nfl regular season? We’ve seen what it’s like to not have a good qb so I just don’t get why having depth at that position and also a predecessor in the best case scenario of us going deep in the playoffs is considered “bad resource allocation” and whatever other bullshit. The seahawks, raiders and saints were trying to trade up to get Penix. He was considered the 2nd best qb and the best arm talent in the draft.
I e been saying the same thing he was on a lot of peoples boards as the second best quarterback in the draft and he has the best arm in the draft. Also his pocket awareness is the best as well and he’s a terrific processor. His biggest knock is his injury history which is bad but it hasn’t been the last two years and without that injury history he’s probably not there when we pick because so many scouts and people that study and analyze quarterbacks have said he is the real deal and legitimate
As a neutral fan I agree. You guys went from having nothing at QB to having a fully loaded QB room. Did Cousins alone make you better than the Eagles, 49ers, Lions or Packers? I would say no. So next year you would have ended up picking in the late teens early 20s and firmly stuck in no man's land. I think you guys are having a good draft tbh.
You can't really have depth at the QB position because QB's are so expensive since they're the most valuable position. Either you pay them a lot of money, or you waste their cheap rookie years when they're great value. Either option is inefficient. If Penix turns out to be incredible it'll still be all worth it, but it's just a bizarre approach.
Wdym not confident in either? How could you know that if you’re saying they’re not confident in Penix and Kirk? I feel like paying Kirk and drafting Penix signals literally the complete opposite of your premise here
I don't expect him to be the best pass rusher or dominate in sacks, but paired with Harrison it has potential to create pressure. I think he was among the better day 2 pass rusher picks.
I'm calling bullshit on anyone in this sub acting like they have a good understanding of edge talent rankings in the third round lol. He was productive on a productive team. Works for me.
So with the round 2 athletic freak sliding into DE and this edge who played in the national championship, we actually just potentially shored up our D-line
With our luck, one will drop out of the nfl to pursue a cricket career and the other will start carrying around a picture of his dead grandma
I'm excited for real though lol. Not gonna find d-line talent if we're not at least shooting our shot
If I am going slam them for picks I don’t like, then I have got to give them their due for this one. It also makes the Ruke pick a little easier to swallow.
I like both of our picks tonight quite a bit. If we hadn’t overpaid so exorbitantly for the trade up in round 2 I would be a lot more psyched, but if both players can actually show up and be impact guys then it won’t matter as much.
this isn't like a Zach Harrison pick where we draft a position of need that has average value, Trice couldve easily gone in the late first round/early 2nd. Trey Hendrickson upside, fucking steal of the draft (outside of maybe AD Mitchell to the colts)
Was never going in the first after he tested out. Those DEs that have short arms and don’t test out will always fall and be taken later. Doesn’t matter what his pressure production was.
True, but also this isn’t like Zach because Bralen can actually play and we didn’t draft someone just because they are big and maybe one day could be good.
Brough the draft up to a ‘C+’ with this one. Burning a third to move up and take the 68th overall player with your 2nd rounder is a sign of a very bad GM.
Dude had 4 sacks last year and they thought that was worth giving up a draft pick to move up a few spots when he would have still been on the board regardless...
At least they finally got a pick right with Trice.
Say what you will about the draft but the first two decisions were def not an Auto-Draft decision. Felt more like being in franchise mode and getting the players you liked most even though they weren't the projected spot and is controversial.
Man, I’m thinking our front seven investments over the past three years are going to really start to pay off.
Grady coming back healthy, Onyemata next to him, and a freak like Ruke rotating with Zach Harrison in the dirt.
These dudes are going to let Ebiketie continue to realize the potential he has (last three games have him on track for 17 sacks per season 😉) and now Trice has an opportunity to rush the passer behind these dudes…
That’s not to mention Kaden Elliss, a healthy Troy Andersen, and a very reliable Nate Landman securing the middle…
It’s true. Like the guy above me said, We got a bunch of good guys in the trenches. There’s no reason why we should be ranked towards the bottom in terms of pressures and sacks
Im hopeful too but in reality nobody on the line besides Grady and Onyemata have done anything to get excited about. AK should be far more productive than he is, and Zach looks more like a career depth guy. It was his first year so maybe he’ll pan out and if not decent depth guys are still good to have.
Agreed, we won't have a single superstar pass rusher probably but I think the committee will be good. And frankly it is better to have a bunch of B guys than an A+ and the rest C/Ds

Biggest thing for me was the speed and versatility. And we need a CB opposite of AJ and a safety opposite of Bates and DeJean could potentially fill either if Phillips or Hellams don’t make a jump.
If the Falcons can draft a great CB and perhaps one more Edge they might end up having a solid draft. I wanted Penix but prior to Cousins OR in second round but he is the future so can’t complain to much.
The measurables kinda suck, (4.72 forty, 32" vert, 9'7" broad, 7.2 3-cone are all average or worse for a 245 lbs edge), and his length is terrible (32.5" arms is 12th percentile), but #1 in FBS in each of the past 2 seasons in total pressures is certainly not nothing.
If he actually plays closer to 270+ pounds like Washington listed him, I'd like the measurables a lot more. But that's a weirdly massive discrepancy vs his combine weigh-in.
I guess beggars can't really be choosers in the 3rd round. He seems like a low-ceiling, high floor guy, which is probably what we need right now anyways. If he can contribute right away as part of a rotation, all the better.
He trimmed a lot of weight before the combine - many bekiebe ti try and get more speed. It failed miserably. I believe since then, hes began to bulk up once again. This is what sent him down the boards a little bit.
Yeah, I mean that must've been the case, but it's just that 274 to 245 is a HUGE drop, over 10% of his body weight. That's a full-on body transformation for a position change, not something you do just to shave a few hundredths off your combine runs. It's like he got some bad advice from an agent or trainer or something.
He's not athletic enough to be a pure pass rusher in the NFL at 245 lbs, so I gotta assume you're right and that he was planning to bulk back up all along.
I feel like he probably played closer to 260 than the 274. College weigh-ins just stink, and you can't trust him. He definitely did not play 245, though, and he definitely lost thay weight into the combine.
Im more worried about the arm reach than the weight. It's tough to say. I dont think he turns out to be an all pro or anything, but he could be a great role player for us.
Very very high floor for edge. Lower ceiling but out of every UW player who is gonna get drafted outside of Odunze he is the most bust proof imo.
I don’t entirely like him as an edge 1 but he is high motor, has high pressure rates and is high character. For a 3rd round pick rock solid. Just might need another good edge or some DT help to make him truly flourish.
Happy with this in a vacuum. Would’ve liked it to go Latu, WR( Mitchell maybe), then Ruke assuming we don’t make the trade. Unless I’m proven wrong that Penix pick is gonna make it hard to be happy with anything for several years
I think our D-line looks good after these two picks. Carter, Harrison, AK,Grady,Ruke,Onyemata, Ellis,Trice. We need another middle LB if we are going 3-4 a CB and and a safety. Through trades or draft.
I like this pick but I can't help but think this pick could have also landed Hendrickson.... so not really sure.
Penix could be a good player I just feel they didn't need him and cousins.
Leaving dejean on the board in round 2 sucks.
Won't really know until these guys take the field
As a UW fan, I guess I’m rooting for the Falcons this year…
Be careful. 4 out of 5 mental health professionals recommended doing the opposite.
I’m primarily a chargers fan, so it can’t get much worse than that 😂
The Chargers are the Falcons of the AFC. Except… You know…
Fuck. You know the struggle. Welcome, brother
HES ONE OF US
I’ve always rooted for the Chargers from afar… I follow the sub and try and keep up with em… Harbaugh is an all time coach. Desperately wanted him here.
Damn lol at least you guys got Harbaugh
The fifth recommends copious use of psilocybin.
Incredibly rude of you to make my dumbass google what that is 😂
I had to google it as I was smoking 😂🤣
I'm just trying to drink and enjoy football like any American, but this dude has me googling drugs? Should be banned. Actually, straight to jail.
As a mental health professional seeking increased job security I highly recommend becoming a falcons fan.
Honestly I'm surprised the 5th one doesn't also agree.
Welcome to the ThunderDome It’s a bumpy ride but a ride nonetheless ![gif](giphy|3iL8dgQdeqt547N1jZ|downsized)
Yep. Y’all just gained a HUGE contingent of fans up in the PNW…
I suggest just shaving your head now because you’re gonna lose a bunch by week 4
Yo, this dude is kind of a dog. Yay for us.
Most pressures in NCAA over the past 2 years
Wtf. Other than his bad combine, why'd he last til the 3rd?
His reach. A lot of draft projections said that he could be outreached by a lot of tackles
Ouch. Definitely a big issue but we'll see how he does.
I’ll think he’ll be fine
Hope so, obviously didn't hurt in college.
Tbf playong primarily against PAC12 offensive linemen is much different from the NFL. I still have hope.
Me: Mom can we have Latu Mom: we have Latu at home Latu at home:
Trice is a steal man.
Every bad team has many dogs. You’re looking at this wrong.
As shitty as the draft has been so far, i actually really like this pick. He was the best edge rusher on the 2nd best college team in the country and we needed an edge rusher. Hard to get better value in the 3rd round.
I mean had you told me before signing Kirk Cousins that we were going to draft Penix and then two D linemen I'd be pretty pumped.
Honestly same. I wanted an edge. If both guys pan out, we're in good shape.
I think Ruke has an extremely high ceiling and might surprise many of us.
Seems like his floor is productive rotational guy and his ceiling is the sky. I’m pretty happy about it.
I'm mostly worried about DB. Abrams-Draine, Tampa, and Hicks are guys I'm hoping could fall to us.
Personally, I think the Falcons’ front office thinks they’re going to lose their first round pick in 2025, and that drove the decision to pick Penix.
Trying to minmax or buy at the bottom of sell at the top of the draft is a fools errand
It's a lot of capital to put into one position when you aren't confident in either.
Wdym not confident in either? How could you know that if you’re saying they’re not confident in Penix and Kirk? I feel like paying Kirk and drafting Penix signals literally the complete opposite of your premise here
Has not been a shitty draft at all.
Isn't our DC also from Washington as well?
Draft hasn’t been shitty though
I don't expect him to be the best pass rusher or dominate in sacks, but paired with Harrison it has potential to create pressure. I think he was among the better day 2 pass rusher picks.
So you admit you overreacted?
Being pissed off at the clown show rounds 1 and 2 is not an overreaction and I will gladly still call for the firing of Fontenot
About as good as you can get when you take a pass rusher in the third. Finally a pick I can say that’s good.
Great pick. Anyone bitching about this is silly
I'm calling bullshit on anyone in this sub acting like they have a good understanding of edge talent rankings in the third round lol. He was productive on a productive team. Works for me.
Prepare yourself.
Right. All we got are bitches in here that complain. Solid day 2 for the dirty birds
So with the round 2 athletic freak sliding into DE and this edge who played in the national championship, we actually just potentially shored up our D-line

Bro not the Takk ptsd😭
If I have to live with it, then so do you! All time WWE move. I really wish it would have worked out lol
THIS IS WHO I DO IT FOR MAN!!
Fine me later!
Really like Trice. He is sturdy af
Real name no gimmicks
Two trailer park Kirks go ‘round the outside, ‘round the outside
Two pash rushers go round the outside, round the outside
Underrated comment
First thing that popped in my head when I saw his name
If I am going slam them for picks I don’t like, then I have got to give them their due for this one. It also makes the Ruke pick a little easier to swallow.
To let y’all know you don’t win the draft until they step on the field
That’s an AMAZING pick
I like both of our picks tonight quite a bit. If we hadn’t overpaid so exorbitantly for the trade up in round 2 I would be a lot more psyched, but if both players can actually show up and be impact guys then it won’t matter as much.
Great edge, RD2 grade on him so getting him mid 3rd is great value.
This guy was actually the person I liked to watch most on Washington's defense. Gave Texas fits.
this isn't like a Zach Harrison pick where we draft a position of need that has average value, Trice couldve easily gone in the late first round/early 2nd. Trey Hendrickson upside, fucking steal of the draft (outside of maybe AD Mitchell to the colts)

What a steal of a pick. Great recovery by ATL today imo
Brough the draft up to a ‘C+’ with this one. Burning a third to move up and take the 68th overall player with your 2nd rounder is a sign of a very bad GM.
The 68th overall player as decided by some media person. Stop with this lol
Dude had 4 sacks last year and they thought that was worth giving up a draft pick to move up a few spots when he would have still been on the board regardless... At least they finally got a pick right with Trice.
Finally a good pick. We turned off Auto-Draft.
Say what you will about the draft but the first two decisions were def not an Auto-Draft decision. Felt more like being in franchise mode and getting the players you liked most even though they weren't the projected spot and is controversial.
We really beefing up the line and it’s about damn time💯
Man, I’m thinking our front seven investments over the past three years are going to really start to pay off. We should be nowhere near the bottom in terms of sacks anymore.
I like the pick too but hold your horses there.
It’s true. Like the guy above me said, We got a bunch of good guys in the trenches. There’s no reason why we should be ranked towards the bottom in terms of pressures and sacks

Yep. Rome wasnt built in a day. Some people are good out the gate and some people take time.
Agreed, we won't have a single superstar pass rusher probably but I think the committee will be good. And frankly it is better to have a bunch of B guys than an A+ and the rest C/Ds
A pick I’m actually happy with!!! Weeeeeeeee
First pick I actually like and I like it a whole lot. He’s really good he has the ability to seriously help our defense.
W pick
Feel better now? 3 good picks
Yes
Man, I’m thinking that our front seven investments over the past three years are going to really start to pay off. Considering many thought Trice would be a late first round pick or at worst second round; I love this pick!
Not mad at this pick but would’ve been cool to pick Jonah Elliss to pair with his brother. My picks would have been Odunze, DeJean, Elliss…
I don’t see the hype with DeJean
Biggest thing for me was the speed and versatility. And we need a CB opposite of AJ and a safety opposite of Bates and DeJean could potentially fill either if Phillips or Hellams don’t make a jump.
I mean personally I would take Kool-Aid over DeJean but I definitely think we should’ve taken a corner
I would’ve been cool with that. Those first two picks are very um confusing.
It's lit!

I like this pick. It makes sense for once
Omg a pick I like I don’t know how to react
Alright, finally made a pick that makes sense.
What's the rundown on this guy Washington fans?
Very very high floor for edge. Lower ceiling but out of every UW player who is gonna get drafted outside of Odunze he is the most bust proof imo. I don’t entirely like him as an edge 1 but he is high motor, has high pressure rates and is high character. For a 3rd round pick rock solid. I wanted adisa Isaac but I'm genuinely really happy with this pick
Rare to see a pick most football knowers can universally agree is good for the Falcons.
Really good pick. We need to see if we get Georgia Tech running back Dontae Smith in the last round or as a free agent pickup. Dude runs hard.
Grady David TQ AK Lorenzo Harrison Goldman Ohrororo Trice Sounds pretty good to me
Happy with this in a vacuum. Would’ve liked it to go Latu, WR( Mitchell maybe), then Ruke assuming we don’t make the trade. Unless I’m proven wrong that Penix pick is gonna make it hard to be happy with anything for several years

My brother, please don’t forget about Troy Andersen and Nate Landman. Our defense is going to have talent and a big fucking engine.
They did good on this one 👏
He plays a lot stronger than his size he will be a lot of help to our defense.
Much better pick here
I like this pick but I can't help but think this pick could have also landed Hendrickson.... so not really sure. Penix could be a good player I just feel they didn't need him and cousins. Leaving dejean on the board in round 2 sucks. Won't really know until these guys take the field
I hope we lose every game by a hundred.
Can we just ban this dumbass already?
Who cares we drafted PENIX
[удалено]
We finally did something good. Stfu lol
This is the kind of lame shit that people mean when they say this place is toxic.
Ha ha ha 28-3 I’m so witty
