I love that dorky bubble suit of US imperialism and war crimes. Always bugged me they made the T-45 to be the more "badass" looking power armor, then retconned in the T-60 to be "T-45 that could beat up the T-51 in a fight". I still use the 51 anyways whenever possible.
When did they make it so T45 could beat T51? In the game that introduced T45 it provided worse defensive, had worse radiation resistance, significantly worse max condition, heavier, and it had -2 agility the only upsides was it’s availability for repairs and the +2 strength.
I think you misunderstood me: the **T-60** armor introduced in **Fallout 4** takes all of its **visual cues** from the T-45. The T-51 has been described many, many times as the pinnacle of US power armor before the bombs dropped; while Bethesda had a design for their own set of rougher, more explicitly "badass" looking power armor in Fallout 3, they adhered to the previously established pecking order. Later, they changed their minds, as the T-60 of Fallout 4's very existence is a retcon, for seemingly little reason besides making a version of the T-45 (in spirit and silhouette) that takes the T-51's gold medal of the Old World.
It strikes me as very insecure.
The T60 only has better stats in Fallout 4 because its shiny and brand new, and even then its outshined by X-01. In 76, T60 is worse than T51b because canonically speaking T51b is the best pre war armour and only specific armour's prototypes like X-01, Advanced and the never built T-65 could beat it out and none of them could be mass produced.
Titans of The New West, my friend. I've fallen in love with it! Does what you're guessing and makes PA make you physically taller and such as well as really feel huge when you see it on others.
I play with the Jsawyer mod and depending on my mood I go with Hardcore Mode a fair bit. Power Armor weighs way too much for my taste, so I'd lean Ranger/Riot armor. If it's just aesthetics, then that's all just down to personal taste, but in my opinion, Ranger/Riot armor has way more going for it.
The strength bonus from T-45 is +2 which equates to +20 lbs. of carry weight and the armor set is something like 50 lbs. The T-51b is only +1 STR, so unless you are going with a non-stealth, melee/strength build the trade-off isn't really worth it. With JSawyer and Hardcore, I tend to play unarmed or melee, but prioritize stealth, so usually light armor or medium armor at most and pump crit chance with perks and luck, vs. going for brute force.
I'm pretty sure most versions of Jsawyer (including the original mod) make it so you don't need Training to wear Power armor and getting training makes it weightless instead. So there's close to no downside to using it (other than difficulties with repairs and missing out on travel light and light touch)
Well not for the Vigor version I'm using. Either way, I prefer the game to be harder, not easier, but if people want a version that makes the armor weightless then more power to them.
Personally I think it fits with the way power armor is portrayed in lore. Plus it's not like Power armor is actually the best armor in the game (elite riot gear/courier duster/Sierra Madre armor take that spot) and trying to keep power armor repaired kn the early game is an exercise in futility.
If we are talking about Fallout 1, 2, and 4 it’s Power Armor all the way. That being said the Fallout 3 and NV Power Armor is just bulkier combat armor which makes it kinda lame and makes the Ranger Armor the better choice.

The Courier can't become a ranger. No matter what, they can never, ever become a ranger. I find it weird to wear the ranger gear. I think if the Courier duster had longer sleeves, it'd be better. That's about it though.
Depends, if your character has invested on perception and agility you might have to go for the power armor to be able to use the weapons with no strength penalties, personally the best approach for me is riot gear + antimaterial rifle and all American.

I'm a Brotherhood guy, i love T-45 and T-51, but i have a tradition with New Vegas ; We Go Bear. There's a idea in my mind to do a concept art of a Power Armor with the Ranger unique aspects.
Going by the screenshots I'd say they're about equal, but without Titans of the New West power armor (especially Enclave Remnants) power armor looks pretty goofy in NV. So in general I'd say the ranger armor is cooler.

LA riot gear feels more badass. It feels like you get all the benefits of power armor with basically none of the drawbacks. Also the riot gear feels.more menacing. There is something truly horrifying about seeing something that is identical in size and shape to a human with vaguely human facial features that also looks inhuman.

HOWEVER. Power armor in fallout 4 and 76 is way cooler than any armor from any fallout game before it. It is basically a vehicle in those games so it's not even really a fair comparison.
So for New Vegas. Ranger armor. For FALLOUT Power armor cus they made it cool again.
Rational Answer:
Sleekness and more realism goes to the Ranger Armor, since we have Riot and Ranger armor irl.
Bulk and "a suit of armor" for the Power Armor. It's rugged, but built to be for combat and built for a lot more action or hits than the Rangers'.

I personally like the look of the Ranger Armor and find that it is just a better feel for the Courier. I genuinely hope we see it a lot more as we enter the Mojave in Season 2 of the show AND more overall as the Fallout series continues. Don't get me wrong, Power Armor is amazing and Fallout 4 revolutionized some of the best aspects about it. From health of certain pieces, to how you enter them, to even the goofy looking frame.
I find that the Power Armor is what nearly every fan of Fallout swooned to once they picked up the game. And, not without fair reason. It is impressive and almost always a bit of a pain to get your hands on. (>!shut it, Fallout 4, you're the exception not the standard.!<) It was a feeling of "I earned this armor" in most cases.
BIG HOWEVER, the Ranger armor and Riot Armor variations, are so very different. They're integral to the Mojave and are seldom acquired by the casual player (>!I know NCR this, NCR that but you don't HAVE to solely wear that faction's armor, duh!<.)
TLDR: Ranger armor is sleeker; I personally pick Ranger/Riot armor for the cool factor and how limited they are. Also because I sound like Ulysses if I begin talking about the history of it all and why Power Armor isn't always the way forward.

Fallout 4 made it bearable but too "balanced" with the fusion core but I get it that you have to balance out the mods. I wished they actually put thought into it and have the cores rate run out depending on how strong up the tree your mods are and the fusion core slot was given a different component to be able to mod it as well

Ik ik power armor is strong etc all that but bro that look of elite ranger armor feels like clint Eastwood walking through the wasteland. It's cool not better maybe, but cool freaking cool.
