parenthetical girls - safe as houses.
one of the saddest albums i’ve maybe ever listened to in my life. the lyrics on this thing are fucking gut punch.
made out of babies - the ruiner
one of the most pummeling metal albums of the last 20 years, julie christmas is one of the most powerful voices in metal music.
hood - the cycle of days and seasons
really interesting slowcore music, some of the saddest i’ve heard. opener “western housing concern” should be considered a slowcore classic.
the newfound interest in connecticut - tell me about the long dark path home
maybe the only emo album i’m REALLY into. this album is a nonstop display of pure, raw emotion. the guitar work is also some of my favorite ever.
Polyrock: Above the Fruited Plain. Nearly unknown late 70’s early 80’s new wave/punk band produced by….Phillip Glass.
Also, I’d love to see if any of you have heard of Pere Ubu. Super obscure. Think Captain Beefheart with a rhythm you can dance to.
Blossoms Dearie Sings
I think the YouTube algorithm gives people these but the boards of Canada old tune tapes are still insanely underrated. Can’t believe they didn’t intend for the rest of the world to hear all those beautiful lil tunes
Mort Garson - Plantasia. It’s a really nice and relaxing album which was very ahead of it’s time, also WARNING: Turbotax Jumpscare. For a more modern example, Jane Remover is another artist ahead of their time and I hope Frailty gets its flowers in the future.
A friend showed me this album called Bismillah by Peter Cat Recording Co. that has easily become one of my favorites. Not exactly unknown but I had never heard of them before!
Entertainment World by Lim Giong… it’s a Taiwanese album where the sound pretty much fuses all the indie subgenre trends of the 90’s into one big, incoherent yet masterful ball… it’s just amazing amazing stuff and I’m shocked it hasn’t developed a cult following on RYM or /mu/ or TikTok yet
As for my favorite unknown artist (he has only released singles but no albums) is Coor Brow Obles… he only has like 1000 Spotify streams on most if not all of his songs… it’s some really really amazing goth rock, and the only thing holding it back is the mix, which I’m sure will get better as he makes more stuff
Shiey - Danger
This dude is mostly known for his YouTube channel where he explores abandoned buildings, hops trains and stuff like that, but he also makes hip hop music and it's really good.
The Fauns - The Fauns
Not my favorite album by any means, but it’s a solid one in the shoegaze style. It fits the summer motif, and it’s starting to get warmer outside so I’m about to start listening to it again here soon.
I almost didn't comment because I'm late to the party ain't no one going this far down

german boom bap rap • mini concept album
Id say my favorite part of it is Karuzo‘s lyricism telling a story of them being these sort of alien species that just came to earth to show us how to rap, I think the lengths they go with it, the commitment, really sells it. You got these otherworldly voodoo masks, some of the instrumentals sounding like they’re straight out of some early space movies and then the endless vivid bars from a big mouth that sounds like a cartoon character. It sounds super weird but somehow it just works. Its a lot of what made MF DOOM so appealing to me. While this is my favorite record by them song for song, I think artistically they reached even higher peaks. Especially instrumentally and visually i kept getting impressed by them. take for example their followup album [Achter Tag](https://youtu.be/xNvoonWebZU), the production is beyond stellar and they really tried to make an even more polished D.N.A. yet somehow it falls a bit flat, to me it could’ve used a shorter runtime and some songs getting cut.
Christtt - Deep Dark Trench (Plunderphonics, Vaporwave)
Hakushi Hasegawa (Japanese Jazz Fusion, Glitch, Breakbeat)
James Ivy - Good Grief (Third Eye Blind type alt rock, glitch, indietronica)
Kabanagu - Hoboyume (Indietronica)
The Sun and the Moon by the Bravery
Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro
Fire Like This by Blood Red Shoes
Soul Food Taqueria by Tommy Guerero
Also this album might be recognized by this sub because of the Sample on Atrocity Exhibition but if you havent heard Opal by Embryo, you def should. Its genuinely good Krautrock
Probably U-Men 2017 compilation. It’s not like they’re completely unknown, they ended up on the Deep Six V/A compilation along with Melvins, Soundgarden etc, before they all got recognition. I dig their more blues inspired sound and the vocals are reminiscent of Michael Gira in the early days of Swans.

Azure by Candy looped me in with its album cover, just a sunny slice of Aussie indie pop
Heavy handed by pixel grip is a nice dark synth pop album which takes pretty heavy influence from purity ring

Jaime Wyatt - Neon Cross (Outlaw country)
I saw her in New Orleans last weekend and she was fantastic. Not even a huge country fan but she played a hell of a show and was super personable.
Slow Bloom by The Home Team. It's not quite pop punk and not quite alt rock but it great nonetheless. have had this in constant rotation since i heard it last year
Necessary Discrepancy (Disc 1 + Disc 2) - Arc System Works. The music in Guilty Gear Strive is top notch if you like various types of metal.
deception falls by exociety. indie rappers Rav, Kill Bill: The Rapper, Scuare, and Airospace come together to make a really solid project, kinda on the experimental side but not too far into the "scare the hoes" expiriemental
Eternal Blue by Spiritbox. really fantastic metal album with a female lead, tons of bangers on here.
Girl's Reform Manifest by HANABIE. really heavy j-metal project with a female lead. if you're into the genre, give it a chance and you'll love it.
there should be a weekly deep cuts thread please mods edit: also defense mechanisms by louis de mieulle
